One of the must visit places in Tamil nadu for the architectural marvel and beautiful views. The aqueduct bridge offers an amazing panoramic view of the green landscape with water flowing and birds chirping all around! The bridge can be reached from three ways, two of them through stairs. Best option is to reach by early morning around 5.30-6 AM and spend some time enjoying the sunrise view. Even evenings are better, but not recommended to visit in mid day as there is no escaping the sun. Entry fee is ₹5 and digital cameras are charged ₹25. Ample parking space available on all three entrances.

One of the important tourist places in the district. Beautifully constructed architectural building and the river running below is very good for bathing.parking space available but it is congested during season times.

Mathoor thothi palam built by kamaraj. This one thing is more than enough for us. Extraordinary viewpoint and ultimate location for photographers. The purpose of the bridge to transfer water from one mountain to another side. The bridge construction took 9 years and open for public at 1966 and still in good condition. There is no pu lic transportation, you need to hire cab to visit this place. Either side of the bridge you have staircase to get down. Lots of local shop available, please taste fresh pineapple then you can feel the real taste feeling. Try gooseberry, raw mango, etc. You can also get down in water once you reach under the bridge. IMP: don't play while walking in the bridge and don't do any stunt or taking selfies.

The Mathur Aqueduct, a testament to human ingenuity nestled amidst the rolling hills of Tamil Nadu, presents a story of contrasts. On one hand, it stands as a majestic feat of engineering, a 1.3 km long marvel carrying life-giving water across the Pahrali River. On the other, it whispers tales of neglect and the relentless march of time, urging us to reconsider its future. Built in 1965, the aqueduct's simple yet sturdy design has stood the test of time. Its 31 piers, each 30 feet high, showcase the builders' understanding of the terrain and the need for a stable structure. Walking across the aqueduct is an experience in itself. The panoramic views of the green valley below and the meandering Pahrali River are breathtaking, especially during the monsoon season. The aqueduct has become a popular tourist destination, attracting visitors with its unique blend of engineering marvel and natural beauty. It has also become a symbol of hope and progress for the local communities. Time and neglect have taken their toll on the aqueduct. Cracks on the pillars, leaking joints, and eroded pathways raise concerns about its structural integrity. The lack of proper railings and safety measures makes crossing the aqueduct risky, especially for children and the elderly. The surrounding area shows signs of neglect, with litter and debris accumulating along the banks of the river. This not only mars the beauty of the place but also poses a threat to the water quality. The Mathur Aqueduct stands at a crossroads. It can continue to be a symbol of human ingenuity and a source of life for the surrounding communities, or it can crumble under the weight of neglect. To ensure its future, immediate action is needed: The government and local authorities must prioritize the aqueduct's restoration, addressing the structural concerns and ensuring its safety for future generations. Proper waste management and environmental awareness campaigns are crucial to protect the Pahrali River and the surrounding ecosystem. Local communities can play a vital role in the aqueduct's upkeep and preservation. Organizing clean-up drives and raising awareness about its importance can go a long way. The Mathur Aqueduct is more than just a bridge; it's a symbol of human potential and a lifeline for many. By acknowledging its challenges and taking concrete steps towards its restoration, we can ensure that this engineering marvel continues to grace the landscape for generations to come.

Very good place to visit at evening time ( 5 to 6pm). Can come by car. There are 2 ways..you can take stairs from down or park car in main entry and just walk, which is better for elderly people. The views are great. Approach roads are narrow but full of greenery. The pineapple sold here is so fresh.

I planned to visit for Republic Day. But it was closed due to covid restrictions. How ever we were able to go to the other end of the bridge. The specialty of this bridge is it Accommodate small water stream and also helps people to move from one place to another . The stretch of the bridge is approximately 1 Km . My recommendation is to plan better by checking if it’s open or not.

Wonderful place to hangout with friends. This bridge was built during the era of Former CM Kamarajar. This is built at the height of 115 feet. The water running through the channel is clean and sorrounded by scenic beauty and it's fun to walk on the bridge enjoying the lush green scenery. I would suggest to go at evening after 4. Car parking available and they charge 50/- Entry fee is 5/-

Really a beautiful place to spend time. Nice view from height. A peaceful setting with full view of nature's beauty and river below. The water path takes water from one hill to other and the construction is really a sensible one. Will get snacks, juices, pineapple, mango, cucumber etc. Parking space is also good

The view point is alluring. Nice picnic point. There are no restaurants nearby. You can get some tender coconuts, pineapples from the local vendors. Pineapple here taste too good. There are few houses who sells coffee and cool drinks near to the stream.

Beautiful views from the top of the bridge and a good place to spend some time. There's also a place to get into the river below and play/take a bath. The bridge itself has some safety concerns, especially for kids.

A brilliant architecture of Tamil Nadu and an underrated tourist spot A connecting aqueduct which transports the water in a elevated corridor The scenery that you will experience in the aqueduct would be so great and wonderful. Nice place to visit. Especially if you are visiting Kanyakumari do not miss this place. The view from the aqueduct is amazing. There is a small river flowing beneath the bridge and you can take bath. But the parking would be a bit difficult especially at the entry to the bridge. There is gorge on both sides of road with no rails.

The Mathoor Aqueduct is a remarkable feat of engineering. Its breathtaking design and seamless integration with the natural landscape make it a sight to behold. The aqueduct's precise construction allows for the uninterrupted flow of water, benefiting both agriculture and local communities. Standing on the aqueduct, one can admire the scenic surroundings while marveling at the ingenuity behind this essential water management structure.

A slice of history from previous century for moving water and people. Currently its viewed as a weekend evening spot. Has very good views from the top of the duct. Almost kerala like views. We have the duct at the top and at the bottom, we have a small stream where if needed can take bath. The duct was not in best nick. There seems to be no interest to maintain this place well and attract tourists. There was an entrance fee for both vehicles and humans. Just before this place there is a detour where we can reach this place in two ways. One reaches to the aqueduct at the top, and other reaches to the stream at the bottom. There are steps available from the aqueduct to the stream. There was also a small park situated near to the stream. Situated away from town, so there are no places/shops nearby. Overall a decent place to spend an evening.

Very good place to visit... We can see the beauty of nature from the Aqueduct... But the facility and the maintenance is very poor... Specially the rood is below average and their is no parking facility, but they are charging ₹40 / car... Many families are taking bath on the river, but their is no proper facility (specially on safety) to take bath... They are charging ₹5 / person to visit the Aqueduct, that is reasonable one and it is worth... 5 years back I visited the same place and I found the same facilities (for playing) in the park. But the same facilities is still available with heavy damages... By this we can understand, how much importance they are giving for the facility maintenance...

A not so well maintained scenic spot. The way to this place also offered a very good landscape view. We went to the base spot in a car and had to climb ~150 steps to reach the bridge. The bridge was a narrow pathway offering breth taking view of the greenish and water flowing landscape from such a great height. Evening/early mornings will be ideal time to visit.

Thootipallam was located in kanyakumari district.. This place was constructed in the time of The King Maker's Kamarajar CM period... The bride was approximately 370 meters paralyzed with a water flow bride nearing the walking bridge... At the end of the Bride there is a steps to come back to entrance... There lot of pineapple, coconut drinks, ice creams and banana chips available for fast bites... Very nice place for natural view and photo shoots...
