As someone who has grown up eating delicious Asian food I'm often unimpressed with New Asian Cuisine. It always just seemed like childhood dishes on smaller plates. This was not the case here. DaiLo completely exceeded my expectations and was possibly one of the best culinary experiences I have ever had. The restaurant is beautiful and the service was impeccable. Was honoured to have the chef bring out one of my courses himself. He and his team have truly killed it with all of these amazingly creative flavours–the tom yum custard, betel leaf wrap, and white chocolate sticky rice were a few of my favourites amongst favourites. Also, who knew tom yum and coconut water could taste so good together? As someone who was dining solo, this was an insane amount of food. It felt like I was at my grandmother's house and she was trying to lovingly stuff me to death, except in this scenario it's fine dining (not that I'm complaining!). Thank you for being the highlight of my Toronto visit, I would give you six stars if I could!

The restaurant clearly prides itself on delivering a full experience. We enjoyed the tasting menu with the wine pairing. The servers take the time to explain each dish and the service was very good. Our favourites were the pumpkin dumplings and the truffle mashed potatoes, but it was all really good. It seemed like most people had the tasting menu. Be prepared to spend 2-3 hours for your meal.

Just incredible. From the second you walk in you know it's going to be excellent. The decor is well thought out, the space is bright, the ambiance is welcoming. When we sat down we knew we had to do the tasting menu. It's incredibly well priced and so worth it. All other tasting menus we have done to date have been one dish per course. Most of the courses came with multiple dishes and each one it's own explosive set of incredible flavours. I did the wine pairing which was so well done. A nice mix of reds and whites each complimenting the set of dishes in their own way. Lots of unique wines too, instead of a standard barrel aged oaky red it was a field red with a blend of 30+ grape varietals that was then chilled. Such a lovely unique experience. All this to say it is worth the price whether you are just celebrating Toronto cuisine, an anniversary or have friends who love good food this is the place to go!

Amazing experience, because of my intolerance to fresh peppers (Any type), which are a staple in their recipes, they accommodated the whole tasting menu (we got the premium one) around it and we were not disappointed. 100% worth every penny for the experience, the presentation, the professionalism and the friendliness of the staff and every single thing was azong in taste, texture and inventiveness! Definitely recommended for any special occasion, an unforgettable experience!

SUCH a wonderful time. Amazing service and a laid back yet elegant atmosphere. Their menu is very interesting but for those who don't want to decide like us, they offer a $95 pp tasting menu that does the work for you! You can even tell them what you want included and not and they'll take care of it for you. We also got two cocktails which were wonderful and unique. The set meal was 11 courses including dessert and so good and so filling. You really get to experience a variety of food and tastes along with a little bit of their story when it's brought to your table. We got to contrast two types of tacos, and two types of dumplings for example, and the fusion choices here worked really well together - like a radish slice as the taco tortilla and truffles with the dumpling were really spectacular. I also loved the noodles and fried watermelon as well as one off the menu item that blew my mind. All in all just a great experience. The food was delicious and spaced out and so filling. I would love to return one day!

It was the first time going to DaiLo with much anticipation as it has been on my list for awhile now. Contrary to my anticipation, the food was unfortunately mediocre. The overall review of the food: it was mentioned to be family style dishes however the food was presented individually per portion and separated out, this is not family style. The portion is most definitely not family style type of dishes, everything was quite small for the price. Most importantly, nothing was “wow” out of the 8 different dishes we tried which is very surprising, to not be impressed with even 1 dish. Even the simplest dishes like Chinese broccoli was bland, and overall everything was pretty bland which was disappointing. I am really unsure how the 5 star reviews that rave about the food came to be.. Judging by the 8 dishes we tried, the consensus was that they are way overpriced. If they were really good, then the price would be understandable but unfortunately this was not the case. Service was great, servers were friendly and helpful with providing recommendations. Atmosphere was nothing special, I couldn’t recall anything particular about the restaurant. It was a good experience as I’ve wanted to visit this restaurant for quite some time now, but sadly I would not go back or recommend to other people as nothing really stood out nor was memorable.

Quite possibly one of the best tasting menus I’ve ever had, and best meals I’ve had. Each dish was unique, flavourful, and masterfully presented. Note this is not a dainty tasting menu, the portions were generous. The cocktails to match were also quite unique and tasty. We got the premium tasting menu and the fish at the end was insanely delicious. Everyone left very happy and full. Would 100% recommend.

Highly highly highly recommend. Ambience was great, our waitresses were so sweet, and food was out of this world. We did a la carte - must-try dishes include the pumpkin dumplings, octopus tacos, and trout. Definitely coming back here. Thank you for a very memorable experience!

