I loved their foods! Karaage was juicy and crunchy. I was surprised that they had many different kind of seats and so spacious. Since I have allergies, they offered a list for me, which was really nice of them! Wanna go visit again to try other foods!

Kinka is a lively restaurant that is excellent for groups. The food comes as small sharable plates that come out at a good pace. The food itself is delicious. Whether it's new friends or old, kinka is a great spot for a good meal and a good time!

Still going strong, this place broke open the izakaya scene in Toronto, and doesn't disappoint. The food is the standout, but the Japanese inspired cocktails are excellent, and service is attentive and cheerful, it's all wrapped up in a spectacular dining room that's cosy and casual, like dining in an upscale barn. Order the miso black cod, tuna and salmon tataki, shrimp tempura, chicken karaage, beef short ribs, and one of the bibimbap options for a full tour dinner. Be sure to let them know if it's your birthday for a special treat!

My go-to authentic Izakaya when I am in GTA. Service is always good. Carbonara Udon and Tako wasabi are delicious. The various beverage and cocktails are also delicious. Keep in mind that dishes are similar to tapas style, and approximately $60 to $80 of food is probably required to fill two people. For an even better experience, I highly recommend ordering sake bomb for the table.

Good vibes inside and out on patio. Good service, good food. Some nice sake too. The fries was much higher than I expected. Although I did come in expecting yakatori style skewers Izakaya. This felt more like Japanese tapas to me. Overall, great experience and good location.

I had a blast here. Good food and a fun experience. [Food] We ordered a bunch of items to share and most of the food turned out really good. [Drinks] I could come here just for the sake bombs. They were a fun experience. I'd recommend it to anyone who comes here. [Service] The staff was extremely friendly, and they made me feel welcome.

Very good Japanese Izakaya style restaurant. Quite noisy but it’s a place where you can discuss loudly and drink beers along you eat your Takoyaki pleasant service. It’s better to book for your dinner if you don’t want to wait for a free table (visit in November 22)

Yummy food, great heated patio we had to ask them to turn off one of the heaters! nice staff. It was a bit too loud but we enjoyed the cool crowd. You definitely need a reservation even for weekdays… the waiting hours are a bit long. would recommend - don’t forget to reserve your spot

The fries taste delicious and the quantity match the price! However, we got a bit disappointed with the rice of the bibimbap. It’s a bit soggy. The udon taste great as well, but the quantity is a bit little. The vibes here are great overall.

The food came out very fast and tasted great. We ordered okonomiyaki, takoyaki, JFC aka karaage, salmon tataki, Tokyo fries, and sizzling beef short ribs. The karaage was very fatty in a good way and the okonomiyaki tasted just like Japan. Salmon tataki was also high quality. Overall very good and we were in and out within 45 minutes.

Great atmosphere, and friendly staff. The food not only tasted fresh and delicious but also was presented beautifully. Very recommended! The fried shrimp and Yuzu cocktail are one of my favourites.

Quality of food:  5/5 - delicious izakaya style food, this is our go to spot on a recurring basis and they do not disappoint. Try the scallops, oshizushi salmon, and the mentai udon. Consistently tasty. Giant Sapporo mug is very nice as well Cleanliness:  4/5 - clean restaurant Service:  5/5 - great service, generally need a reservation before if you want to sit at the table. Can always sit at the bar as walk in. Value for money:  4/5 - relatively on the value side for a downtown restaurant. They often have specials. Recommendation:   4/5 - This izakaya deserves a visit if you are in the area. Try the oshizushi and the giant Sapporo mug. The dishes are meant to be shared with others. Make a reservation ahead of time if not do not worry can always sit at the bar during a busy evening. Nice environment for friends gathering.

It was my first time at this restaurant, it has an amazing welcoming atmosphere and presence. The staff are great at recommending food items on the menu, the service is also great! There’s indoor and outdoor dining; all dishes were delicious! It’s recommended to try multiple dishes to get a full experience on the various items on the menu. I highly recommend the mushroom cheese and rice dish!

