Place was clean and the owner was very nice when we arrived. However, the bed was squeaky and really firm, we weren't allowed to flush toilet paper down the toilet even if you had just wiped. The owners also really insisted on us paying in cash and didn't give us a a receipt. It seemed very sketchy at best.

You cannot flush USED toilet paper in the SHARED bathroom. Greedy and shameful on behalf of the owner for not having this fixed. You can see reviews from 9 months before this so clearly it’s not going to get sorted. The room was clean and the location isn’t bad but when you’re showering and brushing your teeth there’s a bin full of other peoples drying poo 30cm away. It’s a bit loud but it is a hostel after all so you can’t be mad at that.

The price is good for budget travellers and the location is close to the downtown. These are the only 2 positive things about this hotel. On the other hand, the service of the manager was not as good as what 5-star reviews described. The manager was so controlling that we had to listen to her about the long list of not-allowed items when we checked in with our heavy luggage. The other thing that troubled us was “cash only” payment where we were only informed a few days before check-in. In these days, cashless payment has become very popular in North America and the host shouldn’t expect the travellers to bring a bunch of cash nowadays. In short, don’t go for this hotel even if you are looking for a budget hotel. The experience of staying there will ruin your impression on Toronto.

Beautiful guest house with a lot of amenities. It is really well localized in Cabbagetown, near from streetcars’ stops and a subway station, but also from great restaurants and bars. We really appreciated our stay at Comfy.

We loved our time in Comfy House. The home-like touches such as blue walls made it wonderfully different from a hotel experience. The roof patio was so nice. The amenities were great, and coming and going, making food etc. was convenient. The host who helped us was friendly, and the owner called to make sure we had a nice stay. Highly recommend Comfy House. If we come back to Toronto, we will book here again.

A budget friendly spot that was adequate to our needs. Clean rooms and amenities (shared kitchen and bathroom) with staff who were friendly and helpful. The location is also excellent with it only being a ~20 minute transit to all the major sightseeing and many great food options within walking distance. While we were grateful for having such an affordable stay, there are few things holding this place back from being truly great. The bedding was scratchy and the pillows were a bit thin. There were no hand towels provided in the bathrooms for after washing your hands. It was also a very noisy place to stay. Somewhat unavoidable when other guests aren't considerate of others. However, the suite walls are thin and all the doors to suites were heavy and spring loaded to slam if not closed gently which resulted in constant slamming at all hours. It was very easy to overhear the conversations of occupants in nearby suites. Finally we were told to not flush any toilet paper when using the toilets. Going back over older reviews, this appears to be an issue that goes back almost a year. This either means there's an ongoing issue that hasn't been properly addressed by the owner (plumber may need to snake or hydro-flush the pipe, or at worse the stack needs replacement), or it's some sort of ineffective preventive measure. Regardless, it's unacceptable to pass an issue over to the customer to navigate rather than deal with it head on. It also would be nice if the outside patio was available for a casual hangout space so guests could relax somewhere outside their rooms, since time in the kitchen is supposed to be limited. Overall, it's a clean cheap place to sleep which is what we needed, but if the above were resolved it could be really something special.

Wonderful Experience This was my first time living alone without a friend or a family in Toronto and I was a bit hesitant. However, this changed once I settled in Comfy Guest House. The owner is extremely friendly and makes sure you are settled in well. The place is neat and serene and you can have your peace of mind. Its location is simply amazing. I did all my errands without having to take any public transport because it is close to all the hot spots in downtown Toronto. I have found the place to be each time I come to Toronto and I hope you make the right choice as I did. Thanks, Comfy Guest House. It was a pleasure.

Location is good. House keeper is friendly. Beds not comfy and squeeky. Terrible pillow. House is clean. They asked for our credit card information on check in and when we refused they asked to pay a deposit which is understandable. But they totally refused to give us a receipt of the deposit no matter what. That all took 40 min of discussion ! We got the money back but the process was sketchy.

Great value for money here, the property has recently been renovated, and friendly service. Just FYI you have to arrange a time to check in with the property manager(since there's no traditional reception) but this wasn't a problem for me. The location isn't particularly near any tourist sights, but not far from them either. I would definitely go back!

Exceeded my expectations. The guesthouse is located just a couple of blocks from the city's heart still it is situated in the quiet residential street with little traffic. The host is highly considerate: it was rather cold in my room and Vivian has provided me with a portable heater for the rest of my stay. The kitchen is equipped with everything needed for cooking, and the house generally has exceeded my expectations. Friendly, cozy, like you are visiting your relatives.

Nice cozy place, close to restaurants and Pubs The bed and pillows are so comfortable as I didn't want to get out of bed in the morning, really enjoyed my stay. The staff is very friendly and helpful. There is free Wi-Fi I've used while stayed at Comfy Guest House. There are many local restaurants and Pubs nearby to enjoy local dining. It is close to all the downtown attractions as well as public transport.

