A huge 5 level of gallery with amazing arts, models, painting and sculpture by different artists. Every room has a story to tell and one can easily spend an hour just in one section. Make sure to eat well and have ample time with you to visit the gallery. Also, they have a stand where you can keep your coat and bag otherwise if you are carrying a backpack, you have to carry it either on the front or the side but not in the back. I would recommend to get the tickets online or if you are a member of Toronto Public Library you can avail free passes every Saturday. Overall, a lovely experience.

Stopped in for an afternoon of art. It was a great walk through with many interesting pieces of art. Only complaint, there was a special exhibit that is an extra charge. Our group was willing to pay to enter, but the staff didn't want to do all the paperwork at the time. Disappointing that it wasn't clear when we purchased the original tickets.

Very large museum, but manageable in a few hours. It had a good variety of exhibits and artworks, from a range of cultures and styles. It is big enough to handle a large amount of people at any one time so you don’t feel crowded when inside. Additionally, under 25s go free which is wonderful for any younger people who wish to visit- no worries about cost! Also, the restaurant is good :)

I spent approximately four hours in the museum just checking out the ground floor. There were four other levels that I didn't have the time to visit. There's A LOT to see here. It's worth it. Just make sure you have ample time to make the most out of it. There's even a restaurant and a gift shop, so you can pretty much spend most of your day here.

I have never been very fond of Arts 🎭, but my wife loves it. Once my wife took me to the Art Gallery of Ontario, now I have started developing interest in arts and historic paintings. This place is clean, big and beautiful. Anybody under the age of 25 can also enter for free. I would definitely visit again.

Great collection of art in the heart of downtown. The gallery has 5 floors with one level dedicated for special events and basement for small models of ships. Other floors are easily accessible via elevators and stairs. Level 2 is what I enjoyed the most with art from 1200s, there is a beautiful gallery in Canadian indigenous people as well as sculpture art collection on the same floor. Coat check is available for 2 bucks, art shop is also located on the main floor. Municipal Parking is available nearby like 40 larch street.

Beautiful paintings, sculptures, artifacts, mediums, architecture, and creations. Really enjoyed my time here, it was very peaceful. So many stories packed into each room, it would take hours to just get through one section if you really read and appreciated everything. The exhibits are beautifully places and flows nicely.

This place is freaking huge; a good way to spend a few hours! Tickets purchased in advance for Wednesdays after 18:00 are free. l recommend going no later than 18:30 on any given day. It will take you a couple of hours to simply glance at all the artwork. The animated moving wallpaper art by Lisa Reihana was the highlight of my visit. I'm definitely visiting again. PS : Appreciate art with your eyes 😃 A lot of the artwork can be reached by hand (unlike a lot of museums that make sure you keep your distance), but please refrain from touching them. I saw a lot of people do it and get told off by the staff.

We went to this museum on a weekday and it was still a little busy but still nice. When you’re below 25, you have to register to an annual pass which is free but still takes up a few minutes. The museum in itself was not really my favorite because it had too much of contemporary art which I’m not so fond of. Otherwise, the floor with the miniature boat collection is really nice and the back stairs (accessible from the third and fourth floors) are worth going to admire the view from there. During our visit, there was a nice temporary exhibition which was really nice and intriguing and it seems like they have a nice set of these temp exhibitions !

I went on wed between 6-9pm. It was free admission. I highly recommend getting the tickets online since it will help you skip the entire line! The exhibit was also a little busy because it was free. But even though it was busy, it did not seem crowded at all. There were still a lot of space to move around and view the beautiful art pieces with no obstruction. I highly recommend this place! Great for a date or an evening adventure. It you are going not Wed night, it will cost you $25

Great place! We spent 5 hours there and only covered a small portion of the place. I loved the Indigenous art section! They also had one of the Group of Seven member's pieces of art. Also, they had an ivory section that featured a lot of intricate pieces of work. It was astounding to see how small the artists could carve these items. My pictures won't do them justice because you have to be there to see how tiny they are. Also, they had a section for black photographers that was well done. Resting areas: They have chairs placed very frequently throughout the building. Wonderful addition! They even had a bed-like couch that you could lay on! Tickets: Buy them in advance; otherwise, you will wait in a long line-up. We breezed through with our online tickets. Kid-friendliness: Don't bring kids here. They will be completely bored, and it is completely quiet in this place. Food: They have a restaurant inside. They also have tables that you can sit at to eat that are not part of the restaurant. They have a gift shop. Washrooms: On the levels that I visited, the washrooms were on every floor. Playground: There is a park beside the AGO with a playground. Tip: We walked down to Wahlburgers for a late afternoon lunch. What a lovely meal!

