Cafe Polonez was such a great experience with delicious Polish food! It seemed very local to the community and it was a friendly environment which was nice. The platter was such a good option for our table because we got to try so many different types of dishes and portions were definitely hefty as well. This will be the go to place for Polish food going forward for sure!

First time trying Polish food. It was an amazing experience, l will definitely go back. The colours on plates are good. Taste of the food was delicious. We also had beef stew which was the star of our dinner. Tried 2 Polish beers both were good light beers. It gets so busy after 6 pm so if you are planning to go late dinner make a reservation.

I've been here a few times for dinner and each and every time it is a great experience. The staff are friendly and fast while the food is excellent, you can really taste the quality. I've had the duck which is succulent and definitely worth a try. The schnitzel's are perfectly breaded, with the perfect ratio of meat to breading. My first and only time eating fresh pierogies is here and wow, they are amazing, definitely worth getting for yourself or the table.

Dined into this cute little restaurant and I loveddddd it! Amazing Polish cuisine. The pirogies were the best I have had so far in the city! Every dish I had was filled with flavour and I enjoyed every bite 🤩 The restaurant was nice and clean, and the servers were so sweet and welcoming. No bad energy here! Thank you so much!!!

Café Polonez is a staple family run, Polish restaurant that’s been around for ages. - Chlodnik ($8.95) - had a taste and the cold borscht was fantastic. Our Polish friend said it reminded him of his grandma’s cooking. - Flaczki ($7.95) - tripe was incredibly tender and the broth was pure bliss. - Platter for 1 ($24.95) - the boiled pierogis were heavenly, bigos super flavourful, schnitzel a generous portion (nicely breaded, pounded thin) and the beet & cabbage helped balance things out. - Cabbage roll ($4.95) - we opted for the pork. Decent but standard fare. - Pulpety ($20.95) - the 6 chicken balls were massive, tender and the sauce really dilly. Would return in a heartbeat. Great portions, delicious Polish comfort food. 4.5 stars.

I was here today first time, but not last! I really enjoyed it. It's good for everyone who want to taste Polish traditional dishes. Portions are really good. I ordered Polish white borscht 'żurek'and cabbage rolls and I'm full. I'll be back here for sure! 😃

Pierogi almost as good as babcha’s. Bigos, best I’ve had anywhere. Considered by many the best polish restaurant in Toronto and often cracks peoples top 20 overall in the city. It’s a lot of food, and it looks like the “platter for one” is the local favourite.

It was awesome! The dishes are huge, and I made a mistake when I ordered dozen of pierogi along with back ribs since their size was certainly underestimated! Pavlova is also a masterpiece - so tender, with tasty creme and crusty part, that luckily is not so big as I have seen in other pastries of such kind. It is my second time visiting this polish style cafe, and I will return over and over again!

I stumbled onto this very famous establishment and loved the authentic food. We ordered the platter for one, a cabbage roll on the side and some polish beers. The servings were generous and great value, but service slow. Pierogis comes in 6 flavours and are outstanding. Schnitzel and sausage are honorable mentions, followed by the cabbage roll. Well done, Cafe Polonez on clearly keeping high standards since opening their doors in 1981.

I absolutely love this place! Delicious food and massive portions. Staff were very nice and accommodating. We got the platter for 2 and I love the variety that we had in that platter. Cabbage rolls were flavourful, schnitzel was crisp, perogies were so good and I enjoyed every side. Would surely come back.

Bright and spacious spot for Eastern European dishes. Tried the Hungarian Style Pancake for brunch and quite enjoyed it. The pork goulash in it was especially good and tender. Quantity-wise, it was also very filling. Would recommend if you are in the neighborhood.

Really cozy and family friendly spot. Definitely gives a warm atmosphere and is very welcoming. Perfect for a family meal or cute date. We got 1) the platter for one with sauerkraut and mushroom pierogies and pork schnitzel with mushroom and an extra mushroom cabbage roll, 2) the Hungarian style potato pancakes which were so flavourful and rich, 3) pork spread as an appetizer, and 4) the pawlowa for dessert. A fantastic and very filling meal 😅. My fiancé and I definitely enjoyed ourselves and struggled to finish it all! I had some leftovers of my pancake for lunch later in the week :) Staff were friendly and clearly a close knit bunch.

Amazing food! Me and a friend ate the Platter for two and the Hungarian Pancake (pork goulash inside a potato pancake). So much food!! We couldn’t stop eating it was incredible. Best Polish food I’ve ever had, hands down. The Polish beers that the server recommended were good as well.

This has to be the best polish restaurant/ cafe in all of Toronto. I do good reviews I would love to review it in person on camera and post it on YouTube some time if they'll allow me. God I miss the pierogi already and the staff are so sweet.

The paprikash is to die for. Literally, I would kill for this recipe. Orders are always right. Hot and cold separate. Oh, the salads. You needs the salads. All the salads. The soups...if you like soups. . . . . . Everybody likes soups.

