Beautiful re-created village of Toronto region that’ll right away take you to 1860s and will give a glimpse of the lifestyle and day to day activities of the people who lived during that time. It houses around 50,000 artifacts that’ll help you in understanding the past. In the village, You’ll see half house Inn/ Tavern(served as an apartment and hotel), an old printing press with some sample posters, doctor’s house- tools, medicine bottles and a rate chart, an old water mill , A big barn, shoe maker’s shop, A school and many more old buildings which will teach you some history. You’ll also see animals like rabbits, goats, horses, bronze turkey etc. Plenty of parking and is not that expensive as well. Village is well maintained and you’ll see shady trees and greenery everywhere. Good place to spend your day if you have kids as will be worth a visit.

We went for a Christmas 🎄 evening event. It was terrific with Christmas Caroling and Santa Claus, warm chestnuts roasted on 🌰 the fire 🔥. I felt like a kid again. Take your kids... its worth the trip.

Black Creek Pioneer Village is like stepping back in time to experience the charm and simplicity of the past. It's a cool place where you can wander around old-timey buildings and feel like you're in a different era.

My first time visiting. It was so beautiful in the winter and the snow-topped trees. Also had nice Christmas decorations. It was a bright day, not freezing cold. We did the self-guided tour. I downloaded and printed a map but the arrows along the paths clearly indicated the one-direction flow for socially distancing. There was limited entry into the buildings which were clearly posted at each entrance. We arrived at 11:15am and stayed for 3hours. Eating and drinking permitted outdoors only. Masks must be worn indoors. A few buildings had staff dressed in the period (19th century) demonstrating the respective occupations, e.g., tinsmith, printer, and doctor. Lovely gift shop was open. Gallery was closed. Parking was $8.59. I totally enjoyed my visit and hope to visit on summer.

Attended winter glow. First time attending a walk through light event, kids really enjoyed running around looking at the lights. Accessible for all, paved path to walk on. Two food trucks serving food and hot chocolate and at end of walk you have option to take a bus back to parking lot or walk back. I think the bus ride was highlight for our little ones

A great place to learn about life in Toronto's distant past. You can spend about a fun few hours here exploring the various historic buildings and interacting with the staff demonstrations. It's mostly outdoors so a hat is recommended. I spent 3 hours there and I did basically everything available.

Beautifully maintained attraction. It is a great place to explore some fairly recent history of the city. Take food and water/drinks if you plan to spend the day because there isn't much available in the park except the very basic stuff in the gift store.

I've gone to Black Creek Pioneer Village multiple times since I was a kid and I always have such a great time! Most recently, I attended last night's Haunted Walk tour. Our guide, Sarah, was super knowledgeable and amazing storyteller. She had so many eerie anecdotes to share with us on our tour. It was easy to enjoy ourselves while remaining socially distant from the other 4 people that joined us. There was the perfect balance of spooky stories, as well as being able to explore the experience the houses in a brief walk-through. We even spotted two spirits while on the tour -- on the stairwell of the Half-Way House, and someone walking along the path near the church cemetery. I'll definitely be coming back for another one of these tours and recommending it to my friends.

Set in the 1860's and overall a great experience. Some things to note: You can get a discount for parking so bring your parking ticket with you when you go inside to buy the ticket for the village. At the counter you can ask them to add parking and they give it to you for a bit cheaper. It did seem a bit deserted on a Sunday and a lot of the places did not have any people in them to guide you. It was if they were opening them slowly even though it was 1pm and they close at 4pm. There are not a lot of food options there so bring snacks! They do sell cookies and bread there but it was expensive. For example, it was $1 per cookie as it is freshly made. It is hard to find water there so it is better to bring a water bottle with you. It would take a total of 2 hours to go through everything.

Black Creek Pioneer Village is a great experience. Lots of interesting facts about life in the 19th century. Was surprised to see so many artifacts and antiques. Very well maintained. The staff is very nice and helpful. Ample parking spots. Also convenient by TTC. 10-15 mins walk from the Pioneer subway station. Great place to spend 3-4 hours.

