Loved this place. Great experience while visiting this place. Devotional place with full of positive vibes. One of the beautiful hill temple in Trichy, Tamilnadu. Visited most of the times in my life. Lord Ganesha is main god here in this temple. Need to climb the hill to see the temple, climbing means there are steps to go up. Full city view from the top of mountain was amazing. Good and beautiful memories and experiences in this place.

Excellent example of Beautiful Temple, it's a very quiet place located near the mid of city with beautiful idols of Ganesha. Fully equipped with all the facilities for the devotees like washrooms and eateries and a fabulous well maintained temple. parking place available. About 417 steps to climb in order for you to meet him. Once you're up there, the view is so good. Scenic panoramic view of Tiruchirapalli.

In this community, this temple is one of the best. The temple's ambience has a psychological effect that helps people focus on their goals. The temple's setting opens up a whole new realm of spirituality and keeps our minds focused on the issues that we face in society.

Beautiful temple with scenic view on the top. 1st one can visit the Thayumanavar temple for which one gas to climb around 200 odd steps. The temple in itself is beautiful and is an architectural wonder! Then one can proceed to the Uchi Pillayar Temple which is another 200 odd steps ahead. During this climb which is steep and slanting uou can even halt for refreshments and there is also a gift shop. The view from the top is incredible! You can see almost everything in and around Trichy!

Uchi Pillaiyar Temple must vist place in trichy and one of the oldest temple. Hardly will take 15-20 mins for middle age and near to 30 mins for old age to reach the temple and to get the blessings of Pillaiyar. Try to avoid walking after 11am it I'll be too hot and steps will be to Height and at end too sharp need to take care of kids and old people. View from temple will be awesome Srirangam and river view will be nice and pleasent.

Ucchi Pillayar temple is also know as Arulmigu Thayumana Swamy Temple is a popular temple dedicated to Lord Vinayaga located on the Rock Fort temple complex in Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu. The Rockfort temple complex has three shrines, two of which are dedicated to Lord Ganesha, Manikka Vinayagar Temple at the foot and Ucchi Pillayar temple at the top, and the Thayumanavar temple between them. The Thayumanavar temple, the largest of the three, houses a shrine for Amman (the Goddess) as well as the main deity. Mythologically, this rock is the place where Lord Ganesh fled from King Vibishana, after having established the Ranganathaswamy deity in Srirangam. Had to take steps, drinking water facilities and washrooms are provided by the temple authority.long view of sreerangam temple gopuram and river kaveri is amazing, temple is so close to a market place and car parking seems little bit problem.

Greatest experience one could never miss. We went from Srirangam to uchi pillayar temple via auto. Some one in the hotel which we stayed said not to use car to reach the temple. It was a good info as the roads near the temple was not so broad and its advicable to reach via auto. Temple timing till evening 7.30. No entrance fee which is quite good. Archana ticket is 5 rupees. Steps to reach the top were nearly 200 but you won't feel that tired as you hve plenty of space to rest in as well. There were some temples on both sides of steps and it is advicable to view those while returning. We reached top and it took 15 mins to reach , kids reached much earlier . Pillayar is on the top of the mountain and he is looks pretty graceful. The site from the top is beauty to the core. We went during evening 6 and it was drizzling already. Overall the climate was stunning cool with breeze. While returning after some 100 steps we went to thayumanvar sannidhi which is truly magnificent construction. The temple inside a cave. Lot to walk inside and those drawing in the ceilings and the gopuram internally was truly amazing. We visited two more temples while climbing down. Climbing down is much easier compared to climbing up. It took only half the time for us to come down. At the entrance we have another pillayar sannidhi which is nearly maintained . Lot of shops at the entrance which keeps the entrance pretty busy. The road in the entrance is the busiest road with loads of shopping . You can see all the branded shops in the street but crowded to the core. Getting a auto for returning was the task . The actual as per OLA was 65 rupees and they charged 200 bugs to return. But barring those the temple visit is purely awesome. Im planning to visit again with my parents. Must visit place .

