Prices have gone up. The food is hit or miss. The spring rolls are extremely oily and pretty heavy on the fish sauce. Can't recommend it. The rice we had was pretty dry and tasted a little bit old. The Bangkok Stir-fry dish was pretty decent. The service was excellent and the venue is clean and spacious. Salad king used to be a bang for the buck kind of place but with rising prices all over Toronto it's starting to show its flaws.

If you are looking for authentic Thai food with complex flavours and a balance of freshness and acidity this is not the place. The flavor have been changed to suite local taste buds (sugary sweet) but I am not saying it's not decent food. It's decent Thai "like" food at a reasonable price if you consider $15 for a Pad Thai reasonable. On the up side it was a nice touch to be able to select you spice level. Service was good and the place was clean.

Nice waitress! Good food! Loved that they offer halal options. I tried the spicy chicken (halal) and it came with plain rice. Level 5 was not too spicy for me but that could be the plain rice balancing it out. Also tried the mango salad, it was nice, refreshing but not sweet. We were seated far from others and obviously had to show vaccine proof and answer a questionnare. It is on second level, but theres an elevator for those who need it. Definitely recommend would go again!

Food is okay, not authentic. ✅Thai iced tea 2.5/5 too sugary. ✅Wuton soup 3/5 soup base is fine, wuton is not great. ✅Curry 4/5 the only ones we loved. ✅Mango Chicken 3.5/5 not much chicken, mango is raw and lack of flavor. Recommend 1 chili since 3 is too spicy! Always crowded with tons of people even not during peak hours. Good thing it has a lot of seats so never wait longer than 5min. Very delicious, affordable Thai food. Portions are huge and we couldn't finish them. The attitude of the waiter should be improved. Other than that, a great experience. - Satay Beef as the starter was a good option with a delicious marinate. - Siam Noodles was really good with its peanut sauce. - Chicken Ball Fried Rice was also good. I liked the rice more than the balls. I am not sure what spices were used in the rice, but they made it yummy. All in all, one of my favorites with its affordable prices.

Excellent food, service, and atmosphere. The phud Thai, deep fried squid with chili-honey dip (so good), and hot and sour soup were all excellent. They allow you to choose your spice level between 1 and 20. I tried the level 20 and it was definitely very hot, but still had excellent flavour. It wasn't hot just for the sake of being hot, but complimented the food. I would suggest level 10 for someone with a decent spice comfort level.

Amazing Thai restaurant in the heart of the city. On the second level opposite Ryerson Uni. They have the best noodles in the secret menu(not mentioned in the real menu) -ask for Islamic Noodles. It’s heavenly, I always order extra sauce when I get takeout as you can’t have enough of it.

Although I had been here many times before, I hadn’t added a review. The menu selection is excellent, portions are generous, and the taste is so good. We had the mango chicken and the golden curry with shrimps. To drink, Shinga beer. Highly recommended!!

We went to Salad King after many years and the food brought back so many memories. The food is amazing and we both got the Thai Islamic Noodles. Service is fast and very efficient, but we always feel rushed there. Their turnover of customers is always so quick. Mind you, it is a student spot so this makes sense. Regardless, this restaurant has the best Thai food and it is well worth it!

Fast, clean, and at a decent price The food has lots of flavors and is fresh. You can choose the level of spice. We tried the chicken and rice. The portion is an okay size, if you are really hungry then one meal might not fill you up.

The Thai basil was good, with just the right amount of spice but I thought the chicken was really bland abd chewy. I would try it again but with shrimp.

Good place with decent customer service. I tried Mango salad and Islamic noodles. Islamic noodles is off the menu but highly recommended. They are creamy and delicious. The portion size is good enough for 2 people as well. I really like the spice level marker they have which can help you to best decide the spice level in the food.

