The new Mezes is beautiful - spacious, modern classic, clean lines, and lots of light. Definite bonus points for the look and feel of the place. Now on to the food. Stopped by for lunch and got: - Kalamari: Easily the best fried kalamari in Greektown. Kalamari was sweet and not rubbery, batter was light and tasty on its own. - Small Kria Poikilia: Dips galore! Got the tzatziki, taramosalata, melitzanosalata and tappenade. All were smooth and tasty, and liked all of them except for the taramosalata (tasted almost potato-y to me). - Aegean Fare Special: Beef slivers and chicken chunks were tender and flavourful. Side Greek salad was a good size. - Greek Yogurt: Smooth and properly sour. Generous with the walnuts. - Chocolate Fig Baklava: Easily the best baklava I've had even if it is unit traditional. The chocolate and fig spread went perfectly with the walnuts and pastry. Service was friendly and efficient. Prices were reasonable and relatively on par with the rest of the street. And again, that beautiful new space. Mezes is a good spot even amidst the crowd of Greek restaurants in the area.

What a lovely place for authentic Greek food. We went here for lunch and ordered the whole fish which was sea bream for the day. Also ordered the humus bread for starter. The bread was nice and soft although a tad bit oily. The humus was delicious. The fish was perfectly done. We loved the barbecue flavour and it was so soft inside. However, we were hoping for a little larger fish as it felt too small for the two of us. I reckon it would be perfect for one person. The interior is light and traditionally decorated and it really enhances the experience. Food is pricey but good.

Nice atmosphere, authentic service, food is always top of the line and relatively well priced. Usually busy but never too long of a wait to be seated, don't feel rushed, and food comes fairly quick. If you like Greek cuisine this is a must visit. spot on the Danforth, and with patio.

Ever since we moved from Greece, for years I’ve been trying to find good authentic Greek food. It was a struggle until a Greek shop owner recommended this place and my mind was blown. I ordered the beef souvlaki dinner and my bf got the chicken souvlaki dinner. I asked for medium rare but more on the rare side, oh my god. It was AMAZING. My bf was stealing off my plate. The chicken was also done perfectly. It wasn’t dry, had a lot of flavor and we were impressed. Despite how busy it was, the servers were multitasking, taking our order and clearing plates as we finished each appetizer & dinner. Eating here brought back great memories from Greece. Everything from the rice, meat, sauces and flavors were perfect. Wish I could give them more stars 🤍

We have been coming to this restaurant for few decades. Now moved to a really modern and fresh location just east on Danforth. Wonderful place, friendly service and food ‘top of the Greek Town’. I am on Keto diet and I loved all the great things I could have. Healthy and so delicious. Go before the lines get too long.

Great place for an authentic delicious Greek family style dinner. Be sure to get there early to beat the rush. They do not take reservations. Super friendly and helpful staff. Great service and excellent meal and drinks. Highly recommend! Lamb chops were amazing!

The service here is top notch. The food arrives fast and hot, dishes are replaced instantly once finished, and the water does not stop flowing. The restaurant is lively and the prices are better than some of the competitors down the street. The fried calamari was truly excellent. The squid was abundant, juicy, and seasoned and fried perfectly. The Aegean Fare Special was loaded with savoury meats and veggies. Unfortunately the moussaka was dryer than I’d prefer. Overall, it was a 4.5 for me.

One of my favourite Greek restaurants on the Danforth, we’ve been back multiple times and loved it every time! We typically get some skewers, dips (their pita bread with the dips are THE BEST) & a salad. This time we opted out for the seafood platter, which was delicious full of shrimp, calamari and grilled octopus! It was good, but definitely a lot for 2 people!!

Delicious g, authentic and huge portions! Confident, efficient, no-frills service. Nice outdoor patio and the best moussaka in the area. Highly recommend.

