Nice and big temple which almost looks like a palace. Perumal with standing posture along with thayar in Moolasthanam. Srirangam namperumal is the Urchavar for this temple too , but kamalavalli nachiyar urchavar is there. Shrines - சேனை முதல்வர், நம்மாழ்வார், ராமானுஜர், திருபானாழ்வார். One can see ancient paintings inside the shrines of Nammazhwar and Ramanujar shirnes. But because of stupid people , it is in very bad state. Almost most of the paintings are erased by the skecthings of people. I have attached the image here. These paintings mostly depicts the history of srirangam temple. Like how Sriranga vimanam came to Ayodhya and back then to trichy. One can have a good darshan. This temple follows all festivals and rituals very similar to Srirangam temple.

Its a small to medium size temple, craving for fame and attention. Temple is walkable from Woraiyur bus stand. Streets are very narrow and hence will be difficult for people coming by car. Temple was neat and cleanly maintained. Not much facilities available except a few shops selling flowers. Plan your stay and eatables accordingly. Recommend to stay in SriRangam or Trichy. Since i went early morning, crowd was very less. Recommended Time To Spend = 30 minutes

This temple is in Uraiyur and is a temple for Kamalavalli Thayar .Perumal is Azhaghiamanavalan or the Handsome Bridegroom. It is 4km from Tiruchi junction. To reach there from Srirangam we can take a bus to Chatiram bus stand and another bus to Uraiyur or Nachiarkoil.Otherwise one can take take an auto or Ola cab to reach here. On normal days there is not much of crowd but on Uraiyur Serthi the day Namperumal visits Uraiyur the crowds are big . The temple is huge and magnificent and Tiruppanazhwar who created 'Amalanadipiraan' took avatharam here. There is a special sannidhi for this azhwar and his Tirunakshatram is celebrated grandly. Thayar's 'Poosaathu, Vasanta , Unjal and Theppotsavam are worth seeing. The teppakulam within the premises is beautiful. While visiting Srirangam one should take time to visit this temple. Girls who are born in Ayilya nakshatram can worship Thayar and get married soon by Her grace.During Sringam Panguni utsavam celebrations Namperumal leaves Srirangam very early in the morning on the 6th day . The carriers or sripadam thangis carry the palanquin climbing slopes and crossing the Kaveri as they have to go through the route earmarked in previous years. This year that is 2021 there was an additional challenge as water had been released at Mokambu . The way through fields and muddy paths has to be crossed to bring Azhaghiamanavalan to Woraiyur . This year that is 2022 too involved Srirangam residents worked two days before Namperumal's crossing th eriver to pave a safe path as there are deep spots in the river and the Deity cannot be taken on or under a bridge. It is the effort of such people which mak eit possible for thousands to have darsan of Perumal and Thayar in serthi at Uraiyur.

Prominence of the Shrine : At the sanctum sanctorum, Azhagiya Manavala Perumal and Kamalavalli Thayar appear in the wedded, standing posture. As Lord Ranganathar himself incarnated as the Perumal and married the Thayar, here the deities face the north, in the direction of Ranganathar (Sri Rangam). Worshipping here on the day of Aayilyam is believed to remove obstacles for marriage. Thayar is the main deity here, and as such, the e temple is also called ‘Nachiar Kovil’. At the moolasthanam Thayar alone appear as Urchavar. Generally kumkum is offered as Prasad in Perumal temples. Here sandal paste is offered as Prasad. Only black pepper (and not red chillies) is used to prepare food offerings to Thayar. Temple History : Nanga Chola king, a devotee of Lord Ranganathar, was ruling over this region. Having no children, he worshipped to the Lord Vishnu. Lord Vishnu to fulfil his devotee’s wish have sent Maha Lakshmi (the Goddess of prosperity & his consort) as the daughter to the king. One day, while hunting, the king saw a baby lying on a lotus in a pond. Believing to be the gift of God, he christened her Kamala valli (kamalam - lotus) and brought her up. One day while she was playing with her friends in a garden, she happened to see Lord Ranganathar riding a horse. The Lord appeared in the dream of the king asked Kamalavalli to be married to him. The king took her to Srirangam, where is believed to have united with Lord Ranganathar. Soon the king raised a dedicated temple for kamala valli at Woraiyur.

This place is believed to be the birthplace of Thirupaanazhwar 2760 BCE one of the 12 Alwars .. glorified in the sacred verses of the Nalayira Divya prabandham, the first privilege is give to the Thayaar Kamalavalli, a unique occurrence in a Vishnu temple. The presiding deity Sri Azhagiya Manavalan in a beautiful standing posture offers his blessings holding conch and Chakra and in abhaya hastam posture. A must visit..Hare Krishna

The temple was beautiful. But when we visited at 9 am, it was not opened. They asked us to come after 9.30 am. The Butter was not receptive. He was always showing his face. We could have darshan at 10 am only. In Tamilnadu never a temple in a city opens at 10 am.

DHIVYADESAM. Legend has it that a Chola king Nanda Cholan by his prayers had convinced Lord Ranganatha who had asked Goddess Lakshmi to be born as the King’s beautiful daughter at Uraiyur out of aLotus. When Kamalavalli grew young and when she was out with her friends, she fell for a handsome young man. The man was none other than Lord Ranganatha of Srirangam. King Nanda Cholan having come to know of it, he oNce again prayed to the Lord to marry his daughter who had accepted his prayers and took her as his bride. The joyful Nanda Cholan built a temple at Uraiyur to celebrate it. The temple is located in Woraiyur, TRICHY. Neatly maintained. Easily accessible by any mode of transportation. A must visit for anyone seeking divinity.
