First of all it was my first trip to Albania. I am not a globetrotter but I have been in several places with my wife around the world. I did not have any expectations going to Sandy Beach. However during Covid times I thought the local people would welcome tourist with open hands. Here are my thoughts on Sandy Beach Resort: Pros: + modern look + clean. There was always someone cleaning something. + good if you want to lie on the beach and drink local alcohol + food was fine. Not great. Just ok. Pros/cons: +/- the staff is not proactive at all. From one side they are not intrusive but on the other hand you have to ask for everything. During Covid times they should be much more open for guests. Especially if they claim 80% of population has been vaccinated. +/- it seems there is a lot of staff in the facilitiy. However most of them are playing with/using their phone all the time so I think it balances out with the amount of work to be done. Cons: - nothing interesting in nearest area of the hotel. You have to go to Durres or Kavaje. - no kettle/tea set in the room. No access to a hot beverage for 24h/day. Not even a welcome complimentary water. - most staff acts like they do not want to be there and are forced to work in this hotel. Sometimes even mocking guests in front of them. - staff was taking food from restaurant as if they were guests and smoking everywhere outside - no designated place for staff. The smell carried over to the restaurant. - often you can see staff with their children/families/friends using hotel facilities (before, during or after work). - waiters push you aside when they are in hurry and when you are blocking their way (for example waiting in the bar). - the beach bar was closed during whole stay. - small variety of fresh fruits during meals. - the juices served during breakfasts were horrible. Tasted like cheap bottled nectars which actually they were. - English of most of the staff is communicative at best. If you have a more complicated problem (like a pump for a flat bike tyre or asking about the kettle) they do not understand. - in a building next to the hotel (where the kids club is) there were some contruction/renovation going. It was quite noisy and the dust floated over the pool quite often. Things to be improved: 1. there is no fitness room in the hotel. 2. not all dishes in the restaurant are properly labeled. 'Traditional dish' is a rather vague description. Jams, souces, cheeses, vegetables were without name. 3. Room service - there is none. You have to bring drinks to your room yourself. Also guests are discourage to do so. Peculiar situations: 1. We wanted to rent bike because this option is available in the hotel. One day we were told they are not available because they are not in good condition. After checking with our tour guide the bicycles magically have been found. After some techinical difficulties the next day they were ready. The price was good 1 eur/h for two bikes. 2. At one point during our stay, during dinners, a staff lady wearing pink or black&white jacket appeared in the restaurant. She was just standing and monitoring guests. Not even welcoming them and showing to the tables. Just standing and watching people eat and what they are taking from buffet. Not saying hello, not smiling, not helping other staff. It was disturbing and felt like beign watched by some kind of Albanian secret police. 3. There were days with hot water shortages in bathroom. 4. Couple of times we saw a waiter finishing a drink (coffee for example) taken from guest table for cleaning. 5. Cleaning ladies did not pick up dirty glasses from rooms. 6. Other guest reported that even since dinner was supposed to be served to 21:30, there was nothing to eat at 20:00. Overall I did not feel welcome there and not like in a 4 star hotel. Probably will not visit Albania again. And if, then definitevely I will not stay in Sandy Beach Resort. I do not recommend it.

Given the good reviews, my expectations were probably too high. Instead, the experience was just... OK. The service, in all departments, was very superficial and not too professional. Right upon arrival, after a long trip, I was immediately and insistently asked to pay for the remaining sum due upfront, and there were some issues with the bank card, which was new (they even hinted I had no money available, at some point), all this while my 2 yo daugther was tired and hungry, so we started off with the wrong foot. The rooms were nice, although a bit small, but they were not cleaned properly and the bathroom products were of poor quality. When we arrived, we were both stomach sick and went to see a doctor after asking for help at the reception, and when we came back shortly afterwards not one person of the staff asked if we were ok or needed anything. The baby club is just a room with toys, there are two ladies watching the kids, but they do not involve them in any activity (while their website says so) and there is no entertainment for them, except for 20 minutes of baby dance after dinner, or a couple of movie nights (which we could not attend as the movie was in Albanian). The swimming pool is ok but most of the times there were no sunbeds available as people would drop a towel to occupy them all day long. The staff serving the meals did not speak English and there were a few misunderstandings - also, they often took away my food before I could eat or finish it, while I was at the buffet to get something else for my daughter. By mistake I had a glass of wine from the buffet (I was allowed only water at dinner) and its was just terrible. I did two excursions with the operator advertised in the lobby and they were terrible: the first one, Tirana by night, was basically all in Albanian, so we did not understand anything. At the end the guide told us next time we would get a book (!). With the second one to Valona, the guide lost us and some other people along the way and then they brought us to a secluded beach with a bar that only had drinks, without telling me beforehand to bring food. Also, they took us back leaving us right in the middle of the road behind the hotel - very unsafe. Given that this operator was advertised and recommended by the hotel, I trusted it but the experiences were both quite bad. Overall, I valued most of all the beach and the food, but in general I expected something more/better. EDITS after the very nice reply below: 1) My card was brand new and there was just a techcnical glitch with it, that was immediately solved. To imply that I travel with no money is an insult, my dears. 2) After we went to the doctor I was not told ANYTHING, I was not offered any medication nor soup, nothing at all. Literally no one paid any attention to us. This is a blatant lie. 3) The tour operator guy was well aware of our nationality, and on ANY tour on the planet I was in (and I travelled 4 continents), the guides always made sure that there was an English translation so that everyone could understand. If that was not the case, it would have been honest to say it. 4) For kids your website says there are: Toys for indoor and outdoor play Animation fun activities Special programme activities for babies and infants Professionally trained animation staff Creativity programme Games on the beach, picnics, parties There were just an indoor playroom, a small outdoor one, 20 minutes of babydance or games in the evening and movies.

