Albanian Airport Police are Savages and Ruthless Thugs Abusing Their Authority & Power! It Is Indeed Appalling & Totally Unjustifiable! Their Propensity To Literally Put Tourists In Prison For The Slightest Of Reason Is Terrifying! My Advice Is To Stay Away From This Godforsaken Corrupted Savage Country! There Are Many Beautiful Countries like Croatia, Greece, Turkey & Even Serbia BUT NOT THIS GODFORSAKEN CORRUPTED SAVAGE COUNTRY ALBANIA! It’s EXTREMELY Dangerous! They Would Not Arrest You During Arrival; But Just Minutes Before Departure When You Are Boarding The Plane Then They Come Up With The Most Ludicrous & Preposterous Criminal Charge! You Loose Your Flight! THEN You Loose Your Freedom & After A Few Weeks Of Forced Captivity, You Loose Your Mind! Then When You are being charged in Court for a crime you did not commit, you’ll realise that Albanians are Savages and Godless people and are capable of anything! They cannot be reasoned with, they cannot be bargained with and they absolutely will not stop until you are dead! It’s imperative you heed my advice or suffer the same fate! https://youtu.be/Ffaxh_hwvhw

Stupid guards don't accept tickets with QR-code from mobile devices however turnstiles read well tickets from smartphone. You have to go front desk and obtain a paper ticket

Terrible airport. Not enough places to sit. Almost no 220V sockets to charge a device (like less then 10 per 400 people). No COVID measurements taken... - 95% of people without masks in small gate area, no social distancing at all, all people sit together or are in queues like 20cm close to each other. Duty free is closed. No air conditioning or proper ventilation. And they are misspelling cities names on the board...

One exchange office only, and this one is closed at 14.30 ! Information unattended. So do not count on the airport for changing the rest of your Leks!

Surprisingly small airport, no clear access to public transportation. Taxi from airport is always overpriced.

Nice little airport in Rinas. It can be very busy during high seasons in the summer time. You may wanna leave early for your flight as the traffic to the airport can be bad.

Had a transfer of flights so had to do an overnight stay. Quite decent airport for that. Found a nice corner with a row of seats and tucked away and got a few hours sleep. Plenty of good food around as well. Check-in was quite easy. Loses a star rating because some lady made 50 announcements in 30 minutes asking for Enrique to make it towards the checkin desk. I do wonder if Enrique ever made his flight.

There is little to improve - Access, cabs and rentals are easy. Nevertheless, a high Risk of being cheated at the cashier desk.

The airport itself is quite nice but to get here, especially with rented car is very difficult. No signs and huge traffic jam around the airport. Be there at least three hours before arrival if you want to catch your plane.

Smoothly operated but still a depressing place. A tip if you want to eat or drink - choose the cafes before departures as the prices increase 50% once through security.

Almost no sitting area available! And if you sit where is not a sit, you get told off by the airport staff. They should provide more sits if they don’t want COSTUMERS to sit where they can. Otherwise allow for earlier check in to the boarding gates. The available sitting area is also dirty.. lots of stains they can stain you clothes.. very disappointed. Some of the words in the announce departure board were only in Albanian, and not in English.. its an international airport!

The airport is modern and beautiful. Even at night there are many open shops and it's possible to buy food, drink something or even do shopping! Seats are very comfortable as well. Definitely one of the best airports I have been to. Then, why 3 stars? Because there was no wi-fi connection or very weak signal and this is not acceptable in such a beautiful airport.

The worst live gaming experience was at your airport I didn't know what I had done wrong. You kept me inside the airport of your country in negative cold weather in one of the headrooms for 40 hours without water or food. Whoever comes to your country, your first question is whether you are a Muslim or not. Are you a good Muslim or a bad Muslim? No animal oppresses its own kind, but despite being human, you oppress your own kind. It was a very bad, very bitter experience for me because I spent both my money and my time to travel to your country, and the cruelty that you you did

Security check broke my cat’s carrier! It caused me a lot of stress and I had to carry the transporter on my arms as I couldn’t use the handle. After walking with the transporter to the passport control my arms were hurt and red. This was a horrible experience! ( it looks as if it isn’t broken much) but it is broken enough so i cant close it properly!

