One of the must visit places when you are in Kodaikanal. It was in our list as a part of our sightseeing. Take tickets, climb few steps and then walk a little. There you go to witness such a beautiful place. The roots of those tall big trees give a different feel. It's amazing. View point is there from which the hill looks beautiful. The cave area is covered as many people feel down inside the cave and lost their lives. Better to enjoy nature. Click a few pictures. Spend some time and come back. Many food stalls are available near it. My visit was during March. I got a very clear and nice climate.

I request the TN Government to Change the location as Guna View point. There is no entry to the cave and has been sealed down. The trees here can be called the extended version of Pine forest. If you haven't visited pine forest, you can witness it here. U may have to walk 500 metres from parking to the view point. The view is splendid. As usual the Government has forgotten why they are collecting the entry fee! At least they could have provided dustbins and ban eating outside food here!

This place is popular after the Tamil film Guna. In 90s and early 2000s, this place was not fenced. Due to which lot of people lost their life. Now it is safe. You need to take a walk for 10 mins from the entrance, which is doable and you can find a toilet on the way. In other places, you cannot find the rest room. This is such a beautiful place to view the valley with the fog in different angle and this is next to Pine forest spot. Enjoy with ur family and friends with small entry fee. Don't carry any food items as there are lot of monkeys around.

The place is maintained good here. We can't see the Guna cave as expected. We can get only a top view which is not clear. But the view point established there gives a fantastic view of the sky making us see the cloud blanket below us. Awesome view when we went there. Refer pics.

Went with high hope but it wasnt as great as I expected. There were many monkeys so that was a struggle. We should be careful, and better not to carry any food items. The mobile network is very weak. Ticket collectors are clever not to give back change so be mindful about collecting the change.

The cave is closed for safety reason. So we can't go inside the cave. We can take photo the massive tress roots. And main this i liked is the view point. Very stunning mountain view.

10 rupees entrance for both adults and kids 🙄 and 10 rupees for using toilets! Need to take few steps and walk a bit to reach the forest structured place. Caves is closed and sealed. Only you can enjoy the scenic beauty and there are many eatables available near this spot. So, one can take a break and have snacks nearby.

Guna Cave, also known as "Devil's Kitchen," holds a special charm despite restricted cave access. The 5-minute walk from the road leads to a mesmerizing viewpoint with a steep panorama. A wooden bridge enhances the climb, offering an awesome perspective. Elders may find it challenging, but the roots of aged trees create a picturesque setting, perfect for photography. A must-visit spot for a delightful day.

Nice place, stunning view. Caves are sealed you can enjoy the beautiful scene with the dense forest with clouds fog or mist. Entry fee is 10 INR per person. You need to wait for hours and hours in the traffic. But the view is worth it. You will find lots of shops Such as food if you can eat and buy some cloths or shopping

The visitors should have to visit in the early morning. Because during that period you can see the beauty of fog. Moreover, at that time the number of visitors in that location is less.. You can capture variety of photos and videos from there. The roots of the big trees are attractive and also good for photoshoots. I recommend this place for shooting.

Guna Caves in Kodaikanal left me with mixed feelings due to the immense thick fog, creating an eerie atmosphere. However, the fog eventually lifted, revealing the unique rock formations and scenic beauty. The experience was both thrilling and enchanting, making it a memorable visit.

We have visited the place twice. There is 5 to 10 mins walk there from the entrance gate. If it's foggy you cannot see the valley view and the pillar rocks view. The entry to Guna Cave is restricted and one can only see the entrance to the cave. If it's foggy then again it's not visible. There are these tree roots are visible which will be looking like snakes. The walk within the mist is also great. Tickets will be there in the entrance but that is minimum only. And roadside parking is also available.

"Time spent amongst trees is never wasted time". It is such a good place to visit. The roots of the tree along with the fungus gives a naturalistic feel when we are there. Folks whoever visiting Kodaikanal please do visit Guna caves, not everyone like it but people who like nature would love it.

Also known as Devils kitchen. The caves are very dangerous and the entry is now restricted. Now we cannot go inside the cave. There is a watch tower where we can climb and have a good view of the kodaikanal mountains. The local people says sometimes fog covers the place and it looks like devil is cooking food underground. Do not have much expectation while visiting the place. There is a small fee of ₹10 per adult. The parking is at the roadside. Will be crowded always.

The Devil’s Kitchen may be thought of as an extension of the natural glory of the Pillar Rocks amidst which they are situated. This spot was the frequent haunt for those who loved a challenging stroll. Once it gained popularity after the release of the Tamil movie, “Guna” which was shot here, it has been attracting a number of tourists who visit these wondrous caverns to ponder the enchanting wonder of nature. These caves, discovered by the British official, B. S. Ward in 1821 CE, is situated at an elevation of 2230 metres. However, the location is quite secure as it offers a view of the caves from only a few safe positions, while entry to the risky spots has been restricted. You can stroll through the path covered by pine forests that lead to these caves and enjoy the warm atmosphere they impart. You can spend a whole day exploring the winding paths entangled in the ghostly woods of the Devil’s Kitchen. Hiding away secrets in its otherworldly landscape, the Devil’s Kitchen is a treasure trove for those with a zeal for exploration. Those ardent seekers will be blessed with countless spectacular views such as the unending green valley spanning the horizon and the nearby Pillar Rocks shrouded in a mystic veil of white fog. It also attracts photographers as it not only provides a brilliant setup for landscape shots but also allows you to capture memories with your friends or family. You do not want to forget your camera to capture this one!

