Disappointed!!! I had great experience at this place before the pandemic but the quality and service dropped. I am not comparing here with other restaurants (FYI) Anyways, hope they can make everything better again. I got ceviche for starter which was average and Rib steak for main. The Rib Steak was really bad, and this is not acceptable from this restaurant with this price. It was not tender, not tasty at all. No comments on the dessert. Hope to come back again.

BIG SHOUT OUT TO BECKA! Becka, you made our night so memorable I can’t thank you enough! Much love from the Mississauga boys! The service here is absolutely second to none! The atmosphere is so adaptive to your personality which is hard to describe but when you come here you will understand. The food here is incredible! The humus dip is definitely worth a round two! I highly reccomend coming here!

The experience here was amazing!! The food, the staff, the service, the waiting times, everything was perfect 👌🏻 Even the music was lovely. I don't regret to have celebrated my birthday here. After dining, we went to the rooftop, which is great as well. The only negative was we had reserved a table in the rooftop in advance and once there, we were told our table was reserved on the first floor. 😒 More than that, exquisite place!!

Extremely nice atmosphere, pretty, clean, stylish, and isn't too loud. Menu is full of unique dishes and and encourages shared plates which is nice. However, it is quite pricey for how much food you get. Definitely a place to go, maybe if you're only medium hungry though

I really enjoyed the atmosphere here. It can get pretty busy but with a reservation you shouldn’t have any issues. The food was OK. Not the best however, the staff were nice enough to accommodate the price for this which I greatly appreciate. The menu is nice and simple for brunch and the quality of the food seems to be great. Pricing is also add a good rate with a highly recommend checking it out.

I was craving South American food, and thought I’d try this place. I was not disappointed. Service was slow at first 15 minutes but later it got better. my server was friendly, super helpful on helping me decide what to order. Food flavours are well balanced, great pairing with their cocktail. I enjoyed the food a lot and even more so I was in awe with the pastry chef herself and her creations, make sure you save some room for desserts.

The food is delicious, the drinks are strong, the vibe is energetic & the aesthetic is very unique! However, they could improve portion sizes based on the high pricing. I would definitely recommend trying this place out if you enjoy the King St. scene :)

Baro was great! I enjoyed the Octopus, Beef Tartare, and Duck Fried Rice (although the bottom of the rice does get burned and hard to chew at the bottom of the stone bowl) The only downside was that they gave us tequila shots that were extremely watered down. Could barely taste any alcohol.

Amazing ambience ! The food was authentic & flavourful! The staff were attentive, funny and warm. The cocktails are delicious along with the churros for dessert ! Only downside are the prices...slightly overpriced.

Baro Rooftop was the area that was available at the moment due to Covid. Well the ambience was classy and pretty! Love the colours and the style. The staff were friendly and kind. There are huge flex shields between each table. The food was good enough for one person even if it says share. But overall had a fun time and enjoy the place.

First time here on a Friday night and we were easily able to get a table. Our waiter Sebastian was absolutely incredible, he was able to make food recommendations, explain what menu items were, and was consistently checking in on us and topping up our water. The cocktails were delicious and looked beautiful! The food came out relatively quick, the guacamole with chips was so good. When the mains came out they explained what was in the dish and presented it so beautifully. The chicken was delicious with super fresh potatoes. & The duck fried rice is their most popular menu item, and rightfully so as it was so delicious and huge! Everything on their menu is definitely meant to be shared. I would definitely come back, the music was at a perfect level, everything was modern and clean, and the service was spectacular!

The atmosphere is nice but everything is super pricy yet the place is not high end. The food is good but very very spicy; EVERY meal is spicy. Also every meal is super small and even main dishes don’t come with sides. For example, 3 king shrimps for $40 were served with a spicy sauce, no rise or salad. I liked the music and the patio but I guess it’s just an expensive bar, not a place to eat.

Honestly should be 5 because the food was unreal kitchen kicked these dishes out of the park, but server was a typical 6/10 king west server. Just doesn't get how hospitality works and how to carter an experience for guest. Outside of being missed for last call and desserts on my date which sucks. Everyone else was great cocktails were good paid a reasonable amount for food drinks but quality was there and would recommend going earlier and maybe sitting at the bar.

