Tasty hidden gem! Great drinks, amazing dishes. Very good sized portions, so you can enjoy the menu from appetizer to dessert, and they are all worth it. Loved the intimate, yet lively atmosphere. Very good, fast service as well. Just make a reservation in advance, as tables as limited. When they are fully booked, they accept walk-ins at the bar as well. We appreciated the drinks on the house and coat service as well. Will be back.

The atmosphere at this restaurant is perfect. The decor is relaxing and cozy. The service and food were absolutely amazing. Ordered the green salad and scallops to start which were good and the portions were just right for an app. The Duck breast was tender and flavorful. The steak was cooked to perfection. Although the sugar donuts were warm and delicious, I wish the dipping sauce was a bit more thick like a chocolate syrup.

What an amazing dining experience! Our waiter Tommy was super helpful at offering recommendations that did not disappoint one bit. The ambiance is wonderful and the food choices were all amazing (minus the scallop Duo which was not quite what we were expecting). Would definitely go back to try out the new amazing menu options and to see how the restaurant has changed their interior decorations.

One of the best places to eat in Toronto! The restaurant design is gorgeous and the food was so tasty. Great Chef 👍🏻 David was absolutely professional, Daniela and Robin were absolutely great, we were treated like royalty. I highly recommend the beet salad, pumpkin ravioli and mini donuts. We decided to celebrate our rehearsal dinner in this restaurant.

Came here for a holiday party, and was so happy with the professionalism of the service, the food, the drinks, the environment and the overall atmosphere of the evening. I will definitely be back in my own to dine again and enjoy their delicious cocktails!

I love it when a restaurant exceeds our expectations! I need to go back and order what my husband had which was the rack of wild boar. I couldn’t get over how delicious it was. I wanted to steal his meal. I thoroughly enjoyed my duck cooked to perfection and we shared the elk tartare. It was all scrumptious and the restaurant is soooo so pretty. 10/10l

We had a nice lunch here. We ordered dry aged steak n tuna. They were in great portion. The potato wedges were crispy but were a bit dry. The service was professional and it could be nicer if there was more friendliness.

This restaurant seems to pride itself on its service but I received the opposite treatment today. I was in charge of booking a team lunch and made a reservation two hours before lunch on OpenTable. Not even 20 mins later, the plan changed and I made sure to cancel the reservation. I still received a call at lunch time asking where I was to which I clarified that I had cancelled an hour earlier. The person that called me then proceeded to threaten to blacklist me for canceling last minute and then hung up before I could explain what happened. Extremely rude and for no reason!

Not often you find a place that excels in so many different types of food (from burgers, to homemade pastas etc) Owner is super friendly and has a cute dog :)

Amazing place tucked in a quiet street. Delicious burger with homemade bun, homemade pasta, and risotto. Everything I've ordered so far has been great. I would highly recommend Wood's to anyone looking for good food and can't wait to eat in when this pandemic is over.

What at first we thought was a beautiful hidden gem turned out to be an awful experience. Food delicious - atmosphere - totally awesome. Service, never have I experienced such disrespect and blatant ignorance from restaurant staff. To note we were a group of 11. When we received our bills and members from our party we're discussing the 9$ sparkling water- in which she didn't even asked for she specifically asked for tap water - the waiter became frustrated and THREW his receipt to my colleague. Absolutely disgusting behavior. The waiter then refused to split our bills. To throw a receipt at a customer and stomp off like a toddler is unacceptable and I do hope the manager reads this and provides adequate training to their staff. What a sour taste left in our mouths. Never again will we visit this restaurant.

The Elk. That alone is worth a visit. Eat it slowly my friends, savour every bite. The tortellini paired with it are stuffed with a delicious surprise as well that makes this the showstopper at Woods. Subtracting a star for the service, which could not get the appetizer order correct and openly squabbled. Great homemade bread and butter; enough to pique your palette but not for you up. Would also love to know more about the food, such as where it was sourced or hunted, especially for woodsy things like rabbit and elk. Not the animal's life story, but a bit of info to contextualize. Check it out people!

