One of the ancient architecture marvel situated in South India. This temple is Constructed in the Tamilnadu style of architecture, the temple is believed to have been built by Pandyan ruler Parakrama Pandyan during the 13th century, with later additions from Madurai Nayaks. Shiva is worshipped as Kasi Viswanathar and his consort Parvathi as Ulagamman. Temple will be opened from 6 to 12 am & 4 to 8 pm (time is subject to change with respect to festival or local performance if any on an occasional days) this temple is considered as equivalent in worshipping of lord in Kasi (Varanasi), in this temple Parvati Devi is facing west which is unlike from other temples, even Kasi viswanathar is visible from one km if one wants to check. Main attraction is temple's main gopuram (monumental tower) air flow construction techniques, one can or must feel the same in person when entering inside the gopuram. Sculptures are beautifully crafted by ancient artists. It is must watch monument in a life time to experience the brilliance of ancient artists Highly recommended.

Very neat well maintained temple. One of the unique features in this temple is while seated under the main gopuram we can feel the wind breeze exclusively which neither can be felt inside or outside of the temple. The feeling can not be explained and be felt

Such a majestic structure. Mobile phones are not allowed inside, can keep it in the alloted place at the entrance for Rs 5/ phone. Inside the temple compound its such a vast plase with huge rock buildings having arts and crafts carved on it. The wind blown inside is surprise for the visitors.

One of the great hindu lord Shiva temples and known as Kashi Vishwanath temple of South. Entry is free and opens for darshan at 6 am to 12 noon and 4 pm to 8pm. Located at tenkashi that is 6km from Courtalam. It's a must visit place on your Courtalam trip. A nice peaceful temple spread over 1 acre of land with many goddesses to worship like lord Ganesha, mata parwati, lord Murugan and Nandi at the temple entrance. Good place to visit with family and parents. Visit early in the morning or late evening to avoid hot temperature and rush.

A very lovely beautiful old temple. Mother Ulagamman (mother of the world) is the main deity (siva on the other side) . In tamil we say கான கண் கோடி வேண்டும் ( means you need crores of eyes to see amman). That much beautiful and kindness. A must visit place

Absolutely Divine Place. The temple exceeds all expectations. Just visiting the south kasi. I e Thenkasi in Tamil was one of the greatest places and spiritual experience I ve had in all my years in search for spirituality. One of the oldest temple in Tamilnadu. Lord Shiva Parvathy, Balamurugan, Vinagar shrines was a divine experience. Separate Idols for Mahalakshmi and Gajalakshmi was one of the Speciality of this temple. The goddesses of wealths and health and Varahi Amman too. Just a great experience.

Built in 15th Century by Parakrama Pandyan , this large temple occupies 4 acres on the bank of Chittaru River . The imposing 172ft tall , 9 tiered Gopuram , adorned with hundreds of colorful stucco figures , is the second largest in Tamil Nadu . The present Gopuram was built in 1990 since the older one had been destroyed. The Gopuram is also famous for the strong breeze that always blows through it due to the tunnel effect. The spacious porch in front of the gopuram comes alive in the evenings, with crowds gathering there to enjoy the pleasant breeze . The pillared hall inside the temple is also famous for the beautiful monolithic sculptures of Veerabhadra , Rati-Manmatha , Vishnu, and chamaram ( fly-whisk) bearing ladies . But photography inside is prohibited. The temple has the usual timings , but is open throughout the day on festivals and every New Moon day.

Its an architectural marvel. The faithfuls believe in the power of the dirty. Though I am an atheist, I enjoyed the temple vibes. Must visit temple for all.

A beautiful temple in Tenkasi, dedicated to Lord Shiva (Kailasanathar) and Goddes (Ulagamman). A big temple with good sculpture, vast area. Attracts large devotees daily.

One of the most beautiful and well maintained temple in Tamilnadu. The wind direction is a mystery and architectural marvel here while entering and leaving via the temple gopuram. The go-shala is big and clean. Temple namdhavanam is a must visit place and good area to sit and relax. There's also a sakthi peedam, sithar peedam locates inside making it a very powerful temple. Visit during early morning or sunset hours to enjoy beauty of the temple. Regular music and dance performances are organized by temple authorities in the stage area located near temple entrance. There are lot of sign boards, message boards within temple (insisting on temple cleanliness, hygiene etc.) which is a good initiative. In short, loved every minute inside the temple and memories lingering in your mind always.
