Not sure how this place has any good reviews. Felt uncomfortable the entire time i was here. Will not come back, i advise anyone reading this to also seriously reconsider your visit. Much better options, crews and tango across the street for one.

My first time visiting a bar on church and it was amazing. The overall vibe is so unique but friendly and the drag show was a new experience for me that I loved. As a straight male, everyone was so welcoming and I can see why it's always a fully packed crowd. It's a large space with plenty of seating but can be difficult to get some since it's so lively and the drinks are not too expensive either. Would totally recommend for anyone looking for both a great time and experience.

Woody’s was one of our favourite bars when we visited Church Street in Toronto. We found it easy to order drinks even during busy nights. The music was really good too. Security could improve on being better at hospitality too. Admittedly, several of their bouncers didn’t seem as friendly as the other bouncers who work for their competitors along Church Street, based on our experience. Despite that, we still enjoyed our time at Woody’s.

Such a fun drag bar with no entry fees. The performances were great and I can see myself going here again. We reached a bit early and hence the staff was super friendly because they had the time to chat with us. :) Loved the overall vibe of the place and the drinks weren't expensive. Note that this place doesn't serve food so have your dinner before going to this place.

Great casual fun place on Church Street to go out any day of the week. There is always a show and some fun drag performances. The waiters are very friendly and it’s easy to order even in the crowded nights. Went there with friends and had a great time. Tip: if you want to skip the line at the door, go early and have a drink or grab something to eat

Generally a nice bar with a good atmosphere and performances. Would give 5 stars , but the bartender man (the older one around his 40s or 50s with the belly)'s communication skills were rash and rude. Classless and a bit gross to be honest... Not sure about the other bartenders though since it was my first time there.

Great space with multiple bars, room to dance, and some of the best queens in the village. However, the last couple of times I have frequented Woody’s I have had the misfortune of encountering an older quebecois bartender who treated my friends and I extremely rudely. On multiple occasions he has badgered us for taking too long to order drinks, blaming us for “loss of business” and is overall extremely condescending and unwelcoming. I have also noticed a stark difference in how he treats customers of color as well as younger customers. It’s a real shame that he is bringing so much hostility and negativity to what is supposed to be a safe and inviting space.

Rude security, 2 drinks and I was kicked out even though people drunker than me we’re allowed in the bar, but because I’m a woman they assumed my tolerance was low. Sexist bar and ableist. I have epilepsy and my medication includes dizziness they assumed I was too drunk when in actuality it was my epilepsy medication. They do not care about their customers nor do they care about their well being like they claim. Disgusting management and staff. If you want an inclusive and non discriminatory bar, the garage is a good option.

Had the worst experience here on pride June 25th, 2023 at 1AM. It started pouring rain and i had just exited this place after being there for hours. I ran quickly under the umbrella next to the black bouncer (outside of the barricades, on the street) He CLOSED the umbrella, ran under the covering they had passed the security check and proceeded to LAUGH at me with another bouncer, whilst I was shivering in the rain after the closed the umbrella with me under it and dumped water on me. I have never felt so humiliated, or felt such misogyny as these grown men a foot taller than me laughed at a woman by herself soaked in the rain. I can’t believe someone this awful is employed here, him and the Asian bouncer who laughed at me together. I spent MONEY here getting drinks for myself and my friends and I have never been treated so poorly by any stranger, let alone an employee. He SOAKED me and laughed at me while under a covering. Never again.

Avoid this place! The place is very spacious, they have good music and the drag show is good, however yesterday after the Dua Lipa show I ordered two Negronis for $35 which seemed a bit expensive but still acceptable, then I ordered the same thing again and another bartender from the same bar charged me $56 FOR THE TWO NEGRONIS that half an hour before had cost me $35. When I mentioned that his partner had charged me $35 and not $56, he harassed me and forced me to pay, saying that he couldn't do anything and that I had to pay for that. I did it to avoid problems and I understand that they have to make money on concert days like these but this was really an abuse, they charge you what they want and they change the prices

The best gay bar on Church street to go with the nicest staff. Very "Cheers" environment, friendly staff and great prices. The best entertainment as well!! All the top drag queens perform here!! The Sunday shows are epic and legendary!

