Best beach in west Africa. Clear Blue waters, white sand, amazing ocean views, sublime confluence of The River and the Atlantic ocean framed by the lush green backdrop of the Freetown Peninsula Mountain range and shaded by the blue and white cloud cover. This is indeed Paradise on earth. Let's help preserve this gem by keeping it free from rubbish and overdevelopment.

Came here on a Sunday, really beautiful place to chill. There was a wind which was actually nice too so it wasn't too hot. We sat on the beach chairs you can rent for 10,000 per chair, with which you'll get a table and umbrella for the group. The food was also good - fish and rice, or chicken and chips, or a combination of them was 7,000, it was tasty, and came with salad too. The beach is truly stunning and is well looked after too.

You're basically coming for the beach. The accommodation facility is very basic, but the staff are usually friendly and helpful. As well as u can plan for office outing and beach fista with born fire and dj with white stand . There are 12 double rooms that view the ocean. The rooms remain very basic with no luxuries but the sound of the waves and the tropical birds. They are ever more charming as everything is clearly handmade. The rooms are equipped with a mosquito net, bucket shower and a fan. Included in the price is breakfast: toast with jam and eggs, coffee and tea. If ordered the evening in advance, the chefs are happy to slice up a fresh platter of fruit. Towels are not provided, as happens at most smaller guesthouses in Sierra Leone.

Nice beach - but only worth a day visit - no need to stay out here

  • 5/5 Raju Y. 3 years ago on Google • 59 reviews
Beautiful + lots of trees & local ownership. The beach is run by a local community, which takes great pride + funds get used locally. No foreign overlords for the staff + lots of local pride. Its also the closest area to Freetown with LOTS of trees, both by the beach and on the hills nearby. + view of islands A few cultural barriers to overcome - a few messy areas - and the cooking is simple. But its all worth it. Great for a day trip - 1U$D entrance fee - and cabins are said to be U$D35 a night (including breakfast).

One of the best beaches in Salone. It is clean, well maintained and exactly if not more beautiful as in guidebooks. This is perfect place for a day at the beach or just as a lunch stop. I loved every minute here and the sand is really soooft.

Excellent beach for a day outing. Have visited there twice. The white sandy beach is absolutely beautiful and the area is kept very clean. The distant islands make for some amazing pictures. It's fun to walk down to where the fresh water river pours into the ocean. One warning about the river is to watch out for crocodiles, just stay near the ocean and you won't have to worry. The area has some small vendor shops and is a great place to pick up some souvenirs. The restaurant at the beach serves amazing chicken and lobster and of course orange Fanta!

Within easy reaching distance from Freetown, this beach gets very busy. It's understandable as it's beautiful - the white, soft sand, the gentle slope into the sea. Tokeh (just across the estuary) is much quieter if you want some peace (when tide is out you can wade across) but there's a little shuttle / row boat in operation for a small fee. River No 2 Beach is loud with loud music and obnoxious people often. A few restaurants, all selling same same, some with sun loungers most with tables and umbrellas. Excellent seafood. Like any of Sierra Leone's beaches (outside of Freetown), depending on what time of year you go will depend on how much litter you will find - including medical waste and glass so be careful.

This is still one of the best beaches on the Peninsula👍🏼. A very good place to relax with nature🙇🏽‍♀️🏃🏽‍♀️. Sand is mostly white❤️. The beach also has a shallow lake with transparent water❤️. This is great for kids or people with a fear of the ocean🤽‍♀️🤽🏾. If you prefer surfing🏄🏽‍♀️, the ocean is there. For social people, the beach is buzzing on weekends. For people that love quiet, come on weekdays or weekends before 4pm. It's true, you will have to pay for a shaded table. You could bring in your own food and drinks too.

Number 2 Beach tourism is a Great place to be for anyone who wishes to unwind. I have been hearing so much about Number 2 Beach in Freetown Sierra Leone which I was very lucky to visit last weekend. I enjoyed every moment I spent there. The beach is so serene and the blue water provides the splendor of nature soothing to any soul. I highly recommend this beach for visits.

Around 30kms away from Freetown, River Number Two beach is a must visit place for everyone travelling to Sierra Leone and more so if you are travelling to Freetown. It is a serene white sand beach which also has few options to have a stay. Very less crowded. White sand and sea green/ocean bluish water makes it one of the most beautiful beach of Sierra Leone. Roads leading to the beach from Freetown are well constructed until half way. The later half do not have well constructed roads. Must visit and highly recommended place to visit. They do charge a small entry fee to visit the beach but more than worth it.

Love this beach. Price of entry, nothing too high, very popular with foreigners and locals. They have tables to rent and umbrellas included. There is also a bar/restaurant, depending on season they have fantastic seafood. Maybe the best beach of the world. On the back of the restaurant there is a local market, there are wood carvings, bags, trousers, shirts t-shirts. The majority of the clothing places make clothing up to measure on the spot in an hour they make shirts or trousers or any garment they could make. Talk the price in advance, before hand that's a wise idea and advice. There are toilets in the beach. The places is maybe one of the best beaches I have seen in Sierra Leone, during the week is empty, during the weekend is full of live.

Kommerzieller Strand wo man für den Tisch schon 7 $ bezahlen muss. Wenn man Menschen mag, vor allem am Wochenende, ist man hier am richtigen Ort. Der Strand ist schön. Wir bevorzugen andere Strände

On we afternoon this place is owerload and noisy by music. To go to a quite place you need to cross the river Le5000. The food is good. You need to pay for chairs and table on the beach 10.000 by chaire. The price on local market is highier then in Freetown

My favorite beach in Sierra Leone. Not as crowded as Lumley beach on most days. Always clean and the community have a good security culture. I feel safer here than at any other beach in Sierra Leone. It now gets busier on holidays but pretty much with the right kind of crowd. For me the only downside is the few meters of dusty road to get to the beach. Hopefully that wouldn't be a problem after the road is completed.

A community managed beach with bright white sand. About 20 kms from Freetown city. Accessible only with private transportation. Entry fees Leones 5000 or about 75 Cents. Drinks and food available from the local vendors. Tables and umbrellas available at about USD 5.

Had an enjoyable time at the Number 2 beach during the 2016 Christmas break. The sand is white with a clean water. The most amazing is the Number 2 river that flows into the Atlantic ocean at this beach. Flock of birds are seen always flying the coaster area.

Wonderful beach! Nice scenery. Prices however are high here. For me it feels a bit strange to live in luxury at this amazing beach, zipping a beer and only 100 m away from there, poverty dominates everything.

Gotta love a white sand West African beach. Very warm water, no strong currents, hard along the beach, local shopping, great vibe, always a soccer game going on, fantastic scenery with untouched mountainous jungles in the background. Nice little getaway of you're in Freetown.

With it white sand and Crystal clear water, it is one of the best beach in the world. Located along the Peninsula Highway , it is about an hour drive from the City Centre on a busy day. It can be found in a serene environment with friendly residents near by. Popular spot amongst tourist and it is the poster beach for Sierra Leone Tourism.
