Very informative and the artistry is amazing! Their replication of humans is some of the best I have seen. They also illustrate the sacrifice that was made by our American troops 101st Airborne to save our planet from the evils of the Third Reich. The photo of the house is where Hitler conducted business in 1940.

Amazing experience! My son and I took a private day tour with the museums owner/curator, Johnny, who was awesome! He was extremely knowledgeable and you can tell he is passionate about the battle. The museum was well laid out and nicely done with lots of artifacts. If you are interested in WW2 and the Battle of the Bulge this is a must see in Bastogne!

If you're in Bastogne you have to visit this place. Though confined to a fairly limited space this private museum uses the full potential of the building it is located in. On my personal opinion the most important place is the cellar part with "the bombing experience". This is the side of war that many tend to forget but is indeed the most important. A huge praise to the nicest, kindest, best receptionist ever. This lady, speaking perfect English, took her time to talk to me about the experience I had on Bastogne.

The 101 Airborn Museum is one of the most authentic museums I have ever seen! I had no expectations of the not so big building. I was very excited that there was such an original collection of material uniforms and figures on all floors! Many thanks to the friendly staff and the US companions of the 99-year-old veteran of the Battle of the Bulg! I will be very happy to come and visit again. Kind regards, White Wolfi

A fantastic museum based on the 101st airborne easy company. The museum has lots of pictures taken during the second world war, artifacts and mock ups of warfare behind glass windows. There are also some generous donations to the museum made by the soldiers and families of soldiers who fought and were stationed in the area. A great place to visit and not too large, so can be viewed in a couple of hours. Such museums as this bring the local history to life and leave you with a renewed sense of respect for the brave men and women who were here during such a challenging time in history.

Schönen Gruß an Johnny Bona

The 101st Airborne Museum Le Mess in Bastogne is located in the former officers mess building of the Belgium Army. A big collection of original items of the Bulge with authentic reconstructions and very realistic mannequins makes this museum worthwhile to visit. Different scenes bring you back to life during wartime in settings during winter. I found this museum to be the best museum in the area which focuses on the Battle of the Bulge and The Battle of Bastogne. In my opinion, you could skip the Bastogne War Museum and miss nothing of importance. This is the place to go.

This is THE must see museum in Bastogne. Don’t waste your time with the other one in the town as this has the best collection of artefacts connected to the battle there that you’ll hope to find. It’s perfectly laid out and some great dioramas as well as relics and personal effects from the battle that make you realise how desperate the situation was there nearly 80 years ago. A fine tribute to those who fought in defence of the town and the staff who maintain it today!

Definitely one of the best museums I ever visited in my life! Bombing simulation is an unforgettable experience, quite sad, which give us a very small taste of how it was to live in such bad times as WW2. A bit tight, but the quality and care for every single detail is just fantastic. Here you will receive a lot, for the price of ticket!

Another great museum dedicated to the 101st Airborne. I three story building with a basement, so get ready for some stairs. They have plenty of actual recovered relics from the siege of Bastogne and an incredible bomb shelter exhibit / simulator.

Awesome museum!! Tons of interesting artifacts. I love the scenes re-creations. It gives you a feel of what it was really like. The bomb shelter is so cool!! Don't miss it!! It's really loud thought so it's probably not a good idea to bring in little kids. Well worth a visit. They take card

We often stop in Bastogne for a break on our way to Brussels. However, this time we specifically did a day trip to visit a museum and eat at the train restaurant. The museum is very interesting IMO. Since it’s not a big place, one tends to read and look at nearly everything on display. The wax figures look very real. Made me think how it was during that time and what soldiers and people go through this day while there is a war going on. The air bombing simulation was also interesting. Imagine hearing all that noise day and night not knowing what will happen to you or others. Entrance fee is 12 euros pax.

If you are near Bastogne you should visit this museum. The collection of artifacts is amazing and causes some reflection. There are soldier's items that were with them when they perished, as well as details of some of them. They are even selling some items that would amaze collectors.

Truly excellent museum, bringing WW2 very close to you, in particular the Battle of the Bulge, with thousands of items and weapons found in the battlefield and brilliant recreations of war scenes, civilians, a bomb shelter, real recordings and sound effects. The building itself was used as headquarterd by the Germans during the war. If you only visit one war museum in Bastogne, make it this one.

Great experience... and it is an experience. Dioramas have been extremely well presented and authentic. The bomb shelter is a must. Go and have the experience so that writing doesn't spoil it for you!

