If you are a wildlife lover it is a must visit. Rich and untouched wilderness. Please ensure to take a good naturalist along. Reach me for references. Plan for atleast 3 days. Don't miss to take your cameras and there are a lot of animals and birds to photograph.

One ☝️ of the greatest tiger 🐅 park located here. Sorimuthu ayyanar temple 🛕 is very famous. Especially in August time it’s very peak. Nice scenery place . Papanasam dam is beautiful 😻 You can go with family and friends . Agathitar falls is beautiful 😍

Staying in mundathurai tiger reserve: If ur nature lover thee this place ok. One of the dryest forest. Even in the night temperature stays hot. Not big rooms. Old rooms, without ventilalation, no proper food, full of monkeys. Rare visit of deers. Nothing u can see by staying this place. Not advisable for family. One day trip itself enough to cover all the dam areas. Pl. Keep the forest clean. Dont throw plastic

This place is worth a visit. But don't choose for a stay in Mundanthurai Stay. The place is not dense forest or anything to get a forest stay experience. So it's not worth the money spent in the room. The forest officers were so kind and the food was awesome also for affordable price.

It was a really good trip to travel to the forest..we saw monkeys, peacocks, some precious birds.we need to get permission from the forest officials before entering the tiger reserve and it's open between 8am to 5.30 pm.were we enjoyed water falls and papanasam falls in summer.

The conservation efforts and effective management of plastic usage within the forest have been commendable. It's truly an extraordinary experience to immerse oneself in the serene environment. If you're looking for a more tranquil visit, I would highly recommend choosing weekdays over weekends, as weekends tend to be busier and more crowded. To enter the forest, the entry fee per person is Rs. 40, which goes towards the preservation and maintenance of the natural surroundings. Additionally, if you plan on parking your vehicle, there is a separate fee of Rs. 20 for parking. By implementing these fees, the authorities ensure that visitors contribute to the sustainability of the forest, supporting the conservation efforts and enabling the provision of necessary amenities. These fees play a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness, infrastructure, and overall well-being of the forest, allowing everyone to enjoy a pristine and enriching experience.

Feel good experience on bike ride around the hills and forest. We have seen a deer while ride the bike. The experience was very good. But the forest officers didn't allow to visit the kalaiyar dam. And we have not seen any tiger there.

Kalakadu manimuthar tiger reserve is very nice place to visit on weekends. Very calm and peaceful place. There no rush like other places very few people go there. There is a lake and waterfalls are also near and around this place. Agasthiyar tirtham is also there and near that place Papnasham tirtham also located there. So it is very nice place people who are loving nature and natural beauty should go there and enjoy the beautiful place.

Only birds sound around the hills and calm place. Must visit place for tourists. Dam, falls and temples are around this places to visit more.

Only good thing about the guest house is the location, on the banks of thamirabarani. The rooms are poorly maintained, not even basic cleaning is done, stayed at the dormitory, full of insects, found a dead rat in the room too!!!can go with friends and enjoy for one day as the location is very good, right by the river and away from the hustle.Don't expect anything more. Karayar dam is also not accessible now so u can go to servalar and upto sorimuthu ayyanar temple. Hopefully the forest authorities do better and improve the facilities!!. Look at the pictures and decide before booking

The Kalakad Tiger Reserve and Sanctuary is located relatively close to Kanyakumari, about 2-3h by car. We didn't spend the night in the sanctuary, just did a day trip. Obviously we didn't see any tiger (they're really hard to spot, even in the most famous parks) but it's worth. The area is very green and you can find lots of rivers, greenish areas and wildlife. Besides numerous types of birds, we found a colony of monkeys.

Situated in Tirunelveli district of TamilNadu is a National Park. It is also declared as a Tiger Reserve with the continuation of "Project Tiger" and has a sizeable population of Tiger after Sathyamangalam Tiger (TamilNadu). Spread across an area of 400 square kilometer, serves as a home for varieties of Flora and Fauna. It also serves as a catchment area for 14 rivers and streams and holds 7 major dams. Situated very close to Agasthiyar hills which is one of the major Biological Hotspot in India. A few hour drive from Papanasam will take you to the Reserve with beautiful sceneries on your way to the top. Forest Department provides stay with nominal cost. Night Safari is also permitted with proper procedure. During night Safari you can see wild animals including Big cats. Best place for a family trip. Most recommended for Nature Lovers.

Kalakkad Mundanthurai Tiger Reserve (KMTR), located in the Southern Western Ghats in Tirunelveli District and Kanyakumari District in the South Indian state of Tamil Nadu, is the second-largest protected area in Tamil Nadu State (behind only Sathyamangalam Wildlife Sanctuary in Erode). The Kalakkad Mundanthurai Tiger Reserve was created in 1988 by combining Kalakad Wildlife Sanctuary and Mundanthurai Wildlife Sanctuary, both established in 1962. Kalakkad Mundanthurai Tiger Reserve has at least 150 endemic plants, 33 fish, 37 amphibians, 81 reptiles, 273 birds and 77 mammal species. A survey during 2014 trapped 14 unique tigers. Leopards, Elephants, niligir tahr, nilgiri langur, wild boar are some of the other mammals present in this reserver.

This is one of the most beautiful places in the south of Tamil Nadu. The place is well preserved. Animals roam free and if you are lucky you get to spot a few in the wild.. spotted deer, Nilgiri langore, and a few other animals. There are elephants too... One of the best places to visit..

You cannot go by walk there as it's a reserved forest. With an entry fee of 600 rupees you'll be taken for an off-road drive into the reserve forest. If you're lucky you can see tigers, monkeys, peacocks, etc. In the journey you can see some of the tribal villages even though they won't stop there. The guide was friendly and explained about the secrets of the forest.

Very bad experience.. Location is nice, but rooms are very old and unclean.. Toilets are bad.. Lot of insects inside the room.. No good food.. And not anything to see or visit.. The so called forest watchers are rude and they do not know how to behave with the guests.. Overall, it was a bad experience and we do not recommended anyone to stay here.. Not worth for the monet we pay..

The River Thamirabarani starts from this mountain... Its named as Podhigai Hills. Well Known for the birth place of Language Tamil. History tells us Monk agathiyar lived in this place. There is a statue of agathiyar. But unfortunately now touristers were not allowed to go by the forest department. There is 2 big dams named as Karayaru and servalaru. Servalaru dam has a hydro electric power station runs by the tamilnadu electric board. Its a wild life sanctuary. U can see the deers, bears, tigers , fox and some more animals.

Best place to visit. Especially in august . The festival will be conducted in sorimuthu ayyanar temple. So many people will come there. And also from the forest department they will open water from the dam for the people usage. Very very amazing place. While you climb you can see the hydro power plant. You Cant go by walk. And two wheelers are also not allowed.

You have to clear your entrance security check post. And take almost 10 kilometres drive. Also take 2 kilometers of walking to reach the place. But there were a restriction to get boating on the dam area. In my trip I haven't even see any tiger 🐯 or elephant. But chance to see monkeys.