Great modern hotel with heplpful and nice staff! Graat atmosphere! Delicious meals and deserts! Really clean! Each day staff cleaned sun beds, beach, space around pool and everything, even chairs in restaurant and lamps in lobby :). There was just one issue, related directly with guests: each day early morning they've reserved every seats around pools (by towels or other things), then came even after 2 p.m., just leaving one person on a "watch". When trying to seat on free one, there came a person from nowhere and claim, that they have reserved all 6 for their "familia" (which didn't come for 4 hours). For 8 days, it was impossible even for one day to use. Some people reserved sun beds even around two pools and towel guy knew about that and didn’t react even, when animator told about it to him.

The hotel is new and good interior. But at night we had no hot water for 3+ hours. Found hair on my food and the staff didn’t care about my complaint! I don’t recomment it!

Excellent place to spend a holiday, especially with family. Lot of entertainment for kids and for adults also. They organise sports activities in pool and at the beach, cinema and game nights for kids. Hotel and it's rooms are amazing, beds are so comfortable and staff is very polite and friendly. Only downside was that room maintenance could be slightly better and there was no chicken meals for dinner through our whole stay (7 nights). Beach is very close to the hotel and is very nice, sunbeds are really comfortable. Beach is clean. I would highly recommend this hotel to everyone who wants to relax and enjoy.

Been there with my wife and 2 children's!the good experience started from the first text messages prior booking! The person who deals with their WhatsApp messages was responding quickly and shared with us all the Information we needed! Room was good and the staff were fantastic! Starting from the reception to the cleaning lady's! Food was great,variety quality and quantity amazing! Will recommend to anyone and most definitely will book back next year! Spent there a very relaxing 17 nights and never got bored with anything !

Agreement made on instagram was different compared to what we have been told when we arrived. Chat msges were deleted by Sandybeach resort so there was no trail to what you signed up for. Dva z nich studenejsi, protože tam není moc slunce. Ručníky na koupání jsme dostávali každý den nové - za kartičky ručí se za vrácení. Pokud nevratite, tak pokuta 15 eur, ale to je fér coz ;). Moře cca 100 m pod hotelu přes cestu (není tolik frekventovaná sem tam auto) lehátka u moře zadarmo v rámci hotelu. Velká pláž=hodně lidí. Co mi trochu vadilo bylo nabízení jídla na pláži.. asi tak každé 2 minuty nekdo procházel a hlasitě vyrvaval co prodávají.. ceny ale nízké. Pobyt byl celkově super akorát turismus je ještě v začátcích a chodníky jsou třeba jeste nedodelane, tak nečekejte nějaké super město, když člověk zajde dál tak vidí tu chudobu:'( jinak pobyt za nás super akorát nebylo moc kam jít kromě pláže. Trochu mě mrzelo, že nám už den před odletem nedoplnili na wc toaletní papír a vyhodili mydlo na ruce. Hotel ale velmi doporučujeme!:)

We came from London to Golem and go to Sandy Beach bar in the evenings. We have had the best time here every single night. The service is Amazing from one waitress in particular Matilda! She is such a lovely girl she is very friendly and made us feel so welcome and happy, her service is very quick and she really was the best. She always had a smile on her face and a great personality , she is the reason we came back every night and we had the best time always with her. The vibe in Sandy beach is great the music, the venue and the staff will make you have the best memories on your holiday.

The food was awful. We booked half board and the dinner came without drinks?? Only the inclusive could drink and the drinks were 2L sodas and juices. I talked to the manager about this situation and he didn’t give me a reason why.There was a lot of food but nothing was tasty. The wifi didn’t work from time to time. Если вы привыкли к отдыху по все включено, то вам не сюда. И если любите погулять ночью, а утром поспать подольше, то будьте готовы к тому, что возле моря и бассейна сможете только постоять.