Beautiful place to enjoy nature. Guna cave is part of a valley tour and can be reached easily after pine forest. Ticket price is 10rs per head and the distance is hardly a half km from the hill down. Steps are high so be careful while walking. Plenty of monkeys are there hence request you not to take or eat any food items there. The cave is closed due to negligible deaths. Paid toilets are available. If you find this review helpful then share your gratitude with a 👍

One of the most beautiful and marvelous place I've ever been. The trees and dense fog covering them , just breath taking. You can see some trees with the most beautiful root structures . You will definitely feel you are in magical place. There's a entry fee of Rs. 10 and then there's a small 5-10 mins walk inside. The caves are closed since 2012 and not open to the public but u can visit the area for it's scenic magical beauty

Good photogenic place. Not a cave though. It's more of an extension of the pine forest atmosphere with outer roots and an eerie vibe. The caves are closed off for the general public. Lots of photographers are available in the area too. Overall, worth a quick visit.

Even though We were unable to enter into Guna cave since it was closed for safety purpose. It was an awesome location to refresh yourself. The tall trees, giant roots, painted like green (fungus) of entire location, walking along with clouds everywhere, it's really enchanting ❤

I have been to this place before long back in my childhood but now this place is well maintained and one of the good tourist spot in Kodaikanal. Entrance ticket to be bought and go inside with small trek of 10 mins to reach the fenced area. Climate was too cool with mist . Beware of monkeys. Good spot for photo shoot and u can spend 45 to 1 hour for this spot.. Opposite to entrance there is chain of food and snacks outlets . Parking space was also Available.

The fantasy looking place of kodai. It's always covered in fog even in summer, this place gives a spooky vibe which is a must visit place. Be careful of the monkeys there a bit provocative, it's on the path of suicide point, botanical garden, pine forest, and the golf fields, and much more attractions nearby

The is one of the famous places in Kodaikanal. As per many people, this is a must visit place. To be honest, in my opinion this can be visited if you have time. There's an entry fee of Rupees 10 per person. The main attraction here is the intertwined roots of trees which is a different sight. Other than that, the view from a point nearby is very beautiful. You can see the mountains if the sky is clear.

Usually it will be crowded during weekends and holidays so parking will be bit challenging when it's overcrowded other than that no issues it's a good place to spend time with family and friends where the entry ticket is 10rs per person and if you are lucky enough u will get the fog all over the cave area with cold wind and a light drizzle and the thing is there are lot of monkeys so be careful with your bags because they will come from behind and will open the bag to get the foods on bag so be careful with that and overall it's a natural heritage place to spend time 🥰

Guna Caves, formerly known as Devi's Kitchen, is undoubtedly a unique and captivating destination, even though it's currently not accessible for exploration. My recent visit left me with an unusual and intriguing experience. While the caves themselves were closed off, the surroundings provided a fascinating opportunity for photography enthusiasts. The roots of plants and trees snaking around the entrance created a devilish and somewhat eerie backdrop, reminiscent of the mystical aura that surrounds these caves. The contrast between the natural beauty and the historical significance of the site made for some truly captivating photo opportunities. However, I must share a curious incident that happened during my visit. As I was taking pictures near the entrance, my phone started to act strangely. The photos I captured turned out to be distorted and surreal, with peculiar visual effects that I couldn't explain. It was almost as if the atmosphere around the caves had a mysterious impact on my device. While this may be a technical glitch, it added an unexpected element of intrigue to my visit. Even though I couldn't explore the caves themselves, the overall experience at Guna Caves was a memorable one. It's a place that seems to hold secrets and mysteries, even when it's closed off to the public. I would recommend a visit for those who appreciate the unusual and enigmatic aspects of natural and historical landmarks. Just be prepared for some unexpected surprises, as I encountered with my phone's photos.

It is about a unique natural heritage site called the Devil's Kitchen or Guna Caves. It is located at the outskirts of Kodaikanal town and it can be reached from the popular Moir Point. The place, which remained little known and was rarely visited only by the hikers became very popular after a Tamil movie named 'Guna' was shot here in 1992. These cliffs were covered by Shola trees and native grasses. Later, the Europeans and Americans introduced many non-native tree species to this area. Apart from the caverns, the gnarled Shola trees and their roots make this site as an interesting and favorite one. Nevertheless, the place remained unknown till early 1990s. Hardly, few hikers used to visit this site. The numerous caverns enclosed by dense vegetation were in fact a dangerous trip. The highlight of the trip was to descend into the split between the third pillar rock and the main cliff face. It is the deepest cave which is actually called as the Devil's Kitchen.

I have visited this place two times. First time it was misty so didn't had a good view and second time it was clear sunny day and i was surprised by the view which i had missed earlier due to mist. There is a amazing view of piller rock and the valley form here and also the big tree roots which spread across the ground. So it is always a good choice to visit here when there is no mist. There are also lot of monkeys so be careful if you carry something in hand.
