Nathan Philips Square ...Whatever be the event this place never disappoints ...Every event here is celebrated in a king style...We went here on 26th Dec Night and we totally were aghast with the lights it had decorated with... The most famous word /letters of the city "Toronto" was shining bright and we didn't leave the chance to click few photos here. Many kids and youngsters were also skating in the big ring... Decent crowd... With some good food option of coffee and sandwiches to relish on... Some special heart accent lights with heart was a special attraction of this place this time.... Not sure if its still around but if it is...Don't miss a chance....You will love it for sure

The Toronto City Hall also known as the New City Hall took 4 years to build. It was built on land that was once housed by Toronto's first Chinatown. It looks futuristic, so it appeared in several movies such as Resident Evil. Our City Hall consists of 2 curve shaped office towers with one of those 2 towers higher than the other by 7 storeys high. At the centre of it is a dome shaped roof. From the sky looking down, it looks like "an unblinking eye." Right in front is the Nathan Phillips Square, an open place where one can enjoy many free public events like New Year's Eve celebrations, Canada Day's Fireworks, Nuit Blanche, etc. There is a non wading pool off to one side that is converted into a skating rink during the Winter. One can find the famous LED TORONTO sign here. It was temporarily installed for the 2015 Pan Am Games, because of its popularity amongst the Tourists and the Locals, a permanent one was unveiled to the City in September 2020 during the pandemic. It started off with the City's name, TORONTO, then a 🍁 leaf was added to it in December 2016. There is a paid underground parking available at this site accessible off Bay Street. There is a public library located inside City Hall with washroom facilities. You can get here too through the underground PATH walking system. The Queen Subway Station is within walking distance to this location, and so is the famous multilevel Eaton Center Mall. The last 2 photos were taken this month during one of those cultural food venues. The rest of the photos were taken earlier this year in April 2022.

During winter, the fountain area is converted into an public ice rink and is free if you bring your own skates. You also have the option to rent skates for a fee. It gets a bit busy during the weekend but the space is enough for everyone to enjoy the ice. The surface gets a bit rough with all the skaters but it's still a fun winter activity for the whole family. The area is quiet picturesque and you can take some nice picture specially at night when the Toronto sign is lit up in the dark.

Last Sunday evening, I had the pleasure of visiting Nathan Phillips Square in Toronto, and it was nothing short of magical. The square, already a bustling hub in the heart of the city, transforms into a winter wonderland with its skating rink. Despite the crowd, the atmosphere was vibrant and joyous, filled with the laughter and chatter of families and friends. The skating experience itself was delightful. The ice was well-maintained, perfect for both beginners and seasoned skaters. What stood out was the convenience of the rental service. It was efficient, reasonably priced, and the staff were incredibly helpful, ensuring a smooth experience for everyone. What truly sets Nathan Phillips Square apart is its iconic location. Skating with the stunning Toronto City Hall in the background, under the evening sky, is an experience you don’t want to miss. The square is not just a place to skate; it’s a place where memories are made. Whether you’re a local or a visitor, I highly recommend spending an evening here, especially during the winter season. It’s a charming, lively spot that captures the spirit of Toronto beautifully.

Very nice. There is a lot going on, especially in the evenings. In winter there is an ice rink, which is free - only rent skates for a fee. It is nice to sit by the pool in the evening and enjoy the view of the square. It can be quite crowded on holidays and vacations. The main attraction are the letters TORONTO, which also light up at night. Wonderful place to take a photo.

Absolutely lively colorful vibe even when outside is freezing cold. Loves the vibrant atmosphere, well organized underground public parking, great view in centre of the downtown. Pro tip: Parking exit marked as Wolf goes straight up to the ice skating area

Great spot to visit and a must see for any visitors to Toronto. But locals should check it out and use it. Skating on beautiful rink in winter. Rent skates and try it. In my videos, you will see the Leafs annual outdoor practice which occurred on February 12, 2023. City Hall is the seat of municipal activities for the city of Toronto. A fantastic building with an excellent design. Across the street is the old City Hall which used to serve as a courthouse. It has a stunting functional Clocktower. Particularly fun on New Year’s Eve.

Nice, vibrant active space in the heart of downtown Toronto. You can rent ice skates or if you have it bring it you can play there. Its crowded over weekend. As of now like November end the Christmas lights started you will see big Christmas tree. And all the beautiful lights. And its very near from Eaton you can take small walk outside to visit this place.

