Amazing historical hotel in the heart of queen street. I love the blend of preserving the historical elements, like the original brick walls in the rooms, combined with modern renovations and local modern art. Very cool aesthetic. Interesting to see the photos from centuries ago, and what it used to look like compared to now. From horses outside to range rovers, you know you have lasted the test of time. Also love that pool table on the third floor, we came here for our third year anniversary, thank you to the staff and management for giving us a bottle of wine. Very kind, overall a great stay, and the whole area around the hotel is a blast.

It seemed to have been recently upgraded in its decor. The place was quite busy. I was there to play in a string quartet for a wedding. The staff was well organized and had planned how to change room ceremony was held to where dinner was to be served. Guests were to have cocktails in the adjoining bar where a live band had set up. I didn't really see the other side of the establishment as I wasn't an invited guest. I'm sure there's an interesting history to the Gladstone. I must visit it again to check for ambience.

Hosted a cozy dinner here in the Robinson Room with some friends. The room itself was perfect for the group size of 12, also having use of the lounge attached was lovely to have more space for the event. The room was decorated so lovely thanks to the event coordinator who went above and beyond. The food itself was amazing, great flavour, temperature and portion size. The Cocktails and drinks were amazing. Overall I highly recommend the Gladstone House for any function, I believe you will be well taken care of.

Really cool rooms at this boutique hotel. Staff friendly . Very interesting features art and atmosphere. Location can be a bit noisy. Lively wedding going on night we were there. Would stay there again. Wish thee were a bit more potions for storing your things in the room and usually like a room with small fridge. Coffee maker central location on different floor. Prefer in room . U inquest place to stay

A wonderful hotel in a wonderful city! Staff was beyond excellent and made sure I was comfortable. The rooms are spacious enough to be comfortable and the bed is extremely soft and huge. I absolutely loved the easy access to public transport literally outside of the front door and the extremely close proximity to virtually anything you need and downtown was less than twenty minutes away. Things to note however, you are right on a corner of a really busy street and 3 train lines so if you don't like sounds, it may not be for you but if you want to stay in one of the last historically preserved hotels (with an manned elevator) left in Toronto. I strongly recommend The Gladstone House. They made my first trip to Canada a really pleasant experience!

We stayed at the Gladstone and hosted our wedding there. The rooms are beautifully designed with comfortable beds. The event service and food and beverage were fabulous. The hotel could use some additional front office staff and maybe a second reception terminal since there were significant delays and line ups at check in and check out, but that may have been due to unusually high occupancy. All in all a great city escape.

For the price I paid I was perfectly located next to everything needed (bars, restaurants, grocery store and public transit) and the hotel was aesthetically pleasing. However, for the price I paid, I was very displeased with housekeeping and noise level. I’ve paid way less and received fresh towels, sheets, and a made bed on a daily basis. That’s not the case here, housekeeping done a very poor job at providing quality service during my stay. Dropped off towels (not all needed) and completely skipped making the bed. When called to address the housekeeping made bed the next day with same sheets (this is with the room needs cleaning sign). While the hotel was aesthetically pleasing the shower and sink drainage were not user friendly. Elevator was not convenient unless a doorman was available, so prepare to use the stairs often. Lastly the walls are extremely thin and you can hear everyone in the halls. I would not recommend if comfort and relaxation is the goal. I would recommend if you can catch a deal and location is your only concern.

Pros: Great location, rooms are clean and modern, super comfortable bed and linens. Good service. Cons: I was on the 2nd floor facing Gladstone, extremely noisy at night as there is a bar next door. It was a Monday night and I could clearly hear loud, pumping music and people shouting and laughing etc. from 10pm to 1am. Construction of a condo across the street starts at 7am. If you’re looking to a restful hotel, this is not it. The hotel did refund my parking fee due to the noise. Parking is a bit of a hassle, I got a ticket despite following the hotel’s directions. They did say they would take care of it. Overall if it weren’t for the noise and my desire to sleep I would give this 5 stars.

Staff are welcoming, went beyond helpful and added to the fun atmosphere! Very service oriented!! I look forward to staying there again!