Let's just say the food was tolerable and kinder to my wallet by a couple of dollars. The tom kha soup was definitely not the kind of tom kha soup I would have expected them to serve. The soup was too sour and there was no hint of coconut milk in it. The basil chicken I ordered was anything but a stir fry. Too watery and too sweet to my taste. At this point I feel all the 4/5 stars are bought or maybe from overzealous underexposed students who are looking for a quick/ cheap bite. Salad King needs to gear up if they don't want to be just a reasonably price place that serves to the student population. The staff members can be a little friendlier. I have eaten Thai all over the world including at several places in Thailand. Restaurants such as Koi Lipe, Suko Thai, Khao San and Pai in Toronto definitely live up to those standards.

This is my favourite thai place of all time. The chicken pad thai is flavourful and they give you large portions perfect for sharing. Service is always friendly and the location is central if you are looking for dinner after work.

Salad King is a must-visit Thai restaurant for anyone looking for a delicious and satisfying meal. The quick service is unparalleled, with friendly and attentive staff who ensure that you receive your food in a timely manner. The food itself is perfectly cooked and seasoned to perfection, with a wide range of flavors and spices that will tantalize your taste buds. From the fragrant and spicy tom yum soup to the sweet and tangy Pad Thai noodles, there's something for everyone on the menu. What sets Salad King apart from other Thai restaurants is the attention to detail in every dish. The ingredients are always fresh and of the highest quality, resulting in a burst of flavor in every bite. The presentation of the food is also top-notch, making it an enjoyable experience for all of your senses. Overall, I highly recommend Salad King for anyone looking for a great Thai meal. The quick service, perfectly cooked and flavored food, and attentive staff make it a top-notch dining experience. Whether you're in the mood for a quick bite or a full meal, Salad King is the place to be.

I got the Islamic Noodles and they were delicious! It was $17 before tax (for one person), but I would say it’s worth it because the portions are huge. I got it with a spice level of 3 but it wasn’t spicy at all, so next time I would probably try 5 or 6. The server named Mina was very sweet and she kept checking up on us! She even gave us a little bowl of the spicy sauce to add to our noodles. Overall I had a great time here and I would recommend this place!

This is one of our favourite restaurants and we’ve been coming here for almost 20 years (newer location). The food is amazing. Our go to is spring rolls to start and I usually have the aphid Thai and my husband love the golden curry chicken. These are the best spring rolls ever and the sauce that comes with it is awesome. Great portions perfect for sharing or doggie bag it - tastes just as good the next day.

Highly highly recommend Salad King for their Thai eats - specifically their stir fried noodles. I always get the Siam noodles - it’s the perfect combination of creamy, savoury and slightly sweet and nutty from the peanuts. Absolutely a treat every time I get it. This time I wanted to tried their Islamic noodles because of other reviews highly recommending it. While it was creamy and decent, I still would recommend the Siam noodles. I felt as though it lacked the dimensionality i expected it to have - it fell short of flavours I was expecting and was a bit bland. Service is quick. Although appetizers always come out after the entrees in my previous experiences. Just something I’ve noticed since it should be the other way around.

Fresh and delicious mango salad, amongst all the Thai places I like this one the best for mango salad as it’s without onions and has some sort of mango syrup/ sauce on top. Plus the lettuce and tomatoes balance out the sweet sour mango. Love the food and the efficient service in delivery. They make Vegan / Vegetarian food which is so delicious. Love the special card sent today( 15th December 2021) Good food which suits all palates. Spice level from 0 to extra extra hot. The Golden Thai curry served with rice was flavourful rich and creamy. The Bangkok stir fry was light and airy with crunch peanuts. Just wished they hadn’t forgotten the extra chilli oil and hot sauce. The food stays well and tastes quite good despite the fact that it comes in half hour or so. Good place to have take outs.

Lots of seating, and great food with spicy options that can get pretty hot. Lots of vegetarian options. Great for ryerson students as they offer student discounts. Below is a pic of their rice pudding. Give this place a 4/5 been here many times love the ambiance

Been here many times before and during pandemic, dine in and takeouts but it’s always been amazing! My personal favourite is the “secret menu” Thai Islamic Noodles with its creamy spicy sauce, and occasionally the different curries with pyramid rice. The Thai Iced Tea is also super yummy, seems authentic since it has the deep orange shade. Overall, always top notch place.

