(SEZ)
was
established
through
Government
Regulation
Number
29
of
2012
on
27
February
2012
and
is
the
first
SEZ
in
Indonesia
which
was
inaugurated
into
operation
by
President
Joko
Widodo
on
27
January
2015.
The
Sei
Mangkei
SEZ
which
is
located
in
North
Sumatra
Province
has
The
main
business
is
the
palm
oil
and
rubber
industry
and
is
focused
on
becoming
a
center
for
the
development
of
large
scale
and
international
quality
downstream
palm
oil
and
rubber
industries.
As
an
industrial
area
located
in
the
center
of
agro-based
raw
materials
and
close
to
the
Malacca
Strait,
KEK
Sei
Mangkei
also
has
supporting
businesses,
namely
logistics
and
tourism.
With
a
total
land
area
of
2,002.7
ha,
the
Sei
Mangkei
SEZ
is
open
to
other
industrial
potential,
especially
in
the
downstream
sector
with
high
added
value.
SEZ
Sei
Mangkei
is
supported
by
infrastructure
inside
and
outside
the
area.
Access
from
SEZ
Sei
Mangkei
to
the
Sumatra
highway
is
approximately
10
km,
the
distance
to
Kuala
Tanjung
Harbor
is
approximately
40
km
and
the
distance
to
Kualanamu
International
Airport
is
approximately
110
km.
By
the
end
of
2016,
the
flow
of
investment
from
business
actors
for
industrial
activities
in
the
Sei
Mangkei
SEZ
had
reached
IDR
3.52
trillion
and
is
planned
to
reach
IDR
5.52
trillion
by
the
end
of
2017.
When
fully
operational
in
2025,
this
SEZ
is
projected
to
attract
total
investment
of
IDR
129
trillion
and
contributes
to
GRDP
of
IDR
92.1
trillion
per
year.
