The temple area is not so big, and yet it was decorated beautifully ith gardens. The entire area was maintained pristinely clean. The temple looks like a Keralian house. There are restrictions about dress codes. Shorts are not allowed for males, and shorts/ tight jeans etc. are not allowed for females. My wife was wearing a kurti and leggings, and she was given a "churni"/"dupatta" at the entrance by the temple authority. (Please note: They didn't force us to wear it. They just gave it to my wife, and we abided by their rules). When we visited, prasadam was offered to devotees (at around 11 AM), but we had a very heavy breakfast and didn't want to waste food, so we didn't tke the prasadam. Overall, it is a nice temple for visit. Total time required for the visit is between 30 minutes to one hour.

    - Very well maintained temple - Self discipline is being followed by the devotees - Even every one follows queue without disturbing others - There is separate place for meditation which is open all days except busy days (eg: new yr) - I have visited many times and always came out with peace of mind. - Please switch off your mobile phones before entering the temple and maintain queue - More informative quotes and devotional songs are there in walls of temple, but those can be read only on weekdays when the temple is without crowd.

A very calm and peaceful temple. Built in recent times(in 90s), the temple has many interesting information, right from different herbal plants to the various Siva temples locations. Very silent place and good for meditation. Strict rules to maintain discipline. Located at heart of the city, the temple is well maintained.

A vast campus. One crises a well groomed garden before entering the temple proper. No Hundis. No collection platters. Just pure bhakti. Even the many instruction boards are in polite language rather than orders. Great temple if you want raw, unadulterated Bhakti experience.

Wonderful place. I have been visiting this temple since 1995. And every time I come to Trichy. An unusual temple with a sanctity that imbues spirituality. It's a great crowd puller but designed in such a way that you don't feel it's crowded.

It's a well disciplined temple Fixed with some traditional rules especially for dress. Dress code is strictly adhered nd they are helping us to maintain by providing dupattas, dhoties Shawls etc.. Pleasant identity of Trichy city Must visit temple.. Other temples also can follow the instructions and rules to maintain calm and clean atmosphere which is required for each and every temple ...in Trichy. Devoties also follow the instructions scrupulously is a surprising factor. Do we need someone to control us even in the temple. We can follow the same discipline at other temples also without anyone's control.. No need to carry any archana plate or other things for Pooja.. Ghee is available and we can pay for poojas ..they will perform for us.. Highlight is distribution of tasty buttermilk in summer on all days at free of cost for 2 hours ..11-1 pm Thousands of people are coming to have this, including rich people.... Role model temple in all aspects..

Ayyappan Temple is situated at Major Saravanan Salai, Cantonment, Tiruchirappalli. It is beautiful, Simple, Clean and serene. Whoever comes to this temple will become most disciplined. For more than 4 decades this temple is very nicely maintained. The main shrine is Lord Ayyappa . There are Ganesha, Nagaraja and Bagavathi Amman shrines are there . There is a display of stones collected from important pilgrimage centres all over India. A big prayer hall is there. Every minute thing being maintained properly. Mobile phone and photography not allowed inside the temple premises. A beautiful garden is maintained inside the temple. Kudos to Ayyappa Seva Sangam. This temple is very easily accessible. Make a visit to this temple with family and feel the difference.

A very beautiful and lovely temple. Well maintained with a lot of sannidhis. Extremely neat with lots of information. There are no businesses inside or outside the temple nor any sort of donation collection. They have a strict dress code, but help you out in case you are not aware about the dress code by providing free dress for temporary use. There is a beautiful herbal garden where u can go for a walk during particular timings. Only minus I felt was that one of the staff at the front office was a bit rude when we tried to sanitize our hands. Overall I would give this place a big old 5 stars.

