Rooms are nice and the garden is not bad. Very low fun factor: the hostel is located in the middle of buildings where silence must be respected in the evening; after 10 in the evening it seems to be in a senior center. No type of activity is organised, nor are any outings to more active areas of the city organized during the evening. To be perfectly fair on a Saturday night they tried to get out (at midnight) and took us to a closing down club. What to say... If you want to relax and whisper to your friends from 10 pm onwards, this is the perfect place for you.

The hostel staff/volunteers were absolutely friendly. They made me comfortable and were helpful with food recommendations, assistance around the city, and even my car rental. The beds were comfortable and the hostel itself was righteous. Maybe it’s like all hostels, but the other travelers at this hostel was very homey too

This is such a great hostel! There's a wonderful social space out the back where you can meet fellow travellers or chill out. Breakfast is delicious, and the hostel is right in the centre of the city. Chris is a great host and insightful to chat to about Albania. Really recommend staying here :)

Would highly recommend! Volunteers/staff super helpful and full of knowledge, bathrooms were really clean and always felt safe and secure, the bedrooms were a good size with comfy large bunks, and the garden and communal dinners created a really sociable atmosphere. A great place if you’re stopping in Tirana for a night or two before heading elsewhere in Albania - we got really helpful tips from other guests!

Didn’t know the hostel was vegetarian but how cool!! I found this to be an old school hostel that had a nice vibe and everyone was very friendly and chatting. They also do a cheap dinner cooked by a staff/volunteer that was super yummy. Only feedback would be to implement some more sustainable practices - maybe a compost bin for food scraps?

Its a nice place with a chill and laidback vibe. However it was not allowed to have any meat in the kitchen. I get the consept of having a vegetarian kitchen, and its good, but people should be able to eat their preference. Was there in the spring and rooms were really cold, tho that goes for much of Albania. Decor was artsy and bohemian

Great hostel, wonderful courtyard/beer garden so peaceful I didn't want to go out anywhere! Super friendly staff, lovely dog. Decent breakfast and option of buying veggie dinner onsite too (didn't try). Great location. This is not a party hostel/frat house so you will sleep well and have a civilised stay here. Loads of excellent restaurants just round the corner. Would stay again.

The blonde morning volunteer is not very friendly and never smiles. She will give you a hard time. Don’t bother asking her any questions. She has no clue where to go and whatnot. The evening crew is a lot more friendlier. Specially the American guy. That’s why I gave this an extra star because of him. If not I would’ve switched hostels Also “vegetarian” hostel but mostly everybody smokes. What’s the point. You can’t bring kfc and meat here

I had a private room the room was very clean and the bed is comfy. They have hot water in the shower. They helped me get direction for the bus for my next trip. No AC in the room but i kept the window open and it was cool.

I spent about 3 weeks working in this hostel and it was a super cool experience ! The hostel was very cozy, especially the nice garden where we used to spend a lot of time. Great atmosphere, friendly host, a lot of cool people and a lovely dog Riza💚 So happy that I found this VEGGIE hostel in Albania ! 🙏🏼 I would definitely recommend it, especially for vegans. It's one of the best hostels in Tirana if not the best one. A nice mix of everykind of traveller. The garden is amazing. Nicely decorated with lot's of exiciting stuff. It has a spirit between adventure and psychodelic. They have a great open buffet traditional albanian breakfast here. The management is very helpful in sightseeing and giving you information about all the country and special places. They also organize hiking tours if a minimum number of 5 people is reached. A place you will miss ?

I did not like the hostel very much. I paid a little more for the green room and they put me in the old brown one. The beds were very hard and old. The breakfast was very limited and very little quantity. The staff was very neutral....

The Tirana Backpacker Hostel is a very comfortable place to stay. The rooms are clean and tidy. The have a bathroom on both floors and the garden is very nice for hanging out, chilling and sleeping. But the best part is the amazingly friendly and competent team taking care of the service and the comfort for the guests. You should definitely stay over for some nights!

Great place for the money: for 12 euros I had a very confy bunk in a shared 6 bunk room with air conditioning and breakfast was included (don't know what it was bc I didn't eat it). The hostel is very clean, rooms are spacious, the shared space includes a beautiful garden and the staff are very friendly, helpful and speak good English. It is in the center of Tirana close to all the sites and night life.

Beautiful garden, vintage-style hostel, the man who checked me (I think the owner) was very lovely and gave me some great recommendations, hostel dinner was great as well and so cheap. My only issue was night time receptionist who, even though it was obvious people weee sleeping in the room, turned on the bright overhead lights to check someone in. I asked them nicely to use flashlights or something instead (what most people do when checking in late?, but it was clear I had irritated the receptionist. It seemed like it was more about her being inconvenienced than guests getting a good nights rest. Sure, it wasn’t that late (maybe 10:30?) but take into consideration that travelling can be really exhausting, some people need to get up early for buses, and some of us like to go to bed early? Anyway, I just thought it was a bit rude. Perhaps they prefer it is guests stay up late buying drinks at the bar in the garden, as opposed to wanting to actually SLEEP.

Nice quiet hostel in a good location within the city. Bathrooms were clean and you are provided with clean towels and an optional laundry service for a charge. Reception was helpful and the hostel felt safe in general.

Drug dealing receptionist, tried to trick us. We payed for a whole weekend but changed into one night because of this dodgy receptionist. They didn't gave us our money back. The night there was horrible, too hot and sweaty in flies and mosquitos. No air conditioning. All in all we thought it is a cool place but it is a mess.

The warmest hostel in Tirana, I stayed here initially around Christmas and ended up volunteering. Everyone is super nice and they really take care of everyone that comes through, so grateful.

Weird vibes. Trying too hard to be cool but gives more "Alfie's cult" vibes. Our room had no air-conditioning during the heat wave and we paid the same as other rooms that had AC. Staff weren't particularly helpful in calling taxis or directions. Family dinner was painfully tasteless and not even particularly cheap. And just a 300th reminder, it's VEGETARIAN so no meat stored or cooked in the kitchen.

Often after weeks in hostels you grasp for some comfort and space, and you book a hotel or b&b for a night to recharge. Well, the Tirana Backpacker Hostel was my recharge. Super sweet people, spacious, comfortable, safe, all I could wish for in a hostel. If I’m ever near Albania again, I’d visit Tirana for this hostel only, without a doubt. An experience below expectations. The hostel is colorful and has a nice garden. Bathrooms are clean, rooms are ok. The kitchen is a bit old. Wi-Fi is good. The thing is the staff working at the hostel is a bit “in its bubble” and I felt like being in someone else’s house (or a hippie comune). The first morning, at 8.40 I went down for breakfast (they said it would start at 8.30): I said “hello” and the a staff girl said “Breakfast will be ready in a bit”, with a subtly annoyed voice. Another problem was that the second day someone took my bed by mistake, with some of my stuff still in the room. This shouldn’t happen in a small hostel with such good reviews. I was happy to change dorm since the upper bad I had did not have plugs to charge the phone, but still I went in a 6 people dorm when I had paid 2 nights in a 4 people dorm. And found someone else’s stuff where I had slept. 26€+2 for late check-in are a bit too much for my experience and considering other hostels in Tirana. Overall, I don’t say it was a nightmare, but next time I’ll surely go somewhere else.