Cool hipster hotel appropriately placed in a hipster neighborhood. The rooms are a bit small, but comfortable. Staff is very nice and gave great tips on restaurants in the area. No great views from the rooms and the connecting restaurant seemed to be closed Monday-Friday. The back of the building has a cool Shepard Fairey mural.

The restaurant here is so beautiful! My husband and I dined here for brunch. We loved the ambiance and service. Such a wonderful place to just linger over a coffee. The chicken and waffle dish was not bad, but not the best I’ve had. My husband loved his meal.

I stayed here 2 nights for a trade show. It's a great hotel. The blending of traditional with contemporary is top notch. I had one of the queen sized rooms, which I thought was a cozy size. Bedding is great. Walls are brick, so it is quiet except for the occasional nearby room door. An uber to the convention center was around $10CAD. Breakfast at the bistro bar was also good. The entire place has personality.

Generously sized rooms with comfortable bed and great sheets. The style is really gorgeous. Having real art by very talented local artists is a plus, it's like staying in a gallery. The in-room coffee in the morning was a nice touch. The fitness rooms were very well equipped. The front desk staff were incredibly nice and friendly and helpful. Super cool elevator!

My husband and I had a beautiful stay for one night in a gorgeous brick walled room, very comfortable bed, everything clean and fresh, loved the open modern design. Incredible early elevator and very special having an attendant take you up to your room with the crank elevator system. Every staff member was friendly and helpful. The place is full of character and history, and we’ll stay there again next time we’re in Toronto. Thank you for a great experience!

The hotel is adorable. The staff is nice. I'm am definitely planning to visit again. The parking was a little odd at first, but I'm a pro now. Gladstone House is a must visit!

I would highly recommend the Gladstone Hotel. I came to explore the city and this hotel was in a convenient location. A few blocks from Ossington which had lots of fun restaurants and bars. About 45 min walk or hop on tram to the City Centre. Staff was friendly. Rooms were clean. A bit small so you have to unpack your luggage and stow away to make space but the public spaces were top notch.

Miguel, what a gem! Him and Susana, we’re amazing. Really all the staff was great. Rooms were beautiful, art was dreamy. Safe hotel. Thank you for my wonderful stay.

Very friendly and approachable staff. The units are small, but have everything you need. Our room and the common areas were clean and tidy, trendy, visually appealing and well laid out. The location in Liberty Village was perfect, within walking distance to restaurants/cafes and stores, the GO train station and Budweiser Stage.

Enjoyed my stay here. We came in the middle of two weddings happening for the weekend so it was a bit noisy but that didn’t really bother us. Each floor has something different on it and I thought that was cool. I stayed on the 4th there’s a bookshelf with tons of great books and a chess board. Third floor has a pool table. Went to the bar they served good food. Took about 30 min for my burger to come out unfortunately but there was a wedding happening and the waiter informed me that they were handling both at once so there Goes the reason. If you need to use the elevator you have to request in the lobby or text the number given to you. The rooms are small but not horribly small. Kind of pricey for the size of the room but overall very beautiful hotel.

Loved the funky design. Lovely quiet room, comfy beds and nice staff. The building is charming with old bricks, high ceilings and of not to forget the oldest operating elevator in Canada --or so did they tell me :)

Stayed here for one night in a “studio suite” exceeded our expectations! The room was very nice for the price. The staff are friendly and welcoming. The small bistro restaurant was an added bonus for breakfast!

I really enjoy the Gladstone. I've stayed a few times after both driving and flying to Toronto. It is easy to travel to and from. It is in a great part of town if you're visiting for fun or business and is a short cab ride to most places downtown. The staff is very friendly and the rooms, although slightly small, are very well appointed, clean with all the modern features you expect.

This hotel is beautiful! Plants everywhere, gorgeous elevator, cool art. The layout is perfect. The room was small but it had everything I needed. The bed was so dang comfortable, as was the bedding and pillows. The restaurant had great food and cocktails. But what tips this hotel over the top is the staff - the people who work here are so nice and friendly! I’d stay here again in a heartbeat.

