Great to see that still today this monument remembers us of the tragedy that happened here and all the football fans that bring the scarfs to the place in honor of these great players. A special and emotional place.

Beautiful monument, you get a chilling feeling when thinking about the tragedy that happened there. Must see for every person who loves football. Some might say it's a little hidden, but it's really not that hard to find, just walk around the church and you'll see it (it's at the back of it)

(Translated by Google) Behind the Basilica of Superga stands the monument that commemorates the tragedy that occurred here, of the Grande Torino football team. At 17.03 on Wednesday 4 May 1949, the Fiat G.212 aircraft of the airline ALI (Avio Lines Italiane), which brought home the entire team of the "Grande Torino", crashed into the thick fog against the rear wall of the complex architecture of Superga, causing the death of all 31 passengers. The Torino team, which was returning from Lisbon after a friendly match with the Benfica team to celebrate the farewell to football of the Lusitanian team captain Francisco Ferreira, was considered one of the strongest in the world at the time, had won four league titles consecutive from the 1942-1943 season to the 1947-1948 season. His players made up the majority of the Italian national team. In the crash the entire Torino team, made up of 18 players, its managers and companions, the crew members and three of the best Italian journalists lost their lives: Renato Casalbore (founder of Tuttosport), Renato Tosatti (Gazzetta del Popolo) and Luigi Cavallero (La Stampa). Their remains were exhibited in Palazzo Madama. Turin stopped completely on the day of the funeral. The Turin team was proclaimed the winner of the championship by federal resolution, thus receiving its fifth championship, despite still missing four days before its end. At the following matches the team sent its youth formation and so did the opponents on duty, out of respect and solidarity.

Remarkable place, spectacular view. Looks a bit neglected. But restoration is giving a life.

A place of tragedy shows how sports legends are created and how to give respect for opponents. Place with a sense of honor and sacred than any other place.