2 of us both got the tasting menu which came with about 8 dishes. We really liked that they ask what items off the menu you wanted to be included in the tasting so they could work them in. The best dishes were the dumplings; they were amazing. We would go back but it was extremely expensive so only for a special occasion. The staff were also friendly and made good suggestions.

Best tasting menu I've had. I would give 7/5 if I could. In terms of quality, the food was on par with the best tasting menus I've had. It was perfectly balanced, and lots of umami flavours combined with many other elements. Lots of new things I've never tried but also with recognizable roots and nostalgia. What sets this apart in terms of pure food from other tasting menus I've had is that I've never managed to experience this level of food quality, execution, and creativity at the top notch level with east Asian flavours. This was truly a first for me that I will cherish for a long time. Other than the food, the service was also honestly even better than other places I've been to. The timing on all the dishes was spot on: one dish finished, and in a few minutes the next arrived. Yet, we were never rushed throughout the night, just promptly and carefully attended to. Servers were friendly and the right level of conversational. Highly recommend this place. I'll be coming back. Also, the incorporation of truffle without going overboard with it was amazing.

Made a reservation for this place after learning it had the best tasting menu in the city - we we’re definitely not disappointed! We got the premium tasting menu with the regular wine pairing menu and we 100% think it is worth your money! Starting off with the food: the food was absolutely wonderful. Each dish was so unique and packed with layers of complex flavoured that mixed well together. My personal favourite was definitely the fried watermelon! A super interesting combination done incredibly well: the texture of the fried exterior with the salty meat floss combined with the juicy and sweet refreshing watermelon was truly amazing. Each dish was delicately paired with different wines, all of which I enjoyed thoroughly. I definitely recommend getting the premium taste menu over the regular one. For just $20 more you can get more samples from the kitchen + a bigger dish at the very end (in our case it was the fish!) For the service, it was absolutely amazing as well. Each server took the time to explain the origin of ingredients, the flavour profiles of the dish, and how to eat it! All the servers were so sweet and attentive which made the whole experience so much better. Overall, this place is definitely worth the hype and I was thoroughly full and satisfied after this. Amazing place to try at least once!

Went here a while back, but I still remember the incredible experience, and the delicious tasting menu. So many incredible dishes and interesting flavour combinations, and every one a hit! The “tacos” were actually the most surprising and interesting dish, and I would’ve wanted more had I not already had so much more food on the way. Highly recommend, and hope I have the chance to visit again one day.

Tasting menu is fantastic. Pricey, but unique enough to be worth at least one trip. The deep fried watermelon, pumpkin dumplings, and deep fried whole fish are particular standouts. Only miss was the first course, a squash in agedashi stock. Squash was a bit too hard and the flavours were too standard. Everything else though, ranged from very good to fantastic.

An amazing and one of a kind experience at DailLo. Always recommend doing the chef’s choice option as it never disappoints! Our server was a delight to talk to and enjoyed every bit of discussions we had with her! One of my favourite restaurants to visit while in Toronto.

We had the premium tasting menu sitting at the bar. Unexpectedly, the bartender knew every single thing about the food we were having, even though he was not the one serving it to us. The wine pairing alongside the tasting menu was incredible, and Ben paired cocktails from their diverse cocktail menu perfectly to each course for me on the fly. Hands down, one of the best dining experiences I have ever had. Thank to you to the chef, bar manager, FOH, and everyone involved.

So, I get that this place is fusion and I think it's good, but would I come again? Probably not. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't bad at all. But the flavours were really familiar to me (I'm Chinese) and little additions to the food just weren't worth the price. Our party of four opted to go for the chef's menu, which comes to about $65 for 6 dishes or something like that. Most of them were pretty unique, but again, there wasn't anything that really amazed me, nor am I really convinced they I need to spend that much for this type of food.

Big mac baos are to die for!! Me and my girlfriend come here at least a couple times a year and the quality has always been great. We always try to get everything on the menu and any new chef specials that we haven’t tried before. If you are looking for something else that’s not on the menu try the chefs choice where each dish will be unique.

The food was not up to the mark especially for the price. The Beetal leaf was extremely bitter from the filling inside. The truffle was invisible in the dish in terms of flavour, too many components, the peas over powered the whole main. Maybe the chef had a vision, that the cook simply couldn’t execute as rest of the dishes lacked the delicious factor. But for almost 200 for two, you gotta do way better especially when restaurants like cafe boulud charge less and can deliver more. Not happy! Not a returning customer, unless they really re-fire those meals right. In covid you gotta do better, if we are coming to support your business.

We went to Dailo on a Thursday evening in September. I cannot describe in words how disappointed we were. A picture speaks a thousand words. What you are seeing is their 45 day dry aged ribeye with plenty of uncooked fat.