The only reason why I rate it at 2 stars and not in one is because the service was not bad. Who ever cooks for this place should consider change in his career... Food is terrible!!! If uour taste buds are normal avoid this place...

    1. Food 2. Experience/Service 3. Wow Factor is was makes a great restaurant and this place is great at all 3. I can’t say enough good things about the food and service and the one thing that makes this place unique is that it’s “Canadian Cuisine”. There are tons of different cultures is Toronto and you can find any kind of food you want but it’s not common to find high end Canadian Food. When people are visiting from the states this is my favourite place to bring them to experience Canada.

It's very rare that I give a restaurant 5 stars in all 3 categories, but Wood's definitely deserves it. The food was delicious and good value for money. The atmosphere was wonderful with great decor and just the right amount of buzz without being too noisy. With that said, the restaurant truly stands out because of the service. Our waiter and the supporting staff were the very definition of great service. Friendly, efficient and overall a joy to interact with. The management of Wood's deserves kudos for fostering such a great environment.

Great food with a particularly strong ambiance. The elk tartare was unique and featured larger chunks of meat than a traditional French tartare, giving it a tangy stronger taste (not to mention the elk). The boar burger was very flavourful. Great spot for a rustic and gamey experience.

Nice atmosphere, live piano being played. Food was slow to come out as we waited quite a while before being given our mains after the appetizers. The duck confit was quite deliciously cooked and tender - the meat just fell off the bone. The elk ragu was quite strong in flavour (gamey). The seared tuna was mild in flavour but nicely presented. Lastly, the steak was overcooked and served cold. We requested for it to be sent back to the kitchen for a second try and the waiter was very helpful and accommodating. All in all, not sure we would return.

Exceptional dining experience. I visited Woods restaurant with my mother and husband during our holiday in Toronto 2 November 2023. We are from London, UK and are used to dining at a variety of excellent restaurants. I believe Woods restaurant is one of the best dining experiences I have experienced! The ambiance of the restaurant was made by the very talented piano 🎹 player who played a variety of songs all through the night. The service was impeccable, the waiters brought the food at the same time, cleared the plates as soon as we had finished, etc. They were very knowledgeable and polite. The food was also fabulous. We had scallops, Elk, wild boar, duck. All the ingredients were very fresh and presented so thoughtfully. Yes it was more expensive than an average meal but you get what you pay for. I am happy to pay more for a special occasion and a wonderful evening.

We went to this restaurant on a Friday night and started out with cocktails in the bar while we waited for a table. The cocktails were very good. After we were seated we quickly placed an order because we had tickets to the Raptors game later that evening. Even though the restaurant was mostly empty at this point, we found ourselves waiting for well over an hour. I understand that this is a fine dining establishment but when I gently mentioned we were on a schedule to the waiter, he seemed to become somewhat upset. It is true that by this time the restaurant was filling up quickly. Overall the food was excellent and we had a great time.

I was a member of a group of 7 that ate at Woods for dinner. We had a reservation for 7:30, were seated promptly, and the wait staff was very nice and gracious. The atmosphere was wonderful and the live pianist was great to listen to, however we did take a few issues to our experience as a whole. The wait time was a bit long for our entrees. Our starters had arrived within 15min of ordering, but our entrees took much longer. We ended up waiting around 90min before the entrees were all served. Granted everyone's orders were served all at once, but we felt the wait to be too long without any communication from our servers. The food itself was great, but due to the timing of all the food coming out, we found one of the dishes to be room temperature and not hot as we expected. This was disappointing. Overall it was a good experience though.

Beautiful intiment setting. Very romantic, and the service was outstanding!! Thank you Derrick for your amazing service. We had the Elk and Boar, and would highly recommend these dishes, so flavourful, and tender. Great job chef!