My mum and I stayed here for just over a week during August into September and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We reached ahead of check in time, but we were greeted by Vivian (very nice lady) who talked to us for a bit and allowed us to wait in the kitchen for a short while until our room was ready. The room was small (as we were informed of at booking) but it was comfortable and cozy enough for us- just what we needed. Our room had its own toilet and bath which was very clean. The shared kitchen was also clean and well furnished with appliances/cutlery. The owner came a couple of times - very nice man. The location is perfect - short walk out to Yonge Street & easy access to public transport. This was our second time staying here and we were very pleased. Will surely return & recommend ! - 🇹🇹

This is my second stay at this nice and comfortable guest house, which is located in a residential neighborhood. The guest house has been renovated and provides all the necessary amenities including a well equipped shared kitchen. The room with shared bath was clean and very quiet at night. The bed was comfortable. The guest house is not far from the 506 tram line, which provides good access to the Metro conference center via the subway in less than 30 min. It provides excellent value in the Toronto Metro area.

I booked this place for three nights for my family based on all the positive comments online but unfortunately our experience was disappointing: - lot of homeless people as well as drug addicts around the place which made it quite scary for our son - the room on the second floor is large with a nice terrasse but the furniture is worn out. You need to go up narrow stairs to go to the room so be careful if you have heavy suitcases. The bed for the child did not have any additional sheets, only an old duvet. You cannot throw toilet paper in the toilet as it will be clogged. The double bed was so uncomfortable that we had a bad backache. For all these reasons we left the place after one night and we looked for another place.

This is not a hotel at all. Rooms in a 2 levels appartement. Therefore no reception, you have to arrive by appointment. Very small room, but comfortable and clean bed, towel. Clean shared bathroom. Far from center, 2 different transportations to go there from train station. Cash payment only, never got the receipt i asked for.

Was it Gordon Lightfoot or Duncan Mercredi who once sang: Be one ever so weary as a wandering mouse, There's really no place like the Comfy Guest House. The sight of the homeless in Old Cabbagetown, Means there's always a beer store not far around. You'll always feel welcome at this old comfy inn, by placing your bumwad in the waste paper bin. So next big vacation for you and your spouse, Spend a few nights at this Comfy Guest House. (Cash only upon arrival.)

This place is far from being 'Comfy'. It has unusual strict rules and is extremely unwelcoming. I walked out shortly after checking in as I felt unsafe and uwelcome there. I didn't manage to reach an agreement with the owner despite having made the booking under 2 hours before I arrived, in terms of cancelation or reducing my stay. He sounds greedy and unreasonable.

It's a very nice and clean place to stay. I was here for 7 nights and it was 👍. The lady( Vivian) in charge of the guest house was so helpful with everything especially with all the needed information and the environment. I will definitely lodge here again.

We stayed in the top floor suite, had its own bathroom which was great. Had 1 queen & 1 single bed- beds were satisfactory. Very spacious- sitting area & deck to ourselves. Was a little warm, used fans all the time- it was early Oct and unseasonably warm and a/c was turned off. Our sons stayed in the small room with twin beds. It was tiny but serviceable- was noisy as right near kitchen used by guests. Staff were friendly & accommodating. We had to check in late and staff were accommodating. Area was great- check out Chew Chew’s for fabulous bfast at a great price, friendly staff. Wonderful supper at House on Parliament as well. Would stay here again.

f you want a clean and quiet place to stay in Toronto, this is the place. The owners keep everything clean including the washrooms and shared kitchen. The guests are quiet as well (because they tend to stay in their rooms). If you feel like chatting with other guests, you can sometimes see them in the kitchen, but there is no living room for that purpose. So, if you're looking for a party atmosphere, this place is not for you. I really enjoyed staying here, so I hope to book it again someday. The only simple advice that I would give to guests is to bring a box of your own facial tissues because they are not provided in the room. You will also need to pay your room fee in cash when you check in, so do prepare that too. Enjoy your stay. By the way, If you want a cheap breakfast, there is a Tim Horton's coffee shop near the guest house. Walk east on Gerrard street to Parliament street and turn right. Then, walk about 3 blocks. Tim Horton's is on the left side.

The place is clean and well located. Rooms are small but that's okay, especially if you go back there to sleep only. Shared bathrooms, fridge and kitchen. Free coffee at any time.

Rude and unprofessional behaviour, The Host was extremely bossy about her place and we didn't even spend 1 night there even after paying full price including parking and she refused to give us any money back. This place is a big scam.

When they say Comfy they mean Comfy! Stayed in a suite for two days Tahir and his staff are very kind, caring and accommodating. I'll definitely be staying here again! Highly recommend checking this place out if your visiting Toronto it is in a area where you can get pretty much anything you need.