During this pandemic, Dai Lo offers patio seating. The seating is spaced out well and all the staffs are wearing masks. The entrance has sensored hand sanitizers accessible for everyone. We ordered 45 Day Dry Aged Rib Eye (12oz) that includes bok choy, soy pickled mushroom, black bean bagna cauda and wanted another dish to go with it. Our waitress suggest we order Truffle Fried Rice black that consists truffle, egg, carrots, edamame, xo sauce to go with our rib eye. Both dishes are exceptionally savoury. The black bean bagna cauda had a tangy and sour taste that compliments the rib eye. Bok coy and soy pickled mushrooms was a perfect refreshing taste to munch on with the rib eye. The truffle fried rice has a lot of great texture, with its extra crunch and softness from the vegetables, and surprisingly goes extremely well with truffle and xo sauce. I am very satisfied and this exceeded my expectations. I would recommend these two dishes.

Great ambiance, perfect for a date or just wanting to have a good dinner and a good time. We really enjoyed chatting with our server on recommendations, state of the menu and the restaurant, and just generally how things went. I highly recommend the Tom Yum cocktail for a slightly refreshing tom yum taste. Their chef’s selection menu is also catered depending on your preferences and what you’ve previously enjoyed at the restaurant - so very personalized. Each course was interesting in its own right, with our favourites being the octopus and pork wraps, pea dumplings, and oxtail rice. The tables are socially distanced and is just generally a pleasant place to be!

A meal at DaiLo feels like an absolute feast. For 95 dollars we tried an extensive tasting menu which featured several Chinese fusion dishes exploding with different flavors and textures. The surprising deep fried watermelon was one of our favorites, as well as the courses towards the end including the truffle ravioli and the fish with fried rice. Drinks were amazing too - I’ll never forget the unique tom yum flavored gin cocktail.

Celebrated a birthday at Dailo on the 23rd of October. We ordered the tasting menu to get a sense of what this place has to offer and we’re glad we did. These guys push creativity in a big way so you’re really not having a meal. You’re on an exciting gastronomic adventure. Each course was exceptional, the atmosphere and vibe, cool and relaxed. One day f the first things that impressed me about this place. And incredibly warm greeting and welcome. It’s like you’re hanging out in a trusted friend’s living room about to have a great meal. We will definitely go back. Such a great combination of exceptional food, service and ambience.

Let me take you on a journey through the extraordinary dining experience I recently had at Dai Lo restaurant in Toronto on a magical Friday night with cherished friends. From the moment we stepped foot inside, we were swept away by an enchanting atmosphere that set the stage for an unforgettable evening. Upon our arrival, we were graciously guided to our seats upstairs, where we discovered a haven of tranquility amidst the bustling city. It was around 7:30pm, and the restaurant was not too busy, allowing us to revel in the perfect balance of liveliness and serenity. We were able to comfortably engage in conversations, enjoying the company of friends without feeling overwhelmed by noise or crowds. The moment we set our eyes on the decor, we were captivated. The ambiance was nothing short of fabulous, with a harmonious blend of modern sophistication and artistic flair. Each corner of the restaurant was thoughtfully adorned, with meticulous attention to detail. From the mesmerizing light fixtures to the captivating artwork that adorned the walls, it was a true feast for the eyes. Every element of the design seemed purposefully chosen, creating a space that was not only visually stunning but also incredibly photogenic, inviting us to capture and preserve our cherished memories. As we settled into our seats, we were greeted by the warm and attentive staff, who embodied the true spirit of hospitality. From the moment they approached our table, they embraced us as if we were long-lost friends, instantly making us feel at home. Their genuine care and attentiveness elevated the entire dining experience, leaving an indelible mark on our hearts. It was as if we had stepped into a world where strangers became friends, and their impeccable service only added to the overall allure of Dai Lo. The menu presented us with an enticing dilemma—the temptation of the tantalizing tasting menu. However, having succumbed to the delightful offerings from the à la carte selection, we found ourselves satiated but also eagerly anticipating our next visit, where we would embark on the captivating journey offered by the tasting menu. The anticipation only added to the excitement and left us with a delightful reason to return in the near future. Our culinary adventure began with the dumplings, a delicate and flavorful treat that transported us to culinary bliss with each bite. The perfectly balanced combination of textures and the harmonious blend of savory fillings delighted our taste buds, leaving us longing for more. Next came the lobster noodles, a symphony of exquisite flavors. The succulent, tender lobster mingled with the expertly cooked noodles, creating a divine dance of taste and texture that left us in awe. And how could I forget the fried rice, a seemingly simple dish elevated to new heights by the skilled hands in the kitchen. The fragrant aroma and the medley of flavors, punctuated by subtle nuances, ensured that each mouthful was an experience to be savored. To complement our culinary journey, we indulged in a bottle of wine that was artfully paired with our meal. The server's expertise shone through as we enjoyed the seamless harmony between the flavors of our dishes and the subtle notes of the wine. It elevated our dining experience, providing the perfect accompaniment to the exquisite flavors and enhancing the overall pleasure of the evening. As we reluctantly bid farewell to the enchanting ambiance of Dai Lo, we couldn't help but reflect on the amazing experience we had just savored. It was an evening that surpassed our expectations in every way—a harmonious symphony of remarkable decor, heartfelt service, and unforgettable flavors. The longing to return and fully indulge in the tantalizing tasting menu has already begun to grow within us. Dai Lo has left an indelible mark on our culinary journey, and we eagerly anticipate our next visit, where we will embrace the opportunity to explore the depths of their menu.

