🪷ॐ नमो भगवते वासुदेवाय🪷 It is such a beautiful temple. Walking around the temple felt so divine. The most eye-catching thing was the entrance gate of the temple which was so big and can be seen from far away. I am really blessed that I got the chance to visit this temple in this life.

Absolutely stunning temple. There is so much to see. We wandered there for whole one day to complete the darshan of every deity and still think that we may have left some of them. Very clean environment, very refreshing. A must go place for every Indian. One should get familiar with the history of the temple before visiting because it is very huge and ancient temple.

My visit to this temple was especially magical. The complex feels as if it is really living, with incense and scents wafting through the air - not like other places of monuments elsewhere which have simply become a tourist attractions. Bag (Rs. 15) and shoe storage available at a kiosk outside the temple for a small fee. No shorts allowed, I wore a collared shirt with short sleeves and it was okay.

The temple is huge. It is so big that you need atleast 3 hours to see the whole place. The architecture of this temple is mind blowing. Parking options are less. Prasadams are available inside the temple premises. You can have paid and normal darshanams too. A must visit place in this region.

Visited this temple yesterday. It has the highest temple gopuram in Tamilnadu. Must visit Srirangam once in your lifetime. It was a large temple that you need to spend time for a whole day to worship all gods in temple. The perumal in this temple is in sleeping position. Don't forget to experience the majestic Rajagopuram in this temple Note: The Rajagopuram in this picture is larger than it appear

Really it's an engineering marvel. Thanks to chola kings for making this wonder.very big temple to perumal. Karuda azhvar is amazing. Today really blessed by perumal. I say thanks to God, for born in tamilnadu. Even one day also not enough to see around the temple. Well maintained temple. 1000 pillar mandapam is the highlight. They offered prasadam sweet pongal for just 15 rupees only. Very tasty. Around 12:30 pm they offered annadhanam. Ofcourse this temple is a "bhoologa vaigundam". In pandemic period swamy dharisanam only available. This temple is a miracle that should be seen at least once in a lifetime. Don't miss temple prasadam. No mind to leave the temple. Due to pandemic, maximum doors were locked. Om namo naarayanayaaya 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

Beautiful temple with very less crowd.Went on a Monday.Maintained very cleanly.Preferably enter from back side which is North gate where it is totally empty.Chappal stand right outside the entrance.it is a huge temple built in over 156 acres.Keep about 2 hours to visit all the small temples inside. No fleecing of money nor do the vendors ask you to buy anything which i liked about the temple. For the main Ranganathan sannidhi there is a 50 rs and 250 rs ticket which if taken you can shorten the queue to a large extent. Overall a very good and enriching experience.

Exceptional temple and premises on the whole. Keep at least two hours with you. The main idol will take your breath away, so beautiful. The premises are large so take time to walk around and soak in the divinity. Try to get to the temple by 7am to avoid crowds and Sun...

Another majestic temple of the south. The first time I visited, I had actually missed the main idol of the Vishnu, made of black stone, lying down deep inside the sanctum. Beautiful! Don't miss the prancing horses at the entrance.

But to see swami , they are rushing us so fast . We waited an hour in queue , went nearby within 5secs that lady pushing us away not letting us see properly. So rude staffs

It is a Hindu temple dedicated to Ranganathan (Vishnu). Architecture and style is that of Dravidian. When you visit, it’s advisable to go early in the morning to avoid the crowds. The temple is open from 6:00 AM to 9:00 PM every day. No tickets or booking needed.

Important - People offer very higher rates to foreigners near the temple for food, travel and rooms. Please be aware. Magnificent hindu temple. Very well maintained. You have to remove your shoes and caps to enter the premises. No short dresses are allowed in. Near temple you can find food for a lower cost.

