The idol was mesmerizing and my wife and I sat down for some time. The temple priest (an old guy) asked me to come and sit next to him. I hesitated. He then proceeded to make some enquiries and I told him that I don't speak Tamil. He explained in broken English that he needs to pay Rs.30,000 for the villagers who make gingelly oil and that he doesn't have money. We asked him if we can make the donation by card. He said that we should send money through GPay. I transferred 30,000. He asked me to visit the temple the following Friday and asked me to bring over fruits. I did visit the temple and the other priests did a Puja and kept telling us to meet the head priest, who was sitting in the car that was parked in the temple compound. I hesitated, but they kept telling us one after another. There in the car, he asked me to sit and did some small talk. He later proceeded to ask for 2 lakh rupees saying that his child has to undergo heart surgery and that he would return the money in a month's time. I politely told him that I will not be able to help and left the place. The whole thing turned out to be very suspicious. The guy refused donation by card earlier and takes money on GPay and then cheats devotees of their money. Please don't use bhakti in this way. If there are temple trustees who care about what is happening in the name of vinayagar, I'm ready to lodge an official complaint. Devotees please be aware. Don't fall for the tricks of the priests, who are just using god's name to fill their pockets. I felt betrayed and cheated and wanted to forget this episode. But I am taking the trouble to write this at 5 am in the morning with the hope that vulnerable devotees will not become a victim again to this priest. Shambho!

Huge idol with awesome aura. Lot of vehicles do pooja here.. There isn't any designated parking space, you can park on the side of the opposite road. The deity can be viewed from the road also.. Just circle your vehicle around the temple, if you couldn't find a parking space.. It's just 2km away from Racecourse road

Coimbatore Mundhi Vinayagar temple at Puliakulam in Tamil Nadu has the largest Ganesh idol in Asia. The presiding deity in the temple is 40-foot tall idol, which has been carved out of a single black stone. Weight of the idol is 110 tons.

Old aged Priest working there is a fraud, he asking me to contribute 20,000 for Friday swamy Abhishekam, he also said he will use 80 litres of gingerly oil for a week, and he won't accept oil from us instead of that he asks me to pay him in cash to him, the same he approaches three to four devotees daily and he is collecting money without any receipt and not accepting bank transfer for temple account, Gpay to him or to pay in temple counters. Temple Founders should control this and devotees be aware!

Mundhi Vinayagar Temple is a Key attraction to Puliyakulam. We may able to Visualize How A Vinayaga Temple has came there. Once Upon a Time The Coimbatore had Limits at Near Railway Station (Generally They form railway tracks outskirts of City). Even Sungam Junction and Lakshmi Mills Junctions were Agri lands growing Cottons. That time there were 3 Water streams were pasing in the Puliakulam area... one of the stream is from Valangulam to Puliakulam (Now that has converted in to Sungam to Puliakulam Road). Usually tamils built a Karupparayan temples and Vinayaga temples near Waterbodies. That reasons why this Temple exist here.

Vinayagar Temple is dedicated to elephant god Ganesha. There is an interesting little legend to this temple. It is said that when the idol of Lord Vinayagar was being transported from Madurai in a cart for installation at Perur Pateeswarar Temple, the axle of the cart broke. When the devotees tried to move the idol, the efforts did not materialize and this is how this temple came into being. The construction of the temple was done around 16 century AD, and it has been an important religious center ever since. The temple follows typical Dravidian-style architecture. The temple tower rises in layers, with many Hindu gods and goddesses and sacred animals and other motifs inscribed on it. The main deity's idol is about 6 feet in height and is 3 feet in diameter. The deity's face is black with a tilak on the forehead - typical to idols in the South Indian temple. The body of the deity was plated with bright gold in 2004.

Lovely temple. Prayer time was about to get closed by 1pm, on god's grace, I was there on time. And we have got the blessings. It's in a prime location. Neat and clean in such a polluted, peak traffic and populated area. Must visit. New cars/bikes are around for their first start towards their life journey. Vinaayagar thunai.

Myself and my husband visited this temple. Same Way as one of the devotee mentioned there was a old priest who called us after the Archanai. He seemed to be quite awkward and called us to sit before him. He asked few tricky questions and mentioned that we need to donate oil to vinaygar. He mentioned it will be around 20k for a month and we told him we will get it from outside. He refused to take that and asked to pay in person. On the whole he is making this drama to all the devotees who visits temple. People pls be aware of this person.

Do give a visit when in Coimbatore. The Ganesha Idol is really really big. And the alangaram is very beautiful. The place doesn't give you a feel of temple as the idol sits under a shed kind of setup, that's it. But gives a good vibe. Since its in the main road, difficult to find a place to park bike. On Sankarshtis, I see many getting their new bikes and cars for special poojas...you can plan one too.

Caution : Every Friday i visit this temple for one decade. Old age priest collect money from you by telling different stories.. *He is literally a money maker on your faith and trust*.. He never gives any receipt to any money collected.. I personally witnessed.. And seen this regularly and many get cheated by him.. If you wish to contribute anything kindly donate to office and get proper receipts..

Nice Lord Ganesha Temple. Very small. Bang on the centre 4 Road Junction. Parking is really an issue. Large Ganesha with a Large Moonjuru in front of him. Artistically sculpted lord Ganesha. Early morning visit before 0730 hrs is an ideal time to visit. Beyond that you will find difficult even to cross the road.

One of the greatest single stone 16' sculpture statues ever seen in Coimbatore. And it is the dream work of 16 members (friends) committee, initiated at their teenage period and start execution in the early 1990's. After many struggles they had installed the statue with the local people (Puliyakulam) and their family members support. History may erase in the fourth coming era but this is the truth behind the temple.