Attended as a trio - each of us got the tasting menu at $108/person. Everything was exceptional! My favorite dining experience I've had thus far due to a combination of superb service. Our waitress was extremely kind/talkative about each dish - the plating was exceptional - and I tip my hat to Chef Nick Liu and Chef Dennis Jay for creating one of the most creative tasting menu's in the city! Dishes of note: Tom Yum Custard, Smoked Trout Pomelo Betel Leaf, Whole Fried Giggie Trout, and the star of the evening - 𝗗𝘂𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗲𝗿𝗲!

We eagerly tried DaiLo, the food was presented well but disappointing in taste. Dishes were individual, not family-style, most had a fishy taste with small portions for the price. None of the dishes in the tasting menu, including simple ones like Chinese broccoli and dumplings impressed. I'm puzzled by high ratings given our mediocre experience. Service was excellent, atmosphere was okay. I wouldn't recommend.

Had to think about this before posting and settled with a 4/5. Service was exceptional. We had the prem tasting menu and definitely did not leave hungry. Very smart combinations of cheap ingredients into flavorbombs. Ie Sunchoke super elevated to taste amazing. Noodle soup with 90 day rib etc. Personal opinion - 1 star was taken away because of the repeated flavours and ingredients in the at least 2 of the dishes and non resturant made component's that were integrated into the dishes. Ie the chinese donut stick and the eggroll. Also for the use of truffle to elevate simple dishes like mashed potato, that one didn't sit right with me. It smelled great but flavor wise, nothing. Atmosphere was great. Decently spaced tables. Service was fantastic, except any cocktail or draft beer will entail a nice waiting time. Dishes came out as we finished the previous, and we did not feel rushed. They were able to advise on each dish and the components. Some misc notables; Tom yum custard, very smart combo Sunchoke dumplings = amazing, never had such a combination before, this level of creativity was fantastic Koi soy noodles looks impressive, although noodles were homemade it was not fresh (dried). Very salty, thank you for not flavouring the rib that much because it would had definitely been too much. Fried rice star was just the XO sauce, rice itself was nothing out of the norm. Neutral, but offended by the use of truffle when the soy sauce was so dominant. Roasted duck- really smart and great flavor! Dessert- aloe sake, very smart and freshing combo. Eggroll did not do much for it except for the colour breakup of the plate. I would reccomend to try the tasting menu once to be immersed for a decent spread of the resturants offerings. Overall some very smart dishes and combinations

Unique cocktail drinks. I find the menu a bit on the expensive side. Prepare to spend 30+ and more for drinks and food. Definitely worth a try. And highly recommend for romantic date nights. Had my first date here, unluckily for me, the guy told me to “ look at this part of the menu not the bottom “ - I wouldn’t mind spending money for quality dishes like in this place if I came here by myself to spend some self-care me time. I unfortunately end up still hungry after he ordered just a dumpling for us to share. Moral of the story, don’t date cheap guys and it’s definitely a red flag 🚩 if HE picks a place yet control what you can and cannot eat on the menu! Anyways I’d definitely come back here for another first date with a new guy if ever. Love the atmosphere and drinks 🍹

Overall great experience. We had the premium chef’s choice and the food was pretty good. Service was one of the best I’ve had. They were attentive, friendly and accommodating. As someone growing up eating Chinese food, it was very interesting to see how flavours and traditional dishes could be elevated. There were some outstanding dishes and some that were a little too familiar. If you like strong flavours you’ll have a good time. One star off as I found it to be a little expensive for the environment and food. Chefs choices are a different and unique to each table, pulled from the main menu (premium chefs choice has some off menu dishes). If there’s anything you really want to try mention it to the waiter.