It is also called as the rock fort temple which is situated in the city centre of Trichi.. This temple is located on the hilltop from where you will get to see Trichy city. Climbing to the top is not that much tough hardly it will take half an hour. It is just 2 km from city bus stand. You have to hire an auto to go to its foot hill and then you have to start climbing

Landmark in Trichy. Very well crafted hill into a beautiful temple. One must be little fit to trek up to the top. The top view is amazing and cool breezes are very soothing after a challenging trek. Must visit in Trichy. Night view is top good with lights and climate..

A 7th century Uchi Pillaiyar temple mainly of Vinayaka temple at top of the hill in Trichy. We need to climb 437 steps across the hill. Highlight of this temple complex we find huge halls where other God idols like Shiva, Parvathi, Armugam also we find in the middle of the hill. We feel pleasure to watch beauties of wonderful sculptures of even security guards at that time and also more meaningful brain sharping paintings with different thoughts. In all sub-temples, poojas and decorations are made to dieties. We feel like spending more time looking at amazing architecture of temple.

It's a beautiful temple which can be seen from far as well as gives you a beautiful view of the city. Lots of stairs to climb, advice to go early morning or late evening to avoid peak sun. Can see beautiful mantapas and temples on way to the top. Be careful of monkeys if you carrying food and decide to eat on way. There is locker facility at the base charging 55rs to deposit luggage. Washroom is available midway. The temples are just beautiful and the rock cut work gives them cave like look

This temple is located in the heart of the city. It's very famous and favourite from my childhood. The story of this temple is so famous that it's a must visit place in Trichy. Story behind this temple- When Ravana's brother Vibishana was offered with a Lord Perumal statue by Lord Rama after the successful victory, Vibishana was so overwhelmed by this gesture that he wanted to carry this back to Srilanka to built a divine place. But the Devas don't want to be in the hands of Vibishana who is a good person but from Ashura kula. So they requested Pillayar(Ganesha) to help them. So Pillayar went in a child's form and he helped Vibishana by holding the statue when he wanted to rest sometime. As Vibishana came back after having water from the river, Pillayar kept the statue in land and Vibishana could not move the same. So angrily Vibishana hit Pillayar on his head. Then Pillayar showed his original form and thus there came a voice that the statue wants to stay in the same place. And Pillayar also stayed nearby and in the direction of the Perumal statue which became Srirangam. It's very old temple structure that is a treat for travellers. Also Thayumanavar temple also located on the way to Uchi Pillayar temple.

An amazing sight in the night, once on top the view is breathtaking and the spiritual vibe is outstanding. Be sure not to go on a hot sunny day…and ensure adequate water supply to quench your thirst. An ancient architecture that would mesmerise your inner curiosity. Basically the whole hill is the temple carved into the stone walls of the rock hill. An ancient marble.

Our dharshan was good and it took close to 30 mins to reach top with kids. Just be careful and keep your belongings safe (if you have any bananas). Monkeys will be there in the top and they will try to get bananas from you. Also, be little cautious on the top if you are going with kids/elderly people, steps will be steep and more slanted.

Wonderful place. Very important to climb during the evening time. Sunny mornings or rainy days can be tricky. Most of the steps are carved out of the hill and hence uneven and not plane. There are shops for snacks and drinks at the top to refresh before the downhill. The manikka Vinayahar temple at the bottom of the hill, thayumanavar Sannidhi in the middle and uchchi pillayar at the top of the hill. People pray to thayumanavar for their pregnant wives or daughters to have safe delivery. Once delivered, there is a practice to take a full set of banana (வாழைத்தார்) to thayumanavar sannadhi and offer prayers. The sight from the hill top is amazing. You can see the entire city from there and it’s very peaceful during sunset. The downhill climb can be trickier than the uphill. Would advice medium pace during the return.