Awesome food, Superb Service, If you think you can handle spicy go for it or else just don't go very spice level 3. The staff helped us with the booth seats and made our travel worth it. Customer Service was great. I wish they had a few more drink options.

Loved this place as an undergrad and still love this place now! Fantastic portions, decent pricing, quick service, and great tasting dishes! Especially enjoyed all the curry options (Green, Golden, and Panang) and the chicken/beef satay skewers--that peanut sauce is to die for!! Highly recommended for anyone craving Thai food while hanging around the DT core. P.S.: if you can't handle spice, don't go over 3 🌶️. If you're adventurous like me, go for 10+ 🌶️. If you aspire to be a fire-breathing dragon, go for their highest level, 20 🌶️. You have been warned lol.

Excellent pad Thai, best I've had in Toronto. Perfect balance of flavours, meat cooked very well. Generous serving sizes and reasonable prices, especially given the location, very affordable beer and a awesome student discount in September. Clean interior and bathrooms with excellent service. If you're vegan, GF or keep halal most of their main dishes can be accommodated for you.

This is my go-to place since I've started working downtown. The service is quick and the food is tasty. I always get the islamic noodles with a 5 chilli spice level with shrimp. The 5 spice chilli level is perfect for me. Not too mild but not burning hot either. It's perfectly balanced between flavour and spice. I recommend this place as prices are reasonable and the food is excellent :)

Been dining here a couple times; the green curry was delicious! This time I got the Phud Thai, with 7 chilies — be careful, if you're not good with spicy food then I suggest get the non-spicy one or maybe 1/2 chilies. I love spicy food and this is a perfect heat for me. The sauce was tasty and savory with hints of sourness and strong cilantro taste. I also got the mango sticky rice, it was good, but I expect the mangoes to be a tad sweeter.

Overall good experience. The fried chicken was good but I am not a fan of the kao soi and pad thai we ordered unfortunately. With plenty of great thai places around, I can't help but to compare and it is not even close. Pricing is on the cheaper end and overall is solid though.

This was a hidden gem for me; Right in the downtown area with reasonable prices, amazing service, and a cool ambience. The food served here was some of the best Thai food I have had as well. Just keep in mind that saying medium hot here will still get you something that most people would find really spicy.

Wow on how long an order takes to prepare. I understand these are trying times. I get it takes longer for an order to go through. 2 hours is insane. Your food isn't worth that much of a wait. If you can't fulfil orders don't grab the cash and make a customer wait 2 hours for your food. This is fast food.. maybe a little better. It's not food that's worth 2 hours. A little thing you should consider, no one wants to wait 2 hours to wait. Will never order and will spread the word about the horrible service. If you are hungry go with someone else. At least you can get the food on time. If you are willing to wait hours for your food still go with another restaurant.

Excellent Thai food, friendly service and a nice dining room with great prices. A fantastic Thai restaurant with a great menu and a decent set of gluten-free options for a celiac sufferer like me. I was limited in my choice of gluten-free starters.

Right near Eaton centre lies this gem! Service is friendly and fast. Got the chicken thai, I'm not sure if this time was an outlier but it was quite sour and only sour. Usually pad thai is a combination of sour sweet salty and spicy.

By far my favourite place to eat in Toronto. Great food. Handy location and reasonably priced for the City. Pattaya Chicken and Green Curry are my go to Mains.

  • 4/5 Emil J. 2 years ago on Google
Been coming here since the university days, so I have a soft spot Salad King. Now that there are so many more Thai options downtown, it’s not my go-to but I still crave a rice dish or pad Thai here and there. I was a little disappointed with the ‘secret menu’ Islamic noodles; the sauce was watery and flavour a little bland. But for the portion, price, and all the chillies you can handle, I hope Salad King continues to fuel the students of tomorrow 🌶

we ordered Phud Thai, Kari Noodles, crispy spring rolls, wontons, sticky rice and shrimp fried rice. I recommend you do get the crispy spring rolls (super crispy and tasty) and of course, do not forget the sweet and sour sauce! The Kari noodles is also a recommendation. Not too spicy and the curry taste is not too strong. just enough to satisfy your craving for a curry noodle. I would also suggest that you get the fried rice, doesn't matter what you want with it. The shrimp, for me, is heavily battered. I tlooks like it has more batter than shrimp. The chicken wontions are the usual fried wontons. Better get the spring roll if you were to choose between the two. The sticky rice is not what I expected. the rice kinda tastes bland for me. I was looking for more sweetness to balance the sour taste of the mango. Plus points to the servers especially the lady with a high pitched voice. Very accommodating and always smiling.