One of the cleanest temples in Tamil Nadu, it definitely is a must visit in the city, pleasant very quiet, they do happen to have some strict rules about the dress code for women, please bare that in mind.. Lord Ayyappan is the main god , a very beautiful god. You would feel the peace in this temple and ambience

Most clean, controlled, beautiful serene temple. I have seen many temples across the country. But this temple takes the top postion in cleanliness and ambience. The temple management is strict in enforcing discipline in the temple. There are separate lines for Gents and ladies. Girls have to observe proper dress code. if they forget to bring duppata, they issue one. I liked all the deities placed there. one of the corner is dedicated for mother and a song from Rajinikant (Mannan movie) was playing. Another place has all temples of India marked. It also has a stone placed for each place. im not sure whether these stones were brought from those places. It was very interesting. Kudos to the temple management. very innovative ideas...

A very beautiful and divinefull place in a lust green garden..... Children will love it... Most importantly every devote is treated equally... No priority to anyone... To prove this one should visit on festive or any new year day... Self organised crowd perfectly walks away in a disciplined way... Which is a rare phenomena in any Temple

So happy to visit after almost a decade. Maintaining the same way with very good condition. I have never seen such a calm temple with proper hindu rituals

  • 1/5 Vijayasarathi R. 1 year ago on Google
I visited the temple on 09 Aug at about 7.40am in a regular half trousers (nothing sporty or revealing of any sort) and t-shirt. Was told by the staff that men are not allowed to enter with 3/4 pants. There is a signing as well. I don't agree with these restrictive rule made by humans to worship God. But, a rule is a rule and I was willing to follow and asked for spare sarong or even one to buy. The management doesn't offer. At the time I went there is no shop that is open and I didn't bring any Dhoti (1 day travel to Trichy in a 2 weeks holiday from Sydney). Attention Management - if you are making rules you should also know how to help devotees who were genuinely not aware of such dress code.

Peaceful temple, which has a calming and soothing environment. They follow a strict dress code and mobile phone usage is strictly prohibited(they've posted stickers at every corner you can lay eyes on which I found a bit overbearing ). You spend quality time here.

Very nice and serene temple. They follow all the agamas properly. However, the temple doesn't have any parking facilities and therefore all the devotees visiting here have to park on the road, which makes it very difficult to visit here

One of the places in Trichy where you can find peace amongst the busy surroundings and appreciate the little time you spent on silence which triggers lot of unanswered questions in your mind and yet you feel relaxed with positive energy and acknowledge as something divine is always directing the good thing is us

This temple is a great pride of Trichy city and it differs from other temples in Trichy because of its disciplined activities of enforcing pilgrims visiting temple with traditional dress only, switch off cellphones, maintain strict silence and all are given equal welcome inside the temple to have darshan of Lord Ayyappan. When you are in silent zone, you can pray God very devotionally and heave a sigh of relief from all worries and stress. Even during festive occasion people can have darshan of Lord Ayyappan at ease with free prasadam provided by temple management at the exit of temple due to systematic maintenance of queue by volunteers. Temple management does lot of social activities like blood donation, yoga classes for all ages of people, annadanams contributed by devotees, providing very good quality buttermilk to public during summer.

Temple is nice and peaceful but one of the gentlemen at the front of the entrance was very rude to us because some members of my family were not dressed as per the dress code. As it was an impromptu visit and having just landed. I was taken back because we just went along with what was required but yet he made uncalled for remarks regarding our dressing and upbringing of the kids

The vibration that you get in this temple is something different. Every person should experience that, even non religious people. 30 mins spent in silence is absolutely a self realisation of who you are and gives clarity to your all thoughts. Best place in Trichy.

Visited this temple today. From Srirangam travelled 20mts to this temple which is located in Cantonment area. Neat, silent atmosphere welcomed me. Devoted to Sri Aiyyappan, lot of restrictions are laid on dress attire’s, besides maintaining absolute silence. This silence is much needed in the present stressful scenario. A must visit temple where Anandanam, Makara villakku, Onam are grandly celebrated.

Good place to find peace. The temple maintenance is appreciable thing, everything is maintained well and good in a neat manner. One of the best place to seek blessings from the god. The main deity of the temple is lord Ayyapa. Very serene place with some trees and greenery. The Tulasi water that is provided here tastes divine. The stones that are brought from important pilgrimage centre across India are displayed here.