Great food! If you are looking for a nice place for a brunch Baro is a great choice. Make sure you get your reservation ahead of time as it gets very busy . They also have roof top patio, but it was close when I was there as it was a rainy day.

Delicious brunch! The Chori Papa was so flavourful and great value (comes with 6 tortillas and I couldn’t even finish it all in one meal). Will return to try the other dishes.

Their hummus with Pita bread is the best I have had! The grilled stuff is really good as well, I tried the chicken. The staff is helpful and interested in you having a good time. Not much of a drinker, but pretty decent cocktails, from the little that I explored. John was able to whip up really good non alcoholic mocktails as well upon request. The music is top notch! Bumping, but not loud. All of this in a great ambience. Been there thrice now and I am a fan!

Come here for the patio and 'gram, not the food or drinks. Everything we ordered was super expensive and not the most memorable. $6 for a guacamole dip! However I acknowledge that we were paying for the experience. Great place to chill on a weekend with friends. One thing to note is that our server was pretty rude. It also took a very long time for our food to start coming out, and we were one of the first ones in.

A very aesthetic brunch, especially on the rooftop patio! I really enjoyed the waffles and my Bogotá sour, but I found the sangria gel flat and I wish the shakshuka was less runny. But overall a decent brunch spot with friendly service!

Struck by how engaged all the staff were with us. Hosts were cheerful and found us a seat, on a busy Saturday night. The bartenders were fantastic. Talking with us, while creating some amazing drinks. The genuine, thanks for coming it was great having you here tonight, was the icing on the cake. Fantastic! Thank you!!!

Service is great, although the food we tried were a bit too sour (tried their special fish of the day - tiger fish). The confit duck rice bowl was unique and quite enjoyable.

I’ve been to Baro quite a few times now for drinks, brunch, as well as dinner. I’ve always had a positive experience, including my visit yesterday for a Valentine’s Day dinner. I sat up at their heated patio on the fourth floor. It has a dimly lit atmosphere and it was quite warm. One thing to note is that some tables are directly underneath a diffuser above and you’ll feel a consistent draft of air down at you. It’s definitely noticeable, but you get used to it I guess. The tables are also really close together and it was hard for me to get in through the small gap between our table and the next one over for me to sit down at the booth at the back wall. When the server attended to the table beside us he even nudged the lamp that was on our table. Conversation-wise, you’re definitely going to hear what the group or table next to you is talking about whether you want to or not. Had the jackfruit empanadas as well as the grande mac empanadas. The empanadas are a nice texture - I’d say more so with the grande mac ones that we got compared to the jackfruit empanadas which had a more chewy/ tough shell. The grande mac empanadas were a softer and flakier. That grande mac dish is a really fun concept for a dish to elevate a really recognizable fast food item (McDonald’s Big Mac). The grilled octopus was cooked perfectly and had a nice char to them. The OG duck chaufa was nice. I was hoping it would get more crispy rice bits but it was nice regardless. The pollo asado was also well cooked and flavourful. I had the alaska dessert special and can’t say I was a big fan of it. The base was super tough and hard to cut through when you try to get a bite that includes every layer. It seems like a dish that’s prepared in advance and kept refrigerated and maybe just garnished with the pistachios and they torch the meringue to order. The base was just really tough maybe from how long it gets refrigerated because it softens up the longer you let it acclimate to room temp. I also found it on the sweeter side for my taste. Drinks-wise, they were okay i’d say. I got the El Pátron. flavour was good. However, it really gets in the way of drinking when you have multiple ice cubes rushing to your face whenever you try to take a sip. I wonder if it could just be one large ice cube to keep the drink the proper temp. I ordered a Dos Equis beer as well which came pretty late - noticed other people getting their beers/ drinks before me despite me ordering before them and seemed like it got forgotten. Overall, it was a good experience.