We were at Woods last night before a show at Meridian Hall, and from the moment we walked in it was A++! They asked if we had a show, kept track of time, such a nice touch. The food was outstanding, really enjoyed the Elk Ragu. The atmosphere and ambience were wonderful. Will definitely be back! Thank you!!

The food was very good. I had the pumpkins ravioli and they were delicious. Other positive point, we went with our 5 years old and when asked if they could do pasta with butter or cheese they accepted. It was delicious and my son was very please. We paid less than $10 for this which is very reasonable. However what is driving a 3⭐️ rating is the customer service. We spent almost 3 hours in the restaurant for a main and a dessert. The server was nowhere to be found most of the time and he did not have a friendly attitude. We asked if the coke were free refill, were told yes and then had the surprise of seeing 4 cokes total in our check (for 2 people). When we did tell them, they did take all the cokes off the check though. I recommend for the good food but that is it.

Woods is a fabulous place along Colborne St near the King Edward Hotel. We're all beginning to nervously step out again. The atmosphere at Woods is gentle and comforting with a quiet understated elegance that warms you. The service and food merit the reviews given to date - both extraordinary. If you need a gentle re-entry, this is a wonderful spot to make your first foray back to public dining!

Update: we ordered the burgers to go during lockdown, which were exceptional. We were now able to dine in which was even better! The menu had so many excellent options, if I could eat more I might have ordered one of each... We had the scallops and I ordered the pumpkin ravioli. Everything was made in house and it was honestly one of the best meals I've had. I cannot wait to go back and see what changes come to the menu as the seasons change! Original review: The whole meal was amazing. Everything from the buns to the sauces were made in house!

I had such a great experience at this restaurant. The food was delicious and the servers made us feel so welcome and were so happy to chat about the food and restaurant in general. I got the duck which was so delicious and I also got to try the elk ragu which was amazing. I highly highly recommend the kale as a side, even the people in my family who don’t usually like kale really loved it! Overall such a perfect dinner, I will definitely be going back!

Our company hosted a team holiday dinner at Woods and had a fantastic time! Everyone there was friendly and made us feel so welcome. The food was delicious and the space is beautiful. This was our first in person gathering since the pandemic began and the team at Woods really made an extra special event for us. Highly recommend!

i had a dinner here with my girl friends. Granted they were busy, but the waiters were loud, snarky and did not bother to cover their noses with the masks when they spoke to us. Food was so so, underwhelming and presentation was not that good as well. The bread was bland and too burnt. 2 of my friends ordered custom drinks and the drinks came out flavourless and quite disappointing. One of the water glasses was not cleaned properly and even smelt fishy. The washrooms downstairs were dirty and definitely should be cleaned more regularly for restaurants of this kind. It's the whole experience!

Might be the best dining experience I’ve had. Service was fantastic and the food was incredible. I had the seared elk and my wife had the seared tuna…both were amazing. Atmosphere is on point..we loved the exposed beams. Definitely worth checking out this place, you won’t be disappointed

  • 2/5 Aeriel B. 2 years ago on Google
We found the overall experience to be incredibly underwhelming. While attentive, our server was snarky, brought dirty flatware, and didn't ask how we'd like our proteins cooked. The seared elk was wonderful, but incredibly rare. To add insult to ~$300 pre-tip injury, when given the option of still or sparking water, our server, without asking, brought us still bottled water to the tune of $9. We saw other tables being served tap water, so it seems like a glaring omission that we weren't given the option, nor told about the extortionate cost. Unfortunately, while the food was great and we'd love to return, we just cannot justify these prices for Jack Astor's-level service.

Had an absolutely fabulous experience here last night with a large group. The food was amazing, the quality of wine and cocktails was impressive and the only better thing I can say is that the service was exemplary. Will 100% return. Highly recommend.