Very upsetting I’m giving Woody’s 2 stars as I really enjoyed my time there. My friends and I came to Woody’s on Dec. 20, 2023 for a friends birthday. I was charged twice for 2 shots + 20% tip ($21 for one transaction). I had emailed and called Woody’s many times for weeks asking them to look into the issue. I was continuously being promised from STEVEN to get a response back. It’s now Jan. 30, 2023 and have yet heard back from Steven. Loved the place itself, staff was very nice, drag queens were great—but unfortunately, management lacks very basic customer service skills and professionalism, notably Steven! :) Thanks for the great night, put that extra 20 bucks to good use! 🩷

Very fun and spacious queer club on Church St featuring a pretty diverse crowd and frequent drag shows. They also do RuPaul’s Drag Race screenings. I just wish there was a little bit of room and time for pure dancing, since there are shows from beginning to end. But the queens are amazing!

By far one of my favorite night clubs on Church St! No cover, but drinks are about as expensive as you’d expect. Line to get in moves fast so don’t let it denture you! The only thing I had issue with is that there was no AC or very good air circulation and with all the dancing it got REALLY stuffy.

I went there tonight and had a seat the waiters walked back and forth passed me no one served me so after 15 mins of sitting watching them walk back and forth I just left. I've had some nice times there but tonight wasn't one of them.

Went in there just to use the ATM, but the atmosphere seemed very vibe-y and nice. There is this weird janky indent in the floor that literally everyone almost tripped on. Almost snapped my ankles on this thing going to the ATM, so I think they should atleast make it more noticeable..... or atleast renovate the damn floors. But for regulars... they may already be aware of this indent on the floor. Other than that, it seemed like a fun place to be.

Tourist - place is decent. Drag shows are ehh. Stars are mostly for size of venue, bathrooms and ease of service. Place seems to be ran well, but nothing wowing about this place. Kinda surprised to know this is considered top tier.

Great place to go out to any night of the week for a drink and a dance, you’ll find fun drag performances on some evenings as well. You might have more trouble getting in on a Friday or Saturday, the line tends to get pretty long outside (sometimes snakes around the corner), so show up early - it’ll usually move quickly regardless though. Staff is always great, crowd is diverse - my only con would be that the bathrooms are often in pretty bad condition (specifically the women’s bathroom, you’ll be lucky if you find one stall with a toilette that isn’t clogged).

I love that its the gay hub of the Toronto village, but whoever they hire as a DJ plays the same 10 songs, EVERY night. Maybe its some sort of heritage you guys got going, but this place gets old very fast. I can't imagine coming in here more than once a week. Air ventilation is atrocious on a semi- busy night, invest in some fans. Open stage nights are great. Drink prices are reasonable.

A very colorful bar in the village. Old school atmosphere with photos on the wall. Good layout, can get very packed. Good drag show, crowd is nice and friendly. Drinks are expensive but it's also downtown so can I expect. Overall 8.7/10 would recommend

I love this place it’s a go to I started going with my roommate and since then I’ve been going as much as possible. The drag queens are amazing especially density and lena and so many more I absolutely love them and the bartenders every single time I’ve been there 10+ times and can say it’s legendary even my parents friends know. Come here or you’re missing out.

I’ve been to Woody’s around 4 times and I always have a great time. The decor is cute and the crowd’s usually very lively, with a welcoming atmosphere. My only complaint would be it can sometimes get too hot with all the moving bodies, but I can see that’s hard to prevent at a busy Toronto bar. Getting drinks is also pretty easy most of the time. Great drag shows!

We were at Woodys on Sunday night. We were having a great night until 3 drunk or high guys were dancing in front of the drag performers. They were distracting her. They smashed a glass on the floor and tried to start a fight with someone sitting there minding their own business. Where was the security? I thought it was meant to be a safe space?

Had a great time here on Saturday. Place was very busy but as others have said, it was quick and easy to get drinks. We loved the different vibes throughout depending on the area we were in. Had a great time dancing the night away. Highly recommend if you’re on the fence about going. We felt comfortable the entire time and had a lot of fun!

LOVE Woody's constant drag shows and quality hosts, the drinks aren't expensive and the atmosphere is to die for. Such an inclusive space where the LGBTQ+ community can feel safe and connect with one another. My go to bar in Toronto.