Platter for 2 ($62) was very worth it, you get a taste of a lot of different items and it's very filling! It includes 2 cabbage rolls, 6 pierogis (you can choose up to 2 different fillings!), 2 Polonez Schnitzel and 3 different types of salad. I'd recommend giving the Cheddar & Potato pierogies a try! The Schnitzel was delicious and nicely breaded. Meat was tender, moist and enjoyable! There's a lot of Polish beer options to choose from which was really interesting. Ended up with my server's recommendation and got the Tyskie which is a pale lager. 🍻

My favourite restaurant for authentic Polish food. When I come here I feel like I am back home in Poland! The service is very friendly and the food is exceptional. I have been here many times and each time the food exceeds my expectation. The chicken schnitzel with potato dumplings and the the potato pancakes with goulash are my absolutely favourite dishes. Highly recommend!

Very trendy and popular, recommend reservations. While we were there Saturday at 6pm it was already full, the reserved table we had saved us. People coming to see if something was available as if it was the only eatery on Roncesvalles. Would recommend the goulash, all the generous pieces of meat were tender and the sauce perfectly seasoned. Would have given 5 stars but for 2 disappointments. The first was because the restaurant is a victim of its own success. The noise level was so high I couldn't hear our server. Which was the second disappointment, she obviously wanted to be somewhere else, never asked about our meal, had to be asked to refill our glasses when they were obviously low and had to be called over when she had avoided eye contact. If you do go, ask for Jessica(?), she was much better with the guests and was clearly on the ball. Finally, didn't see a dessert menu, had to ask out reluctant server for the verbal menu a couple of times with the background din, asked again for the prices of the items. Maybe they want to go paperless, get a blackboard then? Despise the few downsides it's worth a try and I'm going back to give them another try.

It was an okay experience. I love pierogies and hence tried that. Pierogies were good but the soup was a bit cold so that's something can be looked at. It was the first-time that I tried that soup and taste wise it was delicious. The patio is on the street.

After 43 years in business Cafe Polonez has perfected many things. Certainly worth the wait if you walk up. Pierogi, Sausages, Schnitzel and many other classics. Star of the show was the potato pancakes and affordable price point… something missing in the city these days. 5 stars because the food is outstanding.

Was here a couple times and always had a pleasant experience. Great service and amazing food, if your Babcia used to make you a good ole chicken cutlet dinner and you miss the flavor- this is a place to visit. On the picture depicted Hungarian style potato pancake, which was absolutely delicious 😋

Was absolutely amazing, only got pictures of the apple pie and beet soup with meat dumplings but we also ordered the paprikash and potato and onion pierogies and a latte! Everything was ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS!!! still thinking of that beet soup....... Cannot wait to go back! The apple pie was also very yummy! They have pierogies that have fruit in them(?) So I will definitely try that out next time hehe Was a very cute spot, decor was nice and the general vibe was somewhere you'd go with your family on a Monday night!

Lovely staff and amazing polish food! As a vegan, I appreciated their rice and mushroom filled cabbage rolls with tomato sauce, the assorted salads (beet, carrot, sauerkraut), pickles, and potatoes with dill! Delicious, flavourful and filling portions - worth every dollar! My Tato and I love it here.

Authentically POLISH. Outstanding food all made in-house. Legendary institution on Roncesvalles, go with an appetite. So many classic European dishes (delicious schnitzel, cabbage rolls, Borscht, and pierogi, etc) to explore and enjoy. SERVICE is always exceptional, polite and courteous. Great for groups, dates, or solo. No Reservations usually. Consistently great after decades and thousands served. Way to GO!!

I'm never in the Roncesvalles area until I started working at @podstarz_net and they recommended if I'm in the west end I should try Cafe Polonez. Fun neighborhood, The food was stunning, some of the best perogies I've ever had and a huge selection of cabbage rolls, tried 2 and they were both amazing and came with great sides. Coming back, I gotta thank @Podstarzteam for the heads up, and cafe polonez!!! Amazing experience

One of the few places that do Polish food and Cafe Polonez does it very well. Huge portions for the price and it's all great tasting. Highly recommended!

This meal was so satisfying. We were able to get a walk-in table on a Friday night but I would suggest making a reservation for larger parties. We ordered the vegan perogies and vegetarian cabbage roll. The perogies are soft, fresh, and taste homemade. The vegetarian cabbage roll was the highlight of the meal. It was smothered in mushroom cream sauce which went excellent with the perogies and the wild rice filling in the cabbage roll was so flavourful. It came with three side salads and I substituted the potatoes for potato pancakes. The portions were generous for the price. I will definitely be back for more and to try the stew.

Very good Zurek, if you would like to have any, this is the right place for it. Very kind staff, clean place, good menu. Not very far from High Park, so you can have a lunch there after stroll with kids. We didn’t have a reservation, but there was no problem with a table for us.

