Mosaic of Tirana is a unique piece of art not found in the coastline where usualy civilitation was established in the first centuries of our era. Thought to be part of a Roman house and clasified from the arceologist that discovered the site as the third century AC, the mosaic still resist and it is well conserved and fenced to be protected as a part of arceological and cultural heritage of Tirana city as a capital of Albania. Since 73, the site is proclamed as culture monument and included in the list of arceological sites of Albania.

(Translated by Google) It's a startling museum about the atrocities of communism, though we've been to a few similar places. Sound, light effects and artistic installations also enhance the effect, very moving, creepy, scary. Anyone who is a little interested in the horrors of history and communist dictatorships should definitely visit. It is close to Skanderbég Square with an entrance fee of 500 LEK, which is approx. $ 5,000.

Pretty good experience to learn more about Albanian History specially during the war. 500 LEK to enter, I’d say it’s worth the fee and will take you about 20-30mins depending on whether you read all the descriptions on each room. We went on a Monday so was not very crowded

It’s a very interesting museum to visit. The underground area is much bigger than I expected. Shows a lot of photos, videos and some Installation arts. A great place to spend an hour or so when you are in the city.

We really enjoyed the exhibition and it was a perfect introduction to modern Albanian history. In some moments it was very emotional for us mostly because our country Czechia (which used to be Czechoslovakia) shares a very similar communist history. The museum was large and it took us over two hours to go through all of the rooms. This is a must when you’re in Tirana for sure!

Great place to visit, and see all the different rooms. They all have different exhibitions. I suggest going with time, since there is a lot to read and learn about some Albanian history Incredible structure underground, with lots of rooms Massive concrete roof I'll recommend a visit The entry is 600 ALL per person The only downside is that the app to see the AR is not available in the app store

I’ll never know if this is better to visit than House of Leaves or Bunk’Art 1. Either way you will look at older Albanian people differently afterwards, obtaining a slight understanding of what they lived through. So it is worth the visit, seeing either this museum or one of the others. I’m not sure it matters exactly which specific one as there is an overlap, so choose one and get it done. Bring lek — euro or card aren’t accepted.

Definitely one of the places to visit in Tirana. Some of the displays are rather dry (a lot of writing and written in a way that feels like it was a librarian who wrote it), but the experience overall is pretty neat - and these bunkers (there are tens of thousands of them) form a unique part of Albanian history/culture. Everything is translated in both Albanian and English.

Best museum of the ones we visited in Tirana. Has all the history you get in the House of Leaves with much more. Great English info panels. A couple art pieces throughout.

Incredible museum that really is more like two museums in one. The first being the actual bunker which was built in the 1980s but never used and the second being a historical walk-through of life in Albania during the communist era. There is a lot of reading involved in the self guided tour but it is very rich in history and personal stories.

(Translated by Google) I visited it with my family. We come from Ravenna for this was one of the main points of interest of our holiday. Considering the historical and cultural value it is really a pity to find such a precarious state of conservation. For mosaics, a covering like the existing one that protects in a minimal part from the climate is not enough but they should be further protected by glass plates so as to avoid wear and color changes of the same. However beautiful! Comunque bello!

This museum is well worth visiting and you should plan at least 1hr + There are lots of different rooms as you walk through the old nuclear bunker. You can earn about the formation of the secret police and how people were toured and killed. It's not for the faint hearted and be prepared to read a lot of the different explanations.

A truly unique and interesting experience. This place was absolutely unreal and the bunkers just kept going and going and going. There were heaps of old furniture, telephones, original fixtures and information about the history and political climate at the time. Very stuffy and damp in some places, but it adds to the experience. Cash only and you can pay Euro or LEK. Enjoy

Bunk’art 2 was a really interesting way of telling the history of Albania through wartime and its independence! This museum really outlined the difficulties experienced, the struggle they fought through and the horrendous acts carried out under some leaders It’s a lot of reading in here so prefer for that. It is cash only and on the more expensive side at 700LEK/€7

Bunk'art 2 in Tirana offers a chilling journey into Albania's history, housed in a former nuclear bunker. The museum provides a haunting perspective on the country's communist era, showcasing the stark reality of a once-secretive regime. The immersive exhibits and preserved rooms evoke a sense of unease, highlighting the eerie atmosphere of the underground facility. It's a sobering experience that vividly portrays the fear and oppression faced by Albanians during that period, making Bunk'art 2 a must-visit for those interested in a spine-tingling glimpse into the past.

The ancient Tirana Mosaic it is believed to have been part of a 3rd century Roman house, referred to by local archeologists as the 'Villa rustica'. Later, in the 5th and 6th centuries, a Paleo-Christian Basilica was built around this site. It was declared a cultural monument of the first category in June 1973. The ruins of this Paleo-Christian Basilica were discovered in 1972. In 2002, some other objects were found around the ruins of the house, and today they form the Archaeological Complex of the Mosaic of Tirana.

