I have to edit this five star review to one star. I brought my partner here because I had a good experience with the steak, which I put down a five star before. I talked to my partner about sunset grill and how it’s steak different from other comparable restaurants such as Denny’s and ihop. But I was really disappointed and regretted bringing my partner here. Today’s steak is thin and tastes plain. I asked for the same item and same medium cooking, but I got a totally different dish. You really want to work on your serving consistency. Below was the previous review ————————————————————— Great service and food. I did not expect to enjoy a real steak at 7am in the morning! Great value, highly recommended!

Salad Caesar served without meat like a big plate with green salads leaves. You need to order it like extra and extra pay for it too. I was a bit shocked. Fried potato that serves with burger, in my opinion, is not tasty at all. Service is 👍

I came here with my mother and 14 month old son early morning like 8 am and I was surprised how busy it was, but it also was a Saturday! We were staying at a hotel down the block so it was convenient. Breakfast was your typical breakfast, they had a kids menu which was great. Big portions, I coulda shared my kiddos food. Service was quick. Also not pricey at all compared to your typical breakfast places in Toronto. Would definitely recommend for families.

This was my first time ordering brunch here, although I have definitely passed by it before. Overall, I was pleasantly surprised. My house salad with grilled chicken was flavourful and filling (and didn’t even require much dressing), my brunch companion remarked that his omelette and home fries were good as well (and he did disclose to my prior to our visit that Sunset is his “go to” place) and the service was wonderful. I deducted a star because the fruit salad, although 11$ was not large at all and had only a handful of berries (mostly melons), the decor/ furnishings could use improvement (perhaps a side effect of such a popular and central located restaurant) and the hours are quite limited (7-3).

I usually don't leave reviews, but I felt compelled to share my experience at this restaurant. The food left much to be desired. The eggs were overly runny, the guacamole seemed like the store-bought variety, and the bread was quite tough. It felt like everything might have come from a freezer. Let's talk about the fries - just look at the picture. They were cold, hard, and seemed more boiled than fried. We could have easily mashed them up. They were far from what you'd expect from a restaurant. They advertise "freshly squeezed orange juice," but what we received tasted like it was made from concentrated orange juice. Nothing felt truly fresh. A friend ordered pancakes, and they tasted strongly of flour. I'm not usually picky, but for a restaurant of this reputation, something needs to change in the kitchen. We were a group of 15, and not one of us enjoyed our meal. It wasn't just us; we heard complaints from other tables as well. I hope this was just an off day because this place seems popular. Fingers crossed for better experiences in the future. Additionally, when I was settling the bill, I took a moment to inform our server about the disappointing food quality we had experienced that day. Unfortunately, he simply walked away as soon as we paid, without acknowledging our concerns or offering any sort of resolution. This lack of response left us even more disappointed with our overall dining experience.

IMO best breakfast in the city. Been coming here for years and not a single bad experience. Staff are wonderful. Food is great. Prices are great. Portion sizes are perfect. Freshly squeezed OJ. Love this place.

It's one of those places that you go for an experience when you are in Toronto. One can pretty much order from breakfast items like Pancakes, French toast to full on Sunset breakfast, which includes Eggs, Bacon, Sausages and Poutine. Blueberry Pancakes are big, a bit dry and the Syrup is not Maple! Other items are mediocre and nothing exciting. They are a chain and well-known establishment. Service was good but rushed.

Dirty cup. Lipstick on mine. Food is very bland. Bacon seemed old and stale. I sympathize with businesses coming out of the pandemic but it is what it was. Waitress nice but very forgetful.

Pancakes were overcooked, everything else was acceptable but not tasty. The service was good. It's also not much cheaper than other restaurants in the area considering you have to pay extra if you'd like to have anything on your pancakes (it was $3.5 for 2-3 cut strawberries and $2 for the whipped cream). I would avoid this place, especially if you like pancakes.

Nice establishment. Good service. I had the sunset club wrap yesterday...the grilled chicken seemed fresh. I liked the sauce, which I tasted at the bottom of the wrap. I went back this morning and ordered pancakes, bacon, scrambled eggs, came with homefries. The food was good.

As I took a stroll down the financial district of Toronto Downtown, found this wonderful joint for brunch. My server was from Venezuela. In addition to a warm courteous service, I got some travel tips to Latin America. My order was for California Benedict and a side of fruit with a drink of grapefruit juice. I can certainly say it exceeded my expectations. Try it today...

Delicious breakfast menu! I recommend the Strawberry Cheesecake French Toast. Good price for a fulfilling breakfast meal (only about $21/person). Staff is friendly and patient. The restaurant has good seating and lightings with big windows. Service is quick and waiting line is only 15mins. The food is served in a speedy manner after ordering!

