On
a
high
school
trip
54
years
ago,
I
was
fortunate
to
visit
Teotihuacan,
a
fascinating
historical
place,
on
a
par
with
the
Egyptian
pyramids.
While
there,
6
or
7
of
us
decided
to
climb
the
Temple
of
the
Sun,
now
more
commonly
called
the
Pyramid
of
the
Sun.
I
understand
today
there
are
hand
cables
to
assist
your
climb,
but
then
there
was
nothing,
just
as
it
had
been
back
in
the
Aztec’s
time.
You
climbed
at
your
own
risk.
It
was
quite
challenging.
The
higher
you
climbed,
the
taller
&
narrower
the
stone
steps
became,
with
increasing
hazards
of
large
cracks
&
weather-worn
holes.
They
became
too
high
to
easily
step
up
or
down,
requiring
use
of
hands
&
knees.
On
the
upper
tiers,
in
an
effort
to
prevent
turning
an
ankle
or
falling,
it
was
slow
going.
With
nothing
to
hold
onto,
if
you
fell
who
knows
how
far
you
could
go
before
stopping,
not
to
mention
probable
injuries.
It
was
steep.
Upon
reaching
the
top,
the
reward
and
sense
of
accomplishment
was
worth
every
bit
of
effort
and
difficulty.
To
this
day,
I
am
so
glad
I
can
say
I
did
that.
So,
if
you
can,
go
to
this
magical
place,
learn
about
it’s
intriguing
history,
and
if
you
can,
climb
at
least
one
or
two
of
the
pyramids.
It
will
gift
you
with
priceless,
cherished
memories
for
a
lifetime.
Also,
I
don’t
know
if
it’s
still
there,
but
we
ate
in
a
very
nice
restaurant
located
in
a
grotto,
somewhere
close
by,
possibly
on
the
same
grounds.