As a visitor to Trichy, I loved this place. It also offers you a compulsory LEG DAY routine (climbing many stairs) for enjoying the view from top... 😄. Since I had language barrier, I took an autorickshaw from Trichy Railway station. If you speak/understand Tamil, a bus is much more affordable option.

Ucchi Pillayar Temple is a 7th-century Hindu temple, one dedicated to Lord Ganesha located a top of Rock Fort, Trichy, Tamil Nadu, India. The Rock Fort temple stands 83 metres (272 ft) tall perched atop a rock. The smooth rock was first cut by the Pallavas but it was the Nayaks of Madurai who completed both the temples under the Vijayanagara empire. The temple facing East on the top of city with a panoramic view all around. Around 450 steps to climb. The top view from the city look awesome at night time.

Ucchipillayar Temple is beautiful heritage temple. There is around 415 steps to reach the deity which might be a bit tiring but it's worth it. It is also called Rock fort temple. It is recommended to visit the temple either early in the morning or in the evening during summers. Breezy fresh air and the view from the top is all what you'll love!!! Overall it is a must visit for a beautiful experience.

Located on the top of a small rock mountain in the city centre of Trichy. Very powerful god. Lord Vinayaka located on the top of the hill , in the middle lord shiva with Parvathi gives Darshan for us. Here couples comes to get the blessing of Thayumanavar swamy(lord shiva) to get promotion as parents (to get baby). We have to walk along the rock steps to get the Darshan of Gods. Wonderful mind blowing atmosphere at the top of the hill near uchi Pillayar shrine. Once you reach the top you can see Srirangam, Cauvery and many small mounts and can feel the pleasant breeze at the top. One word- Relaxation. There is NO PARKING FACILITY. Devotees kindly avoid plastic. SAVE NATURE, GET BLESSED. Enjoy the NATURE

Pray to lord Manicka Vinayagar at the foot of the hill and climb up. On the way up there's a shrine for Lord Shiva as Thayumanavar Swamy. Top most shrine is for Uchi Pillayar. The temple is on a one way road and there is no parking close by. Best if you can take a tuk tuk or the public transportation.

I've really enjoyed a quick trek to the temple in the middle of the tireless city. It was really good to see all the smiling faces once they reached the peak. The view from the top is amazing (if you get a chance to see a train , wonderful!).

Vinayaka temple. The view from the temple is beautiful. The temple is situated at hill known as rock fort. One will have to climb 400-500 stairs up and down to reach the temple. Lord Vinaya or Lord Ganesha is there inside the temple. The view of the city and river is very beautiful. From this temple one can see the Erumbeesheswara temple. Ucchi Pillayar Temple is a 7th-century Hindu temple, one dedicated to Lord Ganesha located a top of Rockfort, Trichy, Tamil Nadu, India. According to legend, this rock is the place where Lord Ganesha ran from King Vibishana, after establishing the Ranganathaswamy deity in Srirangam. Tiruchirapalli Rock Fort is also fondly called as Malaikottai in Tamil.

A beautiful heritage site giving you a grand view of the bustling city of Tiruchirapalli from the perfect vantage point. Estimated to be built in the early 7th century under Mahendravarman, this place is a beautiful exhibit of Pallava's iconography Time taken & Effort: An average fit person will take 15-20 minutes to climb and 10 minutes to get down. It is a total of around 450 steps uphill. The steps occur in sets of 20-30 at a time. With widely available seating it is accessible to even the elderly with some effort but very difficult for the disabled. There's no other way to reach it other than by foot. Important note : a. Carry one water bottle before starting your ascent as the next water stop is after climbing 400 steps only and this will become difficult in Summers. After 400 steps you will find a stall with soft drinks etc b. As of 2023, there are two Abhishekams for the diety in the morning, one at 7-7:30 and the next at 10 am c. There is one other beautiful temple midway of Meenakshi Sundareshwar and Lord Shiva in Gangadhar avatar don't miss it. d. The place to leave your shoes are random and looked pretty safe with a lot of hawkers at the entry forcing you to buy stuff which you can avoid. Parking is non existent, so plan to reach here by foot. e. Although an archaeological survey of India heritage site, it seems like they are not allowing visibly non Hindus to enter, very unfortunate and entitled but there's no explicit checking. How to reach : 40 minutes from the airport, take an auto or a cab for it. 10 minutes walk from the city center on the left side of River Kaveri.