If I can give this, place 20 out of 10 ratings I will. my friends surprised me with a birthday dinner in this place and our server and her manager February 3 Saturday was exceptional. She was knowledgable about the menu , made sure that we know the specials that aren't on the menu. Gave us complementary drinks and shots. They even have a signage for me for our table and informed us how much time we have left in our table, that is vital just because they have strict policy regarding table times but it's understandable I think as long as our server realistically, give us what's expected of us as well plus, the good service everything went mostly. We asked if there's any good karaoke recommendation around the area and they have a sister company, our server tried to get us a room but theywere fully booked since we are asking last minute . Its a bit hard to find parking but there are underground available impark parking which was 20$ from 6pm to 6am. We just love that our server was exceptional and tried to give us a good and memorable time. Even front desk were very thoughtful and mindful about the surprise. good music and vibes from this place. FOOD WAS AMAZINGG i love the the featured duck dish that was v popular. Their fish feature were amazing as well. Everythng here is great. I wish to come back again ! Thank you to our server AMALIYA and to everyone that night

Great food, great service and great atmosphere. We went to Baro with high expectations and was not disappointed. We had for appetizers: Ceviche De Atun, Albondigas, main: OG Duck Chaufa-ita, Pulpo a la Parilla and dessert: Churros and Chocoflan. If I was to choose one dish that really stood out, it would be the Ceviche. Its was absolutely sensational!!. We went for winterlicious so it appears that their traditional menu is different from the winterlicious menu. But it was all good. It's definitely worth going back; They've joined my list of restaurants I'd go back to.

Delish brunch with a cute covered rooftop patio! The food was super fresh and flavourful. It also had decent sized portions! Cocktails were good (got the spritz) but only complaint was the watermelon juice tasted like nothing and was probably watered down 🤧

We were up on the roof patio for dinner and the atmosphere is pretty cool. They had a DJ playing tunes to keep everyone entertained and the staff were friendly. The food is good although it is a bit pricey for what you get but this is King St. West so likely expected. One thing to note, the burger is only a burger. No sides. And $20. So keep that in mind if you're really hungry as you might want to order something else to go with it. Will definitely try and come again when I'm in the area.

Baro is a great spot if you want a lively location with shareable plates and good drinks. Their prices are pretty elevated for the size of their plates and drinks, but I definitely still recommend it. The food is very flavourful. I really enjoyed my time here and feel free to ask for your waitress’s recommendation. Louisa helped our entire table navigate the menu and facilitated the process. It was a pretty busy night for a Thursday but that didn’t stop her from going above and beyond to meet our requests.

This place is phenomenal and doing it right! Bang on customer service, ambience is on point, super trendy vibes and the food is top tier! Need to come back for dinner one day, happy hour was awesome. The Street Corn was the standout here, interestingly enough the Coconut Mai Tai tasted like Soursop, a nice surprise.

It was an amazing experience with my group of friends! Top tier ambiance, service, food, and experience 👌 we dined in, but I would love to come back and try the patio experience. The food was 5 stars. We got a variation of everything since it's sorta like tapas style food. Our waitresse was sweet and suggested amazing drinks 🍸. The interior design of this restaurant is a whole experience on its own. A great spot for a girl's night out, a date, solo, or a trying a new experience.

Went to celebrate our anniversary here, great experience in terms of service and the ambiance. We couldn't make a reservation so we did a walk in to their roof top area, which was pretty nice. Food was both good and bad. The jalapeño hummus and the ceviche was delish. The lamb skewers were good too. The beef ribs were quite over done to the point that you could barely take them apart. Overall our experience was good but would have loved the food to be a bit better. Our server was very sweet and checked up on us multiple times.

  • 4/5 Sheeva B. 6 months ago on Google
Loved the food We ordered the duck confit, which was sensational! Totally serves 2 people. The scallops were pretty and tasted ok. We had a birthday, and they offered a complimentary dessert with a candle, which was a sweet touch. The server was very good and overall I liked it a lot. First is the price range is high - quite King street-y Second is the patio/ roof garden was too crowded, loud, had a terrible view, with not such a pleasant smell and with a very limited menu, which was disappointing. That's why I'd recommend sitting in the loft.

