PRIVATE BOAT BOOKING SERVICE

DTPC operates several boat services; please check their website as itenary may change time to time. I took the Kollam to Alleppey boat. It was a great experience. Below are my comments. This boat service is government operated and hence cheaper than others. This service was used by locals for commuting between places along the water way. However, now few locals use this as other means of transport are available. Mostly tourists only use this. The boat runs from Kollam to Alleppey and Alleppey to Kollam on alternate days. Contact their office to get exact days and time of run. There are two halts for lunch and evening snacks. Please carry drinking water as there is nothing onboard. You may also carry some snacks as per your need. The total journey from Kollam to Alleppey takes 8 hours. The scenery is good but 8 hours may be too much. It was for me. We got down at the snacks stop. You can take ticket for in between stops also and get down there. You can then take other means of transport like bus.

Such a wonderful place to have a boat journey.. especially during summer. You will love the climate and it will be a good hide out from the hot sun. Journey is not much costly if you have enough people in your group to share the cost. Food is delicious including local fish dishes. Nice hospitality by the staff. It really worth the money

It's very beautiful place, very close to Kollam KSRTC Bus stand. House boats are available for site viewing of Astamudi Back water

Just opposite to the KSRTC bus stand and along the newly transformed link road, a series of docking booths with house boats anchored are seen that opens to the backwaters. A little further to this space is the official state government boat service station where quite a lot of house boats are anchored. One can make booking to any desired type of the house boat from the registered office.

Good place and very close to ksrtc Kollam. You can book good journeys from here all the time. But sometimes it's smell becomes awful

Finally our houseboats hv got a decent berthing point. Our guests needn't balance over multiple boats to reach their boat. In all 6piers letting 12 boats a time. This is in addition to the quay operated by public transport, district tourism and incredible India Hope to see private yatches mooring here soon
