The Tanners' Bridge (Albanian: Ura e Tabakëve) is an 18th-century Ottoman period stone footbridge located in Tirana, Albania. The bridge, built near the Tanners' Mosque, was once part of the Saint George Road that linked Tirana with the eastern highlands. The road was the rout by which livestock and produce entered the city. The bridge crossed the Lanë stream near the area where butcher shops and leather workers were located. The bridge fell into disrepair when the Lanë was diverted in the 1930s. In the 1990s the bridge was restored for use by pedestrians.

Interesting displays charting Albania's history from ancient to modern times. Not expensive so worth a browse. Some beautiful Greek busts. English translations for most sections although unfortunately not for all the more modern bits.

It's a must see museum, fairly priced (200 lek) however, you can't pay by card. The only problem is that mainly the first and part of the second floor have English illustrations. It would have been nice if everything was explained in English as well. I would have enjoyed it more since it's a quite big museum.

One of a series of public buildings in Tirana that will attract your attention by its monumental fascist/communist architecture that is typical of the period when Albania was isolated from the rest of the world. The columns may have been heavily influenced by Italian pre-WWII architecture, but the theme of the mural has more to do with communist era art.

(Translated by Google) The largest Albanian museum houses many of the country's archaeological treasures and a replica of the huge Skanderbeg sword. The collection of Greek and Roman statues, mosaics and columns inside is breathtaking. A disturbing and very important gallery dedicated to those who suffered persecution under the communist regime is the most recent addition to the collection. Another highlight is a magnificent exhibition of icons by Onufri, a renowned Albanian master of the 16th century color. The modernist mosaic that adorns the facade of the museum is titled "Albania" and shows the victorious and proud Albanians from the Illyrian era until the Second World War, with some surprisingly communist shades.

Not really interesting. Just an old bridge in the most random spot, next to a regular cross walk. Looks more interesting in pictures than in person.

Ura e tabakeve (tanners bridge) is one of the few things left from the times when Tirana was a small city of Ottoman empire. Now that Tirana had grown and is a modern city this bridge is a landmark and tells about the past. The river Lana itself doesn't go through the bridge anymore because when it became the capital the river bed was changed to make it straight instead of the original one that has a lot of meadows.

Old Ottoman bridge of 18 century. Many years ago here it was the end of the old Tirana. And this bridge was one of the city gates. Now it's hard to imagine! This bridge was used by farmers and tanners to bring their products from countryside to sell in the city. So, it was named accordingly. Nice location, but not so popular. I think most tourists don't know about it.

Tirana's Tanners Bridge blends history and charm. Its Ottoman architecture and serene Lana River setting create a picturesque experience. Nearby attractions make it convenient, but be prepared for occasional crowds. A must-visit for history enthusiasts and a glimpse into the city's heritage.

Its a 18-th century well preserved footbridge. A real life history and heritage from ottoman Period but saddly with a poor accessibility ( at least in my opinion) for tourists with the last years constructions. Local government should focus more on promoting this kind of attractions

Tanners' Bridge stands out like a sore thumb wedged between an apartment building and Bulevardi "Jean D'Arc". It's a short walk from Skanderbeg Square and definitely is worth a visit if you're a history buff. You can walk over the bridge or even take a few steps down below to get a different perspective. Another quaint artifact, close to the other attractions. It is the only bridge remaining from the Ottoman occupation. It does not span the river anymore, but remains a tourist attraction and a shortcut for walkers .

(Translated by Google) To be honest, it is "well," but in the general picture of Tirana, it is the norm, because here, in principle, there is nothing sensible to watch and enjoy. Therefore, if you pass by, you can look in this direction, and intentionally go rather not worth it because you will be disappointed (( (Original) Якщо чесно то „ну такоє“ але в загальній картині Тирани то норм, оскільки тут в принципі немає що толкового дивитися і отримувати насолоду. (Translated by Google) The Ponte dei Conciatori is made entirely of stone. It dates back to the 18th century A.D. and in the past it connected Tirana to the highlands. It fell into disrepair in the 1930s when the course of the river was diverted, but in 2000 the recovery and restoration work began thanks to which today it can be admired and covered, being only pedestrian. Located at the end of a lovely stone-paved pedestrian street near which there are bars and restaurants, including a very nice Chinese with a visual impact. Furthermore, not far away is the large Toptani shopping center.