We had our wedding here (approx 90 people). The communication with our hotel contact (Giannina) was extremely professional and courteous. We felt well taken care of. The food is delicious, the decor and vibe is beautiful, and the rooms are incredible. The bar and wait staff during our wedding were top notch and helped make the event even better for our guests. I would love to visit and stay in the hotel just to be able to take in more of the art and amenities. Our breakfast the next day was truly delicious. We love the Gladstone and will always recommend it to people visiting the city.

This place is incredible. If you're looking to take a step back into time and get into an old elevator that has an operator this is your place, it is located in the heart of Toronto and has public transit right of its footsteps. The hotel was absolutely stunning and I love how David maintained the old school feel to it. But with a very modern touch. The South was super friendly and very helpful. And the rooms were incredibly clean and easy to access. My husband and I will definitely rebook it here

Beautiful, historic building filled with art and plants and quirky touches. Room was spotlessly clean with a super comfortable bed. Great location for exploring Queen St and we walked up to the CNE grounds for a concert. Warm, personalized service too, we will be back!

Cool building, rooms are aesthetically very nice but very noisy. Windows are old and lots of noise and bugs get in. Nice location for hanging out in Toronto.

I stayed at this place for 2 nights. The place is very artistically designed. The staff was extremely nice and helpful. The room itself was quite nice. The bed and the pillows were super comfortable. I will definitely stay here again if I ever get the chance. Thumbs up to the entire team! 👍

I've stay here twice this year (2023). The bed, pillows and linens are comfortable and we appreciate it that they're not laundered with harsh chemicals and loaded with fabric softener and perfumes. The in-room coffee maker is terrible. It's not easy to use, makes a mess, and doesn't taste good. We're not fans of the Keurig coffee either. We'd usually go out for coffee. The showers are poorly designed. Maybe they will consider installing sliding glass doors or a shower curtain. The staff are very nice people, very friendly. They forgot to mention the after-hours key fob thingy. We were embarrassed shaking the front door trying to get into the building, but the night security let us in. I don't recall having that problem the first time we stayed there. Except for the price, coffee, and shower, we love the location, comfort and staff, so we will probably book to stay there again.

I’m so happy I found this Toronto gem! Built in 1889 as a hub for creatives, the environment exudes relaxation coupled with elegance and wicked vibes. Whether you’re naughty or nice (or somewhere in between), this place will make you feel all sorts of awesome. Thank you to the Front Desk team for your hospitality.

My hotel stay was enjoyable, but I did encounter a communication problem and room change issue when I had to switch rooms due to noise from the train, tramway, and people outside. For my colleague's reservation the following day, we spent nearly 20 minutes at the reception addressing the situation where they had assigned him the noisy corner room with a King bed, which we hadn't reserved, and they insisted it was an upgrade. This occurred quite late, and we were left feeling tired. On a positive note, the breakfast was delightful, the room was exceptionally clean with a pleasant aroma, and the bed was the most comfortable I've experienced so far. I don't recommend for a business trip or with kids.

The hotel is newly renovated, the rooms are cute & clean. But if you are sensitive to noise this is NOT the place for you - the walls & windows are PAPER thin and you can hear cars / streetcar / train all night. Too bad they didn't upgrade the windows when they renovated.

OH MY GOD I WENT HERE ABOUT 2 YEARS AGO AND GOT THEIR VEGETARIAN BURGER. HOOOOLY. I remember it tasting soooo amazing but it was quite pricey, like $12 or so??? But like seriously that vegetarian burger was super tasteful and delicious. Also the Gladstone Hotel just gives me nice cozy vibes overall.

Our wedding was absolutely perfect! We can't thank Sarah enough for all your help in setting everything up. The hotel looked gorgeous and The Gladstone Team were all amazingly helpful and friendly. It was an absolute pleasure working with Sarah and the wider team from start to finish. Everything went so smoothly and it was better than we could've imagined. We are so incredibly happy - both still beaming from the day.

Structurally beautiful, that is for sure. I go here for fairs sometimes, and I have always found the old decor and styling very characteristic of the building. People are always friendly here and I have been wanting to go back for a while. It is a little small in the entrance way and in the rooms off to the sides when you first go in, making it hard to have your own space during an event. But besides that, a great place to attend events.

