The center of Tirana was conceived as a monumental space. To achieve this goal, the old bazaar of Tirana, the City hall, the Orthodox Cathedral and old assemble of shops, hotels, bars and traditional houses where demolition and substituted by important buildings such as the Palace of Culture, Hotel Tirana, National Museum, “Scanderbeg Square”, and a group of residential buildings.

The Opera and Ballet Theatre occupies yet another public building in Tirana that was built to impress. Like many others like it in Tirana, its style is heavily influenced by pre-WWII Italian fascist architecture. Walking around the center of Tirana, I frequently felt the unmistakable influence of that era on a collection of public buildings in the center of the city.

The Tirana Opera is a cultural treasure that beautifully combines architectural splendor with captivating performances. Housed in a grand neoclassical building, the opera exudes an air of elegance and sophistication. Attending a show here is a delightful experience, offering a rich tapestry of classical music, ballet, and opera performances that showcase the immense talent of the local and international artists. The ornate interior, with its stunning chandeliers and plush seating, adds to the overall charm. For lovers of the arts, the Tirana Opera is a must-visit destination, where timeless performances are set against a backdrop of architectural grandeur, creating an unforgettable cultural experience.

it's ridicolous that an important cultural place in the country do not have a ramp to get inside the opera with wheelchair.

I know Albania doesn't have the money that the UK has but surely they could have done better with the opera and ballet theatre. Drab building with a drab staff.

(Translated by Google) If you have come as a tourist like me, and if it is near the hotel you are staying in, consider taking a small snack early in the morning and having breakfast on the benches in front of it. While you are having breakfast, the spirit of the city suddenly comes to life, people start to go to work, do sports, and the shops around open one by one, and the whole square becomes active.

Opera building is one of the symbols of the city. Built in 60's is designed in Russian style. Part of this complex is also the National Library.

This used to be a great place but now that the new director came (her name was Abi Geil or something) they dont treat people with respect anymore. I showed up 1minute late and they closed the doors. The old staff when you where a little late they where very kind and let you in through a backdoor and gave you a seat so you could watch the first act and then during the pause you could go to your seat. This new director orders was to leave all the people outside even though they had bought the ticket. Its a shame what this place has become. I used to come here since i was a kid and used to enjoy the shows
