Niraamaya Retreats Backwaters was above our expectations, we really enjoyed our stay here. During these pandemic times we were looking for a safe and hygienic place where we can spend some quality time with our little one. Niraamaya fulfilled everything that we were looking for. The food, the place, the view, the staff, the safety measures everything were perfect.

Long review alert - We are from cochin and we often lookout for places in and around cochin for staycations. Now coming to the point, at first instance we found the place decent . Having been to Samroha, our expectations were high. We parked our car and checked in. The checkin was smooth , thanks to the team at the reception . What then followed was completely unexpected. Their was a heavy rain and the room in which we were to stay started to leak. On a bad day , anything can happen and it can happen to anyone. Luckily Mr.Mridul from customer care came and did everything possible to make good for what we had to go through. We were immediately shifted to a different villa and were taken care in the best possible way. Kudos to Mr. Mridul and Mr.Anish (Chef) for going out of the way to make our stay memorable. We enjoyed every bit of it. Thanks to Mr.Abin the steward and Ms.Shilpa for helping us around. We being #familytravellers were on the lookout for some activities. This place has just a handful of things to do inside . You can either walk around , take a dip in the #Swimmingpool , play with the #ducks or feed the fishes . Overall a great stay. Withholding one star so that they would take extra measures and be prepared for any eventualities. My son who is 4 years old loved the place. Am sure, so will yours.

We had a good stay here. Beautiful property with beautiful rooms. The property is lush, had a big lawn area facing the waters and has fantastic sunset views. There is a small piece like structure from where you can do some fishing or sit and watch sunset from. The staff can serve you tea and snacks wherever you ask for. There are some geese, cows and also some fish in a pond that you can feed - fun for kids.

***THIS REVIEW IS FOR THE RESTAURANT*** We had gone to this place based on the review shown on google , so we had decided to pay a visit , and decided to order the following list of items from the menu and also will be rating the food along side : Appetizers : - French fries - Not to bad could have done better , it was saltier than expected. - Chicken walnut salad - Fantastic , Everyone loved it . Lebanese Mezze platter - the portions were very small and not much could be shared around for family consisting of 8 Pax . even after ordering 2 plates Sesame Chickens Fingers - once again not enough to go around for a family consisting of 8 Pax , there was also no portion size mentioned or suggested to order more or less. Chicken nuggets - the kid was happy about it , so no complaint :) Main course : Honey Mustard chicken - it was a nice piece of chicken breast marinated properly with a side of mashed potato and some vegetables . Fisherman's basket - this by far the worst order on the table which is just smelled and not cooked properly , to be honest no one was quiet happy about the fisherman's basket , there was still smell of the fish on the platter served and also the shrimp was not at all cooked . Chicken Pasta - this was not a very good option , the pasta lacked salt and pepper , which was supposed to be the basic ingredients in the pasta . Desserts : we had ordered for the payasam for the day and dessert of the day from the chef , which i can say was not at all worth it . Conclusion : i would suggest the restaurant to be more cautious on the portion serving size and also also to make sure that the food being served is fresh and doesn't smell of anything from the raw product ingredient but the spices used in it , also the desserts can do a lot better as well. since the meal is always complete with a fulfilling dessert .

Medium sized hotel just back from the lake that blends into its surroundings. All staff extremely attentive and friendly. Food very nice and the chef checks daily if everything is fine. Only one restaurant that I feel could do with a bit of design love. Felt a bit cold and soulless at times. The other restaurant was waiting for an alcohol licence to open as a bar. Lovely quiet cultural entertainment each evening. Sunset activities feeding geese and cows were fun. The pool area is fantastic.

Nestled in the lush green environment and on the banks of Vembanad lake this place is absolutely a paradise and a retreat for nature lovers. Exceptional service and very friendly nature of the staff alongside delicious food are some of the highlights. Not to mention the kite flying and goose feeding at the evening were really enjoyable moments. I truly loved my stay at the Niraamaya resorts. It was a fabulous experience.