This was a marvelous place for a wedding. The staff were friendly, courteous and helpful. The ambiance was super. The dinner for a little more than a hundred guests was very well handled. All the guests at a table got their food at the same time. The salmon and beef dishes were appreciated by all the guests.

Such a cool hotel/art gallery. It is a dynamic space that is full of life during the day and nice and quiet at night. I stayed just one night on a business trip. Slept great and the room had everything I needed. The staff was friendly, helpful and kind. Enjoyed it all.

Beautifully renovated to suit the modern lifestyle around it, the Gladstone Hotel keeps exquisite architectural parts of its past from 1889. Each floor has a lounge with different purposes (library, games room, and sitting area), and the elevator is an experience itself, exhibiting its history and durability. Despite our room's eclectic and minimalistic design, it was comfortable and simplistic. With the sink separate from the shower and toilet, my husband and I were able to get ready for a wedding simultaneously. Just a couple of steps from our room featured a small alcove with an Nespresso machine, dispensing hot water for tea and flavour pods, and a mini fridge (for cream!). The staff were amiable and incredible, and extremely helpful when I encountered minor problems (that were my fault, I promise). It was also incredibly easy to check in and out after our long drive. Thank you for a wonderful experience! I will return in the future!

We got married at the Gladstone and would highly recommend it. Vincent was an incredible event services manager and helped coordinate so many moving pieces involved in our wedding. He truly went above and beyond for us! All our guests told us the venue was stunning - the renovations have created the perfect mix of vintage and modern styles!

I paid by far the highest price per night ever in my life for a cramped room without useful things like a desk or a fridge. Maybe we were paying for the 'design' chandelier? Or the pink glow in the room when turning on the bathroom light (I'm sure my partner loved being woken up by that when i got up in the middle of the night to use the toilet). Extremely hard to regulate the temperature in the room. We were drawn to the place by the photos showing an old brick building...it has been very carefully restored, but with a 'modern' flavor that we found downright tacky. We liked the bed- super comfortable. And the pool table, except that every time we wanted to play, the balls were gone (and then we heard someone breaking at 9am). Free coffee, but not in your room -- head up to the fourth floor and wait in line for the one machine. The elevator is original, but half the time we called it, no one answered (it has to be operated by hotel staff). We wouldn't be complaining so much had we paid something more reasonable...the price per night was almost triple what I'd consider fair for what you get here.

Stayed there as a birthday "night" in the city. Very cute boutique hotel where every floor has its own "vibe". The bar/restaurant there is excellent and would fully recommend their brunch as well Ps their vodka parsley mint cocktail is so good

We booked our wedding with The Gladstone for a 2020 wedding and finally was able to have our wedding reception this month! Over the past 2 years, the GH's wedding staff had quite a turnover, but they were always responsive to our questions and ensured a smooth transition each time. We were impressed with the attention to detail, which helped remove a lot of stressors on our end. We highly recommend this venue as a wedding venue. Our experience was fantastic!

My wife and I met with our son and his partner today for brunch... It was the first time that we had been there... Beautiful! A very hip and cool place. The staff were excellent and very attentive. We enjoyed every minute of our time there. We will be returning!

Nice hotel. Great concierge. Fantastic location. Horrible room placement. There was a wedding there the night my husband and I were going to stay there. Which is totally fine. Great even. However, if they know there will be a wedding there, I have no idea why they would give people a room (who were not at the wedding) that was right OVER the party. We could literally FEEL the music. When we called down to tell them and ask if there was another room, we were told there were no other rooms available that were not above the wedding and that the wedding was due to go until 1am. With that, we were frantically trying to find somewhere else to stay at 11pm. Luckily we got a full refund and found a quiet hotel to stay in. We would have loved to stay there, but it seems like a MAJOR oversight of the hotel to allow for the rooms over the wedding to be booked by people other than those who are at the wedding. On a night there is going to be a wedding there, those rooms should be strictly for guests of the wedding or the bride and groom. If you plan on staying here, I would recommend you either request a room on the opposite side of Gladstone Ave. or ask if there is going to be a wedding on the night(s) of your stay.