Great atmosphere, menu and staff! We had the charcuterie, elk tartare, oysters, elk ragu, and wild boar meal. The wild boar was a little dry and should have had more sauce, but the other dishes were delicious. Elk tartare was amazing - flavour was delicious and the homemade chips served were lightly seasoned and the perfect pairing. Our waiter was fantastic - he was so friendly, hilarious and they gave us complimentary dessert (homemade cinnamon donuts with chocolate sauce!). Would definitely come back!

BEST EXPERIENCE EVER!! These are the nicest people I have ever met along with the most amazing food I’ve ever tasted!! Couldn’t get enough!! This place is one of the best places to eat in Toronto. The food is so good and so unique, the portion sizes are quite big for a fancier restaurant - like we had 2 1 app (charcuterie), and 2 mains and had to take leftovers. The dessert was the only thing I did not really like here, it tasted like the generic donuts from CNE which is very “Canada” but not worth the effort. Also drinks are really good here.

  • 5/5 Sebby C. 1 year ago on Google
Easily the best dining experience in Toronto. I came here once and it instantly became my favourite restaurant. There is truthfully not a thing on the menu I would not recommend. The elk dish will transform your evening, but it is not without a star-studded supporting cast. From the cocktail menu to the strawberry shortcake dessert, you truly can not go wrong.

  • 5/5 Sean H. 1 year ago on Google
Everything here was spectacular. Firstly, the service was amazing, with attentive and personable waitstaff. Cocktails were great, the elk tartate was delicious, and the wild boar chops were cooked go perfection. Definitely save room for dessert, as the house made donut holes were out of this world.

I have to say that the atmosphere was awesome here. Such a beautiful interior. I was hoping for unique delicious food, but unfortunately it was a disappointment. It tasted bland. Service was good, but it took too long for the food to come. Will not come again.

  • 4/5 Hannah R. 1 year ago on Google
4.0/5 Their signature dish, the Seared Ontario Elk was certainly worth the visit. The elk was cooked to perfection and the sides that consisted of tortellini, oyster mushrooms, berry sauce and parsnip purée were such a great combination of flavours. Wow. The appetizers we ordered (the beef carpaccio and elk tartare) were underwhelming. They seemed to lack salt and flavour in general… I would not order these again. The server was pleasant, although she kept referring to each of us as “my dear” which I didn’t find too tasteful. The live music was lovely, but the trumpet player was much too loud. We had to pause our conversation whenever he came into the main dining area. Overall, a good experience! I would return for the Seared Elk as I found that quite unique.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Woods Restaurant and Bar, a fine dining establishment that exceeded all of my expectations. From the moment I walked in, I was impressed with the elegant ambiance of the restaurant. The interior design was well thought out and created a warm and inviting atmosphere. The owner, Mr. Robin, greeted my friend and me with a warm smile and made us feel right at home. He provided excellent service throughout our meal, ensuring that we were always comfortable and had everything we needed. One of the highlights of Woods Restaurant and Bar is their extensive list of wines. As a wine lover, I was thrilled to see such a wide variety of high-quality options. I found the perfect bottle to pair with our meal and was thoroughly impressed with the sommelier's knowledge and recommendations.( David and Dennis) And the food, oh the food! The dishes were beautifully presented and tasted just as amazing as they looked. The ingredients were fresh and of the highest quality, and the flavors were perfectly balanced. My taste buds were truly tantalized with every bite. Aside from the delicious food, the restaurant was immaculate. The cleanliness of the establishment was evident, and it added to the overall experience. Overall, I highly recommend Woods Restaurant and Bar. The combination of excellent service, a stunning ambiance, an exceptional wine list, and outstanding food make it a standout fine dining destination.

My fiance and I had an absolutely wonderful time here. The food was presented and tasted great. The service was very attentive and quick to clear plates, take orders, exc.. . They gave us great breakdowns of the items and food came out in a timely manner. Cocktails were very well done. Would recommend the espresso martini, it goes great with the woods s'mores (modern unique presentation) The interior is magical and warm, classy vibes perfect for a little weekend date. Live music was played and set a relaxing mood for dinner. Exactly what we wanted from a farm to table experience!

