We had a great anniversary dinner a couple of weeks ago at Batifole. The ambiance was very nice and the service was among the very best we ever had. The food was very good, all the dishes were nicely presented, full of flavours and some very original. The scallops' appetizer was amazing as well as the escargot and eggplant mousse. The Guinea fowl and the duck main dishes as well as the beef tartar as a main were absolutely delicious! The only disappointment (hence my 4 star rating) was the steak - all the sides were great but the steak (ordered medium rare) was rare at best, and (not sure if because of preparation or the meat itself) at every bite I had the last little bit that cannot be chewed. To end on a good note, the desserts were again great - we had a Chambord soufflé, two tarts and the chocolate warm cake were all great. Again, the service, including a visit from Chef were amazing and I wouldn't hesitate to come back here to try other dishes or to recommend this to everyone looking for a nice night out!

An incredible experience. Pascal and his team really have a way to make you feel welcome and to share their passion for great food and wine. The service is amazing, and the quality of the food is the best you can find in the city. Also, take a look at the pictures, the presentation is as good as the taste. As a French person, I felt I was back home for an evening. Thank you. I’ll be back for sure.

Absolutely delicious. Although I am no pro in French cuisine, the food here was skillfully executed with lots of love and experience. The fresh in house made bread to the apricot with duck leg to the richly bodied demi glace sauce, nothing was bad. A hidden little gem in old Chinatown. The chef and servers have something real and amazing going on here.

4.8/5 Fantastic meal! The food is excellent and the host and server couldn’t have been more pleasant. We started with the Cassolette d’Escargots and Tartare De Boeuf which were both tasty. The escargots come in a soup which wasn’t my favourite, but otherwise, both were great picks. For mains, we tried the Fish of the day (red snapper) and the Hanger Steak. Both wonderful dishes with such great flavours and textures. For dessert, we chose the Tarte Tatin which was also very delicious. The chef came out to greet guests mid evening which was a nice gesture. The servers were also very hospitable and did everything possible to make our meal a pleasant one. Overall, it was an exceptional experience. We will definitely be back!

Had a really great time here. Perfect little restaurant that isn't too crowded. Food was delicious although the fish of the day was a little dry. The duck was scrumptious and would definitely go back just to order that. Cocktails were tasty and creative. Perfect for a date night!

This place is by far one of the most authentic and delicious restaurants in Toronto. A very rare gem that actually sells genuinely good food for a good price with people that actually care about your experience. I really felt like I was back in France with the creative decor around me and hearing the waitresses speak to each other in French. The food was mouthwatering and I never thought I could ever taste something so good on Toronto. The appetizers were beautiful and delicious, and the cassoulet was absolutely to die for. The soufflé felt like I was eating a cloud straight from heaven. I feel like 5 stars is not nearly enough to do this place justice.

Amazing experience! Having been to France on a semi-regular basis, the only thing that would make this place more authentic would be if the tables were moved closer together (as per the European standard). The owner is lovely, and the chef is both talented and engaging. Absolutely great value for the money in terms of what you get in both the food, and overall experience.

It is one of my favourite places in the entire city. It’s close to my house so I go often with my husband and we’ve never had a bad meal or time. Our last visit we shared the cassoulet, tartar, cheese plate, potatoes au gratin and chambord soufflé. I drank a perfectly balance French martini. The style of service is laid back with experience. Chef came out to say hello and see how our meal was, as always, and had a wonderful chat with us. We highly recommend❤️

Could not have had a better evening dining out at Batifole last night. There is a reason why this place has been around for so long. Chef came out to say hi to some regulars and then also took the time to greet us too. My cuisse de canard confite was perfection. Crispy skin, meat tender and moist, the outside of the potato gallette nice and crunchy even though it was sitting atop a rich gravy. Friend ordered the catch of the day which was a John Dory. Presentation was beautiful, with a topping that must have needed surgical type precision. Other friend ordered apps. The fries are nice and crispy on the outside and so soft inside. Again, perfection. Her soup and salad looked good but didn't try. Wait staff could not have more welcoming, more professional or efficient. Love Batifole! Will be going back and taking the fiance, my mom and anyone else who will come with me :)

Just happened to pass by this little French bistro and I'm so happy we did! Casual and classic French dining. They have a cute little patio. I recommend you make reservations. This is not the place to come to if you're in a hurry. This is the place you come to when you want to slowly enjoy and give yourself a bit of a breather in between courses. The servers were lovely and knew the menu well. They checked on us regularly! Everything was so good! We may have over ordered but I suppose that's what happens when almost everything on the menu appeals to you. Can't wait to go back! We had: • Pan Seared Scallops: served with fennel compote, lemongrass hollancaise - large scallops and oh so delicious! • Cassolette d’Escargots: pan seared escargots, vegetable brunoise, amaretto & cream served with crostini - loved that it was saucy so that we could dip our bread into it and enjoy every last bit. • Country Style Paté served with crostini - great taste and texture. • Truffle Zucchini Royale: topped with smoked eel tartare - really enjoyed the different textures of this dish. • Cassoulet Royal: Rustic baked white beans, duck confit, pork sausage & pork belly - heavier and richer than we had anticipated. Good thing we were all sharing. Every last bit was enjoyed. • Cuisse de Canard Confite: Confit duck leg & sliced duck breast with potato gallette & caramelized apple sauce - well prepared, not overly salty or dry. • Angus Hanger Steak: Served with potato mousseline, bordelaise sauce - we couldn't get over how good the sauce was! • Soufflé au Grand Marnier - be sure to save room for dessert. This is a must try! • Lemon and raspberry tart - simple and fresh.