Baro is a nice restaurant for special occasions, girls night out, for dinner and drinks. The food menu items have small shareable appetizers that are delicious, I loved the jackfruit empanadas. They were perfectly cooked, seasoned and the crust was crunchy, served with pickled onions and a green sauce. They chicken large platter was good, and the cocktails were delicious. The mushroom Mac and cheese was good, but it was stuck to the dish so it was hard to eat. Thank you for wonderful service!

We dined at Baro for brunch, and the food, drinks & service were amazing. We were celebrating our birthdays, and they allowed us to just vibe out. Both of our servers were great, and the transition from brunch to lunch was seamless. Definitely so be back with my family for them to experience great tasting food.

I’ve been here twice and it’s such a lovely place to enjoy. The food is always tasty! The first time I’ve I ever had ceviche and it was delicious! I loved their lamb, and the jalapeño hummus! I tried the jackfruit empanadas and it was very unique and tasty! The Mai Tais were so good! Little pricey but the food is delicious! The staff could be more personable and engaging Overall, I love it

I feel like I caught Baro on an off day because I’ve heard such great things but unfortunately I didn’t get to experience this much myself. The lovely ambiance and their ceviche was definitely the highlight. Beside this, I was quite disappointed. Their Market Price “Big A** Steak” was really tough and chewy. The cut of meat was cooked properly but the quality was not what you’d expect for the price. They did replace it with a MUCH better piece but all of our sides were completely cold by the time this happened & we were not offered fresh ones either. The rooftop was also accidentally opened for over ten minutes towards the end of our meal. As mentioned, this was an accident of course, but not something anyone wishes to experience during the winter. To top it off there was a long black hair packaged in our take-out. I have red hair, so disappointingly it was from the restaurant. Hopefully the next time I return the experience is more consistent with the positive reviews. Their ceviche alone will definitely bring me back for a second chance.

Quality food and service. Staff were very friendly too, and the place has really nice atmosphere. Good spot for group settings to share a meal. The reason I'm only giving it a 4 star instead of 5, is I felt some of the dishes flavours were wild / over the top. Maybe some people like this, but in some of the dishes, every other bite brought on a different sensation; some good and some not so good. I.e. the chocolate churro - some bites were ridiculous spicy and others not. The salad too, sweet, citric, and more. It just felt way over the top, like the chefs were trying to do much with a dish that could have tasted so much better if kept simple. The brussel sprouts were so good though, i highly recommend. So to get some dishes that are amazing and others that don't live up to those other great dishes, it leaves me a bit dissatisfied, especially considering the $ paid for all set dishes. They were not able to sub in dishes for some people who couldn't eat certain foods, but they did recommend adding extra different items for those few in the group. Overall I would reccommend Baro.

Great place for a theatre evening. We were at this place before a show at Roy Thomson and food is good too……….we had appetizers, main course and desert with a bottle of wine and paid a good bill too……,…. BUT We had two birthday people in our group and they brought out this desert with candles on it even though we never ordered or asked for it and then they were really kind enough😂to charge me for it. WHY?????

Loved, loved the food at Baro. My friend and I went for dinner and shared the dishes. Everything was so tasty and the portions were good enough. The waitress Jade was very attentive and friendly. The atmosphere was nice, although I have to say it gets loud, I think the music is good, but a tad loud so people speak very loud to hear each other. I would definitely go back.

I absolutely love this spot. This was my first time coming here. I visited Baro for a celebration and the ambience in this place is spectacular. There isn’t a large menu for food, but what they do offer is delicious. You enter the building and the setting already pops out at you then you go up onto an elevator and it opens up to a beautiful dining area. Perfect if you’re looking for a cute trendy and delicious restaurant. They also play great music. Staff was very kind and friendly as well as energetic. Great service. 10/10! Definitely recommend.

Food was great! The interior of the restaurant was gorgeous, servers were attentive and sweet! Upon reservation, you get to add an occasion of your choice and they had a little note waiting for us on the table! Thought that was super cute. The music was fire and i wanted to dance to every song playing! However it is pretty loud here during dinner hours as it has a bar/lounge type of vibe. My partner and I constantly had to yell over each other lol. So if you're looking for a quieter date night, this may not be the place for you. Other than that tho, Loved my experience here.