My wife and I went here for our anniversary and loved it. The food was terrific with balanced portions that don't leave you feeling like you overdid it after a starter, main and dessert. The service was very attentive and friendly without feeling intrusive. And it was nice to not feel rushed. The atmosphere was really lovely with live piano and just the right lighting for ambiance. The feels like a real hidden gem in Toronto. We will definitely be recommending this restaurant to others, and look forward to returning ourselves.

For the amount we paid we were pretty disappointed with the food. The vibe and decorations however were great. The food portions were small. The scallop appetizer was 29$ and only came with two small medallions. They also ran out of the watermelon salad which we were hoping to try. I had the lamb, which came out cold and didn't have much flavour. My partner's meal came out cold as well. The ragu looked good. It was unfortunate because we were really looking forward to this experience. The best part was probably the fried doughnuts and the service.

Incredible experience at Woods! Definitely going back. The staff were all very attentive - very quick to clear plates, reset cutlery, and fill water glasses. Robin, the owner, is pure class, very friendly but also can read the room. Great place for a date nice. There was a nice place to put our coats at the entrance and the server helped me put on my coat at the end of the night. Food was delightful - I had the duck breast, and it was taste bud heaven. The deconstructed smore for dessert is also a must try, the golden marshmallow painted at the bottom of the plate is to die for

Dinner for two came to just over $200. We ordered the watermelon salad and scallops to share and for mains had the elk and sea bass. For the price, my expectations were quite high and unfortunately this did not meet them. Food and portions were acceptable.

I cannot imagine a more embarrassing performance for a restaurant that puts on a self-proclaimed "above average dining experience", as stated on their website. This place underdelivered in every possible way. I attended with a large group (between 20-25 people) for a private dining experience - half the group arrived at 8 pm while the second half arrived at 815 pm, which was set up as a surprise. Unfortunately, the only surprise that evening was the shock and awe by every person in the group when they found out our main courses would be brought out at 10:46 pm. Only Michael Douglas in the movie Falling Down was more disappointed in the service provided by this restaurant. The embarrassing performance was only amplified when I spoke to the manager of the restaurant following the meal - he initially agreed it was not normal to have the main course of a meal brought out over 2.5 hours later, he then back tracked and told me it was not unusual for their restaurant. When he asked what he could do to make up for the disappointment, I simply requested to have the bill brought out to me ASAP... they couldn't even do that right, I had to go back and request it again after waiting close to 20 minutes. If you're looking to be underwhelmed, this is the place to be. Food was average at best, portions were acceptable for a children's menu, and service was non-existent. The manager at this place doesn't have a clue and obviously didn't find their performance as embarrassing as everyone in our party did. If you make the mistake to come to this place, definitely bring your wallet, but leave your appetite at home.

Absolutely delightful evening, flavour packed food, attentive and friendly waiter service. The piano player added to the atmosphere of a restaurant I couldn't fault. Sure it's a little bit more expensive than the average restaurant but you get what you pay for. In terms of the quality of food and how you're looked after it's a lock in for 5 stars

I had dinner here with my mom tonight and it was easily the best restaurant experience I've had in several years, if not ever. We were served by James, who was courteous, friendly, knowledgeable, and humorous. I don't want to bombard all of you with a detailed explanation of our meals. All that needs to be said is that the food and drinks were beyond delicious. And, just as importantly, this kitchen focuses on local and sustainably-sourced ingredients. This includes the land-based proteins, which come from an Ontario-based co-op of small farms called Ontario Harvest Farms - I learned this by asking James, who was eager to answer my questions and speak to the chef to get reliable answers. I could not possibly give this restaurant any more praise. This will be my number one recommendation to anyone looking for a beautiful dining evening in Toronto for a while to come.

What a fantastic restaurant. Really special place, from ambience to service. My colleague found this gem last minute. Everything was great! Had a nice table in the front of the restaurant near the bar. Our waiter was incredibly knowledgeable, decisive when we couldn't be and so bubbly / fun. Food and wine selection was delicious. Thank you for such a great experience! Hope to make it back again in future.

