They shouldn't remove the fat from the bone since is so tasty, but I guess that's what they do in fancy restaurants, anyway it was raw inside so we had to wait again another 30 minutes, the vegetables had zero salt or sauce... The onion soup wasn't impressive. At least they gave us a dessert on the house because of the raw lamb chops, that was actually the best dish.

This has been my go-to place for high-quality lunch and dinner in Yorkville for more than a decade. The food looks very simple and ordinary, yet the quality is really superb. Especially, the French onion soup (Soupe à l’oignon gratinée) is pleasantly cheesy and extraordinarily delicious. The entrecote looks very simple, but is exceptionally nice, too. Omelettes are pretty decent as well. I am not a dessert person, but I always end my meal here with a piece of lemon tart no matter how full I am. The staff are very attentive and courteous. The restaurant is very quiet and cozy, although the tables are a bit clustered in tight space.

This was truly a great experience. I wish I had taken photos of the food, but believe me when I tell you that it was fantastic. We shared the daily soup (carrot and ginger), which was rich and filling. We then shared the bistro salad (apples, greens, walnuts), which was fresh and light. And, for our main, we shared a ham, cheese and mushroom omelette...because everything was so good, we finished the meal off with a lovely dessert (ile flottante). The service ranked among the top five that I've ever experienced. Ever. The staff were all so friendly and accommodating. The atmosphere will make you feel like you're dining in France. I can't wait to go back.

As soon as you walk in, you have just been transported from downtown Toronto to France. Staff are knowledgeable and friendly. Food taste amazing and I love how neatly they line up the vegetables on your plate. We had mussels to start and what a start that was. Fresh, citrusy, savoury, makes you want to consume every last drop of the sauce, which you are encouraged to (your friendly waiter/waitress will keep bringing over bread, they understand). My salmon was amazing and cooked to perfection. Superb job to these guys!

Wow! This experience was absolutely amazing. The staff here were super friendly and helpful. I ate here three meals in a row and thoroughly enjoyed all of them. The lamb chops here were honestly the best thing I ever ate. If you are ever in Toronto, then definently go here.

Jacques Bistro is without a doubt our favorite place to enjoy a meal. The food is excellent and the service is beyond approach! We always tend to gravitate back to this place whenever we feel like a night out. The atmosphere is excellent everyone is treated the same, very friendly and they always make you feel relaxed. Never rushed.

The experience here was by far one the best dining experiences I had. Not only was the food incredible ( the best French onion soup! And the muscles are so filling and delicious! ), the portions were large and the service was excellent, attentive and friendly from the moment you open the door to the moment they wave you goodbye by holding the door open for you. On top of all this it was one of the few times my wife and I received the same service as everyone else, no side glances or being rushed out the door and no purposeful lack of service because we are a female couple. This is by far a favourite of ours now and will be a regular spot. The combination of old school service and old world French cuisine is a most try!!

I went to Jacque's Bistro with another couple this past Saturday night.. The wait staff were friendly but the woman is was the owner or manager...not so much .. First, when we asked to keep our coats, she mentioned at least 3 times that she wouldn't be responsible if they dropped wine, soup or gravy on them. We had arrived about 5 minutes late and our guests about 15 minutes late. They didn't take our orders for about another 20 minutes, which was fine because we weren't in a hurry. The food also arrived slow as well and by the time we had ordered our deserts and coffee, we had been there about 2 hours 15 minutes... This same manager/owner came to our table 5 minutes after ordering our deserts/coffee and informed us that her next guests had been waiting for almost half an hour and therefore, we had to leave. Imagine, fine dining at $150/couple and they have you on the clock for a total dining time of 2 hours. The lamb was gamy (tasted like liver)... The onion soup was tasty (4/5).. definitely not remarkable... The omlette was tasty but a bit salty... The rest of the food decent... Maybe a 3 1/2 overall... Definitely cannot recommend Jacque's... Way too much high maintenance...

Best French restaurant in the city, nothing pretentious about this place despite being in the middle of Yorkville. This is family owned, from France. Interior is like a local bistro somehwere on the side streets of Paris. Food is absolutely divine and service is SO friendly. Truly a hidden gem.

My husband and I had an amazing evening at Jacques. We both had the escargots to start which were delicious (with warm baguette to get all the sauce). Our mains, the filet mignon and the veal were very tender and full of wonderful flavour. Service was impeccable and the atmosphere was very cosy and romantic . On our way out had a great conversation with the owner, lovely lady who made us feel so welcome. Best dinner out that we’ve had in a long time. We will definitely be going back!