One of the vibrant places in Ontario for visitors to enjoy and skate their heart out during the winters. They decorate the entire place with Cavalcade of Lights. The standard rates for skating and hiring skate boots are $15 per 2 hrs for an adult, $12 for children, $10 for sharpening boots and $5 for helmets. It is a place to celebrate and a place where many people gather to spend weekends and enjoy holidays, surrounded with good views of high rises buildings, clock tower and get a glimpse of CN tower.

This is a must day trip for the ice skating fan! It will become a once a year tradition for sure. Ice is always nice and smooth, lots of spots to get ready. You can rent skates or bring your own, parking underneath / underground is always reasonable on the weekend. The other best part is it’s cloister to shopping and great spots to go for food after.

Awesome landmark in Toronto with the ice rink infront with all the Christmas set up and lights, worth to give it a try at night and maybe try to go ice skating and take some holiday photos with the family or partner. Close to everything downtown, Eaton centre just a block away and I would recommend on the holiday to go to Hudson's Bay which they are just a block away and check out the Christmas window displays

Very beautiful space. But could have been better if the water body in front of the toronto write up was cleaned. It seemed a bit off being a tourist in such a wonderful country. Apart from this, I think this place is a wonderful mid spot to witness the tall building around and all the cool things happening in the spot.

Went on a cold winter evening with my wife. A great place to walk to. I did the first part of my walk above the floor viewing all great buildings in downtown and returned to the go station through THE PATH. A nice place. Loved some pictures near the Toronto sign.

A lively hang out spot for local folks, kids and tourists. Right beside the heritage Old Town Hall building across the street. Local administration offices and a branch of the Toronto Public library Ron along the far side periphery. Understand that the square is also rink for skating or ice skating and a pond with TORONTO on one of the banks. Food trucks seem to be parked permanently on the street outside. Great photo op for tourists!

Went to the Holiday Fair with my 3 kiddos. Not as busy as I was expecting. No line ups (thankfully) There were rides for kids (36 inches & taller) The carousel was out of service. The rides are 3 tickets per person. One ride was 2 I think. Overall, it was a good experience in a great atmosphere.

A beautiful place encapsulating the beauty of old and new Toronto. Situated near the Financial District and entertainment block, the square is a filled with skaters during winters. The experience is beautiful and east access to excellent downtown eateries make it a perfect destination. Went there on the day of anti-vaxx march, but the situation didn't turn ugly at any point, so the experience remain untainted and well, memorable.

Great open outdoor space for events like various cultural festivals and seasonal farmers markets. Also a good option for take out meals - there are lots of outdoor benches around the building. On Queen Street, there are usually a line of food trucks for quick bites.

Most beautiful and lively area. There was a long queue to rent the skates so I didn't go to the queue but even if you are not skating, you can still click pictures and enjoy the downtown vibe with French fries and hot dog stalls near the skating ground

Wow lovely place you can spend hours to hours. Surrounded by tall tall buildings and few heritage buildings. It's Toronto downtown people are crazy, they are so stylish and etiquette. Whenever I visit Toronto I always spent hours to hours. This is my 6th visit and luckily today is Panorama India. I got opportunity to meet my Indian community and friends. I enjoyed a lit and had fun enjoying food, music and entertainment.

Nathan Phillips Square is a significant urban plaza in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It serves as the welcoming space in front of Toronto City Hall, designed by architect Viljo Revell and landscape architect Richard Strong and opened in 1965. This square is a vibrant hub for various activities, including concerts, art exhibitions, a weekly farmers' market, the winter festival of lights, and public demonstrations. Notably, during the winter, the reflecting pool is transformed into an ice rink for skating. The square is a popular destination, drawing approximately 1.5 million visitors annually, and it's worth noting that it's the largest city square in Canada, covering 4.85 hectares (12.0 acres). It's a symbol of civic life and culture in Toronto, providing a diverse range of experiences for both residents and tourists.

It's an amazing place and has a great vibe. Been there for quite a few cultural and festival events. It turns into an amazing skating rink in the winters. Parking facilities in the basement are good and reasonable. Stones throw away from many a downtown tourist attractions.

One of the best place to spend all seasons of Canada for me. I visit here every season and still the time spent here never gets bored. If you are coming by TTC subway, you have to get down at Queen station. Eaton mall is just next to Nathan philips square , afternoon spend time at Eaton mall and evening at Nathan philips square. They have burger shops inside the square and as three food truck joints which sells hot dogs too. Starbucks and Tim Hortons are nearby. This place is an Emotion rather than a location

Whenever in downtown and want to take away memories do take out some time to pose with the Toronto signboard. It is beautiful at night with colors and a water fountain. It is also surrounded by the old city hall on right and the new city hall twin towers. During our stay in Toronto, we went to Nathan Phillips many times and liked to relax around it at night. And yes there are a few food trucks too for late night munching.