I stayed at the comfy guest house for a couple of days because I came to Toronto for a course that I had to attend at the nearby hospital. I arrived and was greeted by the housekeeper, she showed me my room and we talked for about 30 minutes. She was super friendly and the place was very clean. She explained everything to me in detail which I appreciated and it helped me from running in to any issues later. I would have preferred to pay by credit card at check in (because I have to apply for some money back from my local hospital) but had to pay in cash.. in the end it was not that big of a deal because there are many ATM's on the way from Union to the guest house and I got a paper providing proof of my payment. I liked the shower which was at a comfortable temperature fast and blasted you with water. The bed wasn't very sturdy but it was allright and the blankets were comfortable. I slept well duirng the days I stayed. The location of the guest house is very convenient and everything in the downtown area is within walking distance (or take the subway for things a bit further). There are lots of good restaurants nearby, even right across the street. The house owner also checked in with me if everything was okay for me. They had USB outlets for charging electronics in the room. I enjoyed my stay there very much and if I visit toronto again will definitely see if the room is available again at that time.

Excellent experience' great for family. The owner is a very gentle man and loving to every guest stay there. During our stay the management of the hotel fully remained engaged with all the guest with full zeal, best of luck for the management

This guest house is great value for money. The host will give you tips and where to buy food and you can cook there. The room was mostly nice and clean. I would prefer white sheets and towels - nothing else feels clean, even if it is. The location is great near the street car stop and there is plenty to see and do within walking distance. It's a nice Victorian Toronto property. I think the main disadvantage for me is all the rules. I can understand why they're there, but it all feels a bit much and you feel watched. No guests in your room for example. It feels a bit restrictive when you're on vacation. Overall, it's well priced, but bear the disadvantages in mind.

The Comfy Guest House was perfect for what I was looking for and within my budget for when I needed to be in Toronto for work for 5 days. Thank you to the owner for the smooth check-in process and for hosting me so well. Much appreciated!

Excellent place to stay while visiting Toronto . Rooms are spotlessly clean , beds are extremely comfortable , and the shared full kitchen has all of the amenities to cook a full meal . Vivian , the hostess as well as owner Mr Tahir are very attentive and accommodating and we were met upon arrival with a personal tour of our room and shared areas . We felt very safe while staying there and the location is very convenient with everything you need within a few minutes walk at the most - beer, convenience store, banking , Street cars to down town core , great restaurants ( House on Parliament and Chew Chews Diner ) . The guest house is quiet making it easy to get a great night sleep . For a fraction of the cost of other accommodations, Comfy Guest House has everything you would need or want . Highly recommended from a very satisfied guest .

I stayed in a single room for a week, and the bathroom was shared. But it was comfortable and there was no shortage. Of course, if you expect the privacy in hotel, you might be disappointed by the sound coming from the next room and the hallway, but if you leave the window open a little, you can sleep and wake up with the sound of birds singing, the sound of the wind and the sound of the rain. In downtown. :) I'm sure it's really hard to find any other accommodation in downtown Toronto that offers this level of satisfaction at this reasonable price point.

Stayed at the Comfy Inn for 2 nights. We enjoyed our stay. The room is small with a shared bathroom but we really didn’t spend much time in the room. Guess were respectful of the shared space and we had no issues. The place is clean and Vivian is always on site if you need her. It’s an older facility and the walls are not soundproof so if you are a light sleeper take earplugs as you can hear others moving about the house. If you are looking for an affordable option in Toronto this may fit your needs.

I stayed here for a couple of days, and had a great time! The place itself is very clean and secure, and the owner and staff are so friendly, always making sure you feel comfortable. The location is great, close to the 506 street car that can take you to the downtown core. There is also some restaurants and shops nearby if you don't want to make that trip. Overall had a comfortable and enjoyable stay, would definitely come again!

We stayed in the top floor suite for four evenings in August 2019. Our previous accommodations in Toronto had become somewhat jaded, and we were looking for a better place. We found it at the Comfy Guest House and Suite. It offered everything for which we were looking: good ambiance, cleanliness. comfort. and attention to detail. The top floor is reached by two rather long staircases, but so what? If you want privacy, you need to climb up to get it. It is spacious. The washroom is large with a good bath/shower. It includes a fridge and a microwave. Overhead and portable fans keep you cool during humid nights. The bed is sensationally comfortable. It also includes a private rooftop deck. WIndows stick a bit, so it takes a bit of time to figure out how they work. All in all, a place to which to return.

This was my first experience of staying in some guest house. I was afraid, being a girl, but my stay was excellent. This was very safe, clean & affordable place. I will definitely come back next time.

I two nights at the guest house in a wonderful room overlooking the street. The location is excellent, a short walk to train station, and tram stop right around the corner. The place is very safe and owner is very helpful.

This place is fabulous! The people are wonderful, kind and helpful. The place is super clean and has everything you need to feel right at home, and the location is great (close to downtown). The neighbourhood it is in, Cabbagetown, is very charming, too. Great value.