Very loud place but food is amazingly delicious. Loved everything we ordered. Fish and eggplant feta dish is super delicious. Only Moussaka was very dry and didn’t taste as we wanted it to be.

been here one time before and the food is amazing! Saganaki and the chicken breast plate were so damn good! Other items ordered: lamb chop by piece, dolmades, grilled octopus. Our waiter did not smile once though and the service was so blah - not engagement or enthusiasm at all.

Absolutely the best Greek restaurant in town. We went all out and ordered the Greek salad, Greek fries and pork gyros. Delicious and the portion sizes were huge. The gyros were just like the ones served in Greece. It’s a must go to if you like Greek food. This place is quite popular so the line and wait times could be long, even near closing time.

Went there in a Sunday night, despite a 30 minutes wait for a table of 2, the food was nice and worthy ( nice salad, Souvlaki, and Moussaka). The new place is also much better than the old place around the corner (much brighter and more decorated, no more waiting on the street since they had a large indoor waiting space). One downside was that our waiter barely communicated with us, and we need to look for him for long. Might because that there were too many tables for him to handle and we were the only table-of-two sitting in between some large groups. Hope this could be improved in the future and will definitely come back again!

It is a lovely Greek restaurant with very European/Greek vibe and decor! I heard their fried calamari is a must, so we ordered it as an appetizer. It is honestly my favorite calamari in Toronto thus far, and they serve it in a huge portion! We also got the dip plater as an appetizer and it is good to order if you are a group of people! As for the main, I ordered the chicken souvlaki dinner. The potatoes are really good! Again, huge portions that I was not able to finish it but I did take it home and have it for lunch the next day, which is awesome! I’ll definitely come back again !!

This place is SO BUSY, but the waiters and waitress never stop tending to your needs! It was amazing ! The Greek salad was great, the stuffed pastries were so good too. The chicken souvlaki dinner was yummy. Finally, I'd definitely recommend the baklava as a dessert. I'd definitely check this place out in the summertime !!!

Mezes is definitely one of the best and most popular Greek restaurants in town. We have been there in several occasions and the food is always good at the least. You do get random inconsistencies, like for example, the last time the octopus was slightly overcooked; but, for the most part, everything was delicious. Usually, it has a very lively atmosphere but, it does get quite busy sometimes and it can become a little tight and hectic inside.

This restaurant is down to earth, offering really tasty dishes that don’t break the bank. We tried the lamb chops by the piece and loved them, and the Spanakopita was truly heavenly. However, the grilled calamari wasn’t as impressive. The portions are on the smaller side but not overly so, and the restaurant has a warm ambiance. The olive oil on the table was well noticed. We would definitely come back!

Restaurant is gorgeous! Always busy, but Sunday early dinner was only a 20 min wait. Servers are super busy so be clear when trying to get their attention or you’ll be waiting a long time. And they won’t give balsamic vinegar or oil automatically so be kind and ask! Attached are pics with reviews and prices

Amazing food, very welcoming and attentive service. Would recommend the eggplant and the dipping platter with pita. My dishes were fairly salty, but that's to be expected with a lot of feta. Definitely will be coming back.

Mezes felt like home, even though it was my first time eating there. The food was excellent, and the service was amazing! We sat in the patio, and it was perfect! Lovely place for dates or even brunch with friends!

This is not the old Mezes, its a few stores down on the corner. We got to eat on the patio, beautiful outdoor space. Crowded as usual. Fantastic service and delicious food. Ordered pork skewer on greek salad. Good flavours. Grilled veggies and stuffed peppers. The rice inside was missing a little umph - needed more flavour. Squeezing lemon on it helped enhance the flavours. Grilled quail with rice and potatoes. This is my go-to. Not many places have quail. Small little birds with rich meat. You got 2 whole quails but just know theyre small birds to begin with and theres a lot of work nibbling. But worth it.