Srirangam is considered the biggest functioning Hindu temple in the world, as it covers an area of about 631,000 square metres (6,790,000 sq ft) with a perimeter of 4 km (10,710 ft). Angkor Wat is bigger but non-functioning. Srirangam among a few "self-manifested" shrines (Swayam Vyakta Kshetras) of Lord Vishnu. The temple complex is enormous and spans 156 acres (0.63 km2). It has seven prakaras' (enclosures). These enclosures are formed by thick and huge rampart walls which run round the sanctum. There are 21 magnificent towers in all prakaras providing a unique sight to any visitor. The temple town lies on an islet formed by the twin rivers Kaveri and Kollidam. The Sriranganathaswamy Temple complex is composed of 7 concentric walled sections and 21 towers gopuram. The southern gopuram of the temple, called the Rajagopuram, is 239.5 feet tall and, as of 2016, is the tallest in Asia. The construction of the Rajagopuram began during the reign of Achyuta Deva Raya of the Vijayanagara empire. However, construction was halted after his death and the structure of the Rajagopuram remained incomplete for over 400 years. The monumental task of completion of the Rajagopuram was undertaken and completed successfully by Sri Vedanta Desika Yatheendra Mahadesikan, the 44th jeeyar of Sri Ahobila Matha. The construction spanned 8 years before it was consecrated on 25 March 1987. The temple has seven prakaras with gopurams articulating the axial path, the highest at the outermost prakara and the lowest at the innermost. In historic times, just after the construction of this temple, the city of Thiruvarangam lived completely within the walls of this temple and hence is quoted as an example of Hindu religious utopia – during its peak of existence. The Thiruvarangam temple is one of the three temples of the God Ranganatha (Antya Ranga) that are situated in the natural islands formed in the Kaveri river. The other two are: Adi Ranga: the Ranganathaswamy temple at Srirangapattana Madhya Ranga: the Ranganathaswamy temple at Shivanasamudra There is a gopuram fully made of gold, which is protected by an electrical fence. Clothes such as silk sarees, dhoti and towels, which are used for religious purposes are auctioned here. Ramanuja (11th century), one of the most celebrated theologians of Hinduism, made his monastic home by the temple at Thiruvarangam. Here he wrote his famous commentaries on the Brahma Sutra, which expressed a qualified non-dualism of the Vedanta, his Vishishtadvaita. Ramanuja's body is said to come out of the Earth after he was buried and was preserved at this temple. Although, Ramanujar hailed from Sriperumbudur and a pivotal point in his lifetime, receiving the Ashtakshara mantram, happened in Thirukoshtiyur, he made Thiruvarangam his home after the demise of his Acharya in spirit, Alavanthar or Yamunacharya. Inside the temple complex, there is a separate temple dedicated to the goddess Andal. Additionally, there is a museum, a library and a bookshop.

Pretty nice temple, but it isn't feel as big as claimed. Like, there is an entire town inside the temple premises, so it doesn't feel as if the temple itself is 800 acres big, rather it feels like the temple is just a part of an 800 acre sized town. Still a beautiful experience.

Massive temple. Worlds largest temple. Those who value India's heritage must visit. Unlike north Indian temples where Pandas and priests who pester you to part with your money here everything is orderly and systematic. Any payment you are required to make is acknowledged by an official receipt.

The biggest Hindu Temple in world dedicated to Lord Vishnu with total area occupancy of approx 150 acres. The Gopuram of the temple largest among all the temples in India with total 13 storeys. There are total 3 Gopurams in the main entrance with the outer as the largest one. This temple is the most important one located in the srirangam Island of Trichy. The artecture of the temple is so amazing and unique. The Gopuram of the temple can be seen almost from all the elevated area of Trichy. One of the most mesmerizing construction which proves to be the most unique construction of mankind is the horses carved from a single stone. Even the ropes of the horses looks like real rope made up of stone. The temple is mostly crowded due to huge number of devotees visiting here daily. There are two ways of getting darshan, one is the free line and the other one is the paid service line with a charge of Rs. 100. The free line takes about 2-3 hours to reach near the sanctum. The sanctum of Lord visnu is in form of sleeping position in the Ses Naag. After blessed with Darshan of Lord Vishnu you can have a darshan of Mata Laxmi whose temple is just behind the main temple.