Nice place to visit in Toronto. I really liked the place. The nearby public bathroom was super clean. Since Canada has legalized cannabis, you would smell the pungent smell of cannabis everywhere. This is the downside of this place. We parked our car in the parking lot under this place.

This large Square, directly in front of the New City Hall and beside the Old City Hall, is an absolute must visit! The main attraction is the iconic letters "TORONTO" which light up at night. A perfect spot for a photo! It's at the heart of the city and is used to host a variety of activities and special events. The day we visited, there was a Vegan Festival. In summer, the fountain has a cooling effect and it is a good place to sit for a while. There are washrooms available. The elevated walkways provide a great vantage point for photos. We purchased food from the food trucks along Queen Street West and sat on the seating in the shade of the elevated walkway to eat.

It has a much better atmosphere at night than during the day. However, there are too many people so it is difficult to relax. There is a skating rink and it is full of people, so be careful. There is an old city hall there, so the bell rings on the hour. It's beautiful to hear that sound.

I liked it here. There were various activities going on at this place. In winter , ice rink was constructed so that everyone can enjoy skating. Its free of cost. You can rent the skates if you don’t own it. The toronto sign is always packed with people. Its hard to get a photo in front of the sign. However i always enjoy the vibe there. One can feel the different atmosphere at this place. I would definitely recommend this place if anyone is new to the city and wants to explore different activities. In summer there were indian food fest. As for as parking is concerned there is underground parking which we got luckily. Apart from this, the old hall of the city is in front of this square. You can spend alot of time just roaming around. I went with 4 of my friends and it was worth visiting. The only thing is that its always crowded so be prepared with it.

Very busy on weekends and holidays. Always lots to do, and beautiful sites to see. It’s very close to all the main attractions as well, or within a 15-20 minute walk to anything else you’d desire. The square always has some form of free music or entertainment that is fairly family friendly if you make sure to keep everyone safe and together :)

Cavalcade of Lights was the first big event of the City of Toronto since the begginimg of the pandemic. Without the traditional fireworks, this year presented a beautiful light show that will be on every day between 5:00pm - 11:00pm, till January 2nd. In the South side of Nathan Phillips Square, there were beautiful ice carvings. Cavalcade of Lights is also the day when the City opens the ice skating rink in the reflective pool.

This is a public square for cultural festival & hangout. People take pictures with iconic ' T O R O N T O' and water fountain. Lots of pigeons there who are not scared of humans. I didn't notice any parking spot there. The location is at the heart of the city. Very crowded all the time.

Nathan Philips Square is one of the most important and beautiful tourist points of Toronto. It's a big square where there is TORONTO sign which is lighted in the evenings and looks beautiful. Every tourist want to have a picture with this sign. There are fountain in front of it which is converted to ice skating in the winters. In this big square, there are cultural and social programs and fairs held regularly.

This is a really iconic place in Toronto where every tourist or even locals will come here to take photos with the Toronto sign which gets a different feel at different times, season or reasons. During Christmas season, there is a huge Christmas tree here with really nice lights on it which gives it a really nice festive feel whenever you walk past this place or just hang around here. What's so special about this place? When snow falls and ice can freeze, the fountain area below the "rings" will become an ice skating rink where you can bring your own ice skates or you can rent a pair here (for CAD15 if I didn't remember wrongly) and anyone can skate here for free. I do notice that there are people tend to overcrowd here and because it's outdoors, not everyone wears a mask even though they are really close to one another when queuing for their turn to skate. Not trying to jinx this place but potentially if there's one COVID positive person, there might just be an outbreak here. Do be extra careful during this difficult pandemic time and enjoy responsibly as well as safely. Happy Holidays!

Nathan Phillips Square is Canada's largest City Square with an area of 4.85 hectares (12.0 acres), is used regularly for art exhibits, concerts, rallies and other ceremonies. Annual events include a New Year's Eve Party and the cavalcade of light festival lighting of the official Christmas tree. The annual art festival sets up art exhibits in the square, and has also utilized the parking garage located underneath the square. Opened in 1965. The square is the site of concerts, art displays, a weekly farmers' market, the winter festival of lights, and other public events, including demonstrations. During the winter months, the reflecting pool is converted into an ice rink for ice skating. The square attracts an estimated 1.5 million visitors yearly.

Overall nice place and worth visiting at leastonce. Like how it's possible to take pictures from different angles. Would like it more if there weren't people under influence lying on benches, but, unfortunately, that's what's going on in many city centres.