Went here for the lunar year tasting menu. 10 courses + 2 deserts. Servers are very attentive and ask for any dietary restrictions/meal preferences in case you want to replace a dish. I replaced the Hakka wonton since I don't like shrimp that much. For the actual tasting menu, it started off to a great start. The first half of the dishes I felt were delicious and would give a 10/10, the 2nd half though I felt a decline. They reused the truffle sauce 3 times with the oyster&pearls, pumpkin dumplings, and lobster longevity noodles. Originally I loved the sauce but by the 3rd dish I wanted to try something new. My replacement dish for the Hakka wonton was a big mac bau. Very unique. Very fluffy, only thing is it taste exactly like a big mac haha very unique to try but the taste I've had before. Gf had the Hakka dumplings and felt they were a bit on the salty side. Dessert was good with the aloe vera ice cream + fortune cake. The atmosphere is a bit more relaxed than I was expecting. We were sat downstairs at the high tables where the decor isnt great, and the chairs aren't the most comfortable. When we were done we checked out the upstairs which had a much better environment. Request upstairs if you're doing the tasting - the high table chairs down stairs will hurt your butt if you sit there for a 2hour+ tasting. Overall it was a good but not great experience, would give it 4.3/5. 10+ courses often will cost closer to 200/p, but this came in at $113/p + tax/tip so it was a great price. Would definitely recommend this place, but there is room for improvement.

The service here is excellent and second only to the food. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful in recommending dishes. The food is definitely the star though! The flavours are asian but the cooking techniques are a bit more refined. We started with the betel leaf. It was very flavourful and a nice palette cleanser. The green pea dumplings were very fresh in flavour with a hint of truffle (not overpowering which is nice). The wrapper texture was also great. The octopus tacos was a nice surprise because even with the pork belly, the crispy octopus was still front and center. For me, the best dish was the beef carpaccio! The flavours were out of this world. Every bite had a slightly different mix of flavours and crispy bits so every bite was unique and I could never out my finger on the flavour either, although it was familiar. We finished off with the lamb neck. Don't be intimidated by it, it is very flavourful and easy to eat. It is like a shank on size and also in the fact that it just falls off the bone (mostly). The sauce on it is excellent as well and went great with the rice.

My fiancé and I have been coming to Dai Lo for over 2 years, as it holds a special place in our relationship as we always come here to celebrate milestones. We know that the ingredients are nothing less than decadent and sublime. Especially in the carpaccio, pea dumplings, octopus wontons and 45 day aged ribeye. We thought we would leave a review (although we usually don't do reviews for restaurants) because we wanted to let everyone know that Dai Lo always delivers a fantastic culinary experience. Shout out to our waitress Eden who has made us feel welcome and has tended to our needs so professionally.

Food: tasty! We ordered the sweet n sour pork hoc , which was soft and easy to eat. Im not a fan of eating fat, but this I thoroughly enjoyed. We also had the deep fried trout and octopus tacos. Both very good. The desserts however, I found too sweet. We had the date cake and chocolate chomparado. recommend

Absolutely incredible meal. Start to finish, food, service and presentation was fantastic. Whoever is the manager of this place not only have you done incredible job, but Jeff deserves a huge raise. Jeff was easily the best, most knowledgeable, and friendly server ever. 5 stars are not enough for this place.

Food was amazingly delicious and innovative. We had the fried watermelon, truffle fried rice and Burmese tofu. Hands down the fried watermelon was our fav and is a must try. The service there was spectacular, everyone was so kind and attentive. With covid going on too, they're using what looks like a hand held UV light device to sanitize all the chairs and tables. Very cool. We can't wait to come back and try other items in the menu.

Highly recommended reservations for this place. We had a 6pm reservation and the next party, wasn't coming until 830, which gave us plenty of time to talk and enjoy the food. Food: tasty! We ordered the sweet n sour pork hoc , which was soft and easy to eat. Im not a fan of eating fat, but this I thoroughly enjoyed.

Ordered food through door dash. We were really excited about the selection and trying this place for the first time. My dasher was at the Resturant for 20 min before the restaurant cancelled the order. I attempted to talk with someone at the restaurant, they put me I hold for ten min, and then I couldn’t get through. Finally after talking with someone no apology or attempt to right the situation. I will never order food from here

The above were my favorite dishes that we tried but along with those, we also had the pork wontons and the brussel sprouts. I am a HUGE brussel sprout fan and loved this dish but found it quite interesting to be topped with shrimp floss and smoked trout. Definitely make a reservation here if you go! We got here at 5:30pm right when they opened and seats were already limited.

Food is so unique and modern. The waiters and waitresses were all very good. I liked the atmosphere. The first time I went in 2016, the food was disappointing but the second time in 2019 blew me away.

Let me start by saying... WOW! This was a great experience with great food and great service thanks to Geoffrey. Geoffrey was very helpful by explaining the menu and provided detailed descriptions which left us drooling! We ordered pretty much everything he recommended and everything was delicious! What I really appreciated was the time he took to show us some of the smaller ingredients used and explained how they were prep for the dish. I would definitely recommend DaiLo and I will be coming back to try the rest of the food!

