Beautiful big square! Lovely! Clean, like everything else in Tirana! I wonder how this will look like during the summer with the heat and everything hot! I'd like to see the fountains and have the opportunity to feel it again during another season! Cheers!

Nice huge area, lots of coffee shop around, museum, library and many building are still under construction which looks good. Also Ethem Bey Mosque is situated here. And for those wanting to use public bus transport it is near the mosque.

A mist visit place in tirana. The center of the city where all the business take place. Very big space and a lot of tourist. There’s the national history musuem and a beautiful mosque nearby.

Loved the place! Late November and they were setting up stalls, decorations and all things festive December. Lots of interesting places on and immediately round the square. Round a square! History Museum, a gorgeous mosque, statues, the opera house and more. I'm pretty sure you couldn't avoid the place if you tried. Airport shuttle goes from very nearby too.

The main square in Tirana. It's where most major events take place. There are imposing buildings surrounding thr outside, including the national museum, opera and government buildings. Some cafes also along the outside. Definitely a can't miss when in the city.

Tirana during the Christmas period is a festive delight, with the city adorned in colorful lights and lively decorations. Strolling through Skanderbeg Square, you'll feel the holiday spirit in the air, as locals and visitors alike enjoy the cheerful atmosphere. The city's vibrant energy, combined with seasonal markets and cultural events, creates a warm and welcoming experience. While it's a joyful time to explore Tirana's landmarks, keep in mind that the Christmas period can be bustling, so plan accordingly to make the most of the festive charm without missing out on the city's unique offerings.

This was the third time that I have visited here Albania, Tirana and Skanderbeg Square, but most likely on new year, I haven't seen such thing, especially that fireworks 🎇 Really amazing, mesmerizing, unbelievable. Couldn't even sleep that night, there were many activities and events during that week. But of course most important is Balkan atmosphere.. I wasn't expecting that much but really was cool. Even in summer and winter, only disadvantage is you need to do stock especially when you are visiting as tourist and will stay in hostel or in a flat. 😅 I highly recommend you to visit any time you want, although there are some restricted things to do in Tirana but certainly you will have great time, take every opportunity. Foods as well and many amazing cafés & restaurants. Try traditional cuisine as well :)

It is the heart of the historic city centre. It is a beautiful plaza where you can find the great statue of Skanderbeg, the National Hero that led the rebellion against the Ottoman Empire. It is surrounded by several cultural and historical landmarks, such as the clock tower and the Ethem Bey Mosque, both of which survived decades, nay, centuries of a rich history. Also, you can find good coffee shops near by, especially under the National Opera. Many buses arrive/depart from this plaza, so it is a important commuter point as well.

Nice big open square bounded by cool buildings, some trees and you can see the mountains. There is a museum and opera house and an old mosque. There is the Opera coffee shop that looks like a nice place. It's very pleasant walking through here.

I loved this huge square!!! It's safe because it's always full of people, it has free WiFi and good views looking to the Mosque, Opera House or the National Museum of History and they even have a fountain working when it gets too hot on summer

We only went at night when there was a Christmas market on. It was well set out with some stalls and rides. Especially good if you wanted to go on bumper cars or test your punching strength. It seemed like mostly locals but we didn’t feel out of place or uncomfortable as tourists.

It's Ok but they chang so many time the disposition of the products that make your live difficult. Another issue is that if you feel good with a product and go for it again is not sure if you will find it so you have to experiment with a new one

I LOVE THIS PLACE!! This large square, the symbol of Tiranya, is an amazing place. There are so many attractions for families to enjoy. It's better than any other amusement park. It's amazing to have a square like this in the middle of the city. Most of the children's favorite rides are equipped, and the fee is 3 euros per ride. In addition to the rides, popping balloons (it will empty your pockets) We have a variety of food trucks, cafes, and bars. Enjoy well-cooked sausages and draft beer!

Skanderbeg Square is named after the Albanian national hero in the very heart of Tirana. Other noteworthy buildings around the square are the National Opera, the Et’hem Bej Mosque, the National Historical Museum, etc. Well worth a wander.

Once was a square, now - dont know. To be avoided in hot summer days, nice only in Christmas time. Blocking of traffic thanks to this square's restructuring created a big mess in all the city traffic. Underground parking, though expensive, is often full.

(Translated by Google) Well, somehow sad for the central square and the business card of the capital. But if you take into account Tirana as a whole, the area still looks good. The city itself is not worth paying attention to even for one day. Only in the evening the city wakes up and there is at least some life. We decided for ourselves that we will not stay here anymore, but immediately go to more interesting cities and natural places.

Of course, you just have to visit here and undoubtedly you will visit more than once '))) (Original) This is such a nice square with so many different peopke on it, partly there is water on the ground and it looks realy nice. The focus-point of the square is the statue of Skanderbeg himself, the Albanian Nationsl-Hero. When you visit the city you should come to this place.

Our greatest historical square that changed so many times his shape among years. But at least it's my best and most favourite square among all squares. -There during sunny days, activities take places like fairs, concerts during celebrations days, meetings, exhibition events. -There's no place to deal with criminal works. -Under it, you can find a great "parking a lot" for only: 200L/-3 hours, 500L/3-8 hours, 800L/8-12 hours 500L/12-24 hours (day).

There aren't any trees. This is big square made of grey plate, if you're interested in post Soviet places it is for you. You have to like that kind of architecture. Also it is the center of Tirana, the best place to park your car on the parking place under the square.