I love the AGO. It’s a great place to hang out, have a date, or just spend some alone time. There are so many collections that I haven’t been able to explore fully yet. Our favorite is Henry Moore, but the whole place is just so beautiful and captivating, including the architecture. You can visit the cafe and gift shop afterward, and I also love the park right beside it, where you can find sculptures by Henry Moore. I totally recommend it.

Amazing museum. It was one of the best accessibility places I have visited. Never once did my wife's wheelchair have an issue once in the museum. Parking was bad. Would recommend not using the parking garage across the road from it if you need a wheelchair. The art collection was beautiful. A lot of Canadian collections, great impressionist works, great female artist pieces, the special exhibits were amazing. I was just overwhelmed by the experience.

The Art Gallery of Ontario is a must-visit for art enthusiasts. The collection is impressive, covering everything from classic European masterpieces to contemporary installations. The building itself is a work of art, with a modern design that blends seamlessly with the historical sections. The layout is spacious and well-organized, creating an inviting atmosphere to explore the artworks. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, always ready to assist. The AGO offers educational programs and activities for all ages. While it can get crowded, it's worth it for the incredible art on display. Don't miss the café, restaurant, and gift shop. Overall, the AGO is a remarkable art destination that shouldn't be missed.

I like museum. AGO is one of kind. The exhibition are always well explained and we can take the time to enjoy all of it. I love to see the group of seven. Also, unique piece of arts that we can't see anywhere else. Spending a day at AGO is like stopping the time. We always leave transformed, like if time flies in another dimension. The pass is inexpensive so we go very often. You will love it

Great gallery. Very pleased at the wide selection of art in the collection, including Canadian art, Indigenous art, and foreign art. The temporary exhibits are also well done. It’s also always free for people under 25, which is a great way to get young people involved in the arts! Tickets should be purchased online in advance even if you are under 25, as you may need to wait for an email confirmation.

Was there on Thursday around hours 12:00-14:00. It wasn't too full, and you get a FREE annual pass of your UNDER 25 years old. The museum is huge - has five floors. Will recommend taking time fore one or two, this is enough. Henry Moore's collection was stunning. Will recommend passing the volcano 🌋 voice sensation and the infinity exhibit (which you should book ahead).

This is a great Art Gallery worth visiting too. There’s plenty of floors with each one having variety of rooms with different and unique artwork and pieces. There’s different artist exhibitions that are announced to happen for upcoming months. If you just want to kill time on a boring Sunday with no plans, then this Art Gallery will make up for your day.

Amazing exhibit. Much respect for Khaws and the way he can make something so expressive and meaningful yet very simple and aesthetically pleasing at the same time. We were looking at his canvas thinking about how precise he is and what a good selection of colours for each piece. The AGO never disappoints.

Now that I live very close to the AGO. I figured I would become a member. Love going here when it's not busy and sitting in a few areas. (Mainly Group of Seven Section) it's typically very quiet, even when there's a lot of people walking around. I wish they would have more classical art work or exhibits and have better hours. It's still a great place to visit, even if you are just visiting. Be prepared to spend 3 hours or more if you want to see and enjoy all the AGO has to offer.

Friday evening visit. I had stuggled getting tickets from the website but had no issues getting them at the front desk. They were nice and friendly staff. Got an annual pass instead. Kaws and Kieth Haring were on display. The guides are also helpful. Lots of other art to see. Beautiful setup inside and out. Photos allowed only for personal use.

