Good place to visit in the month of Oct to Jan. Summer starts from Feb. Fairy to be hired to reach this spot. Ticket cost Rs 50, special ticket for Rs. 200. You can do meditation in the meditation room here. From here you can see the different colour of the sea and ocean merger. Arabian sea, Indian Ocean and Bay of Bengal.

Wonderful place. We as a family visited this place and we loved it. We went at around 4:00pm and the sun was bright and the winds were strong. The rock memorial is maintained well and very clean. You can sit peacefully and do meditation. The ferry will take you from the mainland to the island. The charges are Rs. 50/- per person. There is another landmark right next to the memorial in another island, that is Thuruvalluvar Statue. It was under renovation and no visitor was allowed to go near it. We can definitely enjoy the sound of waters and the strong breeze that embraces. The sea was rough because of the winds. The colors of the oceans were spectacular. It is a treat to watch sunset and sunrise from the same place. A must to visit for everyone.

Best ever place for a trip in anyone's life, in the middle of waters there exists a place to get a peace of mind. This is the only one. Not only for an excursion but only for seeing a view of water bodies statues ,sunset and sunrise points, we went there. Going in a boat from one side to the other side of the rock memorial was an awesome experience. After coming back to home we think of the place and imagine the scenery. No words to explain, what a view.

It felt like a dream. You can clearly see 3 colors of the water. The place is really clean. It was too hot when we went but the constant cold breeze made my day. It is accessible by ferry ₹50/person and has a ticket ₹20/person. It felt pristine to watch our mainland India from here. It was really beautiful. On one side you see the main land while on the other side you see windmill station and everywhere else you look is clean water till your eyes meet the horizon.

It was my father's dream to visit this place. During his school days he contributed 2 rupees for the construction of this beautiful structure. It's really beautiful. At the confluence of the Arabian sea, Bay of Bengal and Indian Ocean. From the beach, through a steam boat we have to reach this place. Life jacket mandatory so zero risk. We spend around 2 to 3 hours on the memorial. Altogether it was a pleasant experience. Best time to visit in the afternoon to avoid high temperature and to enjoy the evening breeze.

A very peaceful place. You have to go in a boat to reach this place which costs 50rs per person normal entry or 200rs per person for quick entry. Need to pay Rs 30/- for entering vivekanand rock memorial. You have to be at the place before 4 o clock in the evening. Gates will be closed after that and tickets will not be issued. The meditation room is there. You can witness beautiful sunsets.🌅

Truly a place to visit, one of the most iconic places in India. One has to travel a short distance by small boat. It is a very heavy task to tell something about Swami Vivekananda, our words do not have that much power. All I would like to say is that you must show your children so that some divinity can be reflected in their lives as well. highly recommended.

This is one of the best place to visit in India at Southern most tip with horizon view of Bay of Bengal, Indian Ocean and Arabian sea. Spectacular views all around, time flies here, doing meditation here is an extraordinary experience. Divine Sunset from here is a blessing. Ferry need to be improved a lot for number of passengers, facilities and safety point of view.

Vivekananda Rock Memorial is a monument and popular tourist attraction in Kanyakumari, India's southernmost tip.[1] The memorial stands on one of two rocks located about 500 meters off mainland of Vavathurai. It was built in 1970 in honour of Swami Vivekananda, who is said to have attained enlightenment on the rock.[1][2][3][4] According to legends, it was on this rock that Goddess Kanyakumari (Parvathi) performed tapas in devotion of lord Shiva. A meditation hall known as Dhyana Mandapam is also attached to the memorial for visitors to meditate. The design of the mandapa incorporates different styles of temple architecture from all over India.[1] The rocks are surrounded by the Laccadive Sea where the three oceans Bay of Bengal, Indian Ocean and the Arabian Sea meets. The memorial consists of two main structures, the Vivekananda Mandapam and the Shripada Mandapam.[5]

Vivekananda Rock Memorial in Kanyakumari is a spiritually enriching destination. The architectural marvel stands as a tribute to Swami Vivekananda, who meditated on this rock. The serene surroundings and breathtaking ocean views add to the meditative atmosphere. Swami Vivekananda's presence is palpable, and visitors can connect with his profound spiritual legacy. A must-visit for those seeking tranquility and a glimpse into the spiritual journey of Swami Vivekananda. Bonus Tip: For an optimal experience at Vivekananda Rock Memorial, arrive early at 6 am to secure your spot in the ferry queue. Ticket sales start at 7:45 am, and being in the first batch not only allows you to catch the mesmerizing sunrise but also helps you avoid the long queues that form later. By doing so, you can save on the special ticket, priced at 300 rupees, and significantly reduce your waiting time for the ferry. Early birds not only catch the sunrise but also enjoy a smoother and more cost-effective visit.

Vivekananda Rock is situated in the Indian Ocean at the Southern most tip of Indian Peninsula. There is a small ferry ride to reach this place from the shore. There is generally a queue for the ferry ride tickets and fee is Rs.50/-. If you want to make it faster, you can opt for Rs.200/- ticket. This is only for going and no preference for coming back. The rock has a temple like structure which has a statue of Swami Vivekananda and a place for meditation.

Located 500 meters away the mainland, Vivekananda Rock Memorial is a place of great scenic beauty, historical importance and religious significance. Undeniably one of the most popular places to see in Kanyakumari, this rock is considered to be holy as well as an architectural wonder. Vivekananda Rock Memorial is one of the two rocks located slightly away from the mainland. On this rock, a captivating memorial of Swami Vivekananda has been built which was inaugurated in the year of 1970. This was to honour the great saint and leader of India, Swami Vivekananda who has visited Kanyakumari in 1892, a few days before leaving for Chicago for World Religious Conference. He had then visited the rock and meditated here for two days.