Shri Manikka Vinayagar temple on the highest hilltop near Kaveri river is an iconic identity of Trichy city. Small but beautiful Shri Ganesh temple facing East on the top of city with a panoramic view all around. More then 400 steps to climb. Step near the top are uneven and one must be careful while going up or coming down. Just below the top rock there is a Pallava period cave with pillars - 1400 years old. On the way to this Shri Ganesha temple is the grand temple of Shri Thayumana Swamy Shiva temple. One of the finest Shiva temples on hillock with a biggest Shiva Linga. Seperate sannidhi for Shri Mattuvar Kuzhali Amman (Parvathi Devi)

Mesmerizing temple sitting in the centre of Trichy. Very well constructed with hard efforts. Bowing to the people whomever worked on this temple construction and renovation 👏👏 Around 500 steps to top. Max 30 mins to reach the top to see Uchi Pillayar.. Either go in the morning or go after 6pm in the evening to enjoy the city view and chilling wind.. In the half way down the big Shiva temple is soo eye opening 🙇 They have carved the rock and built the temple. You can spend 2-3 hours easily here.. Areas around the temple is like T.Nagar nothing else to say 😐

I have been visiting this temple since childhood, for a good 3 to 4 times till now. It iswonder how in the ancient days a temple was carved out of a single rock. Hence the name, Rockfort. At the entrance to the temple is Manikya Vinayagar, another Ganesha temple. Also, in the same premises is Thayumanavar (Shiva temple). It is believed that those who have been childless for years, come here to seek blessings as it is fruitful. Amazing views of the city from atop at the Uchhi Pillaiyar temple. A calm feeling when you reach the temple. Luckily this time too, on 28th June, 2023, it was very breezy and weather was good.

Great experience, climbing itself is like a history lesson, art and architecture is great along the way. Uchi Pillayar awaits to bless you at the top. Such a serene experience. Bit more care is needed in cleanliness. Also at the base of the hill don't fall for vendors recommending stuff including keeping your slippers/shoes. There is a temple provided free place for it.

Old temple. Got steps to climp up. It's good to climb with half stomach or early mrning empty stomach since the steps are narrow. Beautiful temple. With Lord Ganesh or top of the peak and lord Shiva and Devi just before that. 1 and half hours time might be needed to patiently see the idols there and prayer and to come down. Not so crowded on week days. Climbing such temples with lot of steps makes our health better and lungs pump proper. One of the peaceful temple to visit.

Ucchi Pillayar Temple is a 7th-century Hindu temple, one dedicated to Lord Ganesha located a top of Rockfort, Trichy. Ucchi means higher. This Ganesha temple is on top of the hill, hence the name. It is a general practice to pray to Manicka Vinayagar (Ganesha temple at foothills) at the foothills before you visit Uchi Pillayar. This temple has its origin references to Ramayana along with Sri Ranganatha Swamy temple. First the Pallava kings cut the rock to build the temple and later the Nayaks of Madurai completed the construction of the temple. There are temples of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati on the hill. Lord Shiva is worshiped as Thayumanavar and is represented by the lingam and his consort Parvati is depicted as Mattuvar Kuzhalammai. We went there very early in the morning. There were very few people in the temple snd we could get nice darshan of the lord. The weather is slso very pleasant in the mornings. You also get excellent view of Trichy from the temple.

A great temple to visit in Trichy. Remarkable architecture. The temple is mostly built by carving the mountain. A must visit for every Hindu. You will visit Swami and thayar santhi as well, which is carved inside the mountain..