Service: 5 - My girlfriend and I were taken care of from start to finish from the moment we stepped in the door. Our server was professional and had great interpersonal skills to keep the night fun and effortless. Food: 4 - We has the Valentine’s Day 5 course preset meal. (Look at photos for food we ate!) highly recommend trying their seared scallops if you get a chance! The wild boar tasted much like a thicker pork chop and was slightly dry towards the middle. Alcohol: 5 - They have a large selection of wine to choose from to satisfy most wine lovers needs. Atmosphere: 5 - Dimly lit, small, intimate dining area. Perfect for dates, anniversary celebrations, casual dinner arrangements.

This is a comfortable and classy restaurant with delicious Canadian-inspired ingredients and dishes. The beef carpaccio is different, it’s made with cured beef, so it’s a bit saltier than you’d expect. The halibut ceviche was out of this world. There’s just a touch of smoked olive oil in there that makes it comforting and addictive. The elk was served with a delicious purée, some tortellini pockets of gooey love and the flavor balanced with savoury mushrooms and sweet/tart berries- just what you need with a lean game meat. My wife’s halibut and risotto was equally fantastic. The wine list is varied as the dessert menu is also inspired by Canadian preferences (I.e. house-made doughnuts In chocolate sauce reminiscent of slightly overcooked beaver tail). The service was proactive, friendly and patient with all our preferences and allergies. Great ambiance and a beautiful historic building. I will recommend this place to friends and we will be back!

Impeccable service! Visited here in January for my birthday dinner and had a wonderful time. The food was great and the menu options were unlike any other restaurant but what really made the dining experience memorable was the service. It’s a shame that I don’t remember my waiter’s name anymore as it’s been a few months now but he was so pleasant, welcoming, and definitely made us feel comfortable despite being a lot younger than the restaurant’s usual demographic. The complimentary gnocchi served between appetizer and main dish was so delicious that it should be available to order as a main entree as well!

The burger popup is great food, and they have more than burgers. Also ensure you get the mini donuts!

Classic places with excellent services and food. Pricy but worth it. Nice environment, good music choice as it is not loud.

We had a great dinner with friends visiting for a conference. The meal was excellent from the foie gras and the oysters through to the smoked elk. The elk was spectacular with a terrific sauce. The servers were very friendly and attentive. Overall and excellent experience

They ruined our evening... we were waiting for the food for about an hour. And when we asked for bread they just took it from the shelf in front of us and told us that they forgot to bring it. There were 10 of us and everyone agreed that the taste of the food was 🤢 Then they gave us a dish that we didn’t order and charged us for it. The dessert was frozen and even the waitress was ashamed because of this. So, to save you time please don’t go there. We would have appreciated the review like this before we went there.

Excellent food. Outstanding service. Our server, David, was knowledgeable and personable. Thank you, Woods, for helping us celebrate my lovely wife's birthday. We will be back!

The best restaurant in the St Lawrence neighborhood and definitely in my top 5 in Toronto. Ambience: Warm, woody (pun intended) and intentionally rustic. Food you have to order: Squash Ravioli (An amazing vegetarian dish that is as good if not better than all the meat dishes) Cold smoked Ontario Elk Tartare

Bar tender was superb, knows his wine and drinks. Excellent host and perfect front man for the restaurant. Had the elk, scallops and charcuterie, will be back to taste the chefs other creations.

Food was amazing and the service is really worth your tip. Their cocktails are one of the best I’ve had. Maybe just be prepared to wait a little longer for your food, we waited for around an hour as the place was full. Watch out for the washrooms downstairs - there was a leak in the ceiling and my girlfriend got hit. For such a high-priced place, I’d expect a little more, ouch!

Great food. Had the Capre burger with hand cut fries which both were delicious. Service at the restaurant was great - easy pick up. Definitely the best gourmet burger in the neighborhood.