Wall also add to the charm of this park. It's usually crowded during the evening time. Refreshments are available in nearby shops. Ample parking space is available. The places reverberates with spirituality. Sitting on this rock Swami Vivekananda came up with the decision to go to America to spread the teachings of Vedanta. The meditation room is a great place to meditate. The view is great and calms the mind. During early morning hours stand near the Kanyakumari Temple sunrise point and see the sun rise over the memorial.

Well, what to say about that as there are so much written about that in detail but still I like to add that the difference between " I have read it" and " I have seen it " is this place inside the sea in Kanyakumari. In simple words, it's breathtaking. You have to go through sea by ferry to reach the island and back. Ferry service starts sharp at 8AM in morning. Don't get fooled by 200/- vs 50/- rs VIP gimmick as there is no difference in any treatment at any stage. Well, go there to feel it for yourself. It's definitely worth it.

The memorial has been built on a rock where Swami Vivekananda spent 3 days meditating. One can reach memorial from the Govt operated boats, for the normal line the fees is Rs 25 per person and for the special line fees is Rs 300 person. Rush in normal line is too much and if you don't have time, you can take tickets of the normal line. But for returning back, all the lines are same and you can board any boat on your back. The memorial is beautifully built and there is also a medication center there. Entry fees for the memorial is to be paid additionally which is Rs 25 per person.

Is Kanyakumari worth the hype? I would say no. It's a well maintained place. I would admit that. But the wait time is not worth the experience you can have over here. ₹75 is the price of a local ferry ticket for which you'll have to wait at least an hour or two to get into the boat. You can get an express ticket for ₹300 with minimal queue. It's a beautiful view. There is no denial in that. But is it worth it? I guess no.

Due to covid restrictions all religious places temple, church etc all closed on Friday Saturday and Sunday all over in Tamilnadu upto 31 oct 21 presently. So plan your journey accordingly. Plz do call the places you wants to visit in advance by searching phone numbers on internet before visiting for Open or close. It's sucks when u come so far and have to return back without visiting places.

This is the place where Swami Vivekananda had attained the enlightenment so a dedicated rock memorial has been set up with the help from various strata of the society dedicated to the greatest ever saint of the modern india. We purchased the ticket for Rs. 75/- (Return) per person for the ferry service, also there's separate entrance ticket for the rock memorial which was Rs. 30/- per person. Its a 5-10 boat minute ride than you can visit the temple and explore the place for not more than 30-45 minutes because apart from the temple, there's nothing much over there. Most of the people take photographs only. But it's a must visit atleast for once.

As such the monument is beautiful. The sea breeze that you get on reaching the memorial is just worth an experience. Good place for photography lovers. One needs to take the government ferry to reach the memorial that operates between 9am to 4:30pm. Word of caution: I only request all of you to stand in Rs.50 queue to catch tbe ferry to reach the memorial. The 200 rupees queue is just a scam.

Vivekananda Rock, located off the coast of Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu, India, is one of the most iconic landmarks in the country. Named after the famous Hindu monk Swami Vivekananda, this rock memorial attracts millions of visitors from all over the world every year. One of the most striking features of the Vivekananda Rock is its beautiful architecture, which combines traditional Indian style with modern elements. The memorial is built on two adjacent rocks, one of which houses the Vivekananda Mandapam, a meditation hall that offers a breathtaking view of the sea. The other rock has a shrine dedicated to the goddess Kumari, which adds a spiritual dimension to the memorial. Many visitors describe the experience of visiting the Vivekananda Rock as deeply spiritual and moving. The serene atmosphere, combined with the stunning natural beauty of the surroundings, creates an atmosphere of peace and tranquility that is hard to find elsewhere. Apart from its architectural and spiritual appeal, the Vivekananda Rock also has an important historical significance. It is said that Swami Vivekananda, the founder of the Ramakrishna Mission, meditated on this rock for three days in 1892. It was during this time that he had a vision of India's future, which inspired him to spread the message of Vedanta and Hinduism to the world. Overall, the Vivekananda Rock is a must-visit destination for anyone traveling to India. Its unique combination of history, spirituality, and natural beauty makes it a truly unforgettable experience that will stay with you long after you leave.

Better to visit on weekdays to have less crowded and enjoy your time.

This may seem unfair to rate this attraction so low. However, it is needed to be done because first time visitors would not know the difference. Read the whole review to understand the same. Regarding attraction (Vivekanda Rock Memorial), It is a really good place to visit and certainly will give you an experience that is different from any other you have had anywhere else. The winds are so strong, you can feel it pushing you and apart from it, you get to enjoy the meditation hall inside. Rating for attraction : 4/5 Now to the part why the rating is marked 1/5 on Google. It is because of how you reach to the attraction, that is via. Ferry service. It is one of the worst you can find. They have two type of tickets ₹50/- and ₹200/-. This difference in price brings you only one thing, smaller queue for reaching the Ferry from land to Vivekananda Rock memorial. Once the ferry comes in, they open up the queue for ₹50/- and ₹200/- together, basically creating a run for life situation :D Now it is fine to do that, however, lines should be maintained till the ferry service onboarding to avoid accidents and unnecessary safety hazards. And there is no different queue for ₹50/- and ₹200/- while returning. So you will have to join the same queue. Hopefully, you find this attraction worth it after going through this torture. To be honest, I didn't find it worth it! You can feel the same sort of vibe in Dhanuskodi as well with much less drama.

Plan your trip during time when sunshine is less, because the wait to board the boat to reach the rock would be crowded on all days.

👍👍 This is a peaceful fishing village that is not popular during the day. Early in the morning, many people watch the sunrise and bathe in the seawater. The day I saw the sunrise, the air wasn't clear, so the sunrise wasn't as striking as it could be.