I love Art Gallery of Ontario very much! I had the opportunity to visit amassing and contemporary exhibitions! All exhibitions are very informative and very educative. These exhibitions are very well-organized. I have the opportunity to use different high quality devices (earphones, translation devices). Beautiful Indigenous art available for everyone to see. I really appreciate the gallery’s commitment to showcasing art that has historically been demeaned for not meeting absurd colonial standards of what art is. I loved my visit! If you are 25 and under, you can get an annual membership for free!

Beautiful works of art with tastes for everyone. There's an entire floor of Canadian art! I was there for three hours and I didn't really get a chance to see it all. It's the Met of Toronto 🤩 Check out the building. It's beautifully constructed, but not in an obtrusive way. The winding staircase beckons the visitor to explore the next level.

People are amazed to find out the AGO is open during Covid. Let me reassure you that the staff at AGO and safety procedures are well organized and it's one of the most safest and enjoyable places to go during covid. How it works from start to finish, order your tickets online even if your member. You will get a blocked time to enter and will be spaced out and go through a thorough screening. Once you are in you can stay stay, they just stagger entry. If you go early you will really get to enjoy it. I love the AGO 😍❤️

A beautiful museum, silence, kindness, people here polite to everyone. For these days you have to book tickets online before you go there, if you are not in Toronto, that's better for you left one more hour at least for the route, traffic jam so hard sometimes. We got there nearly 10 minutes late, but thank God we got in finally. No one hard to you, they're so kind. You just show your electric barcodes on your phone to the scanner, and you are all set. Enjoy the Illusions show, Fu Man Chuck has a new appearance, and evil as usual, funny but true.

I went with my friend who's a fine artist, specializing in art history and curatorial practices. It was good to have someone explain the contexts behind the work we saw. Without her explaining the lives and intentions of the artists the museum would lack any intimacy to really see work for what it is. We came specifically to see the Diane Arbus exhibit, a bigger focus on her magazine work, but the archive was still extremely enjoyable thanks to Arbus' natural genius.

The gallery advised to buy a ticket online in advance but you can buy a ticket on site. And the entering process is operated with uncontacting, so it's more even convenient. And the souvenir shop is open but restaurant is closed.

My favourite art gallery in Toronto. Small (in comparison to other galleries around the world) but welcoming and friendly gallery with quite a remarkable selection of Canadian indigenous art, Canadian art (Group of 7 and more!), rotating & permanent selection of contemporary art exhibitions, a selection of European art (from Netherlands and even some amazing Impressionism pieces). Look for a Renoir piece and a couple Monet while you wander the gallery on the bottom floor and make your way up to the top floor for limited time exhibitions. It’s currently Hague Yang’s exhibition and an amazing one it is! The gallery is closed during Toronto’s lockdown (Nov 23 for 28 days) but hopefully will reopen after!

Purchased the Annual Pass for $35 (which is really great value) and was so super stoked to see the Andy Warhol exhibit that I made a mistake with the online ticket purchase. Called up the AGO next day and a gentleman took my details, noticed what I'd done wrong without me having to tell him, and very kindly sorted everything out and adjusted/refunded my money. Top man and excellent customer service! Oh and the Warhol exhibit was brilliant too!

I’ve visited the AGO since I was a child and it holds a special place in my heart. The architecture is something else - perfectly reflects the beautiful art inside. Gift shop is full of great items and each temporary exhibit always has an excellent mini gift shop as well. Great variety of art and always has interesting exhibits. Always clean and people are respectful. Unfortunately I haven’t gone since Early Rubens back in 2019 but I look forward to going again whenever possible.

The design of the stairs are pretty amazing too. They also got place for food and resting as well. Great place for hanging out with friends and learning about art, both historical and contemporary, international and Canadian! Really friendly staffs. Always love going to the AGO in Toronto. There’s always parking around on side streets (Green P). We really liked having to book a time slot/check in time. It really helped with the amount of people The AGO let’s in due to Covid protocols. We really enjoyed the Canadian Artists and History aspect of it all. Definitely something to do when visiting Toronto.

Visited both the Warhol and Picasso exhibits. Both exhibits were made well and were informative. Unfortunately, there were a lot of people in parts of the Warhol exhibit at a given time, not sure if it was people staying longer than anticipated to read the explanations. Picasso had a long line to get in (even with the timed entrance) but due to this the distancing in the exhibit was better. Picasso had these lovely in-depth videos of how they have uncovered hidden images in the paintings. Overall, a good time and both exhibits had well curated pieces of artwork.

