Scientists and other staffs here are very cooperative and helping. This BSI has a great Resource for researchers in Botany with Large Herbarium and well arranged Library. But some unwanted and old rule and formalities are stilled followed there.

If anyone wants to get plant authentication certificate, you can visit here with a letter from your principal. Without letter you’re not permitted to go in. Letter should be duly signed with date and phone number of the concern staff on a letter head of the institution. You can visit with letter on Monday and Thursday every week.

One should visit before starting floristic work anywhere in South India as it have almost herbarium of the same and many floras from different southern states available here. Notice: Before visiting the BSI take permission through mail or letter and if anyone need accommodation , should mention in the permission seeking letter. 1C and 70 numbers buses service will drop at Agricultural University Coimbatore main gate. 5-10 minutes walk from main gate.