Amazing service and very accommodating. The restaurant and Chef Jomon especially, were amazing - catering to our dietary requirements and mindful of the spice levels, going out of his way to make sure we are taken care of. Would definitely recommend this resort and the restaurant. 5 stars for sure!

Beautiful location on the lake. Phenomenal staff who spend much energy on ensuring a pleasant vacation. The restaurant is a standout amongst all of my travel experiences. Some of the best food overall I've ever had. And we had just traveled from a 5 star hotel in Dubai that tasted like canned food compared to the Nirmaaya. Lovely rooms and a peaceful ambience. Very happy stay here

We as a family of 7 stayed in Niraamaya for 2 nights. everything was great about our stay. The location is serene and peaceful, well maintained. The rooms are huge and maintained the traditional touch. The hospitality was excellent. Nothing was too much for the staff who were very flexible and accommodating. The food was delicious including the complementary fruits we received everyday. The chef always came to the table to ask for feedback and also explain certain traditional dishes that we did not know of. Spa massages were good although it got very busy at weekends, the staff were accommodating.

Best service I've received in a long time, excellent food and beautiful, well-maintained grounds. Would 100% recommend staying here again. We visited with my parents and our in-laws and everyone from my 10-year old nephew to my 68-year old father in law enjoyed the time at the resort. We stayed at the lake-view rooms which were massive. Bedframes were a bit too high for the older generation so the hotel staff was kind enough to bring a stool. Pool is great too and dinner was quick to be served and came out all at once so we were actually able to eat together at the same time which for family nights out is super important to me.

The only suggestion is if the resort can develop their jetty and if guests can do boat rides directly from the resort rather than going out of the resort (which was not exactly an issue as the resort arranged for transport). We received a yummy treat as our farewell gift from the chef too. I would definitely like to visit again.

Excellent service and location. Fantastic spa! Fabulous breakfast spread. Options in restaurant should Include some more authentic Kerala cuisine and dining experiences. Make sure before booking to confirm whether the room you book is on ground level or up from a flight of stairs as that can be an issue for older people/ people with joint issues or wheelchair/walker.

We were happy with the upgrade they provided to a private pool villa. Receptionists were so humble and elegant to handle every client. Rooms were pretty much standard, facilities also matched the price. The private pool and the view from the courtyard was the main attraction. We enjoyed a lot on the private pool itself. Provate pool and public pool both were not having enough depth thats a negative point for me. Breakfast was complimentary and it doesn't have any non veg options, i had better breakfasts before it was only above average. Overall i would give 4 /5

The property is well kept, clean and filled with beautiful flowering plants. The resort overlooks the lake to the west so you get great sunsets. The staff are attentive and friendly and the food is very good (we had both Indian and western style food and both were excellent). Fully recommend staying here.

Absolutely gorgeous landscaping! A wonderful place to stroll around. Every room is different, with terrace and sliding glass doors. Very artfully arranged on the property. We enjoyed the Indian classical dancer in the evening and waking to views of the houseboats and fishing boats heading out onto the lake. Food is great, the breakfast buffet is huge! All the staff were friendly and helpful. On site there is a health spa, small exercise room and open air yoga studio. Kite flying in the afternoon. A great place to relax and enjoy India!

My wife and I recently had the pleasure of visiting Niraamaya Retreats Kumarakom, and I must say it was an experience beyond my expectations. From the moment we set foot on this tranquil haven, we were transported into a world of pure relaxation and rejuvenation. The resort is recommended for its serene ambience and breathtaking natural surroundings (especially the view of the backwaters), the attentive and friendly staff and the range of rejuvenating ayurvedic massages the spa has to offer. Our experience there was nothing short of exceptional. We left feeling relaxed, revitalised, and ready to take on the world again. It's a sanctuary for the mind, body, and soul, and we can't wait to return for another visit.