Honestly extremely unimpressed.. I’m from Vancouver, and I was super excited to come to Toronto for the weekend to experience the people, the culture and the club scene. My friend and I did a bunch of research, plus we asked multiple friends what the best gay bar and clubs are… the final decision ended up being Woodys… It was nice that there was no cover charge… BUT that was the only nice thing. It was WAYYY too over crowded, plus the music wasn’t great at all… super electronic for my taste (it felt like it was the exact same beat for the entire night). I was stoked to go to a gay bar for some fun vibes… but every single person there was so extremely aggressive… I was not expecting that coming from Vancouver… but here in Toronto, people were pushing and shoving, and everyone was moving super violently without apologizing when they hit you… which I’m not used to… it was crazy. Vancouver is busy, yes.. but the people in Toronto seem WAYYY more rude… which I wasn’t expecting. Im definitely not going clubbing next time I come back to the city… if I ever decide to come back.

Bartender in the front of sailors on Sunday night with a beard is extremely rude and needs to be trained to serve. he makes it seem like he's above serving your drink and doesn't make it a welcoming environment at all

  • 3/5 Simon S. 1 year ago on Google
In general, it's a good place to enjoy drag shows, music, dance. However, I must say I have had couple of bad experiences with the security guards. Not sure why for some people they give the tickets to get inside again without doing the line and others no. I was asked why I was getting out and was told I had to do the lines again. Not sure if this is classism, racist 🤷🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️

Really spacious bar- probably the go-to if you're going to the village in my opinion. Lot's of bartenders so it's easy to get a drink even on busier nights. Bartender's are also really chummy, really good bunch of guys. I'd like to see Woody's do more themed nights, they've got all this space and I think some more events or earlier shows could maybe drive traffic during the weekdays. It's a great space! Great music, great everything, I just think a wider range of events could give it that extra mph.

Hole in the wall with dollarama decor this place is still in 1970 with 2035 Hong Kong prices for drinks. This place seriously needs remodelling, updating and an update so it’s on the same level as major bars in another cities in 2022. Stale beer : half a time for only 😂10-11$.

One of the funnest bars in Toronto. And Steve is the BEST manager!

  • 3/5 Jay M. 1 year ago on Google
Very disappointed. The drinks were very weak. Definitely watered down barely any alcohol. I like a little buzz to bring the New Year in and it sucked because of the Drinks. The place was packed and the music was great. Next visit I will go next door or to a different bar that hopefully puts alcohol in the drinks.

I'm sure Woody's is amazing on normal days but I came here with my girls on Halloween night (last night) and we were relatively having a good night. We were dancing on the outskirts of the dance floor near an employee who I'm guessing is the security guard (This is RELEVANT information). An hour into dancing it had already been around 1AM and we noticed that there was a guy staring and hovering around us. My friend kept having to pull me closer because he was supposedly behind me. I'd tell them to be careful from behind because the guy was there. I know when people look at others respectfully but this guy had no decency to look away when I would sometimes accidentally look at his general direction. It didn't help that whenever my eyes were open, I'd see lack of dancing on his end. He was sometimes just standing in the crowd (He didn't seem like he was with anyone). I was getting more red flags after another. He would relocate position every now and then and I still have yet to see him in a friend group. At some point I've had enough and he was by the mini stairs steps away from the Security Guard who was sitting on a chair and I just flipped the Creep off (I know I could've handled that situation better but I was intoxicated too and was just trying to have fun with my girls without having eyes on us by a creep). The security guard stood up and was defending the guy. Again I was intoxicated and the place was loud so I was unable to make out most of what the Security Guard said but it was somewhere along the lines of "Anyone can look at you whenever they want". Although not word for word, I was shocked and confused. I explained to the Guard that the guy has been staring at us for an uncomfortable amount of time and hovering us. But the security seemed to dismiss it and went back to his seat. The Creep looked dumbfounded as if he wasn't the one being weird towards us. I left the club not long after that because I just didn't feel safe at all. I understand that creeps like that exist but that Security Guard should've seen everything. We were in his direct eyes view. We were right in front of him. I know there's a lot of people to watch out for. But to my knowledge I didn't even see the guard talk to the creep. I wasn't expecting the guy to get kicked out but a warning or a stern talking to him would've been nice. But the security's tone was just so upsetting to me. This should've been a safe place. Unfortunately, it wasn't to my girls that night.