None oficial information about the buses and transportation to the city center. We got a bus for 400LEK to go to the city, that was really hot. We also bought the ONE SIM card, terrible!! They said that we would have roaming internet, and it is not working, now they said that it wasn't included. Feels like you like to make the tourists fool.

I visited my husband's family in May. Two of my suitcases didn't arrive when we landed so we had to return to the airport the next day. The airport employees took over $1,500 dollars worth of gifts I was bringing his family. They try to tell us it happened in London. But i gave his nice a bottle of chanel unopened and when she went to return to Italy it was also stolen so it proves it all happed in Albanias airport. If traveling there do not put anything important in your luggage.

Free WiFi seems not very powerful because it is not always possible to connect to it. I have only seen power sockets available for travelers to charge their phones in the area of a pub, with obligatory consumption

What a pleasant experience arriving here. Customs was a breeze with automated passport checks. Took maybe 2 minutes and I was outside grabbing a taxi. The terminal is all modern and shiny. Remember to get cash at one of the 3 ATMs in baggage claims since they don't often accept credit cards in Albania..

Small airport. Able to handle passengers easily for the number of flights. Easy to get in and out. Automated passport control.

Oct 2023. One of the best airports in the Balkans. Roomy and very comfortable inside and outside of security. Inexpensive round-the-clock shuttle bus from Tirana.

Nice place and quite good before you go to the waiting place for airplane. After check in boarding pass, the place of waiting, there is a lot of noise and dusted from the workers that are doing the extension of the airport. They are working most than one year make the waiting time to boarding to the place unpleasant. There would be better to work during the night that are less travellers.

Very small, well signed in English and easy to navigate. We walked to our plane and climbed the stairs to enter.

Busy place but nice. Work in place as far as I saw and have made some modification for better. It was far nicer than a couple of years ago, departures at least.

This airport is slow and inefficient. Gates open two hours before the flight however there's no pre check in or pre baggage check in. Therefore, this process nullifies getting to the airport early. Imagine being in a line with 200 passengers like I did only to be told you need to goto a separate line to pay for an excess baggage fee. Once the baggage fee is paid for you must return to the gate/line to get your boarding pass. Once you get your boarding passes you must go upstairs to customs. The lines in the customs department have nearly 1200 passengers undergoing security checks. Considering all these inefficiencies and the volume of passengers; many people were on the verge of missing their flights.

Operations seemed to run more smoothly than at my previous (pre-Covid) visits. The WiFi was weak in the departure gates area and a slightly lower temperature would have been nice. The new security arrangement worked well. We were able to walk to/from the planes, which sped things up a bit, but there are still buses (presumably for planes that have to park further from the terminal). All around, a good experience. Much less fuss than the major hubs.

Flying back to Toronto through Munich we had to take an early flight. It was very busy and some construction made our arrival at the airport a bit unpleasant but the rest went very well. Security was respectful and fair. With canadian passports we went through the automated gates which was cool. Good coffee and a croissant from Mulliri made the early wake more bearable.

This is a very old school airport where they don't accept digital boarding passes; therefore, you will have to get a physical ticket at the airline desk. Additionally, the airport is quite small for the amount of people that come and go. There's barely a place where you can take a seat while waiting for your flight. They urgently need to modernize and upgrade this airport because Albania is one beautiful country that deserves to be visited

Current advice (August 2022) is to get to the airport 3 hours before the flight. I was speaking to check in staff and they say only 2 hours is fine. Which is a good job because there is really nothing to do there. There a 2 cafes which are very small and a HUGE smoking area outside. Passport control and security were quick though.

  • 4/5 Lewis M. 2 years ago on Google
Basic but it actually does pretty much what passengers need. It appears that one flight comes in at a time so passport control is a doddle. There aren't dozens of baggage carousels so that is easy. There is a money exchange and ATMs as you head outside for taxis and buses. Buses run into the centre every hour on the hour until 22.00 or 23.00. Check online as all relevant information is there. Traffic into town and in town is a nightmare but there's nothing changing towards an easier journey so sit back and enjoy the ride.

Small airport for an international airport. However it is clean and well maintained. Departure area has just a few 1 duty free shop and 1 restaurant. Sitting area gets crowded easily at peak periods when a lot of flights are departing the airport