This is one of the absolute best restaurants in Toronto. I think I've been back 5 times now. The pumpkin dumplings are UNBELIEVABLE. The cocktails are pricy but totally worth it. The waiters are very knowledgeable about the food they serve and the chef can alter the menu to fit all sorts of dietary restrictions.

If I could give it a 4.5, I would. I really enjoy eating here! The service was good, the setting was awesome and the food was amazing! We had the fried watermelon, that was my favorite. I wasn’t too sure about it at first but it was AMAZING! I definitely would love to go again. Everyone should give it a chance and you’ll find out how good the food can be!

Just an astounding experience. My partner and I went for a rare evening out and it was exceptional on every level. We opted for the tasting menu ($68per person). Each course was either a chefs choice amuse bouche or a customer favorite off the main menu. All were fantastic. Standouts were the potato dumplings ( elevated to a whole new level) and the big Mac Bao (a combination I would never have expected) . Service was exemplary and friendly without ever feeling forced or scripted. Definitely worth a night out but without breaking the bank for a great bespoke experience. Can't wait to find the time to return again.

Amazing food, great atmosphere, even better servers (especially Thomas). Didn’t know what to expect at first but went with the chefs choice menu and I was blown away. Lots of chinese, Japanese, and Korean influence with a hint of French. The 90day rib eye was the star of the show but the fried watermelon was a close second for me. They are super accommodating so let them know if you have a specific protein preference and they’ll make it happen. Our water was constantly filled and we never had to ask for it to be topped up even when it got busy. I’m planning on coming here as a regular, damn this place was just spectacular.

It was a big raining day yesterday and we had a reservation for the patio. After 2 weeks of waiting we were finally there. The waiter was very friendly and attentive brought us comfy blankets and romantic candle to make sure we were not going to feel cold being outside patio. It's a good start of the night. I ordered Taiwan oolong tea to start the meal and I have to say that was the best oolong tea I have ever had. We asked for the testing menu so we could get variety of the food choices. There were 5 courses included in the testing menu and we loved every one of them. The highlight of the testing menu for me were green pea dumplings and oxtail main course. Those two courses were so chinese that I couldn't believe how creative ability the chief's had to bring such authentic dishes to a different level. I was very impressed and pleased so now I know everyone can have dumplings for dinner! Amazing twist and make total cents to me. There is no worlds speak louder than pictures. So here we go:

Great atomosphere and service. This was a unique fusion of Cantonese and French cusine. We got the tasting menu to try a variety of their dishes and would highly recommend it. They offered both on and seasonal off menu items so your dishes can change everytime you visit. Let them know if there's any dish that you definitely want to try and they'll incorporate it into your meal. Our favorite dishes were the fried trout and the off menu scallop dish. Fried watermelon was an interesting experience and we would recommend trying it.

    - ordered the fried watermelon, truffle fried rice, sweet & sour pork hock, burmese tofu, and fried chicken wings - everything we ordered was so flavourful and unique! (other than truffle fried rice which i would probably skip) - great service, they replaced our dishes/cutlery midway and presented each item in detail

  • 5/5 Alexander H. 2 years ago on Google
The tasting menu was great. I was really full at the end. One thing to note is that the flavours did come off to me as rather familiar. It wasn’t a groundbreaking tasting menu with revolutionary new flavours. However, the value they offer and the wide range of items the chef chooses for the tasting menu is great. They can even accommodate if you have specific preferences. I recommend!

We did the Chef's Course and it was a delightful experience. Each time the next dish was brought out, the utensils and plates were changed as well. When each dish was brought, the waiter/waitress would describe what it is and what's it's made of. The dishes were unique and flavourful. Favourite dishes were the tofu dish, the cheese/jam dish, octopus taco and pumpkin ravioli topped off with truffles.

This place was simply elite. I went with a friend and we both got the taster's menu and we couldn't have been happier. Many items on it were a 10, especially the pumpkin dumplings - some of the best food I've ever had. Overall we really enjoyed our time and we felt very satiated and satisfied by the meal. I highly recommend this one.

Beyoooooond amazing. Easily one of the most delicious places to eat at in Toronto. We did the tasting menu and it was phenomenal. Our server made sure we got to try a few of the top dishes we had in mind. The pumpkin dumplings, the shrimp/pork dim sum, and rib-eye… DELICIOUS!!! Can’t wait to go back and try all the other items on the menu we didn’t get to try the first time around! Definitely perfect for a date night or to celebrate a special milestone.

It felt like we were visiting a destination far far away dim lighting, warm vibes, subtle music, noises from other diners enjoying their food/cocktails. Humans out for a night on the town. We had the chefs tasting menu, it was tasty, unexpected, and timing of dishes was perfectly orchestrated. The dishes were creative and well seasoned. Definitely worth the visit to check this out. I would be remiss to not mention checking out their cocktail menu “Ancient Chinese Medicine” is a concoction you need to taste - deliciousness completed again :) Wait staff were also quite friendly and attentive. Dinner for 2 with 2 cocktails ran us at $275.49 including a good tip.