The Sri Ranganatha Swamy Temple in Trichy is an architectural marvel. Its intricate carvings and towering gopurams leave visitors in awe. The temple is dedicated to Lord Ranganatha, a form of Lord Vishnu, and is one of the largest functioning Hindu temples in the world. The temple's sprawling complex houses various shrines, halls, and sacred ponds. The serene atmosphere and spiritual aura make it a peaceful place for devotees. The temple's rich history and cultural significance add to its appeal. The temple's location on an island in the Cauvery River makes it a picturesque and tranquil setting. Overall, the Sri Ranganatha Swamy Temple is a must-visit destination for its architectural splendor, religious significance, and peaceful ambiance. Trick: It is better to buy the paid Rs 100 ticket than going into the free line. The priest allows people to go inside the sanctum santorum, so it takes a lot of time to go inside. The paid line gets priority to go inside santum santorum and all priority people are cleared before letting the free line move. It is a way to force people to cough up money but works for the temple and Govt pockets all the money. I took a free line considering only 60 people in front of me. It took almost an hour to finish the darshan. Additionally, people with small kids or older folks get priority just before the temple entrance only.

This is another enormous premises located in Trichy, Srirangam. Unfortunately when we arrived in the afternoon the inner sanctum was closed and was opening at 6.00 PM. We would have been late if we waited until that time. But we took a stroll in the premises itself and felt very peaceful. Only one temple was open for the quick darshan but even that queue was huge for us to wait. The enormous gopuram is colourful and has one after the other on all 4 sides.

If love, at first sight, have some definition I find it here. The curving and colour combination is amazing. We need to maintain our heritage. Cleanliness is a issue here. If you are not Hindu also you can visit the temple. The government should include the history of those temple in our school syllabus.

Good decent safe place to stay for temple visit. Room is spacious. Lot of Car parking space available. Has good water facility. Non AC room costs only 500 Rs. Two beds are there in room with bed sheets, pillow. Toiletries ( soap, towel, brush, tooth paste etc..) are not provided, people need to bring on their own. Room has a cupboard to keep things and dressing table with mirror. Comfortable stay. Railway track is near by, you might hear train sound at night but eventually you will fall asleep nicely. It has full time watchman at main gate and staffs at entrance of each block. Spacious lengthy corridor in front of rooms. Don't know about restaurant as early morning started for temple visits. I recommend this place for family and for group temple tour members.Very safe, decent place.

One of the biggest vishnu temples in South india, lots of God's to worship, even 3 hours not enough to roam the temple.Waiting time in weekends, especially saturday is more, if 100 rs ticket means we can worship as early as free darshan. But in evening around 6:00PM darshan will be closed, will open around 7:00PM only. Very clean place. In many locations drinking water & fan available. Thaayar sannithi available in South gopuram & Perumal sannithi available in North gopuram (main)

Srirangam is one of the ancient temples in Trichy. This temple is one of India's largest and has the tallest gopura in the country 239.501 ft. It was constructed in the year of 1987 AD. It is Vishnu temple where we can see him, in a lying position with the five-headed snake. The major festival celebrated in this temple is Vaikuntha Ekadasi.

Divya Desam main temple. This temple is called periya temple and many other names by Vaishnavi people. Temple is very big and about two hours required for to go round temple and take many art pictures. This is one of a big art treasure. Don't go on festival and important dates. Go on weekdays and better go on ticket dharshan. First visit to Sri rangan and Thayar sanathi and go round the temple with free time.

Architectural Paradise Its a visual treat for your eyes. The centuries old architecture is simply awesome. Try avoiding visits on holidays & Sundays as crowd would be huge. Vaikunda Eadasi is the prime festival here. There is special entrance for Rs.250 & Rs.50 for easy access to shrine, this can be helpful to avoid waiting time in queue. Spend real good time in and around the temple premise to really enjoy the marvel.