Excellent food with reasonable prices, and portions are big enough. The atmosphere of this place is another level, they have special cheers whenever someone orders a sake bomb. It was a fun experience! Also, it was my birthday they offer us complimentary matcha cheesecake(which was great!) and took our picture with their instant camera. The staff were so welcoming. Highly recommend it here!

I love Kinka Izakaya! Hubby and I had been to the Montreal location before so when we were visiting Toronto for the weekend, and I saw they had a location there, I made us a reservation. Our resso was for 8 pm on a Saturday night and it was packed. Looks like a popular spot for bachelorette parties because we saw a few there. We ordered the oyster kakimayo, sashimi platter, carbonara udon, and curry cheese bibimbap. The oyster kakimayo is a fave. We ordered this in Montreal and I liked it there too. It’s cheesy and garlicky - what’s not to love? The sashimi was good too but pretty standard. My favorite piece was the ebi. The udon was great. It comes with a perfectly poached egg that you mix in with the noodles. Bibimbap was fine - nothing special. It probably could have used more cheese but I don’t think it’s something you couldn’t make at home with those Japanese curry blocks. I wish they had a location in NYC. The prices are also very reasonable for an izakaya so you get a good bang for your buck. Guess I’ll just have to visit again the next time I’m in Canada.

Love this place. The atmosphere is the best, so chilled, loud, and fun. Especially the sake bomb, makes me miss home whenever we go drinking. Everyone should try the sake bomb here for the experience. Foods taste excellent too. Prices are reasonable. Portions could be bigger, or maybe b/c I was hungry? Lol. Service is fast and pleasant. We brought our friends visiting from out of town here and we had a blast. When others visit, we'll bring them here again, so much fun.

This spot is a must try! The service is on point, the ambiance is great and they’re not going to disappoint. In terms of food you need to try their Salmon/Shrimp Ozusushi, the chicken karaage, and the rice bowls! Highly recommend trying a sake bomb if you’re with a group of people too! Overall this is great spot and I was really happy with my experience.

This is one of the best sushi's I've had in Toronto, too bad they only have 3 options, well I guess they really make those 3 optikns with all the love because they were mouthwatery good. I also tried the scallops, duck and karage entres and they were absolutely amazing. Will definitely return to try other stuff.

really liked this place!!!! i stopped by with some friends and we were indecisive about what to order - the server, i think his name was nick, was so friendly and gave us a number of suggestions from the menu. we ended up getting the gyoza, beef carpaccio, tokyo fries, karaage, roast duck and tiger shrimp oshizushi. i found the service was very quick and the amount of food we got was perfect. also quite reasonably priced in my opinion. i would love to try their other toronto location as well. will be coming back!!!

Yummy food and wonderful, friendly service! This really is a one of a kind place :) I would definitely go back to explore more of their menu. Prices are mostly reasonable, ambience is fun, and I personally love the location. My only critiques: • I did find some of the food (namely the Calamari) to be quite salty/saucy- (and usually I am all for that!) An easy fix. Knowing this I’d ask for it on the side next time. • The cheesecake is really small! Like almost ridiculously small. If that’s your thing, then great! But for ~$6 I don’t think I’d order it again haha! Thanks for a great experience!!!

This is a great izakaya that actually has main menu options for reasonable sizes for the price (for a bar/izakaya) and all the food tastes really good. The atmosphere is very lively and the servers are all super energetic and kind. Definitely recommend asking for a sake bomb!

Had an amazing experience at this Japanese restaurant! The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, creating a warm and inviting vibe. The food was outstanding, delivering authentic flavors that left a lasting impression. A definite must-visit for anyone looking for a delightful dining experience in the Toronto area.