Looking to spend a couple hours in a time-warp? The Black Creek Pioneer Village is a great place to kick back, relax, and experience what life was like in the past! The exhibits were really well done, and the staff were really knowledgeable about the history of both individual buildings and the technologies/tools used in the era! Don't forget that if you got there by TTC, you can show them your card and get a discount!

It is a great place to experience the old times in Canada. You can see couple of people with old outfits to help you absorb the vibe. It was a pitty that couple of houses were closed and the dollhouse exibition was not there anymore...

Is a great place to spend a day outdoors. The houses are small and the village isn't so big but there are benches along the way you can sit and enjoy an afternoon. You can also buy some food and drinks and yes they sell beer!

A little gem in North York (now accessible by subway), we've found it to be a very good way to spend a few hours while learning about how life was around 1850. Very educational for kids (and not only)! Many interesting things to see, from a Mason lounge to the Mill which is quite a nice piece of engineering. Kudos to the volunteers that are spending their time explaining and showing many of the village's features: the Printing House, Weaver, the Doctor's house... there is something for anyone. As a suggestion, we would've liked to see more animals such as: horses, cows and pigs. The only negative note - which doesn't have anything to do with the Village - is the fact that it's situated exactly under the landing flight path for the Pearson Airport. There is a plane flying by every few minutes. In spite of that, I strongly recommend the place for a relaxing few hours and a bit of history.

Great as a brisk healthy walk in nature but not at all frightful or scary for the thrill seekers in you. This is a nice date spot or family oriented experience. For those looking for more scares try nightmares in niagara or fear farm. Again not bad and a nice scenic walk just not my cup of tea. Happy Haunting

An incredibly amazing and beautiful open-air heritage museum, the village is a re-creation of lifestyle in 19th century Ontario. It’s a time machine that will take you back to the mid 1800s life in a village in Toronto to explore over forty 19th century buildings and furnishings. It’s a great learning experience for kids to explore life in the past. The site features historical enactments and artisans which provides a great hands-on learning opportunity for young kids to learn about life in the past. There’s a printing press, a barn, family houses from the 1860s, blacksmith’s shop, church, schoolhouse, hotel and many other buildings from the era. Animals on the farm including goats, sheep, rabbits and horses are great fun for kids. The village is very well maintained and there is plenty of parking space available for visitors. Highly recommended for families with kids and well worth a visit for anyone interested in experiencing time travelling.

We've been here many times but it is still enjoyable. The kids (teenager and beyond) still enjoy the outing. Watching the 'free run' chickens was very enjoyable. They seemed very happy. The Billy goat enjoyed her rake message. The sheep is very friendly. We visited the different houses and the attendant tells a good history, but the barn animals are so alluring.

This wonderful place gives you a great idea how the pioneers and early immigrants live in Toronto area. The Stong family (came to Canada 🇨🇦 from Ireland during the potato famine in 1830-40s) houses, tinsmith, blacksmith, printing shop, physician house, local hotel and brewery are all to be seen in this beautiful place. Tickets cost $18 per adult. Parking is extra. There is a shop to buy some souvenirs.

I was here last night on a group tour, most kids in third grade would have remembered pioneer village. But at night it was definitely different. The lovely Kent from haunted tours, took us around stopping at select houses and telling us the backstories and occurrences that have happened. Or so they say.... The one house I felt my chest get heavy and a slight headache was the Maser house. Located across the cemetery. Listen carefully to the story and be careful during your visit. All in all , it was a good walk and cool ro see the village. I recommend it. **** possible sighting I've attached 2 photos taken by the cemetery. Look above the tallest tombstone between the 2 posted here. There is a red orb. Happy travels.