The Bunker entrance costs 500 Lek if you want to discover by yourself. They offer a guide for 1000 Lek more. The exhibition shows how the communist regime failed. It’s a gloomy and scary atmosphere with sounds and film. The Bunker have lots of rooms where you can go and see some parts of the revolution but also the bedroom of the minister.

Is it real or is it a joke?? Better to cancel it from the map. It is located inside the defence ministy teritory and yo need to be accompanied in . I tried 3 times to go and the best answer I got at the guar point was "if you know someone of the museum call him to come and pick you up because they don't answer us at the phone". Very bad also because on the paper it is very intresting due to the presence of chinese and domestic equipments impossible to fin in any other museum in Europe

This is not really what I was expecting when I heard that there is a bunker which supposed to withstand atomic impact. Nevertheless, it is not so much about the bunker, but more about the history of Albanian people and this is really worth to see. What they have suffered over many many years is incredible. Not so many new nations have suffered so much. Go and visit. Read all those historical stories which is at the beginning a little bit boring but one after another is the really interesting. Then you’ll find also some interesting experiments. I really recommend to go there. I gave four stars because I thought it is a atomic bunker, but nevertheless still worth to see

Every room has a lot to read. It’s more of an history museum than a bunker. I spent about 2.5 hours inside reading. Price / cost 500

This fantastic conversion – from a massive Cold War bunker on the outskirts of Tirana into a history and contemporary art museum – is Albania's most exciting new sight and easily a Tirana highlight. With almost 3000 sq metres of space underground spread over several floors, the bunker was built for Albania's political elite in the 1970s and remained a secret for much of its existence. Now it hosts exhibits that combine the modern history of Albania with pieces of contemporary art.

(Translated by Google) A beautiful experience. My boyfriend wanted to go there for two years. Last year we were unable to visit it because non-Albanian citizens need to send a request to the email address that is on the web page 3-4 days before. The museum is open from Monday to Thursday from 9.00 to 16.30 and on Friday from 09.00 to 14.00. For males, you need to wear long trousers otherwise they won't let you in. The museum is not huge but very interesting. There are two areas to visit, the outside and the inside. Outside there are numerous military vehicles including planes, armored vehicles and various types of jeeps. The highlights of the exhibition are the two MiGs and the MIL. Helicopter, instead, you dive into the history of Albania from the time of Skenderbeu until the end of the cold war. You will find a vast assortment of English, German, Italian and Soviet weapons, as well as kalashnikov made in Albania, proudly brandished by the staff. In addition, numerous Chinese-built apparatuses, used by the Albanian army over the years, are also exhibited. The staff is extremely affable, informed and involves the visitor on the tour, inviting him continuously to interact with the numerous exhibits. Highly recommended if you want to learn more about the history of the Cold War in Albania. (Original) Un'esperienza bellissima.

(Translated by Google) The mosaic of Tirana is the only archeological monument within the territory of the city of Tirana. In 1972, during the work on building the blocks of the "Partizani" block in the neighborhood no. 9 of the city of Tirana, the ruins of an antique building were discovered, one of which was paved with mosaics. According to the authors, we are dealing with a village center of the first centuries AD since the beginning of the century. III was replaced by a rural cottage (rustica). An equipped mosaic room and an apside were its main ambience. The authors also think that in the twentieth century. V-VI the place of the villa occupied a Paleochristian basilica. The excavated part of the monument was surrounded and protected by the Institute of Monuments of Culture (IMK). During the years 2003-2004, the works of the systemisation of different roads and installations of the block "Partizani" discovered near the monument of the other parts of the complex. The most important here were the tubs of fermentation of grape must, but also other parts of the walls in two different points. (Translated by Google) The mosaic in itself represents not only a cultural and artistic value but is important because it testifies to the existence of social life already in antiquity in the Tirana area. The mosaic is part of a rustic Roman villa of the second century after Christo. However until now only this villa has been found and there are no other excavations to highlight if it was an insula (urban area). Historically Tirana (which means Ti-r-ana = të rri anash-- stand on the sides of the river) as an urban center is documented at the beginning of the 17th century, the year 1610 recognizes the construction of the first mosque, pazzar, hamam, the baker and other typical Muslim constructions made by Sulejman Pasha Bargjini an Albanian noble part of the Ottoman administration.

According to the authors, we have to do with a village center of the first centuries AD since the beginning of the century. III was replaced by a rural cottage (rustica). The mosaic room with an abbey was its main ambiance. The authors also think that in the nineteenth century. V-VI the place of the villa occupied a paleochristian basilica. The excavated part of the monument was surrounded and protected by the Institute of Monuments of Culture (IMK). During the years 2003-2004, the works of the systemisation of various roads and installations of the block "Partizani" discovered near the siege of the monument other parts of the complex. The most important here were the tubs of fermentation of grape must, but also other parts of the walls in two different points.