My recent stay at Niraamaya Retreats Backwaters & Beyond in Kumarakom was nothing short of magical. This retreat is a true gem in the heart of the backwaters. The setting is breathtaking, surrounded by serene backwaters and lush greenery. The luxurious cottages are elegantly designed, offering privacy and comfort with a touch of traditional Kerala architecture. The highlight of my stay was the impeccable service. The staff here is incredibly attentive and friendly, always ensuring that guests feel pampered and at home. The food at the restaurant was a culinary delight, with a variety of local and international dishes. Dining by the backwaters added to the charm. The wellness and spa facilities were world-class. The Ayurvedic treatments were rejuvenating, and the yoga sessions were a great way to start the day. Exploring the backwaters on a traditional houseboat arranged by the resort was a unique experience. It allowed me to witness the beauty of Kumarakom from a different perspective. Niraamaya Retreats Backwaters & Beyond is not just a place to stay; it's an experience that rejuvenates your body and soul. If you're looking for a peaceful and luxurious retreat in Kumarakom, I highly recommend this haven. I can't wait to return.

I booked the resort at the last minute encouraged by the fact that they have a package for solo women travelers. What a good decision it turned out to be! It is a wonderful property and very well managed. Entire management follows old world hospitality - courteous, friendly but never intrusive. They went out of way to meet my requirements whether it was vegetarian food options or boat rides. Would like to mention their outstanding spa managed by Dr. Vinija - a very competent and polite young lady. Chef Aman Islam prepared gourmet meals - every dish was fresh, aromatic and authentic. Evening cultural program was also outstanding. The rooms have superb view of the lake.

Had a wonderful single night stay. We had booked a luxury lake view pool villa but they upgraded us to premium lake view pool villa. The rooms, pool and view were fantastic. All the food was good. The chef was ready to make things of our liking. The spa was relaxing. Only thing I wanted to pinpoint was during breakfast the dosa that was served to us got cold before it came to the table.

A beautiful property at a prime location with a breathtaking garden. If you are looking for a peaceful holiday retreat you can't go wrong with this property. We loved our stay here. Everything was perfect apart from a few things which could have enhanced our experience. There were no lakeside restaurant / cafe or anything with a lakeview which was a little unexpected for a property in such a beautiful location. There are no amenities for kids. Noone whatsoever. They don't serve alcohol in the property.

Such a great experience with Niraamaya ! Though the place was fully booked when we visited there, the place is never crowded and you can literally enjoy the serenity of the nature and relax your soul. The rooms are quite big and ensures maximum privacy. The food especially the breakfast buffet was good. The staffs always greet us with a pleasant smile and ready to help us always. The check in and check out process was so smooth and hassle free. Special mention to Ms. Sandra who helped us at the front desk and guided us for a property tour.

First to the good part, the staff was really helpful and good. Our room Periyar, probably had the best views of all the rooms. Food was pretty good too. Now the bad part, the resort is run down, poorly planned, not worth the price....

Beautiful location but the food and service was not upto the price point standard. Charging five star rates for rooms and food.. but the menu was limited and over priced though cooked well. Booked a waterfront facing pool room but the pools are very small and the one we got was not cleaned until we asked for it.. Room ac was loud and every change over kept waking us up... No in room bar or snacks or soft drinks... even drinking water not refilled on the second day after the first was over and had to be requested..(which was provided quickly..) Overall experience was more budget resort with a great view and decent rooms.

Feeling of openness and vastness as you move around the property . Excellent courtesy from staff. One thing... If the reception would be on ground level as you enter, if would be so much better . After the security lets you in, you find yourself in an empty reception area... The main one is after climbing a short flight of stairs. Maybe this should change.