It is an ideal place to stay at affordable cost, especially for the pilgrims (in groups) visiting to the Spiritual Srirangam Island. The rooms are very spacious and are quite well maintained. The Government property provide all basic amenities except television and wifi (it's good in one way that you can stay away from media and entertainment and spend quality time with friends/families). Thanks to Govt., for creating and maintaining such a comfortable facilities for the pilgrims.

I suggest triranga Darshanam pilgrims to take Malai Mahadeshwara - Metturu- Bhavani route instead of anthiyur, this is the best and fastest route, roads are in good condition. Requesting temple committee to put temple visit route board and make use of English language Sri Ranganatha swamy temple, Holi place for Hindus, especially for vaishnava's. as per Vaishnva sampradaya this place is the last place of Triranga Darshanam and Pancharanga Darshanam. A very big temple with 4 gates and Gopura, there are 3 similar gooura's at each gate. Templenhas Very big raja gopura and prangana,

This temple is located between two rivers (Kollidam & Cauvery). The overall temple is very wide and there are lots of god's status and buildings. Parking is a bit challenge here, we have roam around the temple to find a car parking slot. If the management take any steps to work on increasing the parking space, that would be a great help.

Important : a. Such a beautiful site dripping with History of 3 empires and invasions and spirituality would warrant a better administration of million + visitors annually, right? Nope. The temple is uniquely designed horribly for crowd management and elderly access. With the complete lack of ramps and steep staircases present everywhere, most elderly instead of having a satisfied view would much rather come out with lot of knee, back and leg pains primarily due to the non existent crowd management and large time blocks spent standing in a claustrophobic crowd. During my visit I saw at least 15 elderly in pain getting first aid of some sort. b. There is 0 disability access here, so if you are disabled just be ready for bad treatment c. In the evening on a normal day, although the temple opens at 5pm, the presiding dietys temple only opens at 7pm, so plan accordingly. d. There is a lack of seating chairs, drinking water is limited and has narrow passageways. So make sure to carry at least one water bottle per person and carry your headphones to break the boredom of standing in a line. e. Being one of the centers of Hinduism, this temple attracts lot of VIPs, so be ready to be stuck in line for hours as VIPs get preferential access to the main diety. When to visit : The Tamil month of Margazhi(Typically December - January) is the best time to visit this temple as it becomes the center for beautiful and soul stirring music which although religious also acts as a platform to showcase the greatest artists of South Indian Carnatic music. How to plan: Present within the city limits of Tiruchirappalli, it takes 60 minutes from the airport and is 10-15 minutes from the bus stands. Auto is the preferred way of commuting to this place. I would recommend plan one full day in Trichy, visit Ucchi Pillaiyar in the morning and this temple in the evening. A brief context of the temple for history fans Spread over 155 acres of land, consisting of 81 shrines the Srirangam temple is the largest Hindu temple in the world and the second largest temple behind Angkor Wat. Presently on the UNESCO Heritage site nominee list, this temple is a beautiful glimpse into the origins of Bhakti movement of the Vishnu worshipping clan - Vaishnavites. Historically this temple functioned as a city center with all facilities not just spiritual for the citizens and has been the focus of a lot of invasions just like Hagia Sophia due to its presence beside the Kaveri river. Originally built by the Cholas, and then rebuilt by Pandyas and Vijayanagara empire. This is a beautiful example of Dravidian Architecture

Sri Ranganatha Swamy temple at Srirangam, also know as Bhooloka Vaikuntam is located about 12 kilometres (7.5 mi) north of the city of Tiruchirappalli. The temple site is on a large island bounded by the Kaveri River and Kollidam River. It is vast and planned as a temple occupies an area of 155 acres with more than 50 shrines, 21 towers (Gopuram) and many Mandapams (Halls) is one of the largest religious complexes in the world. The main shrines of this temple for Ranganatha Swamy. This shrine sanctum has a golden vimanam it is shaped like the Tamil omkara . some other shrines are this temple Ranganayaki (Lakshmi), Chakkaratalvar, Narasimha, Rama, Hayagriva, Dhanvantari and Gopala Krishna and separate shrines for Vaishnava saint Ramanujar. This temple has many mandapams like Thousand pillar mandapam, Sesharaya mandapam, Garuda Mandapam, Kili mandapam and Ranga Vilasa Mandapam are this mandapams finest example for Architecture and stone artwork. There are 21 gopurams among which the towering Rajagopuram is the tallest temple tower in Asia. The 13-tiered Rajagopuram was built in 1987 and other 20 goprams were built between the 12th and early 17th centuries.