What truly steals the show is the effortlessly chic ambiance. It strikes a balance between lively and cozy, making it an ideal spot for friend chats. If you crave an excellent atmosphere, great food, and an overall fantastic night out. The menu is a feast for the senses. The attentive staff guides you through a culinary journey, ensuring every bite is a flavor-packed delight. The sashimi paired with a delightful kick from wasabi mayo – a tasty combo that hits the spot!

Been here a handful of times. Always excellent food and vibe. Can be very loud if you’re looking for a place to have real conversations. Some dishes we had this past visit; the smoked edamame. I don’t usually order edamame unless it’s different, which this most definitely is. It was addictive and very Smokey! A bit disappointed by the octopus salad. Kind of expected a ceviche type dish but turned out to be just slices with the smallest drizzle of dressing. $16 (???) Carbonara udon - very good. Would love if it had some bacon or something. Beef carpaccio was delicious, very well balanced flavour profile. Beef curry cheese hot rice bowl. Don’t know if they’re supposed to offer to mix it for you but this was not offered to us on this occasion. It was good but definitely more of a beef flavoured curry rather than distinguishable beef pieces in the curry. Some points of improvement but I don’t think it necessarily warrants a star off.

The food here was really good. We got stashed into a hard to see seat behind the coat rack and had issues with service for our entire visit. If we didn’t try hard to flag someone down there was an expectation that the staff was not going to come to our table. That said the food was quite good. I think coming here with a larger group and sitting at one of the long tables would be really fun as an experience. I would have liked to see a more traditional Izakaya all you can drink experience as opposed to needing to spend 10 dollars a pint though. Especially when other restaurants nearby sell the same pints of Sapporo for 7 dollars. Kinka Izakaya is also a bit tucked back. To the point that my party actually walked into the Ramen place next door thinking we were at the right place as it sticks out a lot more and is much better lit leading to it outshining the Izakaya. The food at Kinka is significantly better and I recommend it over the the food next door though.

Overall, the food is okay. The oyster is good. However, the udon and bbq eel are plain. The takoyaki didn’t meet my expectations.

Extremely long wait for food and non apologetic staff. Waitress did not apologise for the delay nor get back to us after we inquired how long our food would take after we waited for the first 25 mins. First plate finally served to us after 45 mins, this was out of the 3 plates we ordered togther. 2nd plate followed another 15 mins after, the 3rd plate after a total of 1hr 5 min wait time. It was a terrible experience. We were offered a 15% discount after we brought it to another servers noticed. They forgot to put in the 15% promised when they brought us the cheque. Overall it was disappointing and we completely lost our apetitite.

First of all, if you’re starving and if you haven’t eaten anything the entire day or two, then prepare to order pretty much everything on the menu. They have decent portions per meal. You might have to order multiple dishes in order to get to that bloated state. But the food is just mouth watering. If you like sashimi like I do, I highly recommend ordering all their salmon dishes! Also, try their Cherry Blossom cocktail drink! You’re welcome ☺️

If you like to embark in a variety of Japanese snacks, this is a place to consider. Lots of small dishes similar to portion size you get at a Dim Sum cuisine however it is twice as expensive (so beware if you're a frugal eater) Our order of items: Katsu Toji, Salmon Tataki, Takoyaki, Karaage, Niku Udon, Salmon Oshizushi, Hotate Oshizushi Both Oshizushis were wonderful. I expected soy sauce to go along with it but it tastes good without it. Takoyaki is crisp when served and Karaage is super crunchy served with salad sauce. My least favourite was the Katsu Toji. It was too soggy for me as it was covered by the lid and steamed. Am not sure if this was done intentionally.

I got the takoyaki and eel bibimbap! The takoyaki was so good, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside :) Eel bibimbap I expected more out of-- it seemed like it was just rice and veggies and not much eel/eel sauce... (I do know bibimbap is essentially rice and veggies but there is usually sauce like gochujang, etc.) The servers were very attentive and kind and the atmosphere was great !

