4 star just because I had higher expectations with this restaurant. FOOD: • Fish Taco: decent taco, I expected the fish to be crispy to go with soft shell, or other way around. • Oysters: some of the oysters on the plates are quite smaller than other ones, but quite fresh. • Wild Boar Chop: a little dry and chewy to me. The red cabbage was seasoned unevenly, some part is very salty and some are not. • Beverly Creak Lamb: best dish on the table. This is probably the best lamb I ever had, highly recommend. DRINKS: • Pretty in Pink: lovely cocktail, bright and fruity. SERVICE: great service, food came out a bit slow VIBE: I had dinner at the lounge but not main dining room, the room is smaller but feels cozy.

A staple of the Yorkville are, Sassafraz is a high end restaurant and as such one would expect impeccable food and service in an exceptional ambiance. Sadly, one of these elements was missing during a recent dining experience. The waiter, Michael, had attitude from the start. He was abrupt, ignoring our request, and simply due. We were shocked and tried to make light of this experience. Fortunately as the dinner progressed he softened his attitude and rose to the level of the establishment he was representing. The menu could be smaller with choices as it was confusing. The meat platter for $24 dollars was feather skimps in the quantity of items on the board. The mussels were excellent as was the bread served with butter superb crust and flavour. The tenderloins was very good. I suggest they offer the option of a larger portion than just a 6oz one. I found the 60z too small for me. The cod was also very good as was the vegetarian eggplant dish. A simple ice cream dessert was all that was needed to round off a good meal and I had the pistachios which tasted of real pistachio and not some pistachio flavour. Its a pricey restaurant with dinner for four with drinks and tip topped into the $500+ range.

It's a very gorgeous restaurant, with a decent sized menu and drink menu. The duck comes medium but I felt it was more on the raw side so I'd recommend ordering medium well. The food had nice favour and presentation.

Booked Sassafraz for our wedding, both the service and the food were great! We received raving reviews from relatives/friends and all our guests particularly loved mix drinks. Dennette and team were very accommodating throughout the process and would highly recommend for couples looking for intimate wedding venue!

Overall great dining experience. I took my mom out for dinner here and we both enjoyed the food, service and overall atmosphere. We ordered to share the duck pate, Atlantic salmon, Quebec wild boar, and strawberry cheesecake. The salmon tasted so fresh and by far my favourite dish, followed closely by the cheesecake. I felt like the pate had a slight metallic after taste, and the boar was a little fatty for my liking. Subjective to my taste buds though because my mom loved everything! Will be back and eager to try out the different dishes.

I went here during Winterlicious because let’s be honest. Ain’t no one got money for that. I started with the Manhattan Chowder which was really tasty with the bread they provided. The duck was good which came with brussels sprouts. Not going to lie. The duck was good, but the brussels sprouts were the star of the show. The sprouts packed a lot of flavor and were cooked to perfection. I ended with the Cheesecake which they serve with a decent portion of berry compote. The cheesecake wasn’t as dense as a New York style cheesecake and almost tasted like Hong Kong egg tart. Don’t know how to explain it other than that. Just get it. All in all, this was a great experience and the staff made ensured our evening was as enjoyable as possible.

The service and atmosphere were awesome, it is a beautiful restaurant with staff that pay attention to every detail of your experience. It has an inner courtyard where you can eat under the sky. For me the only downside was I needed more pizazz with the food. It was well cooked, well plated but didn't have that extra zing to make it a five star meal.

Amazing location and super awesome service! The manager, Ricky was phenomenal. He gave us a table to enjoy a drink while the kitchen was catching up with their full house. Vinay provided a great service too!

The ambiance was amazing but our service was not the greatest. I kept stacking up my plates for the servers to take but they weren't clearing the tables and wouldn't check on us as much as you'd expect at a nice restaurant. The mac and cheese was surprisingly delicious and the steak was decent, nothing special but the collard greens and mushrooms were amazing. I'd go again for the ambiance alone :)

We finally had the chance to try out this restaurant for brunch, and it exceeded our expectations! From the moment we stepped inside, we were greeted with a fantastic atmosphere that instantly set a great mood. The waiter was incredibly friendly and attentive. The food was delicious, and we left feeling completely satisfied.

The place is cute. The staff, specifically the service staff have attitude and is extremely quick/rude. Food tastes good except for the sharp bone I found inside the lamb shank. It stabbed my throat and I choked. The rude server said he’ll ask the chef but the answer the manager had was they don’t know. I asked if the deboned their lamb and was told yes but that’s a pretty obvious bone to miss in every shank. Genuinely wish I chose a different place.