Beautiful admiring Holy place. Here Ranganathr beautifully blessing all. Here big Raja Gopuram in South side. Gopurams are all in four directions. You can enter through any gopuram. Usually devotees enter in South direction. Three mother Goddess in thaayar sannidhi. Usually perumal devotees calling this kovil as BOOLOGA VAIGUNTHAM . Big festival is vaigunda ekadashi. Usually all the days the kovil is filled huge number of devotees. If you want to see thoroughly this kovil which is ancient holy one it will take more than one day. Every Hindu worship this god at least one time in their life. Have a great day.

Hindu Temple for Lord Vishnu. Its a huge temple with great architectural work. It may take more than hour to watch the beauty of this temple and depending upon the crowd it may takes hours to worship the main deity Lord Ranganatha Swamy. If you are a artistic lover, it may takes several days. The main Gopuram or entrance tower is the tallest in this part of India. The scultures in this temple are carved very beautifully. Wearing shoes inside Hindu Temples are not allowed as such you can wear socks if you are visiting during hot sunny days.

The infrastructure of Srirangam temple is good. Well maintained, clean and neat. However, the attitude of priests need to change. They are very arrogant and harsh to the devotees. They talk whatever comes to their mind. Management needs to improve in allowing the devotees to the main deity without waiting in queue. They unnecessarily make the devotees to wait for 3 to 4 hours. Too much waiting time to go the main garbagraha. Some of the devotees felt giddy while waiting in the queue. Poor crowd management !!!

Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to Ranganatha (a form of Vishnu), located in Srirangam, Tiruchirapalli, Tamil Nadu. It is the most illustrious Vaishnava temples in South India rich in legend and history. The temple has played an important role in Vaishnavism history starting with the 11th-century career of Ramanuja (whose statue is now built as "Statue of Equality" in Hyderabad) and his predecessors Nathamuni and Yamunacharya in Srirangam. Ramanuja's samadhi is also situated inside the temple. Its location, on an island between the Kollidam and Kaveri rivers, is also unique. The temple was looted and destroyed by the Delhi Sultanate armies in early 14th century. The temple was rebuilt in late 14th century, the site fortified and expanded with many more gopurams in the 16th and 17th centuries. It was one of the hubs of early Bhakti movement with a devotional singing and dance tradition, but this tradition stopped during the 14th century and was revived in a limited way much later. The temple occupies an area of 155 acres (63 ha) with 81 shrines, 21 towers, 39 pavilions, and many water tanks integrated into the complex making it the world's largest functioning Hindu temple. The Srirangam temple is the largest temple compound in India and one of the largest religious complexes in the world. Srirangam temple is often listed as one of the largest functioning Hindu temple in the world, the still larger Angkor Wat being the largest existing temple. According to the puranas, Brahma was performing austerities during the Samudra Manthana (churning of cosmic ocean), and Srirangam Vimanam emerged as a result. It remained in Satyaloka for ages, was brought to Ayodhya by king Ikshvaku. After Rama, an avatar of Vishnu, had killed the evil demon Ravana, he gave it to King Vibhishana who wanted to be with Rama. When Vibhishana passed through Tiruchi en route to Sri Lanka where he had become the king, the Srirangam Vimanam would not move from the island. So, he gave it to a local king called Dharmavarma, if the king consecrated the Vimanam to face the south cardinal direction eternally, blessing him and Lanka. Hence, it is that the deity (in a reclining posture) faces South, his body aligned to the east-west axis. But history says otherwise. The temple was first built by the Chola ruler, Dharmavarma. The Kaveri river flood destroyed the temple vimanam, and later, the early Cholas King Killivalavan rebuilt the temple complex as is present today. Beyond the ancient textual history, archaeological evidence such as inscriptions refer to this temple, but these stone inscriptions are from late 1st millennium CE. The inscriptions in the temple belong to the Chola, Pandya, Hoysala and Vijayanagara dynasties who ruled over the region. These inscriptions range in date between the 9th and 16th centuries. We could take photos of the girl's statues, but could not take the photos of Nachiyar as that group of temples was cordoned off for rennovation. As it is one of the largest temples in the world, it requires signficant time for a complete visit. The "darshan" takes anything between half-an-hour to couple of hours (depending on the rush), and the visit of the complete premise would take another couple of hours. The Ranga Ranga Gopuram (at south) is the main Gopuram, and one should enter from here. Also, do not miss the "view point" (marked clearly after the etrance from south), where one can climb up on to the roof of one of the buildings and can see a panoramic view of the entire temple complex. Though the temple is open from 6AM to 9PM, the main sanctume has opening and closing timings as such-- Viswaroopa seva: 06:00 to 07:15; (No Darshan) - Pooja time: 07:15 to 09:00; Darshan Timings: 09:00 to 12:00; (No Darshan) - Pooja time: 12:00 to 13:15; Darshan Timings: 13:15 to 18:00; (No Darshan) - Pooja time: 18:00 to 18:45; Darshan Timings: 18:45 to 21:00.