Absolutely delicious! Such a cute local French restaurant on the east end of Toronto. The dishes were flavourful and well prepared. Love the friendly staff and when the chef came out to say hello and check how we were doing. I would come back to try the other items on the menu.

A quaint, wonderful bistro. As soon as you step in, your transported to France. The service and food is impeccable and we even got a visit from the Chef after our meal. Highly recommend!

The best French restaurant I have been to! The food was delicious especially the cuisse de canard confite. The desserts were also all delicious. I loved the soufflé. Service was good and ambience was nice too.

Fantastic, unpretentious, delicious. We arrived as a party of 5 and we were treated very well by the server, who was able to recommend a number of great dishes. I had the duck confit leg and breast, which was stellar. Cooked perfectly and perched on a lovely potato galette. My friends ordered the beef tartare (excellent), the scallops(perfectly cooked and delicious), the top sirloin steak (also cooked perfectly and delicious), and the fries (out of this world!!). As we were wrapping up the meal, the chef visited every table to say hello and ask about the meal. This brought our evening to a very satisfying close and we all agreed that Batifole is one of the best restaurants on the east side. If you know, you know ;)

Tremendous! Enjoyed a beautiful romantic dinner here last night with my partner. These guys are going above and beyond. The chef is a gangster and greeted patrons throughout the dinner service to ask “how is everything tasting this evening?” - So classy and European! We started off with the soup of the day, cauliflower bisque. As well as the escargot and the steak tartar. They were all excellent. The escargot was very special. Chef does it in a bowl with a creamy bisque, it’s full of buttery melt in your mouth flavourful goodness. Best escargot in the city no doubt. Steak tartar was full of flavour, I enjoy when they put mustards and extras in. This one was loaded. All apps were served with delicious crostini’s. For the mains we went for the duck confit and the steak/mash. The duck confit is officially our favourite dish in Toronto. Served on top of a potato pancake sitting in a sweet apple/duck gravy and with crispy duck bacon like bits on top we died and went to heaven last night. There were some deliciously cooked apples as well. Absolutely phenomenal. Our server was a sweetheart and also introduced us to a new lovely cocktail that I forget the name of. French rose, gin, simple syrup and a little lemon. So tasty! Can’t wait to try the foie gras next time. Thanks for a world class dinning experience to the best of Toronto! We love you Batifole!

Just came back from France so decided on a French Bistro! Turns out the chef is from Avignon where we visited. Food was excellent, staff was also excellent and it was quiet and very nice. Cassoulet, pan fried scallops, seafood ceviche, beef tartar.....and whatever the Lobster dish was were all excellent as was the wine. Definitely will go back.

#Batifole is a favorite French restaurant of my husband, so we had to visit there. He lived in Paris for a couple years so it was nice to experience a tiny bit of what he loved, the cuisine. We met his daughter at the restaurant as well. The three of us started with Kir Royale drinks, a welcome drink. Food started with house made bread, and French butter. We also ordered a delicious chef soup #tomatoGarlicGazpacho which was amazing, and #AssiettesDeFromage a selection of French cheeses which were yummy. For mains we enjoyed #CuisseDeCanardConfite Duck leg confit and sliced duck breast on top of a potato galette, served with caramelized peach sauce. So tasty, great complimentary flavors. The Duck was cooked perfectly. We also enjoyed a hearty #CassouletRoyal Rustic baked white beans, 1/2 duck leg confit, homemade pork sausage, and pork belly. It was nice, warm, and inviting. The Cassoulet had great tomato flavor with fantastic meats that melted in my mouth. The homemade sausage had a lot of flavor. For desserts we enjoyed a beautiful, rich, sublime #ChocolateDelice Chocolate mousse and Breton biscuit, chocolate and caramel glaze. We also waited the 30 minutes to enjoy, a first for me, #GrandMarnierSoufflé It was Delicious simplicity and superbly executed. Amazing is all I can say about the Soufflé. The service was amazing, the food was top of its class, the company exquisite. I see why my husband enjoyed his time in France and loved the cuisine. We don’t know why Michelin has over looked Batifole Gourmand we can’t recommend it enough. We do appreciate that we can still easily make a reservation and eat at this wonderful, intimate Bistro.

Tried this place for the first time. Ordered their classic cocktail, escargot, scallops, pork cheek, steak/marrow and souffle. The food is good but very heavy/rich. I wish it was a bit finer and lighter in taste. Very different from what I had in Paris. Service was good, servers explained the menu and always came to check on us, even the chef came out! I personally found the souffle too sweet, I wish they had a creme brulee. Again, just a personal taste.

We were invited to a birthday celebration here. Our first visit was a great one. We weren't too hungry to we didn't order much but everything we ate was delicious. I can't say enough about the soufflé...this is a must try! We'll be back here again for sure. If you're in the neighbourhood you should check them out! Great French cuisine.

We had such a wonderful meal here last night. We had the Pink 75 cocktail, scallops, duck confit, hanger steak with bone marrow, and a delightful quince tart to finish. The service was warm & inviting. The table next to us were clearly regulars, and they leaned over to share their frites with us, as we hadn’t ordered them! So nice! They are a must try for our next visit. The chef came out a few times to see how everyone was enjoying their meals. As we left we made another reservation to return after their Christmas break.

Classic French bistro fare, everything was very tasty. I would 100% recommend for anyone craving authentic French food. One note is that the wine list is very limited and they do not allow corkage, this was a bit of a bummer since the food deserves better wine.
