A huge north-facing Main Guard Gate forms the main entrance to the fort complex. Located on the major fort wall, this fort gate encloses the periphery of the Rock Fort and its temples, palaces, lakes, and bazaars. This imposing stone edifice is a strong reminder of the tumultuous wars of centuries past.

Business hub for various textiles and jewel merchants. Nsc Bose road, west bouleward road, singarathoppu all mainly business centres. Archeological monuments also situated in this area.

This has been recently painted (Dec 2021) and is well maintained as you see from the picture I have uploaded. But this gate is mizzled within the busy market area so it is quite easy to miss. Glad the authorities have stopped any vehicle movement from it. Evenings it looks nice.

It is a historical gate built by the kings. Presently it serves as the entrance for shopping area. Right from the start of the entrance one can see roadside vendors selling fruits, veges, fancy items, etc. From there if one takes a walk straight which will lead to Rockfort. It is a one way for vehicle. One can start from Gandhi Market arch and can reach a parallel road close to Main guard gate in a vehicle.

Stupidest administration with pathetic drainage system. This place visited after 22 years. People are not serious nor anyone interested in giving proper system....one rain for 45 min and this place is a garbage. If you are going here ...don't go...you get better things in online or any other place. Visit rockfort and return avoid shopping as not the worth. Coming to rest of places apart from rockfort is nothing great. Crowded with a never ending crowd. Don't dare to take vehicles unless you are a localite. Sad to see no one cares about this place.

Looking at Rock fort and adjoining Tank are unique experience. That tank is fully eclipsed by shops selling garments. Better upkeep needed.