I had a desire to visit the temple from long time. The beauty of the temple amused me. Such beautiful carvings, temple planning , architecture and climate control measures. The temple premises is cleanly maintained. I advise you to visit the temple for darshana before 12PM and after 3PM. The line for darshana will be very long even after taking special tickets worth 100 each. The temple has very confined parking space, Should be very carefull before parking.

The temple complex is gorgeous. It’s also massive and difficult to cover that easily. There are four entrances too so it may get confusing. We entered from the East gate. And followed instructions from Google. There is an electric golf cart service that plies across and is free of cost. We took the shuttle a couple of times to move to and fro The temple is huge that’s why it gets very confusing and for some reason they have not marked the structures well. It’s difficult to explore without proper signages. We were mostly lost because it was very crowded even at 6:30 am. It was Republic day holiday so a lot of people had descended for the darshan. The queue was so long that we gave up doing darshan. However we walked around to the other sites in the complex. Out of the all the four temples I saw in my last trip to Tamil Nadu, this one was the most inefficient one in terms of maintenance. The thousand pillar hall was closed and one could see that it’s been used as a dumping yard of sorts for various items. It’s not even marked properly. Only after asking a few ppl we could reach there and were disappointed to see it in that state. There was another hall opposite to that which had gorgeous carved pillars but nothing written there about it. There’s so much history there but no signage to explain or inform people. That was a let down. So the trick is to hire a good Guide and then see the temple. But for ‘darshan’ better to go early morning. There were no guides available at the site so I guess you have to search and book in advance. I’m sure there will be some locals.

Must visit Vishnu Shrine. Beyond religious reasons, the temple has great great architecture. Learning and knowing the history and understanding the significance of this place or any living historic temples is the least every Hindu can and should do. The temple uniquely allows everyone to go to the roof top and see the 21 gopuras, which is a must visit. It's a very small price. Needless to say this is the largest functional temple in the world.

This is one of the self manifested kshetras and also the first divyadesham if I am not wrong. The temple has giant Gopurams on all four sides and also houses other temples dedicated to other deities. One must have the vishwaroopam darshan which will be in the morning around 6 AM. The vishwaroopam darshan involves the rishabha(cow) vahana and elephant taking the Darshana of Lord Sri Ranganatha. The scene is divine and mesmerizing. The temple is well maintained and has a battery operated buggy for elderly people. The temple complex also has a Lakshmi Devi sannidhi.
