I really enjoyed visiting the Living Maya Experience that the Cals run & learning more about the culture -- plus I had a delicious lunch (even if the tortillas I made were a little lopsided, they were still tasty!! :)

Wonderful, educational experience, perfect for kids and anyone who wants to understand contemporary Mayan life. Anita and Cristobal were very kind, making our meal was a lot of fun, and the food was delicious. Worth the trip.

What a wonderful experience preparing A Maya meal with Ms Anita and her daughter, Amina. Start to finish we made caldo (chicken soup), tortillas, and chocolate drink using traditional Maya cooking and harvesting herbs on site. We were warmly received and cared for. For an experience of authentic Maya cooking this can't be beat. 5 stars.

Mom & teen, we had a great time! Very engaging learning about Kek-chi vs Mopan Mayan dress, grinding corn & cacao (eating it later), tools & music instruments, etc., plants and herbs around the property. July-August is slow season--wish there were 4-6 more with us. Special fun learning about snail shells for lime, the plants, herbs and soap berries, too. A full 2-3 hr visit, $60 bz. Delicious lunch, better than at Eladio's Cacao Farm tour ($90-100 bz, a bit over-hyped & over-priced). But worth doing both experiences when in the south. Thank you Anita and lovely family! Restaurant onsite serves dinner. Occasional live music. Great place for beer.

Really liked this!!! Seemed very authentic. They took plenty of time to explain authentic Mayan culture and answer any questions. Several parts were hands on and participatory. This is DEFINITELY worth the money and time.

We so enjoyed hearing the culture and learning the old ways of the Mayan people. It was a great cultural and educational experience. Anita was very informative and helped us make corn tortilla and Cocoa drink - we ground the corn and the cocoa beans. Her husband then showed us traditional Mayan instruments and took us for a walk in the garden to show us herbs and plants and remedies from them. The grounds are beautiful and well cared for. The meal was exceptional. I mentioned how much we love coconut and they went right away and cut some from the tree and gave us to drink. It was a wonderful experience. Very good price for what you get.

I highly recommend this tour! The host family was warm and welcoming and had such a depth of knowledge about Mayan culture and history. And bonus lunch was one of the best meals of our trip!

It was the most delicious, interactive, enjoyable experience we've ever had learning and becoming a part of the culture.

I've done one before in Dominican Republic that showed an actual home and living experience. This was no where close. Disappointed, just showed a few items that could be used in a home. Did appreciate the showing of how tamales were made in the olden days but that was about it.