Well I like this place because of all day breakfast. We were here for late breakfast or brunch and it was worth a patio experience!! We were pretty hungry but happy to be here The avocado on toast is definitely worth a try. Chocolate pancake with maybe extra fruits ok top can be requested. They have amazing waffles right crispy outside and soft from within! The lady who works here is amazing human and a very sweet soul. She helped us pick the right choice and it was worth itز The menu has alot of options however you can try 1 thing each time you visit. Best part is the patio which is cute and decent There is juice and shakes toooo!!!

Never disappoints, best value breakfast you will find in downtown Toronto. Prices are very reasonable and the food is fantastic. Some people say that you cannot screw-up breakfast. Oh yes you can, but this place is not one of them. My go to spot whenever in Toronto.

So the girlfriend and I decided for a late breakfast today. And man oh man. We were happy to have found Sunset Grill. The Service was not only so polite and exceptionally but it was fast. As busy as they were. Our waitress Samantha put a smile on our faces with the phenomenal service. Food was amazing!!! And the establishment was super clean. Especially the bathrooms… Highly recommend this place… Oh and to top it off… Super affordable

Purely Canadian all day breakfast place. Ordered meat lovers omelette and was amply satisfied. Portions are super big and filling. Staff members were really friendly and service was super fast. The waitress was extremely patient with me and even was quite proactive when it came to suggesting sides. Can be a good place for families to meet or brunch with friends. True to its name and legacy, this place lived up to all the expectations one may have of them. Will go back!

I visited this breakfast place and ordered pancakes. Initially, they were quite hard, but the staff was accommodating and replaced them. Despite the effort, I wasn't entirely satisfied with the overall experience. The staff, however, was friendly and attentive.

I left smelling like bacon grease all over my clothes so that’s not good. Portion size was very good for the price, i ordered a pancake and their crab cake and i loved it. The potatoes were too salty for our taste though.

Great food ! overall!!! I asked the manager about the gluten free options and he said all their menu are gluten free. Unbelievable & impossible. I didn’t believe him so I asked that to my server again she explained well. There are only gluten free toast options. She was very nice and well explained about it. Thanks Even though some workers need more knowledge about food, I had great breakfast.

Very disappointing breakfast! The food is basic and flavourless! The French toast was dry and cold. The poached eggs were not soft and runny as they are meant to be, instead I've got two hard boiled eggs. The pancakes look pretty but zero taste. The only thing that was somewhat decent was the waffle, but again needed to add lots of maple syrup to get some flavour. And on top of everything the waitress was quite rude with attitude. Won't recommend this place at all! Go next door to Richmond Station! They are fab!

  • 1/5 Ramin Z. 5 months ago on Google
Oh boy, where do I start? The Sunset Grill at Yonge/Richmond is a hard pass. I've been to this joint three times, and each visit was a one-way ticket to Disappointmentville. Even tried ringing up the corporate bigwigs, but got zilch. This last visit was the icing on the stale cake. The scrambled eggs seemed like leftovers from a bygone era, and when I asked for some cheese mixed in, they said they could only sprinkle it on top. Freshly made? Nope! The pancake was a whole other level of blah. It had zero taste and fluff, felt like I was gnawing on a foam pad. Now, the only saving grace was the waitress, who was a lot nicer and attentive this time around. But man, you could see she was overworked and underpaid, just like the rest, except others didn’t bother hiding it. Flashback to a previous visit - the bacon was cold and dry, like it was yanked out of the fridge and tossed onto my plate after a couple of hours. And don’t get me started on the hot sauce, or the lack thereof. Their home fries are a saga of culinary chaos. You get a mix of undercooked and burnt bits, like they can't decide how they want to ruin potatoes. If you've got any other option, even a Tim Hortons or McDs around the corner, you're better off there. I've checked out other Sunset Grill spots and they were decent, so what’s the deal with this one? It’s like the black hole of breakfast places. In short, if you’re in the mood for a good breakfast, look elsewhere. This place? Avoid at all cost.

I ordered from take out from the Sunset Grill on Richmond. I've never been before. I got the Western on Whole Wheat toast. The woman who served me on August 16th, had dark hair, tiny and she was so nice and so full of energy. I wish I remembered her name. The service was great and for takeout it was quick and the food temperature was still very warm 10 minutes later. The Quality of the Western was excellent and very filling and not greasy. It had a real homemade taste. I was also asked by 2 different staff members if I had been taken care of as I waited. Very nice. I highly recommend you try it if in Toronto. Right in the heart of downtown, with a very large selection.

My wife and I were in the area and had a short time to eat. Found Sunset Grill. Were were seated promptly. The food came quickly and was classic breakfast food. We let our server know we had limited time and she was quick and attentive. Would be happy to go back. Took off one star for lack of accessible entrance. The dining room is on the ground floor and there are no stairs up. The only problem is that the entrance is fully manual. It is a vestibule entrance (one door in, then a second door--keeps out cold weather) so it is difficult for anyone with canes or a walker and pretty much impossible for a wheelchair to manage alone. It'd be great if they modified to make it friendly to those with disabilities.