Love the food here! One of my go to Thai restaurants! Definitely a casual type restaurant, service was good, food came out quick. In and out within an hour. Would recommend this place for a quick and tasty bite!

Been here twice already! The ambience is casual but classy, and the food is amazing! The Kari noodles(couldn't take a picture cause we dug in and finished it before I could get the cam out) ;) ... But they were amazing - unusual and super delicious! The chicken satay comes along with this chunky peanut sauce and the wantons were 2 appetizers you have to try! The Khao SOI is also pretty good! Basically their menu won't disappoint! Staff was sweet and the restaurant prices are amazing for the food and quality! Definitely recommend it to everyone!

2/5 I had the sea queen and a Thai milk tea. The cook on the squid was cooked, but the squid was like half breaded. The sauce was basically watered down honey garlic sauce, the raw lettuce serves 0 purpose in the dish, and the one chili beside the dish name on the menu is fraudulent. The Thai milk tea was fine, but I've had better and I think it could've done with a bit of sweetening. A couple other people I was eating with there also thought there were issues with the food, with complaints along the lines of there being too much filler ingredients or some things being overcooked. The service was pretty good though for a group as large as we had.

Great Location. Ample sitting options. Food was perfect. So was service but could be better. I would recommend choosing a less busy time for better dine in experience. We had the Spicy Beef Noodle Soup and Islamic noodle and Mango Salad and Street Noodle with 20 chillies spice level.

The place is beautifully decorated. It's tucked away on the first floor, so it provides a nice overview of the street. The staff were friendly and attentive. The food was tasty and filling. It's rare to eat a meal at a restaurant and feel like I'm about to burst. All things considered, the price was very reasonable. It's a must to visit. For the food I ordered, it's crispy spring rolls and orange beef.

  • 5/5 Tara K. 8 months ago on Google
I can't think of many places that have consistently served such delicious food for decade after decade! For over 30 years, I have enjoyed the Phud Thai noodles, and they haven't changed a bit. Amazingly fresh and delicious - and of course, you can customize your spice level. The staff are so friendly and attentive and are always one step ahead of you - water at your table before you ask for it, same with napkins and cutlery. So many people visit here and order their favourite dish over and over - but it's a great idea to dine here with friends to share and try other dishes. The Siam Fried Rice is another star dish - with just the right amount of pineapple to add a sweet touch. Explore the menu - you'll love it!

Consistenty good food in a fun setting. Located on the first floor in a building right across Toronto Metropolitan University on Yonge St. Everything we tried was delicious! We loved the Kari noodles, pad Thai, spring rolls, panang curry & Thai fried rice. As it’s directly off the main road, there isn’t any street parking in front. Don’t miss this place 👍

As a vegetarian, I always appreciate when restaurants have a good selection of meatless options, and Salad King did not disappoint. From the flavorful curries to the perfectly cooked stir-fried vegetables, each dish was bursting with flavor and packed with fresh, wholesome ingredients. I especially loved the tofu, which was perfectly seasoned and grilled to perfection. While the food was certainly the highlight of the meal, the quality of service was also notable. Our server was friendly and attentive, and made sure that our water glasses were always full and our needs were met. However, it did feel like he was in a bit of a rush, as he rushed to take our orders on a limited diners. Despite this minor issue, I would highly recommend Salad King to any veggie lover looking for a delicious meal. With its fresh, flavorful food and attentive service, it is a standout dining experience that is sure to please.

Service was exceptional. My first time having Thai food, I found the food decent. They were pretty honest about which stuff is halal so that's a good thing. I will come back again for sure :)