Fabulous dinner! The food is so yummy and the atmosphere is super eclectic accompanied by friendly and informative staff. Fun Fact: The guac served here is made in house and four time award winning! The menu changes often so every time you go you'll have a new experience.

Had an amazing time. My friend took me here for my birthday and we were served by the gorgeous and helpful Meredith. She explained the menu and gave us time to catch up. She was patient, available when needed but didn’t hover. She was super friendly and personable. My only critique is the chicken could have used more seasoning and the sauce lacked acid and salt. I was expecting at least two empanadas so to have one cut in half was quite disappointing but the Big Mac flavour was executed cleverly. The CGS was amazing! We ordered it twice. Will be back for the service alone!

Beautiful patio and picturesque food. The food is good, the yellowtail dish was the best out of what we ordered! The food is meant to share but the portions are very small. The sangria was so small and $36 for it being 80% ice which is pretty crazy. Our server acted like he didn’t want to be there taking our order. Come here for a beautiful patio but if you’re actually hungry I suggest go somewhere else!

A big shout out to our waiter Michael K, he delivered the perfect service to us, very kind and attentive, and everything he recommended was so delicious. Must try the duck fried rice and the chips with Guacamole! Best Guacamole ever. Will definitely come back again!

Impeccable! My first time at Baro and I am blown away at how incredible the staff and food was. My party was served by Sarah who really knew her menu and was very helpful when it came to figuring out dietary restrictions. The plates are suggested as shareable however with five people - we ordered three starters and one main dish to share and were already pretty full. The desserts were so beautiful! So happy we came here to celebrate our friend's baby shower. Can't wait to be back!

Very comfortable ambiance and seating. Open kitchen displaying professional cooks and spotless clean. Service is professional and friendly. Good assortment menu with small and large shared plates. Food was tasty and good quality. Dishes are on the pricey side. Lots of fun action on the fourth floor. Very busy and they don’t take reservations. Different menu I am planning on trying soon.

Most of the dishes were perfect for family style shared dining. So I would recommend coming with a group and trying a bit of everything. Came with 3 girlfriends and ordered a bunch of appetizers. Most of them had a decent spice level but were great. I love that the gauc also comes with plantain and toro chips- sooo good! Our server was lovely and attentive. The truffle fries were actually cornstarch fries so I think they are either a hit or miss for some people, personally I enjoyed it. The hummus was flavour but a little dry. Overall a lovely spot!

Baro, located in the heart of King West, is a restaurant that offers an exceptional experience for those seeking a trendy and vibrant atmosphere. The narrow rooftop patio provides a cozy and intimate setting, bathed in natural light, which adds to the overall ambiance of the place. The decor is tastefully done, creating a stylish and comfortable space for patrons to enjoy. Convenience is a plus at Baro, with parking options available nearby. However, opting for public transit or Uber is recommended due to limited parking availability in the area. Whether you're looking to celebrate a special occasion or gather with a small group of friends, Baro caters to a variety of occasions. The food at Baro is delicious, although some guests may find the portions slightly smaller than expected. Nevertheless, the flavors are on point, satisfying even the most discerning palates. The staff at Baro deserves special recognition for their exceptional service. They are friendly, attentive, and always ready to assist with any inquiries or recommendations. Undoubtedly, the highlight of my experience at Baro was DJ Eric Carver. His energetic sets kept the vibe alive throughout the evening, blending the latest music with R&B classics. Whether you're at Baro for drinks, a meal, or just to hang out with friends, DJ Eric Carver's talent and selection of tracks add an extra touch of excitement to the overall atmosphere. In conclusion, Baro is a fantastic spot for a memorable night out. With its prime location, inviting patio, delectable food, friendly staff, and the incredible presence of DJ Eric Carver, it's a must-visit destination for anyone looking to enjoy great company and an unforgettable experience.

First time at Baro and we ate on the rooftop! Ambiance is great, and service was very pleasant. The jalapeño hummus was spectacular, very spicy and the bread was hot and crispy. The feature menu item was a short rib with an arepa and it was very tasty but the portion size was a lot smaller than I expected especially since I told the server I would be sharing the item with a friend. I would love to come back and try their main restaurant menu. As a Peruvian myself this place has my seal of approval.