I wish I could have given 6 stars for impeccable and amazing service. The staff is attentive and particular in ensuring your experience is divine. No detail is overlooked. My daughter was struggling with the large romaine leaves in her salad and they insisted on remaking one entirely chopped, without asking. The ambience is signature Yorkville and will not disappoint. A definite must when in the district.

Good location, Great food and Gorgeous service!! Everything from the nice ambiance to the caring service and the extremely high quality of the food, all combined to help us forget about the Covid for one day ! We were very impressed with this meal which we thought was very reasonable in price considering the high level of quality. Our fantastic server provided us with highly professional yet personable attention with many small details being catered to!! And Now They need to use part of the street and did an amazing job on the patio!! Not doubt, We will come again with more family and friends next time....... Just need to walk out the BAY subway station, then enjoy the precious summer time in Toronto !

We had a nice experience at Sassafraz. Excellent service, good sized portions and a beautiful dining room. I really enjoyed the seared tuna salad and the steak tartar was also delicious. There’s a great patio if you prefer to enjoy the fresh air and people watching.

Service was amazing, called in to let them know we were going to be late and they had accommodated with a new time. Servers were also attentive to orders. Ordered the Wellington County Beef Tenderloin (6oz) and Canadian Atlantic Salmon which both were cooked to perfection! Steak was medium rare as requested and salmon tasted just as lovely. Dessert - flourless cake wasn’t the best but it tasted better with the side of ice cream that comes with it, a little too sweet for our liking, although would highly recommend this restaurant for any type of setting to dine in!

I can't even believe how horrible the service was. I saw the server 3 times: beginning, middle and end. It was so bad to the point where my friend called the restaurant and asked the receptionist to send our server. We felt neglected. He saw the table in front of us many times but didn't bother checking up on us. Not only was the service poor, there was a piece of hair in the mac&cheese. Would I come back, absolutely not. Way more better restaurants around.

Food and drinks: Appetizers- octopus was chewy and rubbery and overall bland. Even the purée it came with was bland and added no flavour. The duck pate was ok. Mains- The chicken supreme was dry, to be honest costco chicken is probably more juicy and flavourful than this. Which is just shocking. My friends Bass dish was ok but nothing special , the pork tenderloin was also ok, nothing special. Overall, all bland no seasoning at all. Drinks - all our cocktails were super watered down tasted like water. Service: Each time the apps , main and desserts came they were all delivered to the wrong person and we had to switch amongst ourselves. You would think that after the first time they would have realized and adjusted especially since we pointed it out But nope each time it came they got the placements wrong. It is very disappointing and unprofessional. Water was also spilled numerous times during the meal on our table when refilling. There was a fly during our meal that was flying around our table and the one next to us. Overall very disappointed , have had better food and service at chain restaurants. Expected more

Sassafraz hosted our wedding and it was absolutely stunning! Dennette was a delight to work with, a true professional! The atmosphere brought so much to our special day and the service from every employee we dealt with was impeccable. We cannot recommend Sassafraz enough for couples looking for an intimate restaurant wedding venue. At the very least, stop by for dinner and try a few dishes, walk through the dining area and see for yourself. The live wall speaks a thousand words. Thank you Sassafraz for the perfect day!

The ambiance in this restaurant is just lovely. My daughter and I had dinner here a couple of nights ago. Starting with some sparkling - wish there had been a few other choices for this. Dinner started with oysters which were perfectly great, followed by the Ontario beef tartare - yummy! Main was the lamb and just fantastic! We did split the main, so when looking at the pictures, note that it was split already for us. Loved the fact that they did this. So the food was AWESOME! Our waiter was very good to begin things and then had a larger table come in and we became non-existent, with not even dessert or coffee being offered. Finally a different waitress came and as she had no idea either where we were in the food aspect of things, just asked us if we wanted our bill. At this point, what else could we do, pay the bill and leave. I did cut the tip a little short (15% only), and to be honest, in thinking about it now, I should have cut it even less to simply make a point. Service can make or break a dining experience which is really too bad. The food being really good might be enough for us to return, although I cannot say that we will for sure.

Social business partner dinner are sometimes challenging to schedule and picking a place takes a lot of consideration, Sassafraz however has a cozy atmosphere, in a great location, also a great menu and wine list, accessible through the subway, close by parking structures, and near high end designer stores, near perfect choice I think. And the food is great, the oysters are fresh and tastes great. The service is excellent, prompt and accommodating. Try the tuna salad if being health conscious.

