It was not a pleasant experience. The beds were rock hard (with only one small pillow) and their rooms really outdated. The only good thing I have to say is the pool is awesome and surprisingly really well kept! They have a little playground set for young kids which is nice, but their rooms really need work. The paint in the bathroom and the bathroom door were atrocious. The shower didn't have a shower head, and was leaking.. And the top part of the bathroom wasn't even tiled; not even painted properly. At least the air conditioning worked. If you need a cheap place, for shower and sleep, it's below par, but it'll Do. We wanted to save money for niagara, and it was worth that part! Overall, not a good place!

After check in, found pubic hair on the toilet seat and rim and feces in it! TV was broken and leaning against the back of the cabinet and one bed leg was broken and it was leaning! On my way to the lobby to complain, I was offered "Whatever I need" from a Drug Dealer who was sitting outside! I went and complained to the staff about the condition of the room, they wanted to show me a different room and came with us to see it. The toilet was broken and continuously running, the TV was MISSING along with one of the 2 drawers from the cabinet! One bed was unmade and the pillow case looked filthy. I told the staff, who was standing there seeing this, that this was also unacceptable. Went back to the lobby and said I would like a refund, she went to speak to the owner, he came out personally and said "We showed you 2 rooms, if you don't like it, don't stay", I tried explaining the problem and he interrupted me and repeated "If you don't like it, just get out" and Refused to listed to me or refund my money. We left and stayed at the Ramada down the road. This place is NOTHING like the pictures, the smell is terrible and the people are Rude. This was By Far the worst place I have ever seen. Don't be fooled, Stay Away!!

This is the worst motel experience that I have had...Please do not book it even if it's for $40. It's ridiculously filthy.... the sheets are noticably not changed. The bathroom we're mossy and the door was broken. . Stained carpets and nasty walls...the microwave, stove, oven and refrigerator was all rusty and dirty. The room has a stench and vents and AC were not working. My goodness this motel needs to shut down....

Well where to start, we arrived at the hotel and the hotel was not how the pictures were when we made the arrangements. After we were assigned our room we were told our room is ready, when we made it to the room the room was still being cleaned. We ended up leaving for a short time for the person cleaning could finish. When we finally got into the room for the first night we walked in, it was really not impressive. The room had an odor that was uninviting, the bed sheets are old, cracks all over the walls, one good outlet to charge anything, tv cable goes on and off and on top of everything else the cleaning person threw some of our stuff out! It was a walmart bag with two brand new boxes of cereal, plastics silverware and bowls ,our door was not even closed all the way who knows what else could have happened with our stuff still inside. Our trip has not even completed yet and am defintely not satisfied with our motel location. It pays off to pay a little more to be closer to the falls and dont have to worry about paying parking for your car while at the falls. Only plus side of this motel is having fresh co down the street.

I knew I was booking a cheap motel, but I would never expected to receive this kind. First room we got key from was never cleaned after previous people, we exchange to different room and then find out that bathroom is not clean, and the door is not locking as door knob falling out of the door. so we asked to clean our room when we are out. when we came back nobody touched our room. so when I asked why, I got the answer that cleaning lady is gone and they will give us another room with Jacuzzi. we had to move one more time and then to find out that we can't use Jacuzzi as we didn't pay for it and every single time that they move us they charged us more. also be aware after you checked in they won't refund you if you are not satisfied. never going back to this motel

Very horrible experience. Toilet is not clean. When we entered the room, it's full of bad odour which not goes off even after the room spray. We hesitate to walk on the floor mat without shoes or Sandals. Room is full of flies. Not sure whether they really clean the room when someone vacates. Microwave was given but it's not working. We have tried to reach front desk but still they haven't arranged the alternative. This is the worst motel which I have seen in Canada. Since 1 is the minimum rating, I have given this otherwise it is qualified only for 0 rating.

I read a lot of reviews, and booked anyway. Quick, friendly check in. When I opened our room, I realized it was not a non smoking room, and went right back to the desk. I explained that I'm very sensitive to the smell of smoke. We were given another room, no fuss, no issue. This room was lovely. Clean, and the a/c was working very well. I see that people comment on the linens that don't match....if they are clean, who cares? I would stay again!

Nothing really to be said as you get what you paid for. The size of the room is decent and the room itself is clean. Not sure how old the inn is but it still uses TV tubes although having free wifi access is quite surprising. The door key is very traditional and it stopped working when I was doing a last inspection after our stay and just before we checked out. The pool is also a good one as my kids enjoyed it even. There are things to be improved in the inn but it is sufficient enough if you are just planning to have a bed to sleep and washroom to use.

Room cleanliness was acceptable and had no problem with linens or stench as other people mentioned. However this motel is highway robbery if you plan on staying on the weekend. Jumps $100 in room price. Plus the staff is rude and not accommodating in the least. Pay the extra $20 to stay somewhere with friendlier people, that won't make it seem as if they're blessing you with 5 star room when it's barely a 2 star.

Not an unpleasant place to stay. Many upgrades are happening as the new owners are improving the motel each day. There are many residents which are pleasant and friendly. The owners are taking great strides in improving their long term clientele. Cleanliness and room upkeep have greatly improved as the owners have hired knowledgeable staff, that are taking pride in their work. The heating is not the best as you rely on portable heaters, but the air conditioners work well. So with the warmer weather and the opening of the pool I would recommend the Arkona Motel as a pleasant, and very frugal place to stay. As everyone knows its the FALLS you are here too see, and that is why you are sure to enjoy your stay.