Tasting menu was great. Really enjoyed the deep fried watermelon, white rabbit glazed dumplings, wontons, and the Braised beef gnocchi (it was their special of the day). Cocktails were okay but not memorable. We had the jitterbug perfume (I’d recommend this). The old fashioned had too much ice and was watered down. The Tom Yum was too sweet.

  • 5/5 Angie H. 2 years ago on Google
We had the tasting menu and it was superb! We also left with a full stomach. I don’t eat meat and my boyfriend has quite a few allergies and they were so accommodating. Definitely one of the best Asian restaurants I’ve ever been to. Service and staff were immaculate as well!

  • 5/5 Sabrina C. 1 year ago on Google
There is a reason why this restaurant makes all the lists when you search "best restaurants in Toronto." Did the tasting menu with wine pairings. Every dish is beautiful and delicious. Also, at first you might think the portions are small but the food just kept coming. I thought they were going to have to roll me outta there as I pass out from a food coma! We pretty much tried everything on the menu and each bite had something to rave about. The wine pairings were fresh and just felt like summer. Do not skip the cocktail list. I had the Tom Yum cocktail which was one of the best cocktails I've had all year. I would go back just for that drink.

What a gem of a place! Each menu item has its own character and tastes fabulous! Here’s what we ordered: bbq pork belly skewers, beef carpaccio, Hakka brown wontons, dumpling pissalidière, Big Mac bao (secret menu item) and soft shell crab as main (special of the day). The pork belly skewers was the most tender pork meat I have ever eaten! The dumplings had the most delicate burst of flavours, the carpaccio was flavourful and well balanced with accompaniments, the wontons were outstanding and the Big Mac Bao is a winner in combining flavours of the Big Mac bundled in a bao. The soft shell crab was probably my least fav but its possible that I am basing my opinion on my dislike for fried food. It was however, a generous portion and presentation was top notch! We were seated in the lounge section and I throughly enjoyed the service by Connor. Pleasant, friendly and courteous, his service was nothing short of exceptional. Each item is brought out by chefs who have likely specialized in making them. Its a whole experience to have them bring it out and explain the components of the dish. It is fine dining at its best without the unnecessary air of boujie. Cant believe I waited so long to eat at this magnificent joint!

I don’t even know where to begin! We had the BEST experience at DaiLo last night. Four of us did the tasting menu, which was delicious from start to finish. Our favourites were the fried watermelon, the Hakka brown wontons, the dumplings pissaladiere with truffle, the phaux beef carpaccio, and the octopus tacos. Every cocktail we tried was delicious as well. But the absolute best part of the night was the incredible service from the entire team - Leah, Hannah, and especially our server Emily who went above and beyond! She was extremely attentive, knowledgeable, fun and even brought out a special dessert at the end. The dessert was delicious and it was such a great added touch to the phenomenal service. Will definitely be returning and will be telling everyone I know to come here!!

Amazing place, service and food. First of all the service was so friendly/helpful with the meal, making it more memorable. All the food items we ordered were delicious - we especially loved the dumpling and lobster noodles; we decided to do a half-size fried rice (server recommended this) and it was the perfect portion. Would go back to try other dishes!

Our experience at DaiLo was exceptional and left a lasting impression! We opted for the à la carte menu, and were mind blown by the unique combination flavors and textures in each dish, which were both pleasantly familiar and innovative. The fried octopus and red-braised pork belly tacos were exceptionally delicious, despite octopus not being a dish that I typically enjoy. The beef carpaccio and sticky-rice stuffed chicken wing tinola were equally as impressive! The personal touch of having the chefs present the dishes themselves was a pleasant surprise for us. The service was impeccable, further elevating the overall experience.

You need to try this place!!! We went on a Thursday no reservation for party of 2 and they sat us so quickly. If you have more then 2 I would say make a reservation. The staff are so experienced and caring, they take the time to explain everything. Jeff was lovely and so helpful. He asked probing questions and adjusted the menu items to accommodate for us. The carpaccio was phenomenal, dumplings were amazing, betel leaf was so fresh and so flavourful. I rarely leave reviews but I can’t wait to be back

Heard a lot of great things about DaiLo through some friends and popped up as I received a giftcard for. The service is fantastic, shout out to Olivia, our server for making our first time so great. We coursed our meal, was offered variation in portion sizes and prices, had our order out one after another which had us looking forward to each new plate. We had the fried watermelon which surprised us in all the best ways. Pork and shrimp wantons, Singapore curry cauliflower with the very tender chicken cooked sous vide and two sauces along with jasmine rice. It is on the expensive side but our experience showed us why; service is very attentive to your needs or wants, presentation is very nice but you can't just mention presentation without the quality backing it up and it did just that.