Before we decided to choose this hotel to be our holiday destination we had done huge research. Not only trip advisor has been checked but also google and tour operator which is TUI Poland. First impression was quite good, hotel seemed clean and the food was really tasty. After 3 days my boyfriend started to feel bad. Firstly we tought that it was covid-19 but later it turned out to be very bad food poisoning. We hoped something would help, bought every possible medicines but it only get worst. If our stay would have been planned for longer period of time, I am pretty sure that we would have ended up in hospital. Friday, Saturday and Sunday he laid on the bathroom floor. Almost whole Monday we spent in the lobby waiting for our transfer. When we finally arrived to Poland, my boyfriend got four drips to replenish electrolytes and hydrate. We were concerned about his kidneys. He was diagnosed with salmonella. To sum up I would like to add that in our plane there was seven people from the same hotel. Four of us had the same issues connected with food poisoning. We only ate at the hotel because we had chosen all inclusive option. We also noticed that at the reception they had special medicines for vomiting and diarrhea. It is suspicious because it suggests that salmonella is common among their guests. What may be added. It was not comfortable for me as a woman to go alone to the bar for a glass of wine. I heard that they watch me all day as I sunbath alone. I was asked also where my boyfriend is, why am I alone. One of the bartenders was rude sometimes, he did not want us to speak English because we came from Poland althought he was not even fluent-speaking our language. Some people cannot behave during meals, they touched bread or croissants by hands, did not use cutlery.

If you like to be on your holiday in a place with nice surrounding environment, you would not be satisfied over here. The hotel is situated in a quite messy street with many apartment buildings around, so the view is not nice. The hotel shares a beach with other sunbed providers, so you would share a beach with the other guests, who do not belong to this hotel. The ocean is quite dirty and not worth of swimming (maybe it is different in other seasons.. I do not know) but if you are also the type of guest who does mind a dirty ocean, in the hotel you will find two nice outside pools with clean and refreshing water. :) If you order a junior suite room, be aware of the fact, that the hotel has one junior suite (room 404) out of 10 junior suites, which is smaller than the other rooms, which I find very inconvienent, that I found out that our friends with different junior suite had a bigger room and the extra bed in their room was not in their way to the bathroom. As I was informed my the hotel staff, they do not provide the smaller parameters of the one smaller junior suite on-line and that is in my opinion a misleading advertisement for the customers. :( In the beginning of our stay we were disatisfied with the broken airconditioning at the beginning of our stay, but for such inconvenience the hotel staff did their best to make our stay better and offered us a complimentary wine and a later c/o as an apology. :) On the other hand the hotel is very nice, clean, new, food is delicious and the hotel staff is very kind - I would like to highlight Ermira and Rosela. They are doing a great job and their smiles evoke a nice atmosphere at the front office. :) Also Klaudja (she works as a aqua gym trainer) is a very nice girl and the hotel must be proud of her great optimism she spreads while working! :)

Hotel is great, rooms are clean, big and customer care is so good :) We had our yoga retreat there and all our yogis were so happy with everything… It’s a nice environment, nice food and very private. We had a 4 days yoga retreat in this hotel. From the very beginning we were so satisfied starting with booking of rooms and until the end of the event. I would like to thank in particular Xhoi who was very patient with us, accommodating us in a beautiful big and clean rooms. The customer service is great. Better than years before, but still not completely developed

The stay was very nice. Mind you, this was my first all inclusive holiday and my first ever trip to the seaside. My wife is, shall I say, experienced. We chose Albania, because for us the destination was (at least from a czech perspective) less traveled so we wanted to see what it is all about. The hotel is very nice. Our room was great and spacious (we had the Junior suite - we paid a little extra money, because at the time of our purchase no standard rooms were available), I super enjoyed the style of the bathroom. The only thing that annoyed me was the soap stand, which "swallowed" the soap bar and wouldn't let go :) The room has AC and super impenetrable blinds, so if you want dark, you got it. I would have appreciated if the AC had a remote control or if the panel was closer to the bed though, because at night when we were cold, we had to walk all the way to the door to adjust. The food was nice, always a wide selection of dishes. There was always some kind of risotto, always some pasta dish, some meat options... The best thing for us was the guy who made fresh pancakes to order every morning :) I have to say that as our stay progressed, the food started to seem a bit repetitive, but I think that for a person who eats more than two things it is not hard to choose something. I always found some combination that I had not previously had. The beach was very interesting. It is a long, large public beach, on which the hotel has its own section with free sunbeds. The beach - being free and all - is being relentlessly walked by people selling all sorts of stuff from food through sunscreen to scarves and sunglasses. At first this was kind of a shock to me, but I quickly became used to it. They are not in your face, they just walk by. If anything, they can disturb your sleep with their calling. The sea is quite nice, the beach is sandy, has a very gentle slope, which is good for playing in the water and for children obviously. The moving sand makes the water a little cloudy, so no good for snorkeling, although some distance from the beach, that might be also possible. The water was pleasantly warm but very salty (which I am told is normal lol ). There is also a hotel-owned beach bar, which unfortunately doesn't serve all inclusive clients, so you have to walk all the way to the hotel. The hotel has three pools.