A good museum, with a broad range of art in the permanent collection. The range of medieval/Renaissance European art is limited (much less than in Montreal’s art museum), but there is a large coverage of contemporary art. Plenty of coverage of First Nation art as well, even if they are sometimes randomly placed within other sections. Highlight was certainly the Andy Warhol exhibition - a very good coverage of his life and main works, and highly recommend getting the audio guide (accessible on the AGO website).

Wow what a place to visit. I would say this is the largest Art gallery I've been to. They have about 4 floors of art. I spent 2.5 hours just on the first floor. They have Picasso's blue period and Michael Wong both was lovely in seeing. I would invest in the membership for $35 if you live in the area. Definitely would be worth it and be able to fully enjoy the experience

If you’re under 25 years old you can get a free yearly pass to all their exhibitions and permanent galleries. I was able to see the Picasso, Andy Warhol and Matthew Wong exhibits. There was a long line up to get in which confused me because I thought there were timed tickets to avoid that but it went by quickly. The exhibits were really informative and extensive, the Andy Warhol exhibit also included a lot about his personal life which was interesting. There was a lot of people inside the exhibits despite the capacity limit that made it difficult to read passages and look at the art work safely but it was still a great time. Definitely recommend if you like learning about the artists behind the work.

Beautiful art space. Our favorite part is ship miniatures. Picasso’s exhibition is until mid January. Coffee shop has an amazing ambiance, especially during the sunny day. And AGO cafe is worth mentioning because it’s one of a kind both healthier and yummier place to eat (comparable to regular museum’s cafes). It’s also free to everyone under 25!

A great family visit! Kind staff, interesting layout, beautiful architecture. The only downside was that there aren’t any physical maps, which sucks for tourists looking to keep maps as a souvenirs! Other than that, I enjoyed myself, they have a great blend of British, Asian, contemporary, photography, & native/ indigenous pieces. :)

I had the most incredible time at the gallery this week. So grateful for the incredible contemporary work and the gallery’s willingness to push boundaries about what is possible for artists and their art. I am also incredibly grateful for the wonderful new Canadian artists this gallery has introduced me to. It has made me feel so inspired to be from here and to see what amazing things people do next. Thank you for being such a gem of varied and influential artists. It feels like a mix between the Brooklyn Museum and the contemporary aspects of the MoMA and others. Recent collaborations with galleries across the world are especially inspiring. Thanks so much and will come again!

This is easily the Toronto cultural landmark that holds the most resonance for this gent -- and there are so many reasons to go there; it's a great date with a friend or new acquaintance (tour the exhibits and have a bite afterwards at the cafe), it's a perfect place to find inspiration, it's a place for solace and tranquility during slower hours if you find yourself at a crossroads and need to reflect. The jewel of the AGO is the Canadian section on the second floor where you can take in beautiful landscapes created by the Group of Seven artists, and other Canuck artists are permanently on display -- such as Carr, Kurelek, Moore's massive sculptures, et al. The Frank Gehry renovation is unique, impressive -- the facade from the inside is quite something to behold - macro-spacious corridor with massive timber planks (the scale of which strikes me as a remarkable fit for our Canadian history and identity) and a view down to busy Toronto artery, Dundas Street West, below. The Gehry staircase at the rear of the building is as impressive as the facade, providing a breathtaking view of the Toronto skyline, Grange Park below. I've posted a number of pics from inside the facade and from the top of the staircase. The international exhibits that tour through are of a high caliber -- Frida, Diego, Picasso, Warhol come to recent mind. You will easily reach your saturation point before you've come close to seeing everything on offer. And if you are like me, you'll come back again, again, again. A wonderful place.

The best thing about the AGO is that it's free for ages 25 and younger! Unfortunately it is not cheap for memberships for ages 26+, and I probably wouldn't visit if it were paid. There are some good exhibits, my favourite one has to be the model ships downstairs. I'm not a huge art fan but they do have temporarily exhibits such as KAWs. Overall it's a clean art gallery, well organized with coat check (free for prohibited items like bags). I recommend you buy tickets online to avoid the lineup. There is a gift shop and a Bistro inside. I wish it had longer hours on weekdays.