WE GOT KICKED OUT! We took shelter from the heat and bought a bottle of water from the vending machine in the lobby before the entrance. The lady in shift said we cannot wait in the lobby unless we buy a ticket even though it was outside the museum entrance. Albanians are very nice, but that lady probably had a bad day. We forgive her..

Yesterday I was walking by and when I noticed this bridge and I immediately thought about who build it and in which period of time was it built. It looks amazing since you can see an old part of the city and by the other side of the road you can see how we have evolved and build new roads and buildings. However, we should preserve our ancient artifacts and try to recover them yearly so they can be held in a good shape. So this bridge was build during the ottoman empire so as many bridges where build during those periods of times.

Located near the Great Mosque, this small 18th century Ottoman bridge is a true architectural gem. Its size is small, with a height of 7.5m and width of 2.5m, although its age is significant. The bridge was built as part of the trade route between Tirana and the east of the country. The name is due to the nearby Tanners' Mosque that was located on the route that the cattle traveled and in this area the tanneries met, using the river to wash and dye leathers. In 1930 the course of the river changed, so the bridge was left unattended and gradually collapsed. Fortunately it was restored in the 90s and today it is used as a pedestrian bridge.

A rather incongruous 19th-century stone bridge remains remarkably well preserved in Tirana's modern centre and is one of just a few remnants of Ottoman Tirana. Be careful walking over it as its smooth stone surface can be very slippery. It's at the end of Rr Presidenti George W Bush.

Super bridge. If you start at one side you can walk over to the other side, and then back again. Wear suitable shoes and take an umbrella in case it rains. The only whole experience takes about 15 seconds.

Historical bridge that now runs parallel to the main road, easily accessible and walkable although I advise some caution when walking on the bridge as its not a regular pavement but historically accurate stones paved together so they can be bumpy and slippery, especially during rain or wet conditions. It's a must-visit icon of Tirana and just a short walk from the new mosque so definitely take a walk across so its off the bucket list!

Beautiful old piece of architectural art built in centuries 17-18 in Tirana. Old stone bridges like this testify the ancient traditions of Albania in construction field. They do confirm the great work of masters. It stands nearby the "Xhamia e Tabakëve" I think people should be more careful and to not throw trashes like plastic bags or food packings there and to look carefully after the city.

Strong focus on ancient Albania, with galleries devoted to prehistoric, Greek and Roman times with some nice mosaics and statues on the ground floor, with English translations. The higher you go (it has 3 levels) the more the quality drops as does the translations. Minimal information on the communist regime, or of Hoxha. Also poor air conditioning means the higher you get the more uncomfortable it becomes, not encouraging you to linger.

Its definitely worth seeing if you're into old stuff. Cool to walk across it and think of all those who used this in its prime long ago.

I used to live few houses down from it in my childhood. once at 6 yrs old, when it was filled with water from rain at night, I accidentally fell in it almost drowned. One of my scariest experiences I ever had as a kid. Luckily I knew how to swim to the side and got pulled out.

With the birth of Tirana as a civic center in 1614, a rapid development of crafts and trade was observed. Located in a favorable geographical position, at the intersection of important trade routes, Tirana gained year after year its importance and attracted the attention of the residents around it, who year after year increased the population of the city.

An ancient bridge which is still functional. The name tobacco bridge is given as to bring out the importance of tobacco usage and trade back in these days. It is a beautiful stone bridge.

It's one of the most ancient things in Tirana and It's located close to a smooth descent with restaurant and pubs. It seems to play with a toy in a children playground. It's intrtesting the sight down from the arc

I like the bridge, where it is, how it looks and nice photos can be taken there. Worth to visit since it is near downtown

Old Ottoman stone bridge at side of Lana River. You can walk across it. If you are interested in history and architecture it is worth a look.

The bridge in itself is nice but is strangled by houses and a very trafficked road. Not to mention that there is not a stream of water below, just grass (and some garbage) flourishing. It deserve more attention and care by the municipality of Tirana. Fingers crossed.

The magnificence of this historical bridge is masked by overgrown grass and the lack of any plaque or signage highlighting it’s wonder or even indicating you’ve arrived at the right bridge ☺️ only Google maps indicated I was in the correct location 😄

Nice historic bridge, but nothing special. There was quite some trash stuck in between the stones, and graffiti on the stones needs to be cleaned up.

If you are growing shit, this is the bridge you are looking for.