Lovely village set in early 1860s - smaller and bit more run-down than Upper Canada Village in Morrisburg. Did the self-guided tour - expect to spend 2-4 hours here, especially if you want to visit all the buildings and have a snack or lunch in the middle along with washroom break as it's a lot of walking! I recommend arriving as soon as they open at 11am so you can walk through at your own pace. Pre-covid, they had staff dressed up in the buildings but not anymore, so expect to walk through empty buildings and do the reading/ discovering on your own. Of course there is restricted access to some areas (i.e. staircases in buildings to go upstairs/ downstairs to basement, eating areas, etc.). They have some thematic tours at different times; we joined the farm animal tour in the second half of our visit. The guide was very knowledgable and engaging. The gift shop is also open for treats and souvenirs. I recommend this place for a family outing :)

I had such a wonderful time there. It takes about 1.5 - 2 hours to tour the whole place. I learned so much about Canada's Victorian pioneers and seeing the staff/guides walking around dressed in Victorian clothing made the whole experience truly come alive. Thank you to all the staff there and for preserving this gem of a village! Look how cute!

very disappointing. 1st of all it took 40min to get to the main gate then its in some conservative area where driving in the sloppy narrow road was not fun plus its not very fabulous lighting. there are very few ice sculptures which are not something you say Wow. Keep good 3 hrs if you want to really experience and enjoy. Absolutely amazing CONCEPT and well kept with some exceptions/ locked buildings .... and to a reasonable level, it lived up to my expectations of experiencing life back then... However, i think with a little bit more engagement at respective buildings ( few had no one representing it like the Mill ) will really just make it awesome ...

The place is mix of buildings from Ontario of 19-20 century, presenting the way-beeing of that times and depicting the history of Canadian villages of that time🇨🇦. Nice place to spend with family on a summer sunny day 🌞. Take some food with you as there is almost nothing to buy there 🥪🌯🌭. And I would recommend to take guided tour.

Great place to learn more about the history. When I walked in, it felt like stepping into the Netflix series "Wednesday"! The area is spacious, taking around 2 more hours. Be aware of the sun! Make sure to do some prevention in advance. Also has a great souvenir store inside! I went there on Canada Open Day 2023; not sure if it needs a ticket or not.

Strongly recommended to tourists who want to immerse themselves in the 19th Century Toronto. The atmosphere is excellent with very nice staff with 19th Century clothing and they are willing to share knowledge with you. The whole experience is great and the price is not expensive. Reserve at least 3 hours to go through the village if you would like to enjoy chatting with the staff there as the village closes at 4pm.

BCPV is such a great afternoon experience for adults and kids. It's not too large or exhausting, and really feels like a mini theme park world - but a non-tacky one. Note that there weren't great food options there (we had a cold, pricey sandwich on a weekday December visit). But lots of Canadian history, informative tour guides, and a great gift shop - will be back again when the weather is warm!

Black Creek Pioneer Village in Ontario is a captivating step back in time, offering an immersive experience of 19th-century rural Ontario life. With over 40 restored heritage buildings, including homes, workshops, and a blacksmith's shop, the village authentically showcases the lifestyles of the era. Knowledgeable costumed interpreters bring history to life, engaging visitors with demonstrations of traditional crafts, trades, and daily activities. The attention to detail and historical accuracy create an enriching educational experience for all ages. The serene ambiance, coupled with seasonal events like the Christmas by Lamplight, adds an extra layer of charm to this living history museum. However, some visitors might find limited food options on-site. Overall, Black Creek Pioneer Village is a delightful journey into Canada's past, making it a must-visit for history enthusiasts and families alike.

As a wedding photographer, I shoot weddings all across Canada, so Ive seen hundreds of indoor/outdoor venues throughout my career, but I was absolutly amazed when I photographed a wedding here! There are SO many spots that have beautiful sunlight peaking through which gives your images that glowly dreamy look! The grounds are beautiful maintained and has lots of rustic architecture to play with! Pro-tip: Theres lots of buildings and windows around the grounds to give your photos a variety of looks! This is a nice historic village. I went here and was satisfied with my experience. I walked into here and walked around all of the historic buildings in the village. There’s a mill, blacksmith shop, school, houses, and stables. The buildings are all well preserved and well laid out, which is nice. There are fort roads that go from building to building, which is pretty nice. After I walked around and went in everything in the village, I left, satisfied with my experience. I gave this village five stars because it’s historic and well preserved.