Loved visiting this art gallery! With much variety, there is something for everyone. The architecture is also quite lovely. Will be back for future exhibits!

Amazing selection of exhibitions. The KAWS exhibition was our favourite. Clearly structured with a friendly atmosphere. It’s free for people <= 25 and I‘ll definitely show up more often: couldn’t see it all in one day.

Great medium sized museum with a large collection of Canadian artists’ works. One large room of Henry Moore sculptures, many given to the museum by Moore himself. A couple of great temporary exhibits of KAWS works and photos by Arnold Newman of time spent with composer Igor Stravinsky. Need to go back to explore more of the permanent collections.

I came in relatively early for a Sunday (11:30 a.m.), so I didn't really wait much, and there weren't many people yet. But by the time I was leaving, there was a long queue at ticketing. Also, if you're looking to roam the museum in a quiet atmosphere, skip the weekends. I'd been once before mid-week, it was much calmer and less crowded.

It's always a fun and entertaining experience. The new exhibits are interesting to see and learn about. Take advantage if you're under 25 years old you get a free annual pass with unlimited visits

If you want an excellent and cultured way to spend a few hours!! This would be the perfect place! With its stunning collection of modern art, you're sure to find something that speaks to your soul.

The AGO has reopened with restrictions: you need to get a timed entrance ticket, and each room is limited in the number of people allowed. As a result the experience is better than it has often been in the past, though wearing a mask is a bit oppressive. We really liked the exhibition of photographs by Diane Arbus, but there is also a nice, small exhibition of British water colours. I also went into a couple of rooms with Canadian and European art. Close to two hours very agreeably spent. Definitely recommended.

I love the Art Gallery of Ontario and cannot wait for it to reopen. I have had the pleasure of visiting the Art Gallery of Ontario only once but it was an amazing experience. The space was stunning, beautiful to get lost in a walk around. The exhibits were varied and each as equally as introspective and thought provoking as the last. The staff was very helpful and kind. I highly recommend the Art Gallery of Ontario for anyone who would like to take in some culture but also loose themselves for an afternoon, forget the troubles of the day and immerse yourself into something wonderful. I hope you all visit!

Building was very impressive, lots of galleries with some chairs to sit in. Nice little coffee bar in the amazing building-length atrium. Some of the modern stuff I think is junk - if I could produce a reasonable facsimile it's not fine art! Free Wed evenings after 6 pm., though you have to line up. At least the line moves quickly...

Amazing museum that should not be missed whether you’re a local or a tourist. Any lover of art and museums will throughly enjoy every aspect of this museum with slivers of art from every century and quite a few unique contemporary art pieces. My favorite piece is the mirror room filled with shiny silver balls with a mirror finish. Make sure to “reserve” a spot in line in the main lobby. Located close to downtown and easy to access using public transportation.

The Art Gallery of Ontario is one of the best of its kind in Canada. The collection is large, varied, well chosen and beautifully exhibited. This is not one of those museums that crowd their walls and open spaces with works of art to make an impression. There's plenty of room for the exhibited pieces and for visitors. The building of the gallery calls attention to itself sparingly, never taking your attention away from the exhibitions. The collection of Canadian art is unequalled. It spans the history of art in the country from its humble beginnings to contemporary times.

It is an amazing place to visit. Relatively huge gallery with a wide verity of art pieces. I loved the atmosphere, It is peaceful and calming. It is worth to buy an annual pass if you are someone passionate about art, paintings and illustrations. I visited the Andy Warhol exhibit as well, It was great.

Beautifully designed building, never over crowded due to good management at the desks. Gift shop is ace, providing a broad range, especially in regards to books 👌 The department of Christian artifacts is by far the best collection in the Gallery by my personal experience, and the collection of busts is quite extraordinary!! Members club is well worth it too, with access to food & beverage service and a charming lounge overlooking the gardens

Great art exhibition loved it went there and time went super fast I booked a 4:30 slot and didn’t know they close at 5:30 on Weekends. I wish I had more time to explore all the art and exhibition but I will be back to learn more and listen to all the online audio files explaining the history and facts of the various art pieces and paintings.