Despite getting stung by a rouge wasp inside the dining room pretty much 5 minures in, I much enjoyed the experience. Staff was pleasent and offered ice to calm the sting. I had a great meal with my partner for our 12th year anniversary. The food was fantastic, we opted for the basic tasting menu which had about 10 courses with 2-4 small dishes each and ordered a cocktail and beer to go with our meal. We also got an extra dish and glass of wine pairing as an anniversary bonus. I'd recommend 100% the food and will come again. Was very busy eating so I forgot to take pictures of every meal. Can't wait to be back again.

Loved the vibe of the restaurant and the staff were so friendly and knowledgeable. The fried watermelon was a delicious appetizer that I was pleasantly surprised by! So much flavour and crunchy texture :) unfortunately the scallop ceviche was really disappointing as the portion was 6 very thin slices of scallop only (probably one scallop worth of seafood on the dish) for $24 seems steep. Had a fun time overall but on the fence as a repeat customer.

Such a well thought out concept and wonderfully executed. It’s elevated Asian fusion. I love this place. All the cocktails are amazing. The food is great - well seasoned and you can tell that someone put a lot of thought into creating each dish. The octopus tacos, fried watermelon and big mac Baos - all yummmmm. While the hainnese chicken is nice, I think I would have enjoyed the duck more so I’ll be back for that. Didn’t love the mango tiramisu we got for dessert (tasted like biscuits in mango lassi) but I can see other people liking it. Wish I’d ordered the brown sugar dessert instead so yeah in short, I’ll be back lol

Visited dailo for the first time after I heard good things from a friend. I tried the tasting menu they offered which was a 5-course menu. The first few courses were very tasty and unique - we really enjoyed the tom yum pudding, pomelo betel leaf, and crispy octopus taco. Also highly recommend the tom yum cocktail! The dumpling course was also great and enjoyable. The final course was where we were disappointed - included the fried trout and choy dish. The choy was great but the fried trout was difficult to eat. We didn't feel satisfied at the end of our meal and didn't find that it was worth the tasting menu price. However, we would come again to try different menu items as I feel like the last course was a miss. Service was good, and the environment is very nice! I would give this spot a 3.5/5.

One of the best tasting menu I’ve ever had! Everything from octopus taco, smoked duck breast, wonton with truffle, and crispy pork skewer are all on impressive. Their famous fried watermelon is interesting, not the best tho. For someone who cant handle the strong flavour of lamb like me, I would recommend lamb here because they made it super delicious and helped get rid of the smell. Overall worth the hype and worth a try!

Tried the basic tasting menu and it was very well done. Each of the pieces was brought out, described to us, and had unique twists on classic flavors - either with the ingredients used or the way they were presented. Pretty solid value as well, as the tasting menu is $100 each and offers a lot from the a la carte menu, and they even let you request certain mains if you would prefer (we wanted to try the steak and fried rice, so we requested those) Favourites were the octopus tacos - crispy, not super chewy, with a very flavorful aioli and a unique taco shell - and the truffle fries rice - their xo sauce is perfect. Also very tasty were the spicy custard and the wontons. Personally I liked the use of the pickled melon rinds and pork floss in the fried watermelon, but at the end of the day it still mostly tasted like warm watermelon. Least favourite (although still quite tasty) was the scallops, just because they were a tad cold. The wasabi peas were an amazing addition to this dish though.

This is one of my favourite restaurants. I visited in 2021 and 2 years today later the quality of the food is still the same which means they make sure they are consistent with keeping their food at a high level. We did the tasting menu and my partner eats meat however I am vegetarian. Normally doing a tasting menu for a vegetarian isn’t always worth it but here at Dai Lo it was probably the best dinner I have had in Toronto. It was a 5 course meal which honestly felt like 7-8 courses since we were stuffed by the end of it. We had dishes with the best truffle I have tasted in years. Our server Hugo was amazing, paid attention to detail and our requests he created the best tasting menu for us. This is an amazing restaurant, with really great service. You don’t see good service at restaurants these days but at Dai Lo you can expect it to be outstanding. 10/10 you need to come visit. They can accommodate a wide range of dietary needs.

The tasting menu is an amazing experience. Highly recommend it. They customized all my courses in line with the many restrictions i have. And they managed to keep diversity going for my pallets. The veggie rendition of the big mac bun was amazing. I also enjoyed the mushroom consommé - my favorite course other than dessert. The smoked trout beetle leaf was fun. The fried watermelon was surprising. The root vegetable taco with cauliflower was ingenious, so flavorful. Pumpkin dumplings were good. Hainese chicken could have used some pizzazz. The keffir lime sorbet was just perfect. I would likely go back for it.
