If you are in Udupi you must visit this place for breakfast - evening snacks. It is the best when it comes to having South Indian food. Masal Dosa, Bisibele bath and dahi vada are my favourite among all. Also one of the best coffee is served here :)

We visited there for breakfast, tried Sambar Vada, Dahi Vada, Mangalore Buns, Poori saahu, Masala Dosa. Sambar Vada tasted good, Masala dosa made with Ghee was wonderful to taste, Mangalore Buns was so delicious, Poori Saahu & Dahi Vada tasted good. Overall we had a wonderful experience taste wise. The ambience and service was good. Restrooms available. The price was on the higher side but the quality of the food was so good.

Food at MTR was a delight. Their masala dosa was the best, never had such an amazing dosa elsewhere. Mini thali and bissibeli bhaath were delicious too. As the owners say, the quality of the food is the thing that will bring the customer back to this place! How I wish MTR also had a dine in Mumbai 😟

One of the worst experience i had recently in a Udupi restaurant Note : This review is based only on the items we had ordered... Other items might be good... But m not stepping again to try anything else 1. Veg Cutlet : DONOT TRY THIS... I REPEAT .... DO NOT TRY THIS ... Look at the attached image.... Doesn't even look good.. One of the worst cutlet i have had in my life ... This restaurant should really remove cutlet from its menu.. it's really okay to remove a item from the menu if you can't provide the authentic taste... Cutlets available in Hotel Diana is 1000 times better than this ... My friends told me tat Hotel woodlands serves the best cutlet in town but m yet to try it. 2. Podi Dosa : Again.... Not worth it ... Hotel Swastik Dosa Hut (Behind Woodlands and also in malpe sea walk with a food truck) serves the best podi dosa in town.... Podi dosa in MTR was very very ordinary.... 3. Bisibele baath : Average... Not gonna say this was the worst ... But nothing to praise either.... It was very average when comapred to restaurants branding 4. Coffee and Cold badaam milk : Both were really good.... Really liked the badaam milk I really hope tat only Udupi franchise is below par.... Otherwise MTR wouldn't have been this famous... Definately not visiting again 🙏🏼

This place just shouts taste and quality. The cleanliness and quality of this restaurant is just wonderful. They have a time based menu. Some things become available at 7:30 am some at 9:30, some at 3:30 and some are all day. Do visit on a sunday to have the Chandrahara sweet. Manglore buns are lovely and the coffee is to die for. We tasted almost everything on the menu and we loved it all. If you get a chance, do try the specials that are put up on the board when you enter.

One of my favourite places in Udupi to have a nice breakfast or to have great dosas at any time of the day! Ragi dosa has become my new favourite dosa from MTR!! It tastes so unique😋, you don't even feel like ragi! It's so soft and healthy as well. Service is great, staff are good and the place has a good ambience. Can be visited with family and friends or dine alone as well. Parking space is also available. Here is the list of food items that I have tried and it's ratings: Ragi Dosa: 5⭐ Masala Dosa: 4.5 ⭐ Set dosa: 4 ⭐ Rava Masala dosa: 4.5 ⭐ Rava dosa: 4 ⭐ Bonda soup: 4 ⭐ Mangalore Buns: 4 ⭐ Bisi bele bath: 4.5 ⭐ Mini meals: 4 ⭐ Coffee: 4.5 ⭐ Don't forget to try Ragi dosa once from here!

MTR maintains its quality, true to its brand name even at Udupi. Only khara Bhath didn't meet expectations but otherwise the best!

My family and I had the pleasure of dining at MTR Restaurant Udipi, and it turned out to be an unforgettable experience that perfectly blended tradition and taste. Mini meals were a true masterpiece, offering a tantalizing selection of curries and accompaniments The Special meals took our taste buds on a delightful journey, offering an even more intricate blend of flavors and textures. We savored the perfectly puffed Poori paired with a classic potato masala, and the Masala Dosa was a crispy delight filled with a delectable potato filling that left us craving more. What truly impressed us were the authentic flavors that MTR Restaurant Udipi presented.Adding to the charm of the experience were the banner boards placed in every corner, proudly displaying the restaurant's impressive 99-year history. This touch of history added an extra layer of significance to our meal, making us feel like part of something truly special. The service was impeccable, MTR Restaurant Udipi is an absolute must-visit. With its inviting ambiance, genuine flavors, and a touch of history, it's a place where you can savor the legacy of South Indian cuisine and create memories that will last a lifetime. Highly recommended

Would highly recommend this place who is looking a good South Indian meal. The best part is that they serve Masala Dosa even during lunch hours, which other highly-rated places don't. Every dish that we had was nice. Do not miss out on the Dahi Vada, and to end the meal with a cup of coffee.

Since 1924. Great fast food joint. Food is good and so is the ambience. The interiors will give you insights into the history and the legend of MTR. Service can improve although its not that bad. Couldn't find a building parking. Had to park outside in the inside roads. Even if parking is available (which I am uncertain of), there is no one to guide you. The place is most importantly hygienic.

I had a decent experience at MTR in udupi. I had Rava masala dosa, rava onion masala, masala dosa, bisibele bath and chandrahara. The rava masala dosa and rava onion masala were great. Highly recommended to try those. Masala dosa was OK, and the extra ghee that comes separate was a plus. The sambar was amazing bit the chutney was not pure coconut and was OK. Bisibele bath was decent and so was the filter coffee but the chandrahara sweet was pretty good which is available only on Sundays. The restaurant doesn't have much ambience or air conditioning. The staff service was not up to the mark with delays and not properly attending( having attitude maybe). A one time visit can be done to have a taste of their food.

Well the brand speaks for itself. A very good place offering lip smacking delicacies in the temple town. This place shares the compound with the luxury boutique hotel Samanvay. Hygiene and service is top notch. Parking space is almost nonexistent and one has to park on the road. Apart from that, a very good place.

We had masala dosa and poori bhaji for breakfast. Expensive place and food taste/service is not worth the price. Masala dosa was thick & hard. Quantity of bhaji in poori bhaji was very less.

MTR - MAVALLI TIFFEN ROOMS ; based in Bengaluru, has its branch in Udupi. You would have heard MTR rava idly mix , Gulaab mix. Basically These restaurants share a brief history, dated back to world war 2. Affordable and staffs are well mannered.

MTR Udupi is renowned for its authentic South Indian cuisine. The dosas are crisp, and the sambar has a perfect blend of flavors. Don't miss their filter coffee—it's a delightful way to end your meal!

Mini meals and Special meals were not good. Curd rice was good. More sourness in sambar. Service is also not up to the mark.

A legendary place and a brand that needs no introduction. Excellent food, but a little heavy on the pocket though. Tried their mangalore buns, akki roti, fresh fruit ice cream, open masala dosa and their filter coffee. Located very close to the highway at kinnimulki.
