I'll always love Big Star. I first went here when I was 21 on a trip. I had little money, so ate the aperitivo and fell in love with the barmaid who would sit with me every day in her bell-bottom trousers and ask what I was writing, but who also had a boyfriend. I would go on every trip to Rome since. It felt like a community spot – always buzzing and friendly. I'm 29 now, and the last time I visited Rome it felt like it lost something, a bit of its soul (this is happening all over Trastevere). The outdoor seating has changed and is less spontaneous. The staff, of which there were always just 2 and now like 4, don't seem that welcoming, especially if you're foreign. Four stars for my memories and nostalgia, but I don't know Big Star anymore. Would love to know what happened to that barmaid though, I heard she became a singer.

The best local bar in Trastevere. Their food is excellent, the staff is outstanding and prices are affordable. The bar keepers are fun to watch! The party crowd is outside and it is quiet inside. Take note-It’s not a huge bar and the outside tables fill up fast. 5 stars!

I don’t know how else to say this, but this place made the best chili hot dog I’ve ever eaten. Incredible hot dog. Quality of the meat is stratospheric. How?

We had time to kill before our flight out of Rome so we stopped by a few places to snack and drink. We started out hopping at this place at around 1030 and man did we find a gem! Place is awesome! Amazing beers on tap, great service, great seating for our family of 5. Lots of families were coming in to just have a beer and takeout food. Food was great and ambiance was perfect. Loved the music! HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Also, there’s a kids park really close, so let the kids play before you hit your next drinking spot.

My go-to breakfast place in Trastevere. Not a vast variety but enaugh options for pastries, good coffee. I would also recommend fresh squeezed orange juice. Very good people and always good music.

There was zero alcohol in the cocktail that was €8. Not realy a cosy area and no menu for drinks so they can say whatever they want.

Service is fun, food is good, drinks are cheap, and the atmosphere is spot on. This place feels like somewhere that Romans actually hang out. Don’t ruin it.

We didn’t get a menu and the servers barely paid any attention to us. The food wasn’t very good either. The potatoes were microwaved and my main course was kinda flavourless. It might have been a problem because we had to order blindly from a not very well visible blackboard (since we didn’t get a menu) but I would still except some sort of flavour in my food. I’m sorry but I wouldn’t recommend this place.

Fantastic little watering hole off the beaten path. Great drinks for a very reasonable price and nice people watching. The kitchen was still closed when we came but looks like some interesting stuff there too

Cosy and informal place where you instantly feel welcome. Staff is friendly and service minded. Food and beers are good quality and definitely value for money. Water is free an I didn't notice any dodgy service charge.

Best bar in trastevere. By far. Awesome vibe, great patrons. I dont think ive ever come across a bar scenario where EVERYONE of the staff is sooooooo niiiiiice that you wanna marry them. Or leave huge tips anyway. Just simply an unbelievably good experience.

Something about Rock Café. It's nice here, the people at the bar and the service too. There was Bock beer... 1 of nine types. You can also sit outside, but it was cold in March at 5:30 p.m. There are also little things to eat. Breakfast and burgers.

Has potential I would say. The bar has tables scattered around where you can find your place - the music is also nice. Probably lower price big beers compared to other craft style places as well at 6yoyos. There was something that made me move after 1 beer though 🤷‍♂️ no bad.

Loved everything about this cozy, atmospheric diner. As a Canadian visiting, my Italian was poor, but staff are friendly and welcoming. Food was delicious, and very reasonably priced. Loved it.

We stayed at the nearby hotel and had our breakfast here. We were very pleased. The employees are very polite and caring.

A bar not for tourists and with the soul of the neighborhood in Trastevere

Great vibes and great food. We stumbled upon this place looking to grab a bite to eat and were so pleasantly surprised. Got a few focaccias to share and they were huge and delicious. Super reasonable prices. 10/10

Practically my home and therefore inevitably it will be a less than objective review. It's welcoming: Cool in summer and a hearth in winter. The staff are always friendly and helpful and the beer selection is excellent. The food is always good with the quality of a pub but slightly higher. The music is always the right one, a rock that always reminds you where you started from to be the person you are today. Roma matches on the upper floor and various evenings of stand up comedy, concerts and events. What can we say... if we catch up at the Big?

Sadly we only went once here on our last day in Roma :)! Beer was very delicious and the Barkeeper super Friendly. He also gave us some cookies for our flight home for free! Would definitely come back here!

Amazing place, Big Star named after the fantastic band with Alex Chilton and Chris Bell. Great coffee, sandwiches and awesome double IPA's and grand music! We spent 5 days in Roma last september, we had a few good IPA's and a day later we had a few ones and one of the staff recognized us and he said "before you guys go hang on" sand he gave us an ice cold liquor "berry of the gods" he told us and he absolutely right. Love this place. See you again this year in september!

I went here on my first day in Italy, the staff were very friendly and even gave me basic language/navigation tips for staying in Rome. Good coffee/beer, fast service, and everything is very cheap.

Fun, great atmosphere and soundtrack. Far enough from the tourist trap that much of Trastevere has become to retain its soul.

Good draft beer, we had to ask for chips three times until we just gave up though.

They are super confused and inflexible. People fighting for a table and the waitress doesn’t care about hospitality to who are waiting for. Unfortunately they have the spot, the location, the product, but the service of this waitress and the organization is terrible.

Very nice bar with a good vibe - zeer gezellig :) They’ve got nice cocktails and the beers change often. I can definitely recommend this place.

The best bar, let alone vibe, we’ve been to in Italy! Mario was an absolute legend, sending us off on our trip home to Australia with a fond farewell! If we’re ever back in Rome, this will be our first stop. Forza Roma