  • 2/5 David R. 1 year ago on Google
For a simple night stay in the liberty village area this was adequate. The rooms are small with creative modern solutions to use the space. But all we needed was a bed and bathroom so it was more than fine. The staff were very nice and helpful, and getting checked in was easy. However, with the bar below and common room spaces near the hotel rooms, our Saturday night sleep was constantly ruined by yelling across the hotel hallways, music, and loud groups talking; we got in around 2am to just crash and get a good night's sleep but sadly couldn't get to sleep due to the noise. I feel if this party setup was what they were going for, they would have set up much better sound proofing so other guests could actually use the rooms to sleep.

To be honest when I was outside the hotel, my expectations was very low about this hotel But when I entered, everything changed. It is small but very nice. The decoration of the room impressed me, again it is small but super comfortable. I would definitely stay in that hotel again. The only thing is that the parking lot is not as close as one would like, and if you leave your car outside you get a ticket. Other than that it is a great hotel.

We had 3 generations there to celebrate a graduation. The rooms were all uniquely appointed with original artists creating them. It feels historic & modern at the same time, with such a beautiful renovation. Love the location & breakfasts/ coffees. The staff is lovely, friendly & helpful.

Comfy hotel and at a decent price (for TO!) The decor is quirky and cool, with fun entertainment options like pool and chess on each floor. The antique elevator is a nice touch but a staff member needs to be called each time to operate so might not be ideal during peak times if guests are in a rush. Our room was very small, but to be expected in TO at that price, and it was clean and very comfortable. Staff were very friendly and professional.

  • 5/5 Alex B. 1 year ago on Google
Gorgeous old hotel that has many unique characteristics, including one of those old-timey elevators! Do be aware though that because it's old the rooms have a different layout than most chain hotels - I loved it but if that's something you care about then yeah, also the windows don't open. It's not a major thing, I just like fresh air. Everything else was fantastic and all the staff were so super nice.

Stayed here for our wedding and had a wonderful time! The front desk staff was incredible. We stayed in the corner king room and it was beautiful!!! Beds are super comfy, the rooms are beautiful, location is fantastic. It is downtown Toronto and on a main street so there is some noise at night as expected. We will be back!

Just attended my cousin's wedding there. I haven't been there in over 20 years when I used to be pool tables and karaoke, what an absolute upgrade for a venue like this! I do miss the old look and feel, but this was a lovely time tonight! The pictures on the website simply do not do it justice for a wedding venue.

A beautiful hotel, with smart uses of compact rooms. Note the walls are absolutely paper thin, outside and in. Walkable location with street car right out front. You definitely pay a premium in all aspects ($45 for two drinks at the bar?!). If you can book through a third party site for discount.

Recent renovations gives this tired hotel a needed makeover. We had our offsite meeting at this hotel. I had my reservations when the venue was announced. The last time I was here, I remembered the hotel was tired looking. But was pleasantly surprised at the makeover. The place looked absolutely stunning. All of the staff was terrific. They were all so accommodating and friendly. The food was awesome. The meals were delicious. Not sure about the rooms. But if you need a small venue for meetings, I would recommend this place.

Stopped in for brunch on a Saturday after the Toronto Flower Market. Our server Allie was excellent, attentive and filled with joy, made the experience a great on! Brunch was tasty and affordable, I had a Americano coffee and Avocado Toast. The rest if the group had Eggs Benny with Smoked Salmon and a regular breakfast. Loved the vibe and the art of the Gladstone would love to come back and explore more!

We had an incredible experience at the Gladstone House. The staff's warm and friendly personality added a special touch to our birthday celebrations. The hotel exuded character with its unique decor and ambiance, creating a memorable stay for us and our dog as the hotel is pet friendly! The extra steps taken, such as providing wine, champagne, and a thoughtful birthday card, showcased their commitment to ensuring we enjoyed our time. Overall, a charming and personalized experience that made our birthdays truly special. Thank you Gladstone House!
