Sri Bakthavatsala Perumal temple is a Hindu temple, located at Thirunindravur, a western suburb of Chennai, India, is dedicated to the Hindu deity Vishnu. Constructed in the Dravidian style of architecture, the temple is glorified in the Divya Prabandha, the early medieval Tamil canon of the Azhwar saints from the 6th–9th centuries CE. It is one of the 108 Divyadesam dedicated to Vishnu, who is worshipped as Bhaktavatsala Perumal and his consort Lakshmi as Ennai Petra Thayar. The temple is believed to have been built by the Pallavas of the late 8th century CE, with later contributions from Medieval Cholas and Vijayanagar kings. A granite wall surrounds the temple, enclosing all the shrines and two bodies of water. There is a four-tiered rajagopuram, the temple's gateway tower, in the temple. Bhatavatsala Perumal is believed to have appeared to Kubera. Six daily rituals and three yearly festivals are held at the temple, of which the Krishna Janmasthami festival, celebrated during the Tamil month of Aavani (August–September), being the most prominent. The temple is maintained and administered by the Hindu Religious and Endowment Board of the Government of Tamil Nadu. The temple was built during the Pallava period of 9th century as seen from the various inscriptions in the temple. The earliest inscriptions of the temple is dated between 820 and 890 CE during the period of Nripatungavarman. There are inscriptions from the later Chola kings like Rajendra Chola II (1051–1063 CE), Virarajendra Chola (1063–1070 CE) and Rajaraja Chola II (1146–1173 CE). The Pallava inscriptions mention this place as Ninravur and some of them quote it asVirudhurajabhayankar-chaturvertimangalam, a sub-division of Punarkottam.

Ancient temple built in 6th Century. This is 58 th Divya Desam. The temple is praised by Thirumangai alwar. Moolavar is Sri Bakthavatsala Perumal and the the goddess is arulmighu Ennai petra thayar. Perumal is in standing posture. Once due to some reasons, Mother Lakshmi (Thiru) left Perumal and came & stayed here. Hence, this place is called as Thiruninravur. According to scriptures, when Kubera lost his wealth, he came worshipped Lakshmi here & got his wealth back. Separate shrines for Adhiseshan, Chakrathazwar, Ramanujar, Vishwaksenar, Andal are here. Parking ok. Irudayaleeswar & Eri kaatha Ramar & Hanuman temples are very nearer to this temple.

Awestruck on seeing this temple from outside, Mezmerized on entering inside. The cows and calves welcome the devotees. The presiding diety Lord vishnu blesses here as bakthavatchala perumal and his consort goddess lakshmi as என்ன petra thayar. Was blessed to have very close Darshan at the sanctum sanctorum. The priests are so kind enough to explain the history and beauty of this serene temple. This temple is 58th of the total 108 divya desham. The stone pillars, inscriptions talk a lot about the beauty and history of this temple.

ஆங்கிலத்தில் எழுதுவதற்கு மன்னிக்கவும் . What a wonderful day it was. Started in bike around 7 am. I didn't have the slightest clue that it was Thai Ammavasai (தை அம்மாவாசை). My original plan was to visit the Hrudayaaleeswarar shiva Temple (இருதயலீசுவரர் கோயில்), but decided i will visit all the temples in the area. Wonderful ride on the outer ring road. had some traffic upto poonamallee, after that it was not that crowded. Entered the temple, felt so happy to visit the temple after nearly seven to eight years again. Wonderful darshan of the Goddess and Lord Balaji. Was thinking why i didn't take photos when i came 8 years before, probably was not interested in temple architecture / construction at that time. hmmmm. As i was coming out, at the temple entrance, was trying to adjust my dhothi, another person who was going in, a local i presume, was giving theertham which he had got from one of his temple visits. Not sure why or what, he came to me and gave me the theertham too, was happy to take the same. Felt sad my wife didnt join me in this wonderful trip i had. Temple faces east, Rajagopuram faces east, Kodimaram present. Temple tank is at the back of the temple, which as per locals belongs to the perumal temple. Wanted to cry out aloud to see the sorry state in which the temple tank is being kept. The flower selling lady was telling me that drainage was being pumped into that temple tank till recently, and the drains were closed / stopped, when government officials visited the area. My god, even now people don't realise how precious the water is, and how people / kings in the past, understood the importance of water, in order to SAVE the water they built these temple tanks and gave it to the temple administration assuming people will not pollute it. But our people.....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! oh forgot to mention, a toilet is present just outside the temple, near the compound wall, amazingly and surprisingly it was clean and neat (don't expect foreign standard), and most importantly running water was present.