Everything was absolutely stellar. From the staff, to the food and service. The two young ladies were quick and prompt to serve, answered questions in a knowledgeable manner and were on the ball. Give them a raise! Tell mama cooking in the back that the food was beyond exceptional, one bit of beneficial criticism I'd add is, give the borscht a touch of fresh lemon juice and watch the magic happen. Even though the food was already spectacular. The gentleman, I believe maybe manager on duty, was kind, attentive and cheerful as well. Whoever reads this, if the owner, give them all a little raise, or some sort of boost. You have a solid team! I will definitely be back and be back often. Budmo!

Make sure to ask waiter regarding the meat in the dish as kids menu didn’t inform that burger was with pork meat. And we mentioned twice when we ordered main dishes that we do not want pork. And after ordering kids burger and getting it we realised that it was pork, ask waitress and she confirmed it, but didn’t tried to help us. We paid full price for that but our kid ate only French fries ($13 for small portion of French fries)!!! And in the bill there was additional drink included, the one that we didn’t order. So please make sure you pay attention to your bill and always ask about ingredients in the meal. Didn’t like this experience and won’t come back.

First time trying Polish food, and it was really pleasant! Price was very decent, quietly surprised when we saw the bill. A bit push to get to a 5 star, in my opinion, would be to have some music played in the background.

  • 5/5 Naethren M. 9 months ago on Google
This was my first time trying polish food at a restaurant despite living in a polish neighborhood most of my life (though I admit having pierogi's a couple times). We got the platter for 2, and it was certainly more than enough for 2-3 people. The food was good, especially the schnitzel and perogies. The area was a bit noisy and hard to have a conversation though I'm a bit sensitive with my hearing. I did spend a bit over budget including tips and taxes it came out to $80. Still can't complain about the experience!

  • 5/5 Jan P. 9 months ago on Google
Possibly the best eastern european restaurant in town over-all. You are not overwhelmed by ethnic accents making dining familiar and pleasant experience. The only complaint is that it is always full near capacity making your table selection impossible. If you like tasty and hearty eastern european dishes - you will not be disappointed.

  • 5/5 Lisa B. 3 years ago on Google
One of my fave restaurants on Roncy for in-person dining (when it's back) but also for take out. Authentic and delicious Polish food (when it's open for dining there are always older Polish people eating there -- a good sign). It's takeout menu is also fantastic. The pierogies are to-die-for as is the potato pancake wrap with Hungarian goulash. AMAZING. If you are looking for an authentic dining experience, this is it. Roncesvalles at it sbest.

  • 4/5 Daniel A. 3 years ago on Google
I'm a big fan of Cafe Polonez. They serve up Polish goods that are a welcome departure from my usual eats - typically Italian and Middle Eastern food. My favourites are the schnitzel (beautifully and lightly fried to perfection) and potato pancakes with goulash (guaranteed to be unlike any other pancake you've had!) The one thing that might turn some people off is that this food is really heavy and greasy. Opting for the fresher sides (e.g., their great Polish salads) is a good way to balance out the grease.

I came with a friend for lunch on a weekday, loved it! Great service by our waitress and another staff member, they were very sweet. I felt very safe in regards to COVID, the staff were wearing masks and there was minimal interaction at the outdoor table. The vegan leczo was delicious, it could have been a bit hotter but as it’s getting cooler outside I understand that it’s hard to get the temperature perfect. They had the space heaters up and we were very warm and comfortable!

Sometimes I googled a cafe with the best pierogi ,and Cafe Polonez was the top spot,so I decided to come and try .I was not disappointed! The pierogi were as if I made them by myself) . Borsch was good as well. What I think should be better, the duck (( .and one minor point, there were so many wasps that just interfered with eating (( ! Dessert was delicious! If you a pierogi lover as well as Polish cuisine, then you should definitely come there!

We loved our experience at Cafe Polonez today! My friend who grew up in the neighbourhood has been trying to get me there for a while and we finally made it! I kept saying how the food is so simple but so good. It's the kind of food where you can tell the cook has been making it for years. My friend has been going here for maybe 20 years so that makes sense. I went in thinking that polish food was bland and boring, but Polonez proved me wrong. It's just really nice, comfort food, potatoes, perogies, schnitzel...and cooked to perfection! I also really liked how the plate was garnished and our server was really nice, all around great experience!

The service was poor. Coffee cold. Sauerkraut salad watery and tasteless. I asked for vinegar ... waitress said they did not have vinegar. When I was ready to pay the bill and leave, the waitress asked if I wanted more coffee. Disappointing and expensive for what I received.

Was a very great experience when indoor dining was open last month. The inside is reminiscent of a restaurant you'd visit in Eastern Europe, very relaxing atmosphere. The wait on the food was a bit long but understandable as there were 6 of us but we found out the wait was worth it! Pictured below is the paprikash which is amazing, reminiscent of a traditional Polish beef stew you'd eat in Poland. Quite a variety of Polish classics food wise and drink wise and definitely worth the trip if you're not local too.

I had a great experience at Cafe Polonez! We sat on the patio outside and were served and ate safely. The staff wore masks, constantly wiped down the tables after people came and went and the perogies were amazing! Highly recommend.