Came by for brunch, plenty of outdoor seating and indoor seating available. The interior is features various different style is seating. Staff was very pleasant, service was quick. The brunch menu itself was limited. I opted in to try the omelette, it was alright. The latte was tasty! Overall, a decent spot to grab brunch.

I have been dining at Sassafraz for years and I feel the ambience has definitely changed over the years. Food is still decent, not 5-star though, but the noise level during dinner time is almost unbearable. There are many restaurants at this level that offer much better ambience.

Great restaurant. I had my wedding here in May 2022, Dennette and the staff were amazing and we had a lovely and memorable wedding. We came back for our anniversary and food and service still remains consistent and they ensured our anniversary was memorable. Thank you again!

Came here with a group of six for work lunch. The positives: service is very warm and friendly, and atmosphere is lovely. The dining room with the waterfall, high ceilings and skylight roof was bright and relaxed. I was not as impressed by the food (not bad, not great). We shared the cheese and cured meat boards which were fine, but nothing to write home about. I ordered the beef tenderloin which was cooked well and came with a nice bone marrow horseradish butter (couldn't really taste the horseradish though). The asparagus was seasoned well but I found the collard greens and mushrooms on the saltier side. Overall, food was just okay but pricy.

Went for dinner during summerlicious. Food wasn’t amazing and the service was a bit slow. But the sea bass was really good and the restaurant is nice though

Nestled in Yorkville this restaurant hits all the right notes for a place to go on a nice date. The service was prompt and friendly and the decor was very well done with a nice sophisticated atmosphere to it. The food was delicious and well portioned. I totally recommend the duck pate. It is rich and delicious. But get the french baguette on the side as well as the crisps they provide for the pate aren't enough and you'll need a little bread after to finish up the pate.

An enjoyable evening together with my wife. All good ordered and recommended by our server was delicious, tasty and very appreciated by both of us. We had the Ontario beef tartare, the giannone farm chicken supreme, the spicy soup and the strip loin with a side of parmigiano truffle fries. Plus a couple of cocktails. Would recommend everything we had.

The ambiance is nice and the open windows in the summer are refreshing. The service was great, the server very attentive. The food on the other hand needs improvement. My salmon was bland, had to add so much lemon juice and salt, pepper to fix it. My husband's braised lamb was too dry, he didn't finish it. We had higher expectation from this place. We went elsewhere for dessert...

Came for a wedding. Food was lightly salted. Really tasted the freshness of the ingredients. The diver scallops and cauliflower soup were amazing. Tenderloin was great, but nothing to write home about. My partner ordered chicken and it was too dry.

Patio is cute, actually got a quick table. Server was great to start and we got some appetizers quickly. Then we ordered drinks and our second round of drinks the martini was so watered down. Then the waiter avoided us for over 15 minutes until he finally came over and said yes he had a feeling bar ran out of olive juice… he took it off the bill but just seemed shady. We also got Aperol spritz and they were better. Food on the other hand was pretty good.

We had a really good dinner experience here so decided to go back for Sunday brunch. Our food took a little bit longer then expected and was not as warm as we had liked but the staff/manager took initiative and made things right. Our latte and dessert was delicious though. We will be back and highly recommended.

I gave them 4 starts … however, since over 50% of my beef brisket was just fat and no meat and the fact that the taste wasn’t good — and the fries served was cold and burnt, I’m lowering my quality score to three stars. They have a great location and potential … please focus on the quality of the food.

Great place for nightlife with best friends and family. Nice and fresh food, served fast and employees are very friendly. Location is perfectly set in the corner of street, we have the best view of the night. Happy hour and very enjoyed our stay in this place. Definitely will come back, recommend to everyone!

Thoroughly mediocre dining experience. We were told that the brunch menu was not available at 11 am on a Saturday. Apparently they would have made an exception if we really wanted but confusing why they would not be serving brunch as standard at that time. The wellness bowl was quite bland. The ingredients seemed fresh but not enough seasoning to make it taste anything more than eating raw vegetables with plain rice. Service was overly attentive but then absent minded. Overall not great.

Definitely a nice place to eat at but my last experience had me feeling a little disappointed! Went for lunch with my friends and had a delicious lunch with bubbly. The service was okay, and near the end of the lunch our server seemed to forget about us. Prices are also quite expensive though it’s expected with the location. I’ll be back but hoping to have a slightly better experience ☺️

We had a corporate event in their private room on the second floor and the ambience, service and food were impeccable. Best beef tenderloin I ever ate. Special shout ot to Stephan, our host and both of our dedicated servers.
