DO NOT book this listing, it is NOT a hotel any more! Booked “Strathcona” hotel from our home in London directly through Strathcona website for a Saturday night hockey game, arrived Friday night and would stay until Sunday. Upon arrival, we were greeted by men loitering around our front of the Strathcona establishment, only to be informed that this location has now been converted to a shelter while being laughed at. Went inside to confirm the information was true, and indeed it was. Employees of the shelter informed us that we would likely be redirected to “Pantages”. A hotel that is roughly a twenty minute walk away from the location we were thrilled about… Walked there, to be told that we were the lucky winners of a promotional upgrade— guest suite. This room that was offered to us featured a window that overlooked the hotels third floor rooftop, full of cigarette butts, chicken wing bones and litter scattered amongst the rooftop. The room itself was very dated, looked nothing like the photographs that were viewed online and the overall quality of the location seemed quite poor in comparison to expectations derived from the online viewing. Fortunately— as this IS a common occurrence, the employee within Pantages decided that given the circumstances, it made sense to provide us with a full refund and we left immediately to book for a higher quality, yet still lower costing, conveniently located hotel. Please, take my advice and do not book this location. The lower prices and convincing photography are not what you will encounter upon arrival.

We stayed here because it was the cheapest thing we could find in this area. Turns out we had a pretty great experience. Denver, the gentleman that checked us in was absolutely fantastic. Super helpful and gracious. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The pillows not so much. The shower had soap in a refillable container which was a pleasant surprise (I hate when they give these tiny plastic bottles of soap! So wasteful!). Checkout was easy and they were kind enough to hold our bag so we could trade about the town before we left. I would definitely stay here again!

Both rooms that I stayed in were tidy but very small. Not what I expected from the online pictures. Was a great location though. Had a slight issue getting different shampoo and conditioner and lotion due to an allergy to an ingredient in the stuff in my room but eventually ended up getting a couple plastic cups with different shampoo and conditioner that I could use, which was the stuff I had in my first room on a different floor, which by the way smells amazing. Thank you to staff for being friendly.

The Strathcona Hotel in Victoria is a charming place to stay in the heart of the city. I recently had the pleasure of staying here, and it was a delightful experience. The location couldn't be more convenient, with easy access to many of Victoria's attractions and dining options. The staff at the Strathcona Hotel were friendly and accommodating, always ready to assist with any questions or requests. The rooms were comfortable and clean, providing a cozy retreat after a day of exploring. While the hotel has a historic feel, it also offers modern amenities to ensure a comfortable stay.

The hotel has a very European feel, and is a great place to stay for business travelers on the go. The rooms are compact, but offer enough space to move around, and the beds are fairly comfortable. The hotel offers wall dispensers for bathing amenities, such as hair product and lotion, which is definitely a first for me, and the product provided works well if you don't want to use your own care supplies. The staff is also quite friendly, and while the restaurant downstairs is somewhat pricy, the quality of the food is fairly good relatively speaking. The only downsides of the hotel are that the walls seem fairly thin, meaning you can often hear people moving about the halls later in the evening, and there was an odd drip from my bathroom ceiling on the second day, though it resolved itself fairly quickly.

This has been the second time we stayed at this hotel for business. I l love the location, it's half a block up from Union station, so easy access to and from the airport. Great location to subway stations and super quiet. It feels like a little boutique style hotel. The rooms aren't big, but they're comfortable. They have a good buffet style breakfast that's reasonably priced. I wasn't keen on the fact that I had to let the door close so it can slam shut or else lean on it to close it, you couldn't just turn the handle and close the door gently.

Very small. Bathroom was horrendous- small, cramped, outdated. Had leftovers from the lounge that we wanted to heat up and was told that there were no microwaves except for the staff microwave. Beds uncomfortable and sheets were cheap. For 300 a night, could have been better. Lower level decor was cute and the breakfast buffet was good.

This isn’t a hotel it is now a men’s hostel. It changed over in 2020 and Priceline and others still have it listed as a hotel. I showed up there with two little kids and my wife and there were drug addicts out front. It is not a hotel. Don’t book like I did

I just called the hotel and they told me they are CLOSED INDEFINITELY! Doesn't seem right that their website still allows you to book with a policy of no cancellations or refunds. And Priceline is also allowing bookings with this hotel.

Overall the hotel was pretty nice. The staff were friendly and accommodating, including the house keeping. Everything is clean and decently maintained. The rooms are small but they are efficiently laid out. The price is very reasonable for the location. My only complaints are: the view is quite dreadful, which given the location is understandable. And at one point during my stay it took probably a good 2 minutes for hot water to reach my room. This only happened once, every other time there was no delay.

This hotel is in a great location close to Union Station. Check-in and Check-out were quick and easy. The staff are kind and professional. The room was clean and it had a good layout. The bathroom was spacious and bed was comfortable. There is a tiny closet but a full length mirror with storage. My only note is that the hotel is on a busy street, which meant that at 1:30am a loud truck horn went off and woke me up. This isn’t the hotel’s fault, obviously, but it is important to note if you’re disrupted easily by loud sounds. Otherwise, it was a great stay and I highly recommend.

The hotels best feature is the location. I wanted to give this hotel a higher rating but it’s challenging because the rooms are small and the hotel has limited amenities (no gym for example). The rooms could also be setup better to offer more ergonomic seating at the narrow desk offered in the room as any serious work done while sitting on small stool is strenuous. The hotel staff were friendly and rooms clean.

I would have given 5 stars, but the room was a little dusty and there was some hair in the corner that wasn't swept up. With those exceptions, it was a pleasant stay. The rest of the room was clean & tidy and the bed was very comfortable. The staff was friendly, kind and very helpful. The restaurant was closed, as was room service because I checked in on a Sunday and that was a little inconvenient although an easy fix with a delivery service. All in all, I'd stay again if I had to. For the price, it was exactly as expected.

The room was perfectly clean and nice if a bit small. Check-in was simple. I was in town for a conference and needed a well located hotel by the train station and venue. The only issue I had was the noise. I could hear people in and out of the hallways and all the guests around me. I had to keep the air conditioning fan on.

Great location. Clean hotel. Our room was a smart double. It was quite small, but fine for 2 people for a one night visit. Bathroom was really small, and had a ceiling height of only 7 feet. My son who is 6'3" felt claustrophobic in there. I would stay here again, but would select a different style room next time.

The location is very central and for the discount rate we had it was very reasonable in price. Rooms were well kept and clean, not large by any means but again for the price and location no complaints. Rooms were a bit stuffy after having a hot shower, they need some sort of return air to freshen the room. Beaskfast that was available is quite well put together, we enjoyed it. The pub located downstairs has a cozy atmosphere and some good food / cocktails.

Fabulous stay. Exquisite little respite in the heart of the busy city. Lovely breakfast buffet, 100% quality. Rooms small but clean as a whistle! Staff were incredibly friendly, helpful and professional. We'll be back, hopefully they have space for us!

I booked a room in hotel then it was cancelled from hotel management because of COVID and they told me they gonna provide me refund at the time of cancellation and now they are not. They’re saying reason is it was non refundable. How can they cancel from their side and say it’s non refundable.

No longer a hotel. Shelter for homeless. Owners need to remove online hotel listings and booking system