Great service, great food. I ordered 3 eggs with bacon and toast; my wife ordered the ‘for a limited time’ crab cakes. Both were great. Coffee was bottomless and good. The only thing left on the plate was the asparagus that came with the crab cakes; would’ve lost a star but everything else was so good, will let it slide ;)

Been coming here weekly for breakfast since 2018. Nice staff and consistent service. Never had to wait in line and staff can anticipate our needs and have a coffee ready before I even have to ask for it. Thanks for all the great meals!

I always enjoy eating here! Very clean. They have a great choice of items even an all-day breakfast! I had the peameal bacon, three eggs, home potatoes, ww toast and jam. The toast is buttered for you! Also, I ordered coffee and they come around to refill it at no extra cost! I sat inside this time but they have an outdoor patio which you do have to catch the right hours for the sun. Enjoy!

Atmosphere and food was good however the Manger was very carless, he brought out food to the table next to us , when the other guest said that the food wasn't there order , he proceeded to pickup the plates off there table and place them on ours. " here's your order " he says . I say "no it not , your not gonna pickup food from one table where you sat it down in front of other guest and then tell me oh this is your order. " he's responds " No one touched the food " My response it's post COVID-19 and COVID-19 strands still is alive and well you are not about to give me food that other guest were just breathing on and tell me they didn't touch the plate tho. Take it back and redo my order. Sorry not sorry. " He later responded saying it actually was there food and not ours but still not very apologetic and understanding of where I was coming from. It totally ruined the experience of quite outdoor breakfast in Canada for my husband and I.

Its just ok. I asked for pouched eggs and both of the eggs were watery in the middle and not cooked at all. Had to ask for the food to be taken back to be cooked properly but by the time it came my partner and I had finshed his breakfast and there was no point anymore to have taht food. There use to be much better places to have breakfast around this area but with COVID competition has gone away. I would suggest trying other places but if you have to ... as I said, its ok.

This really isn't about the food. It's about Covid protocol. I like that they have hand sanitizer at each table, service is good but they are NOT following to Govt guidelines to 50% capacity. I could not finish my breakfast today. By the time my meal was served, the restaurant was at 90% capacity NOT 50%. I'm willing to do my part which is to wait until a table is available along with showing proof of ID and Shots ( no fake ID here) but this was an unsafe environment. I decided to mask up until I was able to pay the bill and I chose to use this platform rather than speak to management. Leaving this establishment as soon as I could was more important to me than taking the time to raise my concern. My voice would not have changed the dynamic of neglecting the safety of their patrons.

Classic breakfasts are always good! Avocado toast was a bit different than other places It tastes like a greek salad. Maybe because of olives and tomato. Not so much, my type of food

  • 3/5 Gayan P. 2 years ago on Google
A typical diner experience. Got all the breakfast menu items you'd expect from a diner. Nothing elevated or out of this world. Just nice middle of the road diner food. Sometimes that's all one wants. Was lucky not to have to wait for a table, but it does get pretty busy during brunch time on the weekend, so be prepared for that. Nothing specific to point out about the menu, it's what you expect.

  • 5/5 Antoun S. 2 years ago on Google
The brunch was wonderful. The servers were a bit careless, they just came to ask for our orders, serve it, and to pay. The food was good, and good portions compared to the price. I ordered Eggs sunset and it was so good, specially the sauce they have on top of it. The other person with me ordered Florentine omelette, I tried it, but it wasn’t my favorite since it had spinach. The weird thing is that the coffee is not for free or served with the meals Overall, recommended

Had brunch here twice and it was delicious. We ordered Chocolate Chip Pancakes and Chicken Sandwich. We got Classic pancakes instead but waitress was kind enough to get us Nutella spread upon request. Been here twice and visit again for sure. Price is very reasonable.

Tremendously bog-standard. Very decent fare for the price. Food was tasty enough. Exactly what you would expect from a breakfast doner. Does what it says on the tin, and does it well enough. There are plenty of more modern exciting alternatives close by for not a ton more. The staff were the redeeming factor... They're all really nice, welcoming and helpful.

  • 4/5 Eric G. 1 year ago on Google
Chain breakfast spot, you know what you get when you come here as it is pretty consistent. That said it’s nothing special and with prices up and portion sizes down it makes it hard to recommend a breakfast spot that is going to push over $20 for a standard bacon and eggs breakfast with a tea/coffee. Food is cooked well and service is nice but portions could leave you hungry.

  • 3/5 Michael B. 1 year ago on Google
It’s OK, not more. I did not dislike my food, but i was not impressed. I think you can go somewhere else for a similar price with a better experience. I understand the concept of « 3 eggs » everywhere, but most people just couldn’t finish the 3 eggs, leading to dissapointment.