Had an excellent dinner here. Came on a Saturday night at 6PM, so we waited 45 minutes for a table using the restaurant’s online wait service, which was super efficient and helpful. Shared kalamari and pita with hummus as appetizers, then got lamb souvlaki and paidakia for dinner. I swapped the rice for the grilled vegetables, which were delicious! Finished off with chocolate baklava. All paired well with the bottle of wine we shared. It was busy and a bit loud, but it was refreshing to see a small business doing so well in these times! Really tasty food, friendly service, lovely minimal decor, and a nice experience!

We ordered the large dip platter to share among 5 of us. Each dip was separated by a cucumber slice, so it got a bit messy. The octopus salad was okay. The dips themselves were all notably good. And the garlic pita was the perfect accompaniment. I loved my Greek salad and Roast Lamb Kleftiko. It was cheese, spinach and sliced roast lamb wrapped in filo dough. It was excellent. Great flavour and I’ll order it again. I wish I’d thought to ask for a more medium rare lamb. The rice was okay, and the potatoes were probably the best I’ve ever had at a Greek restaurant. Tender and flavourful.

most delicious Mediterranean foods but a little bit pricey. You should try SaganakyI, Dolmades, and Greek salad. The waitresses were very friendly.

Mezes has been around for a really long time. It’s a classic Danforth Greek restaurant. The food is good typical agreed fare. Lovely charred garlicky grilled lamb chops, a farmers salad with a nice hunk of feta, crispy calamari, and addictive dips with warm pita. I have to admit a good grilled kebab sandwich slathered with tzatziki is always nice. Very friendly service and a fun people watching patio are always a plus.

Best Greek restaurant in the city. Either get a reso or be ready to wait in a line. Though it moves fast so don't let that deter you. We've returned several times since we dined here for the blog and would return again and again. Delicious food beyond the basics and awesome service

It’s a pretty busy Greek restaurant. We tried their Lentil soup, grilled vegetables, grilled Octopus, and lamb chop. The food was good. The octopus had too much vinegar, and it became sour. It was cooked properly though, and not overbooked. We wanted the lamb chop to be medium rare, but it came out medium. It still tasted good. The staff was friendly; the place was clean and vibrant. Overall probably would go again.

Finding the location was very easy and parking is just around the corner. Walked in and was greeted and seated instantly. The place is alittle congested but with the pandemic it's understandable they wanna make their money back. We ordered the fried calamari which was delicious. We also ordered the musaka which was very delicious along with the lamb Slovakia which was cooked properly. Over all 4 starts I would recommend this place. Friendly staff and nice atmosphere. And the desert which was baklava was delicious.

One of the top, busiest Greek restaurants on The Danforth. Although busy, service is pretty attentive and quick. I was very satisfied with the experience, but docked one star for an over cooked octopus. I may chalk this up to chaotic popularity of the restaurant, and overall I’d still recommend this place to get your Greek fix.

Visited last week for lunch with friends. Nice vibes & decors. What a lovely place for authentic Greek food on Danforth. Food served warm and tasted good. We loved the beef/steak souvlaki and the roasted potatoes. Soft and tender and full of flavor.

Amazing experience, the staff so nice from the girl on front and the waither. I have a business dinner and we were 10 and all of them where so happy with all dishes, for some of them first time trying Greek food. They just love it. 😊

Okay service but fantastic food! Definitely worth 30min waiting. Highly highly recommend their lamb chops, it was one of the best I have tried.

A classic must try spot for all the favourite Greek dishes. Huge portions of food for the platters with rice, potatoes, Greek salad and pita! The dip starter platter is a nice way to try a variety of cold dips like tzatziki and hummus. Service is quick, friendly and attentive. Lots of outdoor patio seating. Can’t wait to try their new spot once it takes over the old Pappas grill on the corner!

A truly authentic Greek dining experience. A very well run restaurant, with several interesting drink options (beer from Greece and Cyprus, ouzo, etc.) Get the flaming cheese (saganaki). We had the lamb and the calamari (which was cooked to perfection). Generous portions, reasonable prices, and friendly staff.
