"Koço
Gliozheni"
is
a
prison,
not
a
hospital.
My
wife
had
an
emergency
C-section
there
and
did
not
get
any
medical
attention
afterwards
for
five
days.
No
doctors
showed
up,
the
nurses
accepted
bribes,
but
did
not
improve
my
wife's
care.
As
a
result
her
wound
got
infected
more
and
more.
They
held
my
newborn
son
hostage
at
the
NICU
during
the
entire
time
and
would
not
allow
us
to
transfer
to
a
private
hospital,
they
would
come
up
with
lies
to
keep
him
there
like
saying
he
needed
resuscitation
which
he
clearly
did
not).
When
we
were
finally
allowed
to
leave,
we
immediately
went
to
a
private
hospital.
The
doctors
there
were
shocked
about
the
level
of
negligence.
As
a
consequence
my
wife
needed
another
operation.
If
she
had
stayed
at
"Koço
Gliozheni"
,
she
would
have
certainly
died.
The
conditions
there
were
unsanitary,
there
was
no
hospital
food,
no
toilet
paper,
even
pain
meds
I
had
to
bring
into
the
hospital
from
a
nearby
pharmacy.
I
had
to
change
my
wife's
wound
dressing,
because
nobody
else
did.
There
was
no
emergency
button,
if
a
woman
starts
hemorrhaging
there,
she
will
die.
The
nurses
mocked
my
wife
for
her
weight.
It
was
pure
horror.
They
vaccinated
my
newborn
son
without
parental
consent.
At
this
hospital
the
spirit
of
Enver
Hoxha
is
very
much
alive.
Ignore
this
warning
at
your
own
peril:
As
a
foreigner,
go
to
a
private
hospital
even
if
you
think
you
cannot
afford
it.
If
you
end
up
at
"Koço
Gliozheni",
call
your
embassy
immediately.
I
regret
not
having
done
that
on
day
one.