Rooms are huge. And that's where the excitement ends. Not sure what the hype from other reviewers is all about. The rooms are far far away from the lake. Firstly, extremely limited food options. No buffet. Not even in breakfast. The evening tea/coffee are not complimentary. Nothing special in the culinary side. In Niraamaya, even the lake front premium villas are a good 150-200mts away from the lake. There is nothing obstructing the view but then it's not satisfying to see the lake from that far after you pay upwards of 18k per night per room. If you have to stay in Niraamaya then do not opt for waterfront villa with private pool. You do not get anything different from what you get in Superior lake view villa or even Luxury private pool villa with lake view which are less priced. I stayed in Coconut Lagoon as well and all things compared that was a far superior experience at same cost of holiday. Sure their rooms are small but they have a better view of the lake and are very close to the lake as well. Their food options are much better. Starting from the welcome, everything seems a bit more authentic kerala style.

Really nice property. Not much crowded. Friendly staffs and small but tasty restaurant. Complimentary breakfast is also quite good. Also not all rooms have good views towards the lake so make sure you booked the ones with good views. Saw a Barathanatyam performance in the evening ..Which was a good experience...Even though targeted crowd was foreigners. Will go again sure.

Love this heaven... The highlight of this place is that it's not overcrowded.. staffs were caring and friendly. They always make sure their guests are happy and comfortable with customized service and close interactions.Food was delectable (tried continental, naadan and desserts). While booking try to go for the ones which has the backwater lake views so you can enjoy the sunset and a nice dip in personal pool . A much recommended place for families who wish to have a break from.daily life .. a life retreat experience. Thank you Niraamaya... Will come again..

Fantastic resort - great waterfront location, amenities, cultural performances and staff. On the day I arrived, the water hyacinth growth on the lake was very high and the water looked too far away - but luckily it cleared off by next morning, giving us an unhindered view of the beautiful Vembanad lake for the remaining days. (would suggest the resort management should take the effort to keep the weed growth clear as the lake views are the prime attraction) The rooms are well arranged so that they all have unhindered views of the lake. Landscaping is lovely, with every view of the lake being framed so well and the architecture is in traditional Kerala style. Food was absolutely delicious - the breakfast and dinner menus were so well-crafted with a great combination of local Kerala dishes and other cuisines. Was happy to get to try great local dishes every day - compliments to the chef for such a great menu. There was great live music for dinner on the weekend nights and traditional dance performances - folk dance, Mohiniyattam etc - in the evenings, which added to the experience. The staff were all wonderful and ensured a very comfortable stay. Highly recommend.

We had booked a lake facing room . The room is very spacious and relaxing. A full lake view is available . We had the breakfast included and it is a good selection and variety. They include local food as well. The property is quite big and they have activities in the evening like duck feeding , cow feeding and fishing . The property is bang on the lake and the sunset can be seen very beautifully from the room. They even have a ayurvedic spa which is a must try . Nice place to relax .

There is a small piece like structure from where you can do some fishing or sit and watch sunset from. The staff can serve you tea and snacks wherever you ask for. There are some geese, cows and also some fish in a pond that you can feed - fun for kids. The food was quite good, and the chef does an excellent job preparing them. However the only downside is the service in the restaurant - they are very slow and are inexperienced in taking and managing orders and ensuring that good gets delivered in the right order - we faced this multiple times to the point that we preordered the dinner so that we did not have to deal with the mess. Again, the food itself was quite good. The pool is reasonably sized but the pictures on the website make it seem bigger than it is. The pool floor is not a smooth surface in order to aid grip however if your kids spend a lot of time in there, it tends to start scrapping the feet which can be painful. Overall the stay was great and the staff were polite and super helpful and warm

Wonderful stay We stayed with our family for two nights in this resort and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The rooms were spacious, luxurious and clean. We booked rooms with a private pool, which is a good enough size to relax in. The hotel is surrounded by nature, and we saw many species of birds and butterflies. Food at the hotel was very good, with a large spread of food for breakfast and fresh food for lunch and dinner. A special mention goes to the chef, who catered very well with his team for the Jain member of our group. We enjoyed using other facilities at the hotel, including the spa, the boutique shop, the daily cultural programs and the pool. The service was also amazing, with very helpful and friendly members of staff. Overall, we found this hotel a fantastic place to stay and would definitely recommend it to anyone travelling to Kumarakom.