An admirable attempt to grapple with the difficult questions and the painful history of Albania. As someone from Latvia, a country occupied by the Soviet Union for 50 years, I recognise the effort and a certain type of bravery these conversations demand of us today - dealing with external enemies and trespassers against us is one thing, dealing with collaborators, enforcers and pure evil from your own midst is another. But when we confront the past head on, without any excuses or romanticisation, we are set free. I have to be honest, the inclusion of Albania’s pre-Hoxha history was a tad confusing and did not seem to fit the context of the whole exhibition, especially since the bunker and its exhibition is promoted as one solely connected to the communist era. What really hit home and served as the main message delivered to me as a visitor? Don't forget the horrors that authoritarianism brings. And beware.

Interesting museum in a bunker mostly dedicated to the secret police of the communist regime, with some creative exhibits. The beginning of the exhibition covers the history of police forces in Albania, and might be going in too much details for foreigners. Not as good as the (excellent) original Bunk'Art, however it is so conveniently located that it'd be a shame to miss it

Bunkart is popular museum in Tirana, there are 2 of them. One is next to main square and second one little bit faraway from the city. You will learn about the history with interactive way. The price is around 5e. If you are in Tirana - highly recommend.

I went there without knowning what was inside. Nice place and full of historic photos but also gadgets, guns and clothes that people wore during the communism era. It is a very big place and it took me more than one hour and a half to explore the underground bunker! You can easily buy the tickets there (no need for reservation) and it will cost you 500ALL. I absolutely recommend this place!

Very great historic place. Albania had a very bloody history, and they preserved it well. Bunk art is an amazing place with the difficult history Albanian had. It shows the dark side of socialist governments of the 20th century.

To understand todays Albania and its history, best place to visit. Pictures, voices, films are placed to underground cells. There are historical objects and furnitures but most of them are not guarded well. We could touch everything. I think authorities should guard objects better. All in all, There are lessons to be learned by every human being from this place… you can easily buy tickets when you enter, there were no queue on Sunday, February.

A short walk from Dajti Express - you can park next to the ticket booth or alternatively on the street: - ticket is 500lek - cash only, - walkt to the entrance uphill 5 min, - history of Albania is displayed in most of the bunker's 106 rooms. - some rooms are upkept as during the era - the biggest one is assembly hall, - some rooms contain artistic installations. All in all, super worth visiting even though it is depressing and sad.

Without no doubt: an Impressive work has been done here. Albania is coping with one of its worst nightmares. Well done documentation and acurate descriptions. Worthy to spend at least an hour to dive in Albanias dark past - actually human‘s dark past as you recognize patterns of power abuse in all kind of nations‘ histories. Nice staff by the way! And: take cash with you.

It was a really nice museum and pretty big as well which I didn't expect. I'm putting 4 stars only because I think that 7€ for the general ticket it's a bit expensive, without any discounts for students. In any case it's definitely worth visiting if you interested in the history of Albania.

This is one of the two important large museums located in the center of Tirana and telling the history of Albania; House of Leaves & BunkArt 2. Interestingly, this is the more popular one but it has nothing when you visit the other one firstly. Since they constantly bring tourist groups here, there is always an endless line of people in front of it. And there is no significant extra content/information inside. You can visit it only if you want to see the historical "bunker" structure and feel that dullness and constriction closely. However, if your goal is to learn more about history and see real historical products and displays, you should go to the other museum. If you have limited time or money during your trip, I recommend you visit the other museum (House of Leaves Museum) first.

This is always good to have museum for remembrance of the years of lies and killing of the communist dictatorship in Eastern Europe. Quotation like the one below were once forbidden in Tirana: The thief comes only so that he can steal and kill and destroy; I have come so that they may have life, and have it abundantly. "I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. (The Bible)

We spent 2 hours here reading every single bit of information. It's a lot to take in. Every exhibit has an English translation so there is quite a bit of reading. Most people seemed to breeze past through everything but this depends on what you want to get out of the exhibit. The exhibit is thorough and put together in an interesting way combining video, murals, artefacts etc. The videos also have English subtitles.

Cool place of what the ministry of internal affairs would have used for nuclear and chemical attacks. Information based on the formation of military/law enforcement followed by lots of detail on the albanian secret servo e during communist regime. 500 lek entry. English translations were average, the detail can be missed but not entirely unintelligible.

You need to visit Bunk Art 1 first to fully understand what’s going on. The place does not give you any introduction or background to the history. You can easily skip the first 3 rooms of the police history before WW2 as it has no relevance to what happens after. In summer the Place is really warm and stuffy. Bring water!