One of the top tourist attractions in downtown Toronto and located walking distance to CN tower. Busy and a lot of tourists but I'm also a tourist. The weather was nice the day I went. Since it is an open space, not much places to hide if it's raining. Many food trucks nearby if you needed a snack or beverage. There's washroom nearby as well.

Great place to have fun with family and friends. Every one can enjoy this place including children and adults. There are skates ⛸ available on rentals also, if you have not brought from home with you. Dress accordingly as per weather as some times it gets too cold 🥶 especially for children.

A great place to spend the evening. A lot of cultural activities happen around here during the week. Many food festivals took place in the last couple of weeks. Also a good place to sit around the pool and enjoy the views around. Its waking distance from Eaton Centre too. Queen station subway is right beside. I'd recommend going there with family and friends. During the winters, it's a sight to see people skating and playing ice hockey.

Nathan Phillips Square is, to me, an emblem of Toronto. This beautifully designed square provides a glimpse of the blend of modern skyscrapers and historic buildings. It's definitely a must-visit when strolling through Toronto. For those who want to fully immerse themselves in this atmosphere, I suggest starting at Queen's Park, walking along University Avenue, and then turning onto Nathan Phillips Square. Here you will also find the famous Toronto sign.

One or the landmarks of Toronto city. New name sign of Toronto has been so nice in design. During summer, it's always get crowded, be it people or birds. Have few mobile food courts nearby selling halal hotdogs as well.

We attended Taste of India festival there. It is not due to this place but the organizers had terrible planning on fitting dozens and dozens of stalls in the tiny courtyard making it extremely difficult to stand in line for simple things like sugarcane juice etc. Food prepared by Brar restaurant was horrible and it was not well cooked ( Briyani)

if you go there it depends on the date there can be very nice events to share with the family, for example if you go in winter you can find a public ice skating rink, but there are more events like the one on August 14, I was there and there were different presentations of dancing, singing and orchestras from the Philippines, there I was able to find traditional Philippine foods. In addition, the view of the architecture is very beautiful

Nathan Phillips Square - Taste of India It is a busy Sunday at this Square. The City of Toronto always makes sure the events go well and are planned through. The lines are long for the food vendors. There are food trucks on Queen Street as well as the GO Bus COVID-19 Mobile Clinic (there is a line, glad to know people are still taking the virus seriously).

It's been a long time since I've been here. We came here for a food festival. It was so busy and the food lines were long. It was still a great experience. It was too bad the water feature wasn't available for young kids to play in, which would have been perfect on a hot afternoon.

Whether you're looking to take photos with friends, family, or your significant other, Nathan Phillips Square is a fantastic place to do it. Plus, with its prime location in the heart of downtown, it's the perfect starting point for exploring the city. Overall, I highly recommend a visit to Nathan Phillips Square - it's a must-see spot in Toronto!

Great place to go ice skating. The rink closes at 10 pm but apparently the closing time is not enforced as the rink is pretty much open with no obstructions 24/7. The later in the night, the less crowded it is and one can skate freely. The only downside is that there does not seem to be frequent maintenance of the ice as you encounter on usual city rinks where they condition the ice every 45 min ice skating session. The ice can be a bit harsh resembling "wild" ice. I believe the skate rentals close at 9:30 pm. There seems to be a regular guy that plays party music off his boombox. Great vibes, great exercise, wonderful winter activity in the heart of downtown Toronto.

Great place to spend the evening. Has skating but overcrowded. Do have some fast food options around the corner to binge on. Overall worthy of a visit.

Nice square. Good place to stop for a few minutes, if you are walking in the downtown. It was an art fare there, when we visited. Interesting to see. Pretty fontain with "Toronto" lettering aside; neat to have you picture taken infront of it.

We attended the Pan Pacific Music Festival over the weekend. It was fun for family, kids, couples and friends. People were dancing, food carts around and there are also some Botha setup for some specialties. The city parking is underneath very convenient. But we thought the highway was closed so we took subway down. It was quite nice. Over all is one of the outdoor activities within the city.

The Square is where many gather for New Year's Eve countdown, concerts, Christmas skating, and street foods. The iconic Toronto sign makes for a great picture and I really liked the view of the city hall. The asymmetry adds a nice depth to scene. At night, the sign looks even more vibrant. It really makes you appreciate how great the city is if you take a step back and the time to admire it.

Made the requisite visit to Nathan Phillips Square during a trip to Toronto in late May 2023. Very busy public square with water features and the famous Toronto sign. Great spot for photos.

It is beautifully lit at this time of the year. The gigantic Christmas tree, ice skating path and just lights everywhere makes it so magical. I would highly recommend this place especially during the late evening and may be some snow fall. I can vouch you will have an amazing evening.