Absolutely a humbling experience. I went on a Battle Staff Ride in Bastogne and this was on of our last stops. It's impossible not to get emotional when walking through this museum and trying to even fathom the conditions the men and women endured during this war. I am extremely grateful I was able to experience this museum especially as a service member in the Army.

This museum was much better than expected. Text in the museum was also in English and the nice lady at the desk also talked English! The museum has some nice diorama's, very realistic! And it has a lot of artifacts. There is also a bomb shelter, which is a real experience. Overall: it is worth a visit!

A very powerful and moving museum to visit, with a broad collection of artifacts. Definitely a must see for anyone interested in the 101st airborne, the siege of Bastogne, and those intrigued by the Band of Brothers series. The wax/life size models and the exhibit in the basement simulating the Christmas Eve shelling experienced in Bastogne was particularly moving.

  • 5/5 Sean M. 1 year ago on Google
An amazing tribute to the Soldiers of the 101st who fought at Bastogne. Countless artifacts and well done dioramas, by curators who obviously put a lot of effort into the exhibits. The building, a 1930s Officers Mess is also very cool! Prices were reasonable.

It is a great museum for any WWII buff and especially any 101 "Screaming Eagle" vet. Lots of history and artifacts from the "Battle of the Budge." By far, the coolest thing is the "bomb shelter" display and experience in the basement.

  • 5/5 Patrickzxm 1 year ago on Google
A 4 levels exhibit of war related items and many facts about the military operations in and around Bastogne during the Battle of the Bulge. Some memorabilia for sale (for a significant cost) Interesting collection of american and german items from the daily life - food, coffee, cigarettes, personal care. Some brands still exist today. You can experiment sensations of aerial and artillery attacks within a simulator located at the basement .

  • 5/5 M M. 8 months ago on Google
This is an absolute gem of a museum! To start with, the building was in use by the 101st during WW2 and it still looks very authentic. The tourist flyer you can find about this place is much less fancy and much smaller than that of other major museum sites, but don't let that small cheap flyer fool you. What you can see in this museum is quite surprising, atleast it was to me. One thing that really sticks out for example are the human displays. Nearly all museums use some form of fashion store puppet, or at best a heavily modified version of it with actual face details. But here, they have use Madame Tussauds fullsize type wax-models!! The replica's of the actual people are so well done and they have tried to replicate several authentic scene's from photo's by using these models. The second amazing thing is the bomb-shelter simulator. It is really well done, with crystal clear sounds, but very loud indeed! I have to be honest and say that it is quite an unpleasant and therefor authentic experience. I would recommend it, but if it was a movie, I would give it an over-16years old-label. And not for people that get scared easily. Another thing that is very nice, is the hologram type display of an artillery crew in action and received comms over the radio, which puts you right in the scene as if you were there. Last but not least, the entire museum breathes this nice authentic atmosphere, unlike most of the bigger and new ones.

Amazing museum showcasing the 101st Airborne and all the equipment and history to go along with it. Centered within an authentic WWII era building, the mannequins inside paint a picture of the past of the hardships these soldiers faced and the equipment at their disposal. Also a great live action bombing presentation in the basement to catch a glimpse of what a family may have experienced in the midst of an attack.

Fantastic museum! Much better than the huge Bastogne war museum in the East of the city. Biggest attraction is the bunker in the basement of the building, where you can experience what it was to hide as a civilian during the fight in Bastogne with terrific audiovisual effects.

Fantastic museum. After reading a few reviews of the museums in the area this is the one we decided on and so glad we did. The whole set up over several floors is amazing. They have set up scenes from photos and of different moments during the siege. Best part, free parking 5 minute walk away. Not like the other museum where they make you pay for parking even to see the memorial, which seems a rip off especially if you only wanted to pay your respects.

Amazing!! One-of-a-kind place, the crew running it, and the experience overall!! All original items, including General Patton’s personal and worldwide renown artifacts, such as his first general’s star, his famous coat and his crop, among many others; immensely expressive dioramas with breathtaking feel of being taken back in time at the first glance at them, and the reconstructed 3D bomb-shelter experience for the bravest- monitored for all around safety- just to name a few. Worthy returning time after time- always a new adventure with such knowledgeable, engaged and engaging staff and touched visitors and guests, that always spark endless conversations, discussions, story-sharing, new friendships sparkling and way beyond. Unforgettable!!