Had a lovely experience at this restaurant yesterday with a few of my friends. The restaurant was beautifully decorated and the food was great! The star of the evening was our waiter, Michael - what an amazing character! So kind and attentive, thank you so much for making our evening so special!

Beautiful atmosphere and great food and amazing service. You really couldn't ask for more in a restaurant. We had no problem getting a reservation for Friday night. We had the elk tartare with foie chips which was fresh and well balanced; boar chop - so perfectly executed; and squash ravioli - hand made, beautiful flavors, perfect for fall. Great wine list as well with great local wines. The atmosphere is intimate and easy to carry on a conversation but still lively and fun. By far, the best aspect of this restaurant is the staff - courteous, did not rush us (in fact, encouraged us to enjoy our meal), spot-on recommendations for food and drinks and fun in the area, and attentive without being intrusive. JAMES IS OUR HERO. TDLR; Go here for a fantastic dining experience.

First time visitor today for a business lunch. I ordered the beef burger which was incredible. The meat just melted in my mouth and had an amazing flavour. Fries (potato wedges) were tasty too. My only issue with this was that it was not as big as I had hoped ;-). My colleague had ravioli which also looked tasty! All washed down with a couple of their Woods lagers which were refreshing. Service also very good and attentive. All in all a very nice restaurant in a great area of Toronto and a definite visit again!

We had an amazing experience at Woods!! First time visit and we will definitely be coming back. We all loved our dishes (I had the scallops and elk - highly recommend) and the server, James, was incredibly knowledgeable, attentive, and friendly. New favourite Toronto restaurant!

We had dinner here on a Saturday + reservations were essential as there were no empty tables. The decor is reminiscent of the outdoors -- rustic but classy -- the menu leans to game but with other options. We had the steak and the chicken -- the latter apparently a staple on the menu since the restaurant opened -- it was delicious as was the steak. The service is impeccable with several servers attending to the able so nothing s missed. The ambiance lighting is lovely and there is no background music so conversations easily had. Prices are in line with similar "higher end" restaurants in Toronto. There was no downside -- would recommend.

Wow, what a meal. I had the charcuterie tray and the seared elk. The elk was cooked to perfection. Great cocktail list too. Had the Canadian manhattan. Finished it off with the s’mores. The only negative is that I don’t live in Toronto! Was visiting from the US. Can not recommend enough.

Came here with large group. The wait staff are attentive and friendly. I had the scallops, the steak, and a cheese dessert platter. The food is good but the only really great thing I had was the steak. The portions are also pretty small which made the experience underwhelming.

Dinner was great....the halibut was yummy and had scallop appetizer. Restaurant was super busy ...but service was very attentive. Great ambience. Tables were spaced nicely for more intimate dining

The ambiance, service and presentation of the food were fantastic but the flavours of the dishes did not live up to expectations given on aesthetics. Based on the costs of the meal and purely on the tastes of the food, I would say this is not a good value proposition.

The Woods was awesome. We went during winter holidays so it was quite empty - normally this place is packed! Lucky us because we get to enjoy our food with less crowd. Always recommend folks to eat at popular restaurants during holidays. Woods has private rooms in the basement - great if you're hosting a get together. The tartare was delicious. The foie gras was small so it wasn't a good idea to share that between 4 people. I recommend 1 per 2 ppl to the very least!

We dined with James tonight while celebrating my husband’s birthday and had the most delicious meal! If you aren’t looking for the address, you could miss the door but this is definitely not a restaurant to be missed! We don’t often frequent the same restaurant twice with so many choices in the city but we will definitely be back! The butternut squash ravioli made this meat eater so happy that I’m already ready to go back! My husband loved his steak and his parents loved the duck! We had the carpaccio, ceviche, and beet salad as well and enjoyed every bite! I’m not one to overly praise when not deserved but this was truly a great dining experience from the moment we walked in the door to the moment we left.