A large square for you and your family (kids of course) to wander around. There is a mini merry-go-round for your kids to enjoy. There’s also a mosque at the edge of the square with old architecture and tall minaret. Don’t miss the photoshoot “I-love-t”, city’s emblem and the statue Point of Interests. Across the street is the historic “bunker”. Surrounding are the government’s buildings. Easy accessible.

Huge square of significance in the centre of Tirana. It is surrounded by places of interest such as Skanderbeg statue, the national history museum and Et hem bej mosque. There is underground parking at this location although entrance/exit points are very narrow. The parking is not free. Beware of the stray dogs as I nearly got by a pack.

Central large open square with the famous slanderbeg statue as well as the natural history museum, opera and the I love tirana. Because the square is so large it never seemed crowded eventough many people, both tourist and locals, crossing it every day. It's an good starting point to and from eitber busses to airport, the mountains or other parts of the city; to the parks and shopping streets; or to the suburbs. A central point like this really gives something extra to a city and there's a lot of history there. Esthetically maybe not the most beautiful square, however I loved the stones that were used and the square resembles the complex albanian history making it an important place and starting point of your journey in Tirana.

The main attraction of Tirana. It is something different from other squares, it makes it unique. Nice area to see some of the cultural and historical heritage, A very good place for relaxing.

The main square in central Tirana is named after one of the most recognizable national heroes in Albania. Skanderbeg, a transliteration of the Turkish name and title of Iskandar Bey or Sir Alexander, is frequently depicted riding a horse in various cities with large Albanian populations such as Tirana and Pristina. One such statue is in Tirana's Skanderbeg Square. See the statue at dusk against the light to get a feel of its scale.

I was fascinated finding this huge square i. the middle of town center. Surrounded by all important governmental objects as well as cultural sutes as theaters, opera house, museums, cafes and much more. What would be the Skanderbeg Square without it's Skanderbeg Statue, next to it a classic carousel. Which one I really like to see there. The square is a huge attraction, where you can just chill, find lovers hand in hand, concerts, other fairing activities as well as scaters love to visit it. I like it to chill here after a long day on one of those stairs and watch them lovely people of Tirana.

An amazing beautiful town square, especially after it’s been reconstructed from the original. It maintains its uniquely Albanian heritage while making you feel like your in the heart of Europe. Tirana is a bustling city, indeed. And its epicenter rests in and around Skanderbeg Square. In this 40,000 m2 area, you'll immediately notice the massive monument for Gjergji Kastrioti Skënderbeu, the Albanian national hero. The square also houses the National Opera, the Palace of Culture, the National Library, a Childrens' Theatre, a fully-functioning Old-Style Carousel (á la Sacre Coeur in Paris, France!), and the Ethem Bey Mosque. There are even rental bikes on the square for your ease of transportation. Plenty to see, explore and do on your visit.

(Translated by Google) Southern European temperament and Arab mess - this is how you can assess the impressions of your stay in Albania. This applies to both the atmosphere and the residents (especially drivers). The number of old Mercedes cars and gas stations can surprise you. However, this country has potential. If circumstances permit, I will come back in a few years to see how it develops and changes. If they control road safety, take control of littering rubbish, ensure constant electricity supply (power generators which are an emergency power supply for shops on the main street of Tirana will disappear), Albania can be an interesting proposition for a vacation.

(Translated by Google) Tirana (Alb. Tiranë or Tirana) - the capital and largest city of Albania, located on 3 rivers: Lanë, Tiranë and Tërkuzë. It is the largest industrial and cultural center of the country. Fast facts There are 7 colleges in the city, the most important of which is the University of Tirana, founded in 1957. The main monument of the city is the Etehem Bey Mosque from the 18th century. There are also the National Theater and the Opera and Ballet Theater. 17 km to the northwest is the airport Rinas im. Mother Teresa. The city has Tirana train station. History The year 1614 is considered to be the founding date of Tirana. It was then that Suleiman Pasha Bargjini erected a number of public buildings. In the 17th century, the city became a commercial center, but never really gained much economic importance. Tirana became the capital of Albania on February 8, 1920 by a decision of the provisional government established at the congress in Lushnjë. The city had 17,000 inhabitants at that time. Its development began from that moment. On April 8, 1939, Tirana, like the rest of the country, was occupied by Italy. The occupation (German from 1943) lasted until November 17, 1944, when the city was liberated after a fierce struggle between the communist-backed inhabitants of the city and the Nazi forces. Shortly thereafter, a communist government was formed in Tirana, headed by Enver Hoxha. During his reign, many monumental buildings in the style of the so-called Hague gigantism. In 1957, the first university in Albania was established in the city. In the late 1980s and early 1990s, a wave of violent demonstrations swept through the city, which eventually led to the collapse of the communist regime in 1991. (Original) Tirana (alb.

Beautiful. Easy to get turned around/lost walking around. During the day and during the night two different feelings to it. Also, a lot of construction in and around this place. Tirana in general must be careful walking, paving is horrible. Loose stones, debris, holes, all common. Must wear good sole walking shoes for best results of uneven ground.

While I found it fascinating how just a couple of hours drive from North Macedonia to Tirana are enough to make you feel like you are not only in another country, but as if you were no longer in Europa, Tirana's main square, although quite nice, was nothing that we found too impressive, and we just wished we could have seen more of this country, especially the south, of which we have heard a lot.

Very nice square. Lots of places of interest and u can see lot of colourful buildings. People seem quite standoffish for some reason to tourists. They should be grateful of all the tourists they get instead of being hard faced and stern looking. Albanian people need to communicate better to tourists. U scare people off your county . Other people love your country who are not local.. so why dont Albanians love their own country more and show this to the tourists u receive. Stop being hard faced. You are all free now.