Huge place, full of interesting exhibits from all over the world. I loved going though the special Picasso exhibits - lots of fascinating context to it. COVID protocols were mostly adhered to, and there wasn’t a huge crowd. The Annual pass ($35) is definitely worth it. If you’re bored on a day with nothing to do, highly recommend visiting here.

All the pieces have informative descriptions. The gallery is well curated and the temporary exhibits are usually a big draw. Definitely get tickets in advance because of the limitations during the pandemic. The mobile website is a mess though. It’s annoying to buy tickets on, logging in, and the windows keep freezing. The cost check isn’t free for members, only the more expensive membership has free access to it.

  • 5/5 Rula A. 2 years ago on Google
Always there is something to see. Worth the membership if you are interested in ART. This week, we went to PICASSO. You will realize that you knew a little about the artist, especially the ones that shaped the ART. Before it, went to Andy Warhol. And more and more. Everyone is polite and nice. Even the people. We went with a baby in the pram. We go every few weeks. And it’s worth it. One of my favourite trips to the downtown :)

  • 5/5 Carolyn L. 2 years ago on Google
Spent a couple of hours and wandered from floor to floor, seeing many different genres of art. I even went to the basement level to check out the pretty amazing collection of model ships and boats. Was able to take a lunch break outside of the gallery and get back in again with no hassle to continue the experience. It was busy , probably due to the Picasso exhibit , but staff checked vaccines docs quickly and efficiently and everyone was so friendly. If you plan to visit more than once within a year's time it's worth it to buy the $35 membership which allows you free entry to general exhibit after purchase.

So many good exhibits, especially lots of well-known Canadian artists represented. There's also some great pieces of native art at the gallery. Price is free if you get an online pass (up to 25 years old), but you do have to pre-book tickets as well.

  • 5/5 Dakota R. 2 years ago on Google
There are some really interesting exhibits here, certainly all the carved ivory and wood, but especially the exhibits that explore injustices against the First Nations and their ongoing struggles. The building itself is really beautiful as well. You can easily spend hours here, it's a solid gallery with a decent gift shop. You'll come away from this experience feeling enriched for sure.

Great gallery and amazing price (under 25 get in free)! There’s WAY too much to see in one day. We spent about six hours over two days and still only saw two floors out of five. The gallery is super clean and inviting! Lots of aids for those with accessibility challenges

  • 4/5 Hetil J. 1 year ago on Google
Absolutely fantastic place for art lovers, this art gallery, of 5 levels, is filled with a myriad of exhibitions displaying art of ancient times as well as contemporary artists. Entry is free for people below 25 years of age.

AGO is amazing! If you like museums I recommend you to buy the annual pass and come back in different days. I only could see two exhibitions and I was tired already (after walking throughout the city). The shop has a lot of cool things and local artists' prints. They also have a bistro, and a couple of tables outsides.

  • 5/5 Farrah G. 1 year ago on Google
Where do I even begin?! I got to the gallery at 3pm, thinking 2.5hrs would be enough time to finish the exhibit. (The gallery closes at 5:30pm) Spoiler alert: it wasn’t. I barely made it through the first floor alone. 😭 will definitely be back though!! If you can, make a day of it or get the annual pass for an additional $10 (day pass is $25). In my case, I was only in town for a short visit so didn’t make sense for me to get the annual pass.

Super fun! Easy to get lost. But amazing art and they always have great exhibits. I gave only 4/5 because the main attractions that were there that I really wanted to see were down due to "technical issues"

  • 5/5 Starasia S. 10 months ago on Google
Gorgeous museum. The design of it, especially the staircases, is as good as the art. I was introduced to the iconic paintings of the Group of Seven and the modern sculptures of Henry Moore. They are revered Canadian artists, but I never heard of them. The current exhibition on the top floor was amazing. We went for free on Wednesday. You have to go online the Monday before and nab your free tix.