I truly love this place and I love the fact that it's so serene and on the outside of the fence it's just back to real life and the busyness of today's day and age. I love the authenticity or how they try to maintain the authenticity of the olden days. Unfortunately because of covid restrictions my visit wasn't as great as it used to be. The tours were limited. There is nobody in each exhibit to correspond with and get information from and ask questions to. You were just left on your own to read the signs and figure it out. I wasn't able to get any fresh bread nor was I able to go into the emporium and get some souvenirs. I was able to visit the gift shop on the way out and get some old fashioned lollipops and Infamous rock candy. Just did not seem as inviting as previous. I will continue to support the Black Creek Pioneer village as it is historical landmark here in the Jane and Finch community.

Came here on a sunny Saturday afternoon. Spent about 2 hours walking around. it was fun, interesting glimpse into another era. The costumed 'villagers' told educational stories (especially liked the lady talking about the pig farm, candle making...). I would say 2 hours is about enough to see everything. Unless you come with kids, then you probably need more time. Also, easily accessible by subway, very convenient.

Enjoyed returning to Black Creek Pioneer Village after 25+ years. I vaguely remember some of the things that I saw in grade school. I came with my children who are 5 and 7 and we had a great time visiting the exhibits on our own. There is a lot of reading to go through in the exhibit indoors. It was fun to see the animals (sheep, goats, turkeys and horses). It took us over 2 hours to go through the village. I hope to come back again before I let another 20 years pass.

Conceptually terrifyingly awesome! Our tour guide didn't play up the part but the feel and eeriness of each place has to be awesome under the right tour guide!!

Fantastic place for visiting with kids! There is a lot to learn about the ways everyday things were done in the 19th century. The actors are amazing in answering any additional questions you might have too.

Been before and after Covid, always clean and polite. Always in character, always so much to learn, large large property compared to other “pioneer” places I’ve been. Tons of activities for kids and lots to enjoy for adults too!

So happy i purchased the photo permit for pioneer village!! Photos are amazing! The only part i was disappointed in was parking... if i purchased a photo permit and they allow 20 people for the permit i believe parking should be included for the vehicles but unfortunately only 1 vehicle is included. other then that great experience

What a great afternoon we had! Had not been in years and even with reduced abilites it was a great experience! We will return. The people really bring it to life. Spent the day walking around the grounds. The place was well maintained and easy to navigate. I was with 2 very curious children, and the staff took their time to answer all questions without speaking down to them. They said it was the best day ever.

I loved the atmosphere of the village earlier in the day. Our family went on Father's day and we all had never been there before. It is part of the park system that you can buy a membership with where you can get the perk of free parking. It was the perfect size that was walkable for the kid. He enjoyed talking to the various artisans and trying to convince them to help them. They were very entertaining for my kid. The whole place is like time stopped and you can just enjoy the beautiful scenery. When the brewery is back in service - would love to enjoy a brew on the porch of the inn.

I took a friend from Calgary to visit Pioneer village. The place has potential, but is sad that the staff is not complete, I guess after pandemic is difficult to have people staying at their job. I wish they have more sings and explanation of the different buildings. And sadly were 3 buildings close for renovations. Hope they can read this to improve the place because is really pretty.

it is interesting to show the story to children, it is very hot in the summer, the territories are very large, there are no toilets or water taps on the territory. you need to go back 400 meters to the main building where tickets are sold, also customer service requires better service. they took 16 dollars from an adult, 12 dollars from a child, in general not bad but for one time.

I love this place. I have visited it 3 times in the past and hope to visit sometime in winter if there’s a chance. Must try the ginger cookies! They are so good that I had them every time I visited.

Most of the history of this place, one will find on YouTube since it’s very difficult to explain in my simple language. I know for sure that the materials they used to build this...