Came here after a conference with some colleagues. Not sure how it holds up as a museum, but it wasn't my cup of tea. A little scary and very depressing, obviously. I do tend to frighten easily though. (+) Affordable. 500 lekes per ticket (about 4 Euro) (+) Great showcase of history, interesting artifacts in the various rooms. (+) Cool VR/3d experience if you download the app available in a few of the rooms. Lots to read in there, if you go in and read everything maybe expect to spend an hour there? Though I didn't feel too comfortable and went through the thing in like 15 minutes.

Creative re-purposing happened at Bunk’Art, an escape bunker originally built for Albania’s long-term communist dictator Enver Hoxha (1941-1985) and his government. A portion of the original five-floor, 106-room underground palace now houses a historical museum and contemporary art gallery, showcasing recreations of how the space would have functioned, with furniture dating back to the original era. Historical exhibitions on the Albanian communist army and daily lives of Albanians during the regime alternate with art installations, while the former assembly hall has been turned into a concert hall.

The researchers think that we are dealing with a Roman villa dating back to the 3rd century AD, where the main floor is decorated with mosaics. Later, the facility is adapted and used as a Paleochristian church, beginning in the middle of the fourth century and onwards. Mosaics mainly contain geometric motifs, but also typical motifs of early Christianity. A communist tomb, the way Albanians remember the cold communism dictatorship. Many well preserved artifacts, documentation, and rooms. Along with artistic works that reflect the history. It’s a place for memory and past nightmares. Be careful when entering it.

Its a museum which reconstructs the history of the Albanian Ministry of Internal Affairs from 1912 to 1991 and reveals the secrets of “Sigurimi”, the political police that was the harsh persecution weapon used by the regime of Enver Hoxha. Victims of communist terror video is showcased at the museum. Good representation of how the things were at war. I liked the sounds that are produced underground like siren, solders marching etc. Guns of those times. Must visit if you are in Tirana. Cost of visiting is 500lek.

This museum offers an introduction to the history of Albania of the 20th century regarding the political affairs and formation of the police and the injustices committed by the dictatorship under the iron fist of Hoxha. If you take the time to read all descriptions, it'll take you around 2 hrs. Don't forget to bring some water because in the summer time it can get quite humid and warm down there. They could invest a bit more money and make it more interactive for all visitors e.g. they have a table where you're asked to find the "bug" (spying microphone) in a table but after 5 minutes of not finding it, I and some other tourists just gave up. It's worth visiting if you're interested on learning a bit more about the political history during the 20th century of Albania

The museum was pretty packed when we visited. It was hard to keep up with the information and the history of the place. There was constantly a new crowd of people coming in and if I was standing for too long in one place I was blocking the way for the people to come through. The ticket was 500 LEK and they only accept cash. There are toilets inside the museum. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend visiting the museum, unless maybe early in the morning when there are not so many people.

The museum is not well thought out. I later learned that this comes from the government not knowing what to do with this bunker, so they just made it I to a museum. The exhibitions feel like they took articles from Wikipedia and posted them on boards and created figures using whatever they had left laying around. The bathrooms are also very dirty and don't even have seats. This really showed how little they do with the proceeds.

Interesting and cool museum to get some insights and learnings on Albania's dark history during the 45-year rule under communism. The bunker contains around 24 rooms in which you can read, see and listen to stories about persecutions during communism, both in English and Albanian. Building itself is an old nuclear bunker which is interesting to see as well.

One of the best museum exhibitions I’ve seen - very engaging content and presented in an engaging way with lots to take in. Go early (at opening time if possible. I went at 9.30am and there were already people waiting for the doors to open) the queue later is phew… Exhibitions are very thoughtful and not gruesome but some of the content may be disturbing for children so good to bear that in mind. They so far only take cash (Lek or Euro in small change). Price is 700 Lek / 7 Euros (very worth it)

This was an amazing experience and it really hits hard to know and understand the atrocities that the people of this country have endured. The museum has a VR option paying 3/4€ more than the normal price of 7€ pp. if you have at least 1/1,5hours it is a stop well worth it and you leave with a heavy heart but happy to have more knowledge of the country you are in. I’m South African and didn’t know much about the Albania history up to this moment.

Interesting place.. well preserved history.. very informative and a bit depressing the agony they lived.. I advise you to download the bunker art app before doing downstairs as there is no cellphone reception and you can use the app as an audio guide

I left with more questions than answers. 80% of the exhibitions were not working. The staff could not speak a word of English. Was scammed into paying euro but my change come back in LEK but short changed. They would not take credit card. The expeditions explanations were very poorly written and did not make sense. This needs a lot of work.