This is such an authentic Japanese place, the waiter we had was so sweet and gave us tine to order. The food all had unique tastes but in a good sort of unique way. I was really happy with their sake selection, you could get it hot or cold. I definitely want to go again ^^

Super fun high energy atmosphere! The heated patio is much quieter if you want a chiller vibe. Everything from our drinks (neko punch and the gin fizz) to our shared plates was amazing, and our server Nick was so friendly and attentive even though it was a busy night! The miso cod special was one of the best plates of fish I've ever had. The tapas are pretty small so you may also want to get a main if you're hungry, but everything is very reasonably priced for how beautiful and delicious it is! Oh, and the hojicha brulee was to die for.

Came before the dinner rush - but service was a little slow to begin with. I ordered the grilled mackerel bento, the mackerel was good, however the fish cake tempura was not the 'crispy' tempura I was expecting, was kind of soggy and cold. Dining outside was a cool experience, but the food wasn't what I expected, and service overall could've been better.

  • 5/5 Joel C. 9 months ago on Google
Great for light dinner...we could've easily eaten more if we were hungrier. But we were perfectly served. Loved the imported sashimi and the lobster sashimi too. Chicken Namban hit the spot. Fun atmosphere with a young attentive staff. $3 Soju shots? There's a catch - gotta cheer with the staff and the rest of the crowd. But hey, why not...I won't forget eating there now!

A friend and I were here for the first time for dinner at this restaurant at this location. Highly recommend making reservations as it got really busy and guests waiting outside to be seated on a Thursday night! We ordered: - hot green tea - pumpkin croquette - brie cheese 2.0 - tiger shrimp oshizushi - grilled salmon bento -hojicha brulee - matcha cheese cake Everything was delicious! I was even impressed with the green tea! LOL Flavours and portion sizes for all dishes was on point. I'm not a big cheese cake fan but the matcha cheese cake is so worth having! Atmosphere is very energetic and can get very loud. Food is incredible here and look forward to going back.

Overall, a very nice experience. We particularly enjoyed the chicken, and the black sesame ice cream. The latter is just out of this world, an exquisite flavour. On the side where we were lacking something - the Unagi dish could actually use a bit less rice and a bit more of unagi itself to our taste.

I always love kinka and have been here several times. It is always my go to spot when I am looking for quality, delicious food for a great price. I also love bringing friends and family here as I find their quality to be very consistent. I always like to get an oshizushi (pressed sushi) all of which are delicious. If you like shrimp, definitely get the shrimp one. Otherwise, the other three are just as good. We got mackeral this time. I don't usually get the karage but I'm so insanely glad that I did this time. It was probably the best karage I have ever had and the portions were absolutely massive. I like that there are also 3 flavors to chose from. I think that is a new feature. The Kinka udon was delicious as alwayy. We also ordered okonomiyaki (savory pancake dish) which was flavorful and soft. They were very busy and the restaurant was full but we didn't have to ask for a water refill once. The service was prompt and polite which are the two most important things for me. I will definitely coming back again as I have been. I just wanted to give this particular visit a shout out because the food was extra spectacular. 11/10

I really like the atmosphere and vibes of this location but there a few things that could improve. For one, we found the portions to be a little small for the price. ESPECIALLY the cheesecake, it was a sliver. Barely a slice, so it was a little disappointing. However, the service and the taste of everything really made up for it. The karaage is the best I’ve had at any Izakaya, and their special Cherry Blossom drink was incredible. Definitely recommend!

Came with a friend for dinner on the outside patio- it's fully covered so no need to worry about rain or hot sunny days! We ordered: Salmon Special Salmon Belly Sous Vide Duck Breast Tuna Oshizushi Nanohana Hotate Oshizushi Yaki Udon Sake The Salmon Special was cool, they mix in the egg with the dish for you to wrap in seaweed to eat. It was really hot when we ate and the seaweed went soft in minutes but they were nice enough to give us new crisp ones! Duck breast, nanohana, Udon and Salmon Belly were all good but nothing special. The oshizushis were amazing with the sauce and toppings!