A must visit Shriman Naarayana perumal temple. And also Yeri Kaatha ramar temple located here. The outer area and roads cleanliness is a big question, Just a few metres away we can worship Hirudaya Aalaya eswarar Bhagavan Siva temple. The people especially our religious followers must take initiative (the TN government will never do, instead they will try to collapse the temple and our history Marvel). Wake up call for all our people to save these kinds of important temples and their heritage, Many information (like different temples around tamilnadu with significant, Pooja methods etc.,) displayed on the inside of the temple wall. You can see Tamil sculptures on a few temple wall pillars, many of them gone. Surprisingly the temple management used dishwash powder to clean the temple premises which is a shocking incident when we visited the temple.

This is moderate size Temple. There is ample parking for two wheelers and cars (on the road side) Moolavar (Deity) is very attractive. Direct opposite to this Temple, there is a Anjaneyar Temple. Very near by (walkable distance) there is Hridayaleeswarar Shiva Temple and Sri Ramar Temple. Sri Ramar is very beautiful. There is Ramanuja Kootam adjacent to the Temple (first floor). During the lunch time, you will get excellent prasadam. If you get a chance try the Prasad and make your contribution to the kainkaryam.

Neatly maintained temple. The goddess name is Arulmigu Ennai Petra Thayar (meaning - mother who gave birth to me). She is like mother who cares and saves us. The name signifies so much of care. Andal, Adhiseshan sannadhis were very beautiful. In Each Sannidhi they have written a board on some pariharam (solution) for each problem we face in life. Its a very peaceful temple. Probabky i visited in a non festival time and working day. A must see temple

An ancient temple offering great darshan of Lord Baktavatsala, Goddess Enna Petra Thayaar, Narasimhar, Chakrathalwar and Adiseshan. There's also a very ancient temple of Lord Rama (made from Aththimaram) that is about 150 meters from this temple, that should not be missed.

Visited the temple located at Thirunindravur in the Tamil month of Puratasi on the 4th Saturday 2022. We could get the Bakthavatchala perumal dharisanam in the afternoon only after getting stuck in quite a crowd of people. The temple admin must have organised the dharisanam queues in much better way than the bad experience we've gone through. Annadhanam offered in the temple was really good. Outsiders food offering was also really nice and a timely relief for those couldn't bear the lengthy queue.

Ancient temple. Long desire to visit this temple. Battacharyas' explanation in detail about Thayar was superb. Requires maintenance in the front portion of Rajagopuram. A pleasant dharshan.

One of the 108 Divya Deshams, this is a calm temple with the Lord in standing posture. Thaayar has a separate shrine. There are separate shrines for Garudalwar, Chakratalwar, Andal and as an unique one, for Adiseshan. Parking is available in plenty around the temple.

This temple is famous in nearby locality and with others as well becoz this temple is one of 108 divyadesam. But maintenance is poor. Temple management can improve by building restrooms, shops, hand washer, Slipper stand etc which are not available at present. Only during Brahmotsavam ( which are celebrated in grand matter) , shops are flooded, rest of the time, the place is lonely. There is also a lord shiva temple opposite to this temple and Eerikaatha raamar behind the temple which gives wonderful view of the lake. But again poor maintenance. Requesting management to develop the temple and use the resources to it's fullest potentials. L Reviews on 7-5-2023

This temple is one of the 108 Divya desam temples of lord Vishnu. Located quite close to the hrudayaleshwarar temple, this temple is dedicated to lord Vishnu in the form of Bhaktavatsala Perumal. The architecture is quite ancient and exudes great vibes. There is ample space for vehicle parking here as well. It is a beautiful well maintained temple.