There was free admission today because of King Charles’ coronation. I haven’t been to the AGO since I was a child. There’s a very good reason for this. It’s boring here. Extremely. There is nothing here that would entertain a child. My 6 year old daughter kept asking when we were going to Grange Park. I don’t blame her. Some paintings were interesting. However, some of the exhibits left me wondering what passes as art these days. One of them was a video of some guy in his tighty-whities walking into the wall. Seriously?

2023 May 4★ Nothing to really dislike per se, but the upper floors (5th in particular) which contain contemporary art is very subjective with some images of nudity. Though all while nudity in art isn't an issue, how it's portrayed and the meaning behind it is necessary. Maybe it's just me as I failed to see the meaning. Otherwise, in interesting collection and one that is worth seeing. Enjoyed the first floor the most as it contained: Contemporary European Indigenous & Canadian Modern Photography Prints & Drawings Special Exhibitions The Grange - Members' Lounge Walker Court Overall, a good spot for visiting. Expect to spend at least 2 hours. 3 hours is a safer bet. Street parking or take public transit.

Such a great way to spend an hour or more when in Toronto. So many great exhibits in this summer, I recently saw the Wolfgang Tillman exhibit and really enjoyed the more contemporary take on gallery displays. The AGO has always included diverse artists and works with meaningful and impactful backstories!

  • 5/5 Jessica R. 8 months ago on Google
Their website is a great source of info: details about all current and upcoming exhibits including their location in the gallery and when they conclude and artist info. It would be well worth the price of admission however they have so many opportunities making a visit accessible: free for under 25, free Wednesday evenings (still need to get a ticket online or in person and it doesn’t seem like they limit them but I could be wrong), Toronto public library card holders can get a free pass once a year, which is so amazing. Right on TTC route, parking can be harder to find and expensive being right downtown.

Love, love, love how they've made it so accessible to students! Truly appreciate how there are so many significant works of art on display. The cafe inside is a nice touch too. The AGO gift shop is also probably one of few gift shops where I might actually consider buying from.

the best part of this museum is its massive leather sofas… def a rare event for museums to have comfy accommodations like this! enjoyed its KAWS exhibition and the AR section was engagement and playful, added a nice twist to the traditional visiting experience.

Exhibits change frequently so it’s a great place to visit on your own, with family or friends. It’s worth while you get the annual pass and be able to visit as much as you want in a year. They have an eating b stress of you want to bring your own food especially for kids. Or they have food for purchase inside but of course it’s a little pricey. There is a lovely cafe on n the second floor with nice views of the museum. The kids love to visit when there are art activities. Kids are also free admission! Lots to see at the gallery. It can be busy on holidays and peak times. I’d recommend going off peak times so you have space and time to see what you want. If you have a pass you can see a little at a time and just come back.

Husband & I went there for the KAWS: Family Exhibition, and we spent about 2 hrs to see everything. The art gallery isn’t too big but we liked the Art Shop and bought some souvenirs like Kaws book and magnets. Tip: buy the annual pass as it is only $5 more than the day pass!

Huge gallery with the option of exiting and re-entering the gallery on the same day for no extra charge. There was much to see and you could easily spend a day here as so vast with many pieces of artwork and photography. Unfortunately, didn't get to see it all as had another tour booked, but an excellent day for any art enthusiast.

I absolutely enjoyed my experience. My kids and I had a great time. We started at the Bistro and that was a great welcoming atmosphere. The waiter was so accommodating and friendly. We had the pleasure of joining the tour on Oct 15. It was a worthwhile experience. I wish I remembered the name of the engaging guide. The story and the journey was so captivating. I initially intended to stick around only for a short time but loved the experience so much I forgot 🤣 The representation of black and other diverse cultures and art categories was great to witness. I especially liked the "feels like home" signage. It's been a while since I was able to get to the gallery due to health and lockdown ordeal (sigh). Getting an opportunity to rekindle my love for the arts experience at AGO definitely felt like home, especially after such a long time away. The only thing I didn't like was the children's hands on experience areas are such a challenge to find. It seems to be dispersed throughout the gallery which is fun but tiring. My kids wanted to experience and better appreciate some areas but the crowd in some areas was too much - another day's journey. At the close of my visit, I felt a sense of calm, exhausted (so much to see lol), and inspired.
